The food is always good! We come atleast once a month and have never had a bad experience. We always get hibachi. The chefs are very good at what they do and always have a good show! Something I noticed is how quickly they clear empty plates and place settings and they are constantly taking the dirty dish carts to the back. Very very clean practices, small details like that always make me feel good about where I'm eating!

I'm going with a four because the food and our chef were awesome. I loved my sushi roll. It had coconut shrimp and mango and was delish! My hibachi was great too, but by the time I shared the sushi roll, ate the soup and salad, I was pretty full! Honestly, if it hadn't been for those highlights, the rating would have been so much lower due to the lady who provided our drinks and would occasionally check on us. Absolutely zero friendliness. It would seem as though she was either having a really bad day or just generally hated her job. It definitely brings the vibe down.

Hibachi was great! The Spider Roll with soft shell crab was great! Kiddos said it was the best fried rice & I think I have to agree with them! The soup was very flavorful, also! Our scallops and steak were cooked perfectly! Service was fast & friendly! The restaurant was clean and welcoming!

It was average. I don't think that the $10.50 bento was worth it, I wish there were more options like tempura. I'd pay a couple dollars for something better. The hibachi grill show was nice and they were fast. I went on a field trip with my students and they had a blast. Soup and salad were great. Con: my coworker ordered the scallops and got sick from it so steer clear from the seafood.

Tanuki is another sushi place in Powell. It's located near Giant Eagle. This is part of a strip mall. It's not the best atmosphere. They overcome it with pretty good food and good portions. It has a pretty large space inside. It's bigger than you think a strip mall place would be. The place looks pretty clean. It has the main bar area. There's also a dining room. had an asparagus roll and a peanut avocado roll. It's about $3.50 for each roll. This is pretty good because these are large. It has several TVs in the bar. Service is pretty attentive without being annoying. The value for this is pretty good because of the big portions.

I ordered the lobster roll, which has lobster tempura in it. Definitely disappointing as you couldn't even taste the sliver of lobster in each bite as it was all tempura. It could have zero lobster in it and it would taste no different as the cream and mango mask of the lack of anything else. Shrimp fried rice was disappointing as well as it was bland with a sprinkling of egg and cut up pieces of shrimp. Overall, below average and highly priced.

Today is my first one ordering from this place, and to be honest, I'm quite disappointed. I was expecting a bigger size and believe that you actually get more from grocery store sushi. All of 4 items came up to 38 ish which I think it could be better for that price.

    Allegedly spicy shrimp roll

At a loss for words. We were told it would take 15 minutes to be seated- not even at the hibachi table. We weren't seated for about an hour. Then once we ordered it took about at least an hour to get our food, which was horrible. I can say with confidence that this is the worst sushi I have ever had. The "sushi" was full of tempura and no fish at all. My friend's "sushi" was straight up purple.

Don't put so much tempura in your spicy rolls as it makes it pasty and ruins the rolls.

And who doesn't believe a cocktail will help burn the germs out of you? I know I do! The place was relatively quiet (it was like 8pm on a Sunday) so I was able to get seated immediately and my server was active and friendly all evening. After looking at the menu proudly showcasing all the Japanese spirits, I found the cocktail menu disappointingly Caribbean/tiki heavy (which I don't ordinarily mind being a rum drinker, but some drinks to match the cuisine or at least use those Japanese whiskeys and things more would have been amazing!). I opted for a New Fashioned cocktail to try and sample some of said spirit. While not bad, I found it pretty orange-y (who puts all those orange chunks into such a beverage?) and the spirit to be pretty mild in flavor (I'd like to think my taste buds weren't affected by my sickness). For dinner, I went for the miso ramen with pork chashu. Having not had proper ramen too many times in my life (those $.99 packets from the grocery store do NOT count), I've got relatively little to compare my experience to here. However, I will resoundingly say I was very happy with the food. The pork could be picked up and apart with chop sticks easily enough and was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. The noodles and the flavors were just all sooooo good. I'm not a big mushroom fan at all, but I was happy to find they were cut razor thin and actually highly enjoyable. All in all, the drink menu needs an overhaul. Why have all those great Japanese spirits and then do a 180 with the cocktail menu? Makes no sense! Almost makes me want to bump down to 4 stars... but man, the food is just too good.

The reservation was for 6pm, we showed up around 5:50 and were sat right away but waited until about 6:20 to order and begin getting soups/salads. Personally I love the mushroom soup and ginger salad, it is SALTY (which I love) but may be too much for others. As for the hibachi part, the cook does a fun show with all the staples - big fire, onion volcano, tossed rice in our mouths! He was very nice and we had a fun time! I ordered the strip and shrimp with fried rice and asked for the strip medium. The portions were HUGE and the food just kept coming. Fried rice, veggies, and shrimp were very yummy but also very salty (no complaints from me!). The strip was definitely more on the rare side which is not my preference but there was so much food it wasn't a huge deal. I had also ordered a tea with my meal and the servers were very attentive with the tea and water giving plenty of refills. For two people, including drinks, we thought the total price was pretty decent for a night out! Overall it was good service, good food, and a fun night! They do use TONS of butter and soy sauce so be cautious if you have a sensitive stomach but I would recommend for a fun dinner night spot!
