Recently had a reservation here for a big party of 17. They of course seated us at different hibachi grills. The problem was they served 1 table first and then waited 30 mins until the other table was served. The atmosphere was nice but the food was extremely salty. Also, they are not the best at making mixed alcoholic beverages. read more

The 5 people in my party were seated right away at a hibachi table. It was on a Sunday late afternoon. There was a sign saying there will be charge of 20 % tip to any party over 4 people. I'm glad a saw that because they didn't inform us verbally. Ordering was easy and the service was friendly. They had gluten free soy sauce to make it gluten free. The chef was careful to not mix mine in with others, I'm grateful for that. I ordered fried rice with a filet mignon steak. It was slightly overdone but you will have that on a HOT grill. I called the restaurant and wanted to place my order and tried to say online is not giving me the options or giving me info. They hung up on me and told Me to order online. Sadly I am not writing a review on the food because we were not able to be seated. It was this past Friday night and we arrived at about 7:00pm. There were three other couples waiting to even be acknowledged before we got there. As we arrived one couple left with words being mumbled. After about ten minutes a girl asked each of us how many. We were there just for sushi as they have it on their menu. The sushi bar had no one sitting there but two employees goofing around. We were told they are too busy to serve sushi and appetizers and we could not order any sushi even if we sat at the hibachi table. If we didn't hear the girl once she kept repeating "we too busy, we too busy"! We took our business to Freddy's and had good pasta/chicken bowls. read more

The food is decent but very shady when placing online orders and checking people out. ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS HERE. This place could do so much better than what they do if they weren't always trying to cut corners and screw over their customers. If you place an online order they will change your tip to 18% (for carry out) then ask for an additional tip when you pick up your food... on top of charging a convenience fee to place a carry out order. I keep wanting to give this place another try since they're the most convenient hibachi restaurant in the Delaware area but every time I do I regret it. read more

After reading reviews and not seeing anything bad as of recent as far as food goes I gave it a shot. I ordered online and it took about 40mins to arrive, no big deal. However, it's definitely some of the worse sushi I've ever had. I got basic rolls to try. A spicy California roll, regular California roll and a Philadelphia. The fish in the Philadelphia is slimy and smells terrible. I didn't even attempt to try it. The crab salad mix used for both California rolls were very, very dry and also had a slight fish taste. The spicy California was no different from the regular. Upon opening the rolls they were crammed all together and immediately smelled but still wanted to give a try. To my disappointment they tasted exactly like it smelled and that is a very bad thing. Fresh sushi should NOT smell "fishy". For over $20 pre delivery costs and tips I would NEVER try this sushi again. Save your money and try somewhere like Typhoon. read more

My family tried this place for the first time and we will not be back. Our filet mignon wasn't the best cut and had chewy parts which was disappointing considering the cost. Our chef did a good job cooking the food, but there was no show other than the volcano. Our waiter was new, but we were only one of two tables and he never came over until the manager called him out. Then he brought everyone's bill and containers while we were eating without asking if we needed anything else or dessert. I was hoping to celebrate my son's birthday, but at that point I just wanted to leave. Our bill was a headache too, were charged $24 dollars for our nine year olds kids meal! We asked to substitute the rice and sherbet for noodles, which they did, but charged us an additional $7 dollars without informing us of that additional charge. We told the waiter we had a question about our bill and he put a finger up then walked away. We sat for five minutes before flagging down the manager. She was rather nasty about it arguing that "he's new". We said if we knew about the charge we would have ordered her an adult meal for the larger portions. She said she would take off the charge, but then she returned with our new bill and said she would only take off $3 dollars. At that point I took the kids to the car and let my husband take care of it. He said she was very rude. read more

If I could give a half star I'd rate this 3.5. Everything was okay but not great. The onion dressing on the salad is odd and not typical for Japanese steakhouses. The soup was beef broth and scallions. No mushrooms. Veggies were just mushrooms, zucchini and onions (no broccoli or carrots) and they were over cooked. Chicken was rubbery, but large portion. Fried rice is just rice, egg and soy sauce. No veggies. The best part was the shrimp. I recommend those. Our chef was very sweet but not so experienced. Minimal show. The waiter did a good job overall but seemed to have an attitude. For $20 a person you think they could have been a bit nicer. So if you are in the area not a bad choice but expect less than what you may be used to in other cities. read more

I've rode by this place a million time going up and down 23 and finally had a chance to stop with my daughter. We got there just before 2:00 and they were gracious to let us eat still (hate doing that). My daughter got the chicken yakisoba and I got the scallops. The yum yum sauce is on the sweeter side for me but kiddo loved it. Good food, better service. Will get there earlier next time. read more

I have ordered from Asahi MANY times.....At least once or twice a month for years. The food has always been good, but the ordering system online has always sucked. You can put notes in but they either a) don't care to read the notes or b) don't see them (even though your notes show up in your confirmation email). We order the SAME thing every time- extra portions- meal 1- rice and chicken, meal 2- rice, chicken, and steak. Pretty simple. Every time it comes boxed different ways even though there are CLEAR notes in the order. Today, we ordered our usual. I went to pick it up and they have 1 box----i said that isn't everything.....we looked and well, yes it was everything only they boxed EVERYTHING together (2 orders of rice, 2 orders of chicken, 1 order of steak).That's annoying as all hell, but whatever. I am annoyed at this already but thennnnnn they accompany this order with 2 tiny yum yum sauces......i ask for more yum yum as i have 2 meals (mind you this was ALSO left in notes upon ordering). He said "that will cost extra". This REALLY ticked me off.....as, again, we have ordered this at least once a month for years and we have ALWAYS gotten 4 tint yum yum sauces with our 2 meals and now all of a sudden there's a charge AND you boxed our meals together? This was not a new employee either.....this was a gentleman i have seen there many times. He was rude and unwilling to even offer an apology nor accept responsibility for disregarding notes left in the order and had the audacity to say he was going to charge me extra for something they have NEVER charged me extra for. Our first time at this new addition to Delaware. We like Japanese Steakhouse as an occasion, but found they had good choices for lunch and casual dining too. The hibachi stir fry didn't disappoint with scallops, chicken, steak and rice all done very well. The entertainment was great, and the service excellent. We felt the soup was salty, the salad dressing too oniony and the shrimp dumpling appetizer cold and fishy. That said it didn't damper the over all good feeling. The experience was not good with the food here. Ordered lunch menu. The chicken was rubbery. Steak was not medium, but was also rubbery. There is really no flavor to anything on the plate. Husband made reservations here for my birthday, we all had food from the Hibachi grill and it was just perfection. From the salad with the scrumptious house onion dressing, to the delicious miso soup to the presentation of the steamed rice and every bite from the grill. Definitely add the birthday package- they sang and brought me a fancily cut and decorated pineapple with candles and also included a framed photo of our group! Food is incomparably delicious, prepared and presented beautifully! Chef was incredibly mindful of my daughter being a vegetarian and we also enjoyed both the chicken and steak with veggies and every bite was sooo amazing, as were the dipping sauces and my Mai Tai drink. Somewhat disappointing this time around. The website has been totally ignored by management from well before the advent of covid-19. I was glad I called as there was no mention online that they were open for carryout only. Not that that was a problem as we were not planning to dine in anyways. Ordering thru their online app was adequate if a bit clunky. The time for preparation was reasonable but the pickup process was not. Upon arrival for pickup I find only the very first vestibule accessible because of their arrangement for picking up orders. Lots of west facing windows and no air conditioning on a ninety degree day made for a virtual sauna. I was only in there for 5-7 minutes, wearing a mask mind you, but came out soaked! I was also soaked by the extra charges I incurred that were not mentioned when I placed the order. There's that website neglect again. There was a simple printed sign taped to the wall indicating the price of all meals are being raised by a dollar due to the cost of meat going up. There was also a handwritten sign stating that there would be a 15% gratuity added to all to-go orders. Now, I don't mind tipping, and I do so consistently based on merit, but I truly detest hidden charges like this, especially since they could have been very easily disclosed on the website! The food tasted good all around except for the included soup which, as it turned out, was apparently not included. I don't know why I bother to order my steak medium rare as the way they cut it up before cooking makes it an unlikely outcome. Of course, as usual, the 'salad' gets its typical award for the world's least imaginative, being only lettuce, and we love the onion dressing. We also ordered a Spider Roll which tasted OK but really seemed to be a bit less than freshly made. And isn't soy sauce a typical accompaniment to sushi? We received none. One of the egg yolk sauces was packed on its side which let all of the separated oil run out making a mess of everything. We did however ask for extra yum-yum and ginger sauce which they cheerfully supplied at no extra cost. read more

I ordered the spicy squid w/ veggies and the wife ordered the seafood champon .. my dish was drenched in sesame oil and that was the only thing I could taste for the price of the dish definitely. Not worth it . For appetizers fried crispy smelt texture was good and crispy overly salted .. seafood Champon with ramen was same as any other place nothing special. WARNING: check your card statement because the amount you put on the receipt is off by @4 ++ dollars more on what they charge on my card. Happen to quite a few people already. The chefs are nice and funny but this is by the far worst Japanese steakhouse I've been to. The presentation of the plate as the chef served us our food can be compared to a dog. Just dump into our plates with rice falling to the table. There is just no appeal whatsoever. Vegetables are soggy and beef is over cooked. The review here about the miso soup being salty and salad dressing too oniony is sooo TRUE. For the price you pay you should expect variety. But this is what you get: two rubbery shrimps, overcharge fried rice, so so flavored chicken, rubber feel like beef, soggy vegetables and a sad ambience. read more

We have eaten here previously and the food has always been delicious. However our most recent order was overcooked to the point of being inedible! The sauce was watered down and the egg yolk sauce was oily and disgusting and the bean sprouts looked like they weren't fresh or were cooked on at a high temp for too long.
