I just tried As U Wish in December and I had an amazing experience. Skyy and Mary Ann immediately made me feel comfortable and welcome when I walked in. This is definitely a place you need to make an appointment so book ahead. If you're looking for a quick in and out manicure/pedicure I would not come here because they really focus on giving you a great experience and stellar service, which sometimes takes a little longer. Also, I loved that Skyy's two tiny dogs were there - so if you're not a dog person that might be a no go for you. The owner, Skyy, is wonderfully warm and welcoming, and did a great job waxing my eyebrows and lip area. Then I had a great "milk-me-away" spa pedicure and a no-polish manicure with a shiny buff, courtesy of Mary who did an amazing job. She took her time, was careful in expertly cutting my in-grown toenails, and gave me the most thorough no-polish manicure I've ever had -- thoroughly filing and cleaning up the nails and cuticles, and buffing my nails smoother than I've ever experienced before. A downside is that the pedicure stations feel a bit makeshift -- they have to bring a big tub of water and perch it on a step in front of the chair -- and they have no drying stations. Ideally, I would have liked to put my feet in a portable drying apparatus while Mary was doing my manicure. Instead, I ended up walking home in flip-flops on a cold, rainy December day ... which is less than ideal! The price also wasn't cheap: a total of $142 (including purchase of the flip flops, but not including the tip) for everything I've described above. I'm new to Hoboken and am not yet sure how this compares to other local nail salons, so I'll do some shopping around. Still, this is a great salon if you're looking for a friendly, uncrowded place with a cozy atmosphere, and it was great to be able to get a mani-pedi and eyebrow wax at the same place. And they have a back garden where you can get a manicure outside when the weather permits, which I'll probably try in the spring or summer. read more

I'll start by saying it was impossible to pick a gel color since they don't have a palette with colors..you have to individually sift through shelves of disorganized bottles and brands. It says on their website that they charge $3 (per nail) design and in the middle of my manicure, the owner asked a girl who wasn't even doing my nails to let me know I was being watched on camera???? And that she wanted to charge me $6 per nail. Mind you, I asked for two nails on each hand to have a single line added. The price wasn't even what bothered me, but to tell me I'm being watched! I have never felt compelled to write a review before, but I came in about a week and a half ago and received such phenomenal service I had to. Hands down the best & friendliest staff that I have encountered in Hoboken (I'm a student & go where I find the best deal so I've tried like 3 or 4 so far). Genie did my nails and she was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. When she realized the color I picked was a bit runny she started painting and then drying each nail individually so they wouldn't dry weirdly (instead of doing all 5 then drying), despite having one of her regulars waiting. I found a Groupon deal over the summer for eyelash extensions--full set with a 2 week touch-up. No where on the Groupon does it say "Tuesdays only". It was a pain in the butt to try and schedule for a Tuesday given my work schedule and the pandemic. I offered to pay full price if I could schedule for the weekend, and they said no. Finally got an appointment after playing phone tag and leaving voicemails for awhile. I think Chyna did my eyelashes, and she was very sweet and helpful. The environment has a lot of people talking and kids running around so it wasn't very relaxing. That would have been fine though considering the end-result was great. The eyelashes looked phenomenal when they were done...but every single eyelash had fallen out within 5 days. Usually my extensions last a month. I was so disappointed after all the hassle to get the appointment. I cancelled the 2 week fill-in because there was nothing left to salvage. My mani pedi experience with Elida was very relaxing! My feet were so dry and really needed some work and she spent sooo much time working on them which I really appreciated. I came here with a Groupon and am so glad the service was not sacrificed due to the discount. The only downside is that I noticed, after getting home, that my mani application could have been a bit smoother. It also started chipping/cracking a little sooner than usual (using OPI polish, my go-to) so I'm thinking the top coat could use some improvement. Overall would definitely go again. One friend recommended me the place, so I went from secaucos. The place is so nice, the price a little expensive, you can find cheaper and nicer places in the area. The owner sky was friendly at the beginning, but then she was so rude with the employees, she thinks that she is a celebrity and she doesn't look like one, she should be more humble with her employees that do a great job. Literally, fantastic service from Alisa and the other ladies. This place is calm and relaxing. From the decor, to the aromatics, to the layout of the place. I came here with two other people - the boyfriend and the best friend - with a groupon for a spa mani and spa pedi. This place doesn't have the conventional pedi/spa chair. They bring out these pots - think paella pots - with warm water/milk/essential oil liquid. And from there, work on your feet. It was hygienic, efficient, and relaxing. The best friend raved about how good everything smelled - very fragrant compared to usual chemical-y nail salon smell. The shape and paint on both my toenails and fingernails were ON POINT. My nails and cuticles were clean clean clean!! I would love to come back here again - I'm glad that I bought the groupon. It was a fantastic deal that lead to this discovery! I just left this place and I have to first say that the pedicure itself was wonderful. the three stars are for that.It was a great way to relax on Saturday. There were however a couple things that left a sour taste in my mouth. When I arrived at the salon a half hour early, I asked if they took credit cards. I gave myself time ahead so I could get cash if I needed to. They said yes and then at the end of my service, told me I couldn't tip on the credit card. No sign displays cash tip only and I assumed when there wasn't any one telling me otherwise when I asked, it wouldn't be a problem. So with fifteen minutes before they closed I had no time to go get a tip and come back, so now I feel obligated to go back a different day. My last thing is I had gotten a postcard sometime ago with a series of promotions no expiration. When I got to the salon, the same postcard was displayed and stated the same thing so I figured I was getting 50% off my signature pedicure. Instead at the end they told me the postcard was old and I had to pay full price. I went in because I could get a nice pedicure for a good price and paid more than I wanted. I have been going to Skyy at As U Wish for 9 years. Every time Ive always left happy. If I have a request to do something a certain way that I like her response is always "As U Wish". That's so refreshing! I've been to many other salons and would usually get an attitude or a big 'ol sigh. Skyy and the rest of the staff always asks if I'd like water, coffee, tea... As far as I can remember back I've never experienced having to wait for my appointment. As a consideration I always arrive on time if not a little early and I'm serviced at my appointment time. You do need an appointment. It's that kind of salon, but it doesn't bother me because they are always ready for me when I get there. Over the 9 years I've received the same excellent level of customer service and professionalism. As I was picking out my color Sky told me my manicure was free because it was my first time at As U Wish and asked me what temperature I wanted my milk at for my pedicure. I asked "is that extra? I just want the most basic pedicure." She replied "yes, great question some salons will just do it without telling you and then charge you at the end for it." I then sat down for my pedicure and was asked by Sky what scent I want my water to be. I didn't think that was extra since it's just essential oils and I literally just had the conversation with her that I want a very basic pedicure and I thought that was understood. I was charged $45 for my pedicure (!?). It was just my pedicurist there since Sky had left and I didn't want to argue with her, but I feel bamboozled and I don't enjoy being tricked into spending more money especially after I made that clear. I don't normally write reviews, however after visiting multiple times now I have nothing but good things to say! I've now received eyelash extensions services as well as waxing, mani and pedi's. Between the amazing shape SKYY gave my brows to the flowing lashes (that no one could tell are not mine) I will be a repeat customer. This is not the place for you, if you want a quick 30 min procedure, they take their time and are VERY detail oriented. The price is definitely higher then your average nail salon, and that is just it... it is not your average nail salon. They use nothing but the best products and my regular manicure lasts 2 weeks! Not gel ladies.... Skyy uses stainless steel pedicure bowls to insure the cleanest environment. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with my eyelash extensions here. Firstly, they insist they remove your current lashes for 50$ prior to doing a fill. I just moved to the area so I needed a new place. I have had eyelashes done for about a year now. It was extremely uncomfortable and my eyes were almost raw afterwards. Then, they put lashes on which were too short and sparse, not what I had wanted at all. I did my normal aftercare and did not get them wet or apply makeup for 48 hours. Within 8 days, they have all almost fallen. I used to go for 3 weeks without them falling out. I'm so disappointed and wasted A LOT of money read more

I was invited to his nail spa by a fried and I am so happy I accepted the invitation. I live in NYC so Hoboken, NJ is a bit of a hike to get a mani/pedi but after being introduced to this amazing place no distance will keep us apart, lol. As a guy who is rather hard on his feet I'm always a little shy when I get a pedicure and it can be somewhat awkward walking in but Skyy and Margherita had me in a comfortable overstuffed wicker chair with my shoes off and with a strong cup of coffee in my hand in under 5 minutes. My friend and I were the first ones there but there was no "ramping up" for these ladies. Their energy was upbeat and positive from the second we walked in. I opted for the Toe-Ta-Lee MR pedicure because it offered a "tough buff" which is what my poor feet needed. Margherita had my feet soaking in warm water with REAL lemons floating in it. She was thorough and patient and amazing. There were no power tools of any kind involved. Everything is done by hand and with care. Margherita buffed and scrubbed my feet while I took in the amazing decor. You can immediately see how it can double as an event space, it's so well though out and decorated. Most nail salons/spas are functional at best with price list as decorations. Not here! I didn't go into the backyard patio but I'm sure I'll be there in the summer time. Skyy the owner was really cool and down to earth. I can't wait to come back with my daughter and introduce her to a successful black women running an amazing customer oriented business. I wish I could give a better review as the quality of service is excellent. Probably the best mani/pedi I've ever received. This is not a quick pop in nail place -- the pedicure alone takes like 90 minutes and is expensive (about $75), but is fantastic. Unfortunately I have to give a bad review because of the owner. I've been to the salon numerous times and every time I'm there she is nasty to the employees (who do great work) and talks crap about other people.
