Sweetest staff! Genuinely happy to help you. So nice to find here in the city where customer service seems to be so rushed or non existent at times! They do use an automated espresso machine which is usually a turn off for me with coffee shops, BUT the drinks are so well done, fun flavors yet good espresso so I don't mind it all that much :) Def recommend!!! read more

Cute aviation-themed cafe in UES. Passed by a few times over the past year-ish and thought we should try it since the cafe has managed to survive the competitive cafe scene in UES though never saw more than a few customers within. Came in the afternoon with only ~3 other customers present. The interior and menu were also aviator-themed and the staff wore aviator-themed clothes. Tried "phoenix delight" and "iced cappuccino with extra shot" and received drinks full of ice with minimal coffee flavor. It is surprising how our drinks appear the same shade of brown even though one has an extra shot of expresso. My partner is a coffee connoisseur and is disappointed by how diluted the cappuccino with extra shot tastes. It's a cute place to chill but not the place to go for serious coffee drinkers. read more

This is such a cute fun themed cafe with a great selection of food and drinks. It's an aviation themed cafe and the staff members even wear air host inspired uniforms. I had an air brulee iced latte most recently which impressively managed to get the flambé flavor from brulee without tasting overly artificial. Seating space is limited but there are a few different configurations for working or chatting. I also had a turkey and cheddar croissant sandwich with mango chutney and have also had quiche here which is good. read more

I've been going to Drunken Munkey for years, but this was my first time visiting L'avion Café. It's an adorable little coffee shop right next door to the Drunken Munkey. They have all the classics plus some unique offerings. Today I tried their iced caramel macchiato and was happy with it. The cup was lined with caramel sauce and I found the flavor to be balanced and not cloyingly sweet. The large was $6.75 which I believe is in line with other places. Cute aviation themed cafe on the upper east side! Came on a weekday morning and was the only one in store - ordered an iced coffee and a ham and cheese croissant. The coffee was okay, but the ham and cheese croissant was cold even after it had been heated. I didn't want to send it back to heat up more since I had already taken a bite, but it would have been way more enjoyable if it had been warm. This is an aviation theme coffee shop. It is a cute addition to the area. I was very into all the cute touches of this place. The arrival/departure stickers on the door was cool and fun. I went on a Saturday morning (today) and it was not busy at all though it took them a bit to make my iced latte. There are two people who work there. Not sure if they were short staffed or what but it was just a bit odd on the wait time for my iced latte. It was not that good a bit too strong for me and a bit bitter. I also had the everything croissant which was fine. I warmed it up a bit when got home and it is definitely better when heated up. read more

L'Avion is a fun new aviation-themed cafe on 92nd street next to Drunken Munkey. My girlfriend and I shared an apple turnover, almond croissant, and a coffee each. All of the food was delicious. The staff was friendly and the interior was clean + well decorated. Coffees and the bakery items all ran about $5 each. I think this'll be one of my new go-to places for a coffee! As some (hopefully) constructive criticism, the pen they were using (to write on cups to identify drink orders) ended up getting on our hands once the iced coffee began to sweat and was difficult to get off. Pros: Cute aviation theme and decor. Staff were friendly, polite, and speedy. Pastries seem pretty straight forward and good warmed up. Cons: Very small space and was overrun preteens on their lunch break. They were blocking the entrance and in general not mindful of their surroundings. Not the shop's fault but definitely made me want to get out as soon as possible. Their blocking the entrance is a safety concern. I don't think my macchiato had espresso shots pulled from an actual espresso machine. It looked/tasted like just coffee put on top. read more

There were two women on staff at the time we went and both were very polite and helpful. The service was wonderful. The ambiance of this cafe is aeroplane themed! L'Avion is an aviation themed coffee shop opened by the owners of the popular Drunken Monkey. I love the decor but as for the offerings I don't see anything that makes me excited. It's the standard overpriced muffins and croissants. I returned and had a second look and the food still doesn't entice me. They are still working on the kitchen and will be having items prepared in the kitchen in the future. I recommend you stop in and check it out for yourself. They have great customer service. The employee was very friendly and helpful answering my questions. I'm sure they will be successful if they continue to provide top notch customer service. They are currently drawing a steady stream of customers. At the time I arrived today I had a choice of seats. I'm not thrilled with their pet policy. What a great addition to the Yorkville neighborhood! My boyfriend and I enjoyed our Saturday morning here. Got the almond croissant and the hazelnut latte -- both delicious! Picture attached for the cute ambiance that echoed across the entire cafe. Love the theme of aviation! The staff was friendly and understandably they are still working out some improvements such as re-stocking the bathroom and dealing with a Saturday morning rush hour, but overall my boyfriend and I already can't wait to return. L'avion has absolutely NAILED the theme! The first time I every walked in a looked around and immediately smiled. They had a vision of what they were going for and they crushed it. After my latest visit and experience, I came to Yelp to check my crazy... I just knew there would be reviews about Seth. He is rude and thinks his sh** doesn't stink. Well it does! He is cold, condescending, and I left upset. The experience left me where I couldn't enjoy my coffee and croissant. Chirag, why do you have this person in charge after all of these poor experiences? Your place is cute and I love to have it in the neighborhood, but Seth ruins it. I wish I could give L'avion more stars. To start, the coffee is simple amazing. Everything I've had is delicious, and the assortment of pastries is always great. My favorite drink is the caramel cloud with oat milk. Service though, I dread meeting the rude barrista, as I have had several poor interactions with him, He has a way that just makes you feel like an idiot for ordering, Often he will scoff and just make you feel really inadequate. I don't know what his deal is. He makes amazing drinks. The coffee is so good it keeps me coming back. And the ambiance is really cute. L'Avion is an aviation themed coffee shop tucked away in the UES that makes such delicious drinks. My favorite drink to get there is the Cool Parisian Delight. It's creamy, sweet, but strong and is reminiscent of Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I also got a Hot Pistachio Latte that was very delicious as well. The interior is a french-aviation themed space that has cute clocks from different parts of the world and pretty furniture to compliment. The service is another story; however, my partner and I and our friends frequent this place and we've all collectively experienced a hostile interaction from the barista that is a taller man. Every time we come in we cross our fingers this man will not be serving us. He never fails to make you feel stupid about your order. I ordered a Cool Parisian Delight and added an extra shot of espresso and he replies in a short and rude tone, "You know that's 4 shots of espresso, right?" He then goes "You know it's a cold drink, right?" My partner then orders a Pumpkin Latte and gets scoffed at. I understand it is a Barista's responsibility to communicate clearly to the customer what is in each drink so they are making it correctly and to educate the customer; however, there are certain mannerisms and small 'in-between the line' interactions that are difficult to point out that make him come off rude. I understand the food/beverage industry isn't either because you do get a handful of rude customer so I don't blame him for having bad days. But it seems like every time I come, every day is a bad day for him. **This idea may be a reach but I do want to consider it: L'Avion being a french themed coffee shop and having rude service is very "in character" for the coffee shop. If management has told this barista to intentionally act rude to customers to capture the essence of authentic Parisian service, please disregard my review on his service because that is absolutely genius and I will happily revise this review. With that being said, this is not a personal attack on his character and I am absolutely not trying to get him fired. But rather, I want to bring awareness and provide feedback of this behavior to management. He makes delicious drinks and seems like he is good at what he does! Coffee is generally good, however one of the baristas who is usually there (manager?) is almost always rude/seems like he hates his customers and his job. I along with multiple of my friends in the area have had similar experiences; poor customer service is hurting business. read more

My family and I stopped by L'Avion Café this afternoon while waiting to check in at the Courtyard Hotel. It's a cozy neighborhood spot with a creative seasonal menu and plenty of great options. The barista/cashier was super helpful and patient, taking the time to explain the seasonal offerings to us. He recommended the Toasty Cloud, which was sweet and incredibly comforting.
