The Oishii I know and love is back!! I've waited awhile to update my review, to make sure consistency is there. The sushi is back to its high quality, both in taste and appearance. On busier nights service and take out orders can take longer, so just plan ahead. I've been pleased with my take out orders lately. If you order for a future time at least an hour in advanced, it seems to be ready on time. They have even given us beautiful to-go platters. The only reason I'm removing one star is for the fact that not all staff are not very knowledgeable on food allergies/dietary restrictions. I ordered a menu item multiple times before I was alerted that their crab is imitation and contains gluten (there are imitation crabs that do not). Additionally, I really wish they would make their spicy rolls without tempura flakes. There are a few other Columbus sushi spots that do.

This place is super cute and the service staff were very friendly! We ordered 4 speciality rolls and they tasted very fresh! My favorite was the kiss of fire because I love all things spicy!

Oishii has been in Powell for a while (former Jeni's location) and we hadn't had the chance to try it. This week we had family in town and younger member suggested we try it for a late lunch (2pm). Parking has always been a problem at this location, given they only have 1-2 spots, but we found street parking near by, with an easy walk. Note if you visit there is a parking lot 50 yds North on Liberty. Upon arrival the place was half empty, and we received a table quickly by the windows. Their bar (not sushi bar) had 4-5 seats and their Sushi bar had 6 seats that were all open. Looked like both were more energetic than the overall restaurant, given traffic around the bar and sushi station. Bar alcohol selection looked good, but didn't try it. Before we could even order, the place starting filling up and there were only two young ladies working the entire place. Our waitress Izzi was nice and helpful, but we quickly noticed they were not staffed to accommodate a rush two days after Christmas. Izzi apologized for the slow service/experience and was running around everywhere, but still numerous visitors came and left after not being greeted at the hostess stand or being told about a wait. It took us a long time to order drinks and even longer to get them and order food. As far as the food - We ordered large hot Sake and it was OK, but nothing great. Appetizer of Edamame was possibly the highlight of the day-great - simple but tasty. We decided to share Seashore Roll, Oishii Roll, Toro Roll and Chicken Fried Rice. After almost 40 mins we were told they were out of the Tuna (Toro Roll), so received a simple Salmon roll instead (price adjusted). The Oishii Roll was good but the other items were very very plain and we wouldn't order again. Overall Seashore Roll, Salmon Roll and even Chicken Fried Rice were average. I hope for the team's benefit here that we caught them on a bad day and they weren't ready for a full house or even a busy day. I'm not sure we will go back given we had a average, at best, adventure for our first visit. Too many other great places in the area.

Came here last night for more sushi. It's a great little Japanese place in Powell. Got 3 sushi rolls. And the chicken hibachi to split. Overall it was really good and just the right amount of food. I also got the miso soup to start. Which was delicious in this cold weather!!

Loved Oishii! I hope that the quality remains this way for years to come! I've been able to take a few family members here for a nice sushi treat and we are always extremely satisfied with the fresh huge cuts of fish for their sushi and sashimi. Great diversity in fish choices especially given the fact that we are in the middle of Ohio! The staff is so helpful and kind, always willing to ask to see if they can accommodate menu switches. The interior is brightly lit and spacious. Despite it getting more popular, they've still ensured the experience and quality have remain top notch! I will be coming back for sure!

We recently visited Oishii Japanese Bistro while in town visiting friends. The ambiance was moderately loud and ambiance super comfortable. The decor was reminiscent of Japanese decor. The food was absolutely amazing and delightful. Everything we ordered was hand made and well seasoned. The server was amazing and super attentive. We ordered a variety of appetizer starting with the shrimp tempura, seafood pancake, Jalapeño Yellow tail, and beef Negimaki which was thin pieces was beef wrapped with green onions. All of the appetizers were flavorful and delicious. For the main entrees we ordered chicken udon. Noodles and a variety of sushi rolls. All of the main dishes were super fresh and full of robust seasoning and flavors. Highly recommend this restaurant for the delicious and authentic appetizers, sushi, and udon noodles. All the prices were fair to moderately priced. Definitely worth the experience and the drive.

Went into Oishii as we were in the area. We used to come here when it was Jeni's many times, so it was nice to see they nicely renovated it to have more seating space. We got the rock shrimp and scallion pancakes for appetizers. The rock shrimp was our favorite. We loved the sauce, but wish there was more of it on the shrimp. The scallion pancakes were good, it was like an Indian paratha and came with a tamarind sauce. We ordered a roll and chicken hibachi to share as our entrees. The kiss of fire roll was not that spicy. We liked it, but not our favorite. The hibachi we thought was good, but would have liked a little more sauce. Overall a nice place, but took a star off because the service was not up to par that day. We had to flag down our server to get plates, straws, and water refills. There was not that many people at the time we went for an early dinner, so that was a bit disappointing.

Let me start this review by saying I can't wait to go back to Oishii again. Great good, great service, highly recommend. Soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly staff and were seated right away. The inside of this restaurants is casual and relaxing. We ordered Rock Shrimp, Powell Roll and the Salmon Mango Roll sushi and Hibachi steak and chicken. Every single dish was made fresh. The flavor, the seasoning was on point on every item, just delicious. Our server was super sweet and knowledgeable on the menu and he mostly recommended what we should ordered, and so glad we took his recommendation. Cant wait to go back and try more items!

First time being here. I attended a dinner celebration for a friend. We had amazing drinks and food served family style. The table was away from other guests so it felt private and more intimate. The service was superb. The music was a bit loud with a speaker overhead so it made it difficult to hear some of the conversation. I asked if the volume could be turned down and was immediately addressed. I would go back again.

I had a wonderful birthday dinner at Oshio. They don't take reservations, so we planned to go early, which was a good decision as it filled up. Our server was great. She handed us menus, and then pulled an annotated copy out of her pocket that flagged specialties, popular, and her favorites! We tried a variety of rolls, enough that they loaded up a boat, my first ever! They have a shitake mushroom roll, with crispy mushrooms and avocado that we got for my dad. My favorite roll was the Mount Fuji, a California roll topped with crab mix. The combo was really great. I also had to order a second serving of salmon nigiri after my dad got into it! It was very fresh and silky. I also ordered their brand new Midori martini, which was not too sweet and the signature fun green color. I enjoy Midori, but don't see it often. We just really enjoyed the whole experience and I'd recommend this as another good choice in downtown Powell.

We went right as the restaurant opened on Sunday, and had the pick of the place to sit. It's not very big, so I can picture there being quite a wait if it gets busy! Fortunately, this was not an issue for us and we had a nice quiet atmosphere to enjoy our meal. The service was great, we were immediately helped and given menus. The menu had many options, including bulgogi, general tsos chicken, and noodle dishes such as udon and bibimbop. Since we came for sushi, we opted for sushi. We ordered crab Rangoons to start with, which came in a cute boat bowl. They were decent quality and really hit the spot. Our sushi rolls were: the playgirl, the green chili, and Lovely Lady. They were each fantastic. The Lovely Lady had the most kick to it in terms of spice. The other two were equally flavorful. The seafood was high quality and the flavors balanced each other well. I'd definitely return for sushi here - they have a large variety of specialty rolls...several more that I'd love to try!

Enter the appetizer: a colossal bowl of Edamame, those humble soybeans elevated to a salty symphony. And then, like a prizefighter entering the ring, the Gyoza arrived, six pork dumplings, each a masterpiece of Japanese culinary artistry. Delectable, unparalleled, a knockout punch to the palate. But wait, the final play was yet to come. The Philadelphia Roll a triumvirate of smoked salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese graced the table. Was it merely a sushi roll? No, my friends, it was the culinary equivalent of a Hail Mary pass--bold, daring, and executed to perfection. The finest in Dublin? Without question. In conclusion, what we witnessed was not just dining; it was an epicurean event, a celebration of flavor and craftsmanship. Truly, a performance worthy of standing ovation. Bravo!

Our food took a little longer to come out, but the waiter apologized and kept checking in, which I appreciated. I enjoyed the meal and felt good about the overall quality. Where I hesitated was the value. For the prices they charge, I expected portions that felt a little more generous. I know a few sushi spots that offer the same level of freshness for less, so it's hard not to compare. The food is great, but the price point didn't fully match what came out on the plate. Still a solid spot if you're focused on quality and freshness.

From the parking lot, The Blue Sushi does not look like much, but once you step inside, the décor is refined and elegant. Now my life has changed, and I can take advantage of lunch at these places. Completely empty at noon on a weekday, a little disturbing. But, better than not being able to get in. Classy inside, nice seating options, quiet and pleasant atmosphere. Excellent service throughout. Large sushi menu, plus hot entrees, many apps, etc. A lot I wanted to try. But I had to start with the crab Rangoon tarts. Never seen it this way. Three fairly small tartlets, nice crust, with a dollop of "Rangoon" filling. Could have used more in each tart, but tasty enough. The sauce is a little zippier than most for crab Rangoon. Good, different, not amazing. And that pretty much describes the rest of the meal. Were my expectations too high? Nothing was bad, everything was pretty good, but not amazing. I had the Red Scorpion roll next. Mid-sized, a nice roll of kani, tuna, avocado, and more, topped with several sauces. Barely fit each piece in my mouth. Tasty, but again not amazing. Not what I expected from a place like this with reviews this high. A little heat, far from the spicy suggested by the name and reviews. Also had unagi and toro nigiri. Again, good, not great. Neither was as tender as I'd hoped, though decent all in all. Flavors were good on the unagi, and the toro was somewhat buttery/creamy but not on par with others I've had. Hmph. Cost was not bad, considering the decor of the place and that it's sushi. I left full but not overstuffed. I'd come back, maybe for a date night. But it's not incredible, and I guess I fell for the buzz.
