Wish this cafe had better hours and maybe it would be easier for me to visit since I don't live in the area. Absolutely loved the miso coconut latte. The sesame coconut croissant was yummy and so flakey but personally didn't love the flavor combination that much. Service was friendly and they have pretty good and big seating inside.

Came to Asano during their pop up with Mehreen Karim and tried the malted Jaggery latte and shichimi hot chocolate cookie. The latte was pretty good and sweet, but the jaggery seemed very subtle and could have been more prominent. The space inside is great for working. Lots of tables and outlets which is nice. I'd love to come back and try their menu items properly!

Big fan of this space and Asian-inspired drinks and pastries! Restaurant turned coffee shop during the day with plenty of seating, light and wifi. Music is a bit loud so may not be the best place for important meetings. Tried their asano latte (subtle miso flavor), gingersnap matcha and black sesame coconut croissant (crunchy, heavy coconut and subtle black sesame flavor). Will be back for the space and to try their morning bun!

Stopped by Asano a couple of times to check out their Asian-influenced drinks and pastries. While their execution misses the mark sometimes, it is a solid neighborhood coffee/matcha place that I can see myself visiting frequently!! Drinks: -Iced matcha latte is solid, not too creamy nor watery with a good matcha flavor -Asano latte reminded me more of a miso caramel than miso coconut. I can certainly taste the miso aftertaste but didn't get any coconut flavors. It was still good overall and not too sweet! -Cold brew - definitely better the second time with the dilution ratio Pastries/baked goods: -Matcha cookie was chewy and featured a strong matcha taste with a good ratio of white chocolate. It is very thin/almost crumbles upon touch and wish it was more chunky. -Gochujang scone has a nice spice kick towards the end. Love the cheese flavors and amount of scallions! -Miso morning bun is tasty with the sugar crystals and chewy interior -Black sesame coconut crossiant was yummy for sure! But it tasted more like coconut pineapple? Coconut flavors were prominent and perhaps it was the sugar in the coconut flake filling that gave it an additional fruity flavor (like pineapple or fig in my mind). The black sesame filling was tasty by itself but overpowered by the coconut. The croissant itself was flaky and chewy after a gentle toast. I absolutely love the space!! If you're looking for a quiet cafe to get some work done, this is it!!! I think this place use to be a restaurant so there are lots of tables with good lighting. Laptops definitely welcomed on weekdays (not sure about weekends tho). Staff are super nice and friendly!! Drinks come out at a reasonable pace (most drinks have to be picked up in the back). Unfortunately they cannot reheat the pastries on site.

Stopped in just to taste their matcha. The place is tiny but so cute! Matcha was delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful!

This is an Italian restaurant that is turned into a coffee shop in the mornings. There is plenty of seating in the back and great place to catch up with friends and also to do work from. When I was there everyone was on their laptops and phones. I had an Iced latte decaf it was ok nothing special. The barista/ guy working there was very nice.

New Pop Up Coffee shop on the UES. Open M-F until 2:30 right on 86tg St! Just had to try it. Asian inspired - two latte flavors - I went with the miso one. Pretty good. Had the matcha loaf as I went about 15 mins before closing and that was the only thing left. It was good as well. Service was alright - you do have to go all the way to the back to get your latte. Nice little wfh cafe spot as there were a few people with their laptops.

I enjoyed the miso caramel bun a lot! The matcha loaf was a bit dry and the strawberry matcha was a bit too milky

The restaurant felt homey and I could tell there were many regulars and other return visitors, for good reason! Ordered: Masala Chai ($4.50)- this tasted authentic, was nicely spiced, and wasn't too sweet. I only wish the cup was bigger. Steamed momo ($12+)- I like how you have the option to mix and match. We ordered the mixed vegetable and the oyster mushroom and surprisingly I much preferred the oyster mushroom variety. The mixed vegetable momo tasted more earthy to me. Himalayan rice set ($20.5)- this was a very nice assortment- there was rice, lentil dal, your protein of choice- (I chose beef brisket), stir fried cabbage, broccoli rabe, pickled vegetables and crisp flatbread. The only downside in my opinion was that the brisket wasn't too tender and I didn't love the beef flavoring or preparation. The rest of the items were so delicious! It can be a little confusing to find since it's a stand inside the market, not a separate store front. They carry a pretty wide variety of Asian flavor-inspired breads, pastries, cakes and cookies, including buns and some more dessert-type items. I checked out Progreso for an event this past weekend and ended up buying a few items to go: - matcha marble sponge cake $4.49: was fluffy, light and moist, good flavor of matcha and a light schmear of whipped cream in the middle. Would get this again! - taro cream puff $6.50: this was taro paste (? not sure if that's fully accurate though it felt more consistency of soft whipped taro than a traditional pastry cream) with whipped cream on top sandwiched by what I believe was choux pastry with craquelin. I think maybe because the this was sitting chilled/refrigerated for a while the top craquelin layer wasn't quite crispy anymore, though it looked nice. Personally it was a bit too much regular whipped cream, would've preferred more of a taro pastry cream. - mango pudding with fresh mango $6.50 mango flavor in the pudding was light though it was a nice tease of flavor. The texture was on the firmer side for puddings. The mangos were a bit oxidized though tasted ok, maybe glaze them or do something to maintain the color? Since this is a pretty new spot hope they could make a few improvements and blow it out of the park! I appreciated the owners' enthusiasm for sharing about their shop.

It's definitely a cozy and popular café--mostly cozy because of the size. Seating is limited, but the interior design is clean, minimal, and uncluttered, which makes the space feel calm and welcoming despite the steady stream of customers coming in and out while we were there. Food-wise, everything impressed us. I ordered the pistachio croissant, while my companions got the gochujang hot chicken sandwich and the breakfast sandwich. The chicken sandwich was especially memorable--unique, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My pistachio croissant was also great; personally, I might have preferred a little less pistachio cream or a more textured filling like almond paste, but that's purely a preference. It was still excellent. The service really stood out. They were quick, friendly, and incredibly accommodating--one of my companions accidentally dropped their sandwich, and the staff replaced it free of charge without hesitation. That kind of kindness goes a long way. The price point is amazing for the quality of food you're getting, and we felt completely comfortable lingering for several hours. Throughout our stay, there was a consistent flow of customers, which says a lot. Me and my girl was looking for a coffee shop that was laptop friendly and closed late since we came after work. I was a bit disappointed that they did not serve any alcoholic beverages as I saw a lot of good reviews on that portion. We came, we sat down on a Saturday night. There was only one person at the front and it seemed she was also managing the serving part so it did get pretty hectic at some point. We decided to order the Budae Jigae (Hot Pot), there is no way to alter the spicy level so for those who love spicy spicy, this is for you. Me and my friend was really disturbed by the fact that we were treated some type of way. Maybe it's because we weren't Korean or? Service was slow asf. It took a really long time for them to serve me my iced strawberry matcha drink. And even longer for the food. It was also hard to tag her down, and she seemed pretty annoyed that we had to ask her for multiple items. We were a party of 2 and she only gave us one set of items. I went again by myself the next day to see if it was better service and it was pretty packed. There was actually 3-4 people at the front but even then it was so hard to get someone to take my order, ask for napkins, for the check, etc. While there was no time limit on Saturday, there was a time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes on Sunday. would I go again? Maybe, but it's def veering towards the no side.

They accept both cash and debit/credit card. The line was effectively managed with no line cutters, no arguing, and nothing crazy going on. Overall, it was such a pleasant experience. Lots of people have still showed up despite the really cold weather & down-pouring. Nothing gonna stop me from getting the cute glassware. Store opened and promotion started at 12:05pm. Everyone just ordered one by one towards the front when it was his/her turn. The Vietnamese Cloud Coffee was $7.52 (after tax). Hot/iced + medium/large drinks have different set of prices btw. Staff then handed me the glassware & a free sampler bowl of their soon-to-launch either lemongrass chicken/pork rice bowl after accepting payment. Portion was definitely more on the generous side to say the least. Devoured the sampler bowl in 15 mins because I was hungry & aside from keeping the rain not getting into the food. Flavorful lemongrass chicken + appetizing pickled carrot + fresh, crunchy sliced cucumber laid on a blanket of fluffy white rice. All the ingredients went well together. This is something I would definitely buy for lunch/dinner if this item ever gets added to the menu in the future. I ordered a hot Vietnamese Cloud Coffee, a new drink on the menu. My first time actually ordering a hot drink from Tea & Milk. Usually go for the iced drinks but I was feeling quite cold. So, I needed something hot to hold in my hands. Staff called out your name when it was ready for pickup. Love starting my day off with the strong flavor of Vietnamese coffee! By far, this might actually be the best tasting Vietnamese coffee I have had in all my years. And, I'm usually not a coffee person either. Didn't taste watered down and/or heavily sweetened at all.
