After spending two years researching, shopping around, and preparing to make an informed decision on buying a car, I walked into this dealership hopeful--but left feeling misled and taken advantage of. As a woman in her 20s, I expected professionalism, but what I got felt like the stereotypical, sneaky dealership experience: the kind where they assume you don't know much and take full advantage of that. I explicitly said I did not want any additional options or extras, and that was agreed upon in person. After this discussion, I went home and slept on it, and signed the next day. But when I went to make my payment, I discovered thousands of dollars in fees--over $5,000--had been added anyway. The fees I explicitly discussed taking out of the contract as they were extra and completely unnecessary. Ex: $500 key replacement for a potential future lost key. Even if in the future, I lost a car key, everything on the internet says the most expensive replacement is a few HUNDRED cheaper. Why would I pay for multiple keys I have not lost? I wasn't given a clear breakdown at the time of signing, and now I'm left paying for things I never agreed to. On top of that, they promised a full detail of the vehicle. What I got was a quick vacuum and a car freshener tossed in. That's not a detail--it's a cover-up. I was promised a full tank of gas on signing--didn't get that. I regret not walking away. They were very good about communicating with me and my bank that I used. They do offer in house financing that may have made it go even smoother but they are getting it done! read more

Sales tactic seems firm, which is fine. They weren't too upfront in regards to price. They have the car price, and then say they have their $500 fee, and then they also have an additional $995 shop fee, and their warranty fee of about $360. So dealer fee alone was almost an additional $2k and the justification was "we have to pay our guys too." Yes, but not by unethically robbing people with overpriced vehicles. The reviews were pretty spot on and I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. They were nice. But it was a little shady for them to bring me the financing options of what my monthly would be but getting my out the door price was hard to get and it wasn't clear until after they tried everything else. January 13, 2024, we saw a 2012 Honda Odyssey EX-L on Asay Auto's website, advertised as $10,995 at 140,000+ miles. Worked with Ty, a salesman. Red Flag #1: Wanted to pay cash, said they'd give me a discount if I financed. All dealers get a flat from the institution that finances (around $500 +) the loan, that's why they encourage this. When asking, Chris, the finance manager, he said it was them 'honoring the online price'. Red Flag #2: We inquired about inspecting the vehicle, they said "yes, we encourage that." In order for us to do that, they said we would have to put down a $1,500 deposit, that is non-refundable, told to us by Ty. We then asked if an inspection was done and if anything was wrong, they said no and the inspection passed. We took their word for it. After we purchased the vehicle, Chris confirmed this by saying: "Let's say you have the vehicle in the shop, getting an inspection done, and we have another customer wanting to look at that same vehicle. We're out of a potential sale because they can't look at the vehicle anymore because it's being inspected. They could have bought it as is, without an inspection, so they're out of money because of that. Then, if the inspection comes back with things wrong, we've lost a sale with you because you won't want to buy the vehicle anymore. So that $1,500 is to cover any lost sale costs." Really!?!?! Red Flag #3: Ty kept mentioning that they've received a lot of calls regarding this vehicle. Sure....you've had it since Nov 2023. Red Flag #4: They provided a worksheet that didn't add up. When involved Chris, he explained that the $1355 discrepancy was just part of the package, a GPS and a covid cleaning. This was not discussed with us as optional, even though it says on the paper that you don't need to buy it as part of the vehicle. They kept saying it was part of the vehicle package. Even after all this, we decided to take their word for it, and purchase the vehicle as is, no warranties. Nine days after the purchase of the vehicle, our check engine light came on and noticed a puddle of oil in our garage. We took the vehicle to a mechanic the next day (January 23) and upon inspection, they found several things wrong with the vehicle; which included: Catalytic Converter, Leaking Front Spool Valve, right valve cover Gasket and Rear Shocks. This quote came in the following day (January 24) at $4,000. We showed Brock, a salesman, the quote. He asked if we purchased an extended warranty. I told him no, and he said that because we bought the vehicle as is, there was nothing he could do at that moment, but requested a copy of the quote so he could give it to the owner, Richie, and he would have him contact us. We got a second opinion and that came in around $2800, finding the same problems. 3 additional visits with Asay Auto physically has gotten us nowhere. They never follow up. The owner, Richie, finally responded after a 4th physical visit and said, "That's not what my guy told me. That's not how they are trained". We demanded a refund on the covid cleaning and GPS, but the best they could offer me was $500 and for us to sign a good will form, whatever that means. He said he would send that form to us but never did. Asay Auto knowingly sold us a car to our family that knew wouldn't last long without repairs. In talking with our mechanics, they said there is no way Asay Auto didn't know, because it wouldn't have passed inspections or emissions because of the catalytic converter. We ended up paying $2,800 to get it in working condition. And a new battery. Asay Auto doesn't care about you, especially after the sale. Be very careful about purchasing from them. I get the risk of purchasing a used vehicle, but if a business is selling you a vehicle, you shouldn't have these problems 8 days after you purchase it. DO NOT GIVE THEM BUSINESS AND DO NOT BUY THEIR VEHICLES. They will never follow up with you until you just give up, because that's exactly what they want you to do. 0 stars if I could. Here is our straightforward review of our buying experience over the weekend: After our own vehicle was unexpectedly totaled, we were crunched on time and we came from out of state to look at a few vehicles. One of which was at Asay Autos. We had done our research and knew what we wanted. After test driving, we decided to purchase the vehicle. With the 2023 market, we anticipated the purchase would a simple, forthright transaction and planned to pay the advertised price. When Casey in finance gave us a breakdown of the total cost, it was more than $2000 above the listed price. This was NOT INCLUDING SALES TAX. When we asked for the breakdown and purchase agreement, only $744 was explained on the Retail Purchase Agreement (docs,safety/emissions, temp permit, etc.) The following day, as we were going through paperwork, questions about this came up. We called them for some further explanation. It turns out they charged us $1355 for "theft deterrent" and "surface protection". They told us they charge those fees on ALL OF THEIR VEHICLES. These fees were not disclosed to us as being OPTIONAL, they were mandated. They only told us the fees were for services already done such as: tracking parts and Covid disinfectant. 1. We like the car 2. We feel unsettled and misled. The high hidden fees and buried expenses feel dishonest and misleading. The paperwork leads us to believe we have some sort of contract with an outside source called "AUTTO". We never asked for that and it was never explained or disclosed to us in this way. I purchased a car from them less than a year ago , the car needs more repairs than it's even worth now. They sold me a lemon . They were aware of these issues when they sold me the car. My mechanic told me there's no way they weren't aware of these issues and that they were there when I bought the car. They lied to me they were just honest deceitful . 2012 Toyota Tundra 66,000 mi I found what I thought was a great deal for a truck online. I live 400 mi away, however was willing to drive for what I perceived as a good deal. I spoke with Ty on the phone and he assured me it was in great condition. He even took photos to show me. I informed him of my long drive in, he insisted the vehicle was in great condition. The frame was rotted with rust, rust penetrated the oil pan plug to the extent that rust was in the oil, even after a fresh oil change. They SPRAY PAINTED OVER THE RUST, which is why it looked so good in photos. The AC did not work. The transmission is leaking at the engine union, differentials are rotted and leaking, wheels out of balance and misaligned. The drive shaft is corroding with rust. Essentially a rust rotted mess. I regret the money and time I wasted driving over 400mi to visit this dealership. They are currently charging the upper end of KBB value for a truck that requires a minimum of $5000 in repairs to make it road worthy. I have had two lengthy conversations with the owner of the business, one over the phone and one over text. I informed him of the condition of the truck and the numerous defects. The truck remains at its listed price on their site. I was adamant that selling this truck to and individual with result in a major loss for the customer. He essentially said it will be their problem if they buy it and to mind my own business. To say the least, this was frustrating. Buyer beware, they lied to me with a smile on their face. Update, the owner of the business offered me money to remove my previous post. I couldn't take it, I loath predators. I'll quote the mechanic who looked at this vehicle for an inspection, "There is rust inside the oil pan, valve cover leaking, engine and transmission plug leaking, front differential seal leaking, transfer case to transmission gasket leaking, rust is eating upper control arm on driver and passenger side, serpentine belt needs to be replaced, low on transmission fluid, ac compressor not working, needs a wheel balance, and alignment. RUN!!!!! These guys are total SCAMMERS! Do yourself a favor and save yourself the hassle! After spending far too long trying to trade in a car which they underbid us for by close to $12,000 we finally were able to take our Tesla home. But it's ok because the typical scammy salesman Santiago was "going to bat" for us with his boss to get us a "great deal" NOT! Found a few things they didn't disclose wrong with it whilst driving it for a few days then lo and behold we get a call five days after we had signed everything and turned over our remaining loan on our Armada over to them that the monthly price is now going to have to go up from the original agreed upon price by $300! Making it upwards of $1000 a month. How is that legal or ok to come back five days later and change the pricing I ask you! We had had enough! My husband took it back where they tried to tell him "it's only an extra $300 no big deal." And, "Well if you aren't going to take the Tesla technically we should charge you for the mileage you used" Excuse me!!!!!!!! Not to mention the fact that they ran my husbands credit upwards of 9+ times making a pretty good size dent in his credit! And the cherry on top a few days after we returned the car my husband called over to try and ask if daughter had by chance left her wallet in the car. We couldn't get through for hours until finally someone picked up and informed us they had looked already and found nothing. Didn't bother going and looking between the seats even after we told him that it's a small lanyard and could have easily fallen through we were just brushed off. All in all HORRIBLE experience! It took them 6 weeks to get me my license plates which us absolutely ridiculous. They are just so completely untrustworthy. The car buying process was quick and smooth. Koda was great to work with! My family and I really appreciated the easygoing, laid back, no-pressure sales pitch or crazy sales tactic process. Don't take that last statement lightly. My Dad has purchased a lot of vehicles from a lot of dealership/salesman in his time so believe me, this is huge and it did not go unnoticed.  However, I can't, in good conscience anyway, leave this review without making other potential customers aware of the unsuitable situation I was put in... The vehicle we purchased had only one key and as part of the deal, Asay Auto agreed to get me a spare. Koda gave me the contact information for their key guy, Jay with High Speed Keys. My experience with Jay was vile, to put it lightly. Jay is extremely unprofessional, unresponsive and RUDE. It took me over a month and half of unreturned phone calls and voicemails to get in contact with him. After refusing to drive out of my way in the complete opposite direction I just came from, the call ended in Jay yelling profanities at me and I ended up having to go through another company to get my key made - by this point, I was relieved to work with someone else.  Initially, I would not hold any grievance towards Asay Auto. However, their response to the matter left a sour taste in my mouth. They stated, and I quote "Jay is a separate entity from us and has nothing to do with us". I understand Asay Auto does not sign Jay's paychecks. However, the assumption that your customers experience with a third-party subcontractor isn't a 100% reflection of your company is extremely naive. I had an exceptional experience with Asay Auto up until Jay. Because of Jay and Asay Auto's response to my experience with Jay, I cannot refer my friends, family or colleagues to Asay Auto. They are either completely incompetent or overt liars. Where to begin. We purchased a Ford Expedition Max from Asay Auto on 3/4/23. They were deceptive in presenting trade-in value (they included the tax benefit of the trade-in in the offer, which wasn't disclosed until deep into the financing process.) That should have been the first hint. We were assured that all vehicles were inspected start to finish and were in perfect mechanical condition. Within days of leaving the lot, the rear brakes were metal on metal, forcing us to replace brakes and rotors. $1000 repair. Tires had uneven wear due to failure to rotate. Another $1000. Oil had sludge in it and hadn't been changed. More money. A simple inspection would have turned all of this up. But the final straw was a clanking sound the engine made on start-up from the very beginning. When I finally began to realize that it didn't sound right, a 30 second google search revealed that all Ford Exp. Max had cam phaser issues, which Ford had issued a recall on for vehicles under 60k miles. (This had 70k miles). That's $4000 and a week in the shop. I contacted the owner Richie about all of this and he responded "Did you buy our extended warranty?" No, I purchased your vehicle, that you said was inspected and ran correctly. We're not talking about extended warranty - we're talking about the car you sold me that had obvious, known defects, and if you'd conducted even a basic inspection you would have turned that up immediately. They also failed to collect certain signatures from us to finalize the trade-in, and when I asked for a compromise, (I'll sign if you cover a % of the repairs), they immediately got nasty and started threatening to file legal complaints with the state. We bought a Jeep for my 17 year old son with an "extended warranty" 2 months ago, and it's been in and out of mechanic shops for the last month. It's cost us an extra $8,000 just in repairs and labor to get it running smoothly. My mechanic says the sales guys put heavy oil in the engine to cover up the sound of the damaged engine, and then when we changed the oil, all hell broke loose and now we've had to replace the camshaft, head gaskets, coolant leaks and water pump, lots of electrical problems, the list goes on and on... And when my mechanic got all the engine taken apart, he said there were all kinds of weird mystery problems from someone trying to cover up bad jobs, and that just the #4 piston was replaced which is very strange. He thinks it was probably a salvaged car, but I told him it was a "clean title" and he said that if the owner doesn't go through insurance, then it doesn't ever have to be declared as salvaged or rebuilt or branded title. He thinks it was likely submerged in a flood. The warranty refuses to pay more than $3,000. Such a rip off. I'm a widow and don't know much about cars, and I thought I could trust these salesmen. They seemed so nice and caring. I was wrong. Please don't trust anything they say. It's all lies and scams. So sad. My teenage son is learning the hard way about how the world takes advantage of his single mom, and it's been an expensive lesson with money that we don't have. Such a nightmare. STAY AWAY! read more

Recently purchased a sequoia, was told the battery was new. When the car wouldn't start less than 500 miles later, I had to pay $1200 for repairs and $150 for a new battery. The title was sent to me, and obviously the purchase price had been changed, it was confirmed by the previous owner that the price had been changed, this is ILLEGAL! when I mentioned this to the owner of ASAY AUTO, his response was "why does it matter to you?" It matters that you are will to falsify document, and lie about the vehicle. I felt like I had a pretty woman situation going on lol well I guess I did not get a good approval on a car and they pretty much wanted to send me on my way without giving me any information. They said the finance manager was not available that day but afterwards I found out because I called back multiple times that there was somebody that could help me in the finance department. They just didn't want to (I'm assuming). They didn't tell me how much I was as approved for. That's what I wanted to know. They didn't offer another, less expensive car, they were not helpful whatsoever. I felt kind of dumb. I even called them two times after that to see what I could get approved for two times they told me they would call me back and they didn't so I called them and they finally told me the amount I was approved for, they didn't even ask me if I could cover the rest and I definitely could have. Do NOT buy from Asay Auto. They will scam you. We bought a 2012 VW tiguan on 8/24, we were aware of a tension pulley that needed to be replaced (by our own finding, they stated the car was in a good condition and just had work done on it.) The salesman said that the car had an inspection done on it and that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. One day after we bought the vehicle the oil pressure light came on. We took it into a shop on 9/26 and had the timing chain replaced as well as the oil pressure sensor. They also had found fibers in in the oil pan filter. That cost us $2,700. We're a low income family and cannot afford that on our own, we borrowed money from my father to get the car fixed. We went in to talk to Leo on 10/12 and brought it to his attention that we were having problems with the car. The owner refused to help us because I wrote a bad review because our experience with them was not good. We were still having problems with the oil pressure light, so we parked the car until we were able to afford to have it get looked at again. On 11/1 we took it into another shop and got told that we need a new engine because the engine is getting pressure 50% below than what it's supposed to be getting. They stated that this could have been avoided if a thorough inspection had been done. It's going to cost atleast $5,000 for a new engine. I messaged Leo again on 11/1 to bring to his attention that a new engine was needed. We went back in on 11/3 with my father to resolve this, the owner was away on vacation and we were told that the owner wouldn't be able to do anything until he was home. 8 days later on November 13th, Leo messaged me back and said they have a 2016 Chrysler 200 that they're potentially buying. We told him we're interested in doing a trade in but that we're only approved for a $9,000 loan. He stated that we would have to get a loan above that. He messaged me again on 11/18 and said that they have a Hyundai Sonata for $15,500. I stated multiple times that we cannot afford anything over $9,000, he was get trying to put us until vehicles that we cannot afford. At that point, we just wanted to get rid of the car and asked if they could buy back the vehicle for what we owe. Leo said they can't do that. I contacted Ricks muffler to ask what was done on the car since it was serviced on 5/09 and 8/24. They told me that it was brought in because the oil pressure light came on so the oil pressure sensor was replaced. We bought a car to drive it, not to spend thousands of dollars in repairs and have it sit in our parking lot. I originally took down my first review hoping that the owner would work with us. They knew that the car was having the issues that we have been currently having and sold it to us without making us aware of the issues. Richie Asay took advantage of me, my partner and our son. I didn't end up purchasing the car I wanted after they started throwing on fees that totaled in the thousands of dollars. Look if you're going to buy a used a car you typically have a budget and then adding on thousands of dollars after the fact is just messed up. There is no other dealership that charges you and tries to screw with you more than than these guys. January 2021 we bought a 2017 Yukon xl. The sales person was very nice and the process to get it was easy. On the way home which is 90 miles away several things weren't working. They were closed by then, so we called Monday morning. They were good and said bring it back up. They had their mechanic look at it and they said they did the rewiring. we picked it up and still some f the electrical wasn't working. It was a painstaking it backhand getting rides home. They said since we had bought the extended warranty we could take it to a local mechanic which we did. It had several modules out. We ended up paying over $800 to get those fixed. Say Auto paid $200 on their end. Our mechanic said it looked like the vehicle had been driven through a ravine with all the stuff in the under carriage. He was also able to look up info on the title and it should have been a branded title, but since it came from Canada it didn't show branded in the US. I do remember being told when we bought it they couldn't give the vehicle history because it was from Canada. We continued to have problems and it was discovered the transmission was bad. We took it to Auction Transmission in Provo. Our warranty would only cover $2400 and we had to pay the other $3000. The warranty then told us we had only paid $3000 for the warranty and we had used that all up so nothing else will be covered in the warranty. That is not how they made us understand how the warranty would work. The guy had told us it was bumper to bumper and would cover anything up to 150,000 miles. We aren't even close to 150,000. We still have a few more things to fix, but need to wait till we get the money. They didn't budge on price, so it's not like we got any deal on it. We should have kept our old one.
