Dishonest and not-transparent. Left feeling like I had been ripped off, which is exactly the fear everyone rightfully has when going to a used car dealer. I absolutely regret trusting Plate Auto Sales. Here's what happened to me: 1. After negotiating and agreeing on a price for the purchase, I shook hands with the sales rep who sent me back to the finance office to complete the transaction. At that point they charged me upwards of $1,000 of 'hidden fees' that they did not disclose during the entire sale process. They said the fee was to cover "overhead." In every other business, the cost of overhead is built into the price of the product. It's dishonest and sleazy to just throw it in at the end as a hidden fee. An honest person just tells you what the actual cost of their product is and lets you decide. 2. Immediately after getting the car home and washing it, I discovered that the layer of dirt that was covering the car when I purchased it was hiding the fact that the entire car was hail damaged. The damage is extensive enough to total the car. And there was absolutely no mention of that damage during the sale. It was evening time, the sun had set, and the dirt covered it so neither I, nor the mechanic I took it to, caught the hail damage. Do not accurately describe or display their cars. We drove over an hour and a half to see a vehicle that was described as having several features and no damage. When we arrived, we found that it had NONE of those listed features and two points of damage, one that was fairly significant. Even the interior color descriptions did not match. Was not impressed at all. We went home and I was going to chalk it up to a simple confusion/error but noticed today that they have posted all of the pictures of the van and "conveniently" took all pictures from an angle to hide the damage. I can't recommend buying through this dealership. I bought a 2012 Mercedes roughly 6 months ago and the car is a dying piece of garbage. I still owe over $13,000 for this car and the only way to keep it running is a completely new engine. The car was also having issues just a month after purchasing. When JP told us he'd get the detailing teams on cleaning the car I had just bought, I picked it up the next day only to find out their "detail teams" are just the group of men with "fat fingers that can't get into every corner." His words, not mine. Again. Spend a little $ to make more $$. 2. They said they would fix the bumper with new clips and by the time I drove off the lot and got home, the side of the bumper had fallen only to reveal double sided sticky tape. Crap work. I had to return again. And leave it with them for a full day. I swear, if the clips aren't attached properly, my son has threatened to take matters into his hands to get it done the right way with these useless and unskilled people. Seriously. Basic business: if you say you're going to do something and the other party agrees to it, then that is what is expected and should be done. Not at Planet Auto. Oh man, the personal items I found in the glove compartment of the previous owner that would make anyone uncomfortable with a stranger (that's me) having in my possession Again, would it kill ya to clean the damn car? Ya would've found it easily and properly handled that situation, meaning, returning what was there to the previous owner. The previous owner obviously had no intention of leaving in the car. I would've been MORTIFIED had I left such valuable things in my glove box. But no, Planet Auto didn't even look. Previous owner, with little children, be glad I'm a DECENT human and took care of the items left behind. I could really SLAM Planet Auto if I was more specific. But I won't be. Buyer beware! When we test drove our car they brought it to us already running and see we did see any of the "maintenance required" notifications that would come with in the first 2 seconds of starting the car. We also did not know that the electronic key fob didn't work to unlock the car. After we bought the car we started it to leave and noticed the maintenance required notification come up and said the oil was past due by 2k miles. We let them know and they said "sorry we can't do anything about it now. You should have told us before you bought it." They would not budge or help at all. Then when we got home and we tried looking the door with the key fob but it wouldn't work. We changed the battery and still nothing. We called them the next morning and let them know and once again they said sorry we can't help you, you should have told us before you bought it. The key fob has the key that flips out to start the car but you needed it to lock or unlock the car. We also had them to detail the car twice because the first time it didn't even look like they did anything. The car was priced well. It had a clean title and it drove well. We are hoping that there are no underlying issues since they have shown that they have zero customer service. read more

Ok, so I just got a slamming deal on a Land Rover from Planet Auto. I wasn't looking for anything expensive, and frankly I needed to buy something with cash, so this car seemed perfect. Phillip helped me out, and he's a stand up guy. Really enjoyed the conversation, and especially the candor. I'll be frank -- I have worked for the slimiest, most depraved auto dealer in Utah, so I know my way around gimmicks, double speak, and bull crap. The guys were 100% honest with me, and when they realized I knew the industry, they backed up their honesty with information proving their good faith in the deal. These guys don't buy wrecked cars (FYI - auto history reports are a joke - most the used cars you've bought have been wrecked), they price more accurately to the market, and their family is the good sort (look at my last name -- I could be going to my family's dealerships). I bought a car from this dealership in February on the condition that they replace the missing cargo cover in the trunk. It has been 10 months of constantly calling them and asking for that part, and them assuring me they're working on it, and I STILL don't have the part. On top of that, the check engine light came on a month after I bought the car, and it has cost me nearly $4,000 trying to fix the issue, which seems to be the entirety of the engine at this point. !!!!PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! In December of 2019, my husband and I purchased a 2016 Hyundai Elantra with 55,000 miles from this company. We have now had it for a little over a year and a half, have put another 30,000 miles on the car and these are the things we have had to deal with already: 1. The battery when we got the car was being held together by putting a screw in between the battery and the cable to hold in place due to being the wrong size. Notified them within a week of buying the car, they did nothing about it. 2. An entire strut was bad on the car, they failed to tell us about it, and we ended up having to get the whole strut replaced in order to fix the alignment of the car, they took no responsibility for the lack of information. 3. After hitting about 85,000 miles, our entire transmission needed to be replaced. After going to the dealership, talking with the sales manager who sold me the car, and after following up trying to get a hold of the general manager, I heard NOTHING, and nothing was done on their end. I had to pay $2,800 to fix the transmission. 4. 2 weeks after fixing the transmission, the air conditioning goes out, and the mechanic tells me that the compressor is bad, there is a mechanical issue, and he goes on to tell me that the ENGINE is about to go out as well. I understand that there could have been more research on my part prior to purchasing the car, however, I feel this dealership completely took advantage of my husband and I by selling us a car they knew was a LEMON. We are now stuck dealing with this car and the dealership is taking no responsibility. The owner Jared and salesman JP sold me a Jeep Cherokee that I knew was at a good price when I bought it 6 months ago. They said in there add and over the phone it was just related to a small water leak is why they are selling so cheap. I checked any recalls with my dealer mechanic and the story seemed to check out. I test drove it , it over heated as expected . I agreed to there reassurance that there local dealer said it was due to what they said, a minor leak. My error and did not meet there mechanic. I towed to Los Angeles. Within a week my dealer said the engine was blown and anyone would have know this. I told JP and he denied any knowing. Until our Jeep dealer in LA pulled the file from the UTAH dealership that started the repair work, it stated JP and PLANET AUTO clearer knew the issues and quotes him saying they want to sell it anyway. It took 6 months to get the car running. I had to make car payments and insurance payments. By Gods grace Chrysler Jeep covered a failed engine and exhaust system. Over $16,000 in work. JP and Jared lied despite Chrysler's good-deed! We go lucky ... do not trust these con men. I gave them 20 chances to redeem themselves... I wanted to trust them every time. Called in 4 hours ahead to have a car waiting only to have to search for a sales man so we can give them our $$$$$$ Finally find someone who couldn't break away from watching tik tok videos but he finally sacrificed some screen time to have one of his minions open the car. THEN they send us in a car with no gas a flat tire a seat belt I had to hunt for the correct attachment because it was buried in the cushions On top of the fact the seat belt had no tension at all meaning it was BROKEN !!!!! Next I helped them.clean this nasty dirty car by throwing someone's used water bottle on the ground seems par for the course on this lot! This is a TOP level LOW life car lot with lazy scammers that don't do the basics. Beyond pissed we only went around the block because if anything happened to my child they would have had alot more than a lawsuit on their hands. Issues that were more than likely there beforehand as it started at random (car wouldn't start, it would try to turn over, & then sputter & die) & would only happen maybe twice a month but now it does it half the time we go to start it. Seemed like an ok place, there were a couple fancy cars out front to show off, get your attention and say hey look at me. Really though they had a Jeep that my daughter liked (which I wish we were a little more patient and kept looking because we have had nothing but problems with it but I guess that is what you get when buying a used vehicle from a shady dealer). Anyways she liked it and and we had already arranged financing with her credit union so it was an easy deal, they worked with us on price (only took off $500, better then nothing I guess ) but that did take a few calls to the "boss" just to get that done, guess I would expect most dealerships to do at least that in this situation where they didn't have to do anything but a little bit of paperwork. They were also short handed on sales staff, the lot tech or detailer is the one that helped us (I don't remember what he said he did there but he was not sales) and he didn't know what he was doing, he apologized over and over, (I'm sure they still made a boat load of money) There was an IOU or promise to fix signed to get some blown speakers replaced and a special tool that was missing from jeep to removed the roof panels. They never once called us about the repairs, we had to call them over and over and over to finally get the speakers replaced about a month later! Then they said they would not replace the tool to remove to top as promised, you can just get them on Amazon for a few dollars. Not cool right? Reason for the 1 star (instead of maybe 2 or 3) is after the deal was done and we were leaving with the Jeep and the owner confronted us to congratulate us and said we got a great looking vehicle then pointed out there were a few plastic pieces missing from the front and he would get them ordered for us no problem. We tried over and over to find out what was going on with getting these pieces after we were told they would be ordered by the owner and they just blew us off said they have no record of it and there were no parts there for us. I know that most dealerships are shady and it's all about money but why would you point out something after the sale and say you will get it fixed then fail to follow through with what you said you would do. Listen folks, I know dealerships are a dime a dozen these days and you would think that they would want repeat business and referrals right, but I just want it out there that this is one I will not go back to nor will I ever recommend to anyone! DO NOT BUY FROM PLANET AUTO So as all dealerships they are good at gaining confidence, but by personal experience don't truly care for the customers. I bought a car with a clean title that should have run for a long time. After a week it broke down, and they couldn't spend $50 to help me on the car. Turns out the car has been in an accident. I took it to another mechanic and he asked why I had purchased such a bad vehicle. So why would they lie to me? Not very honest people to deal with. So I have a neighbor who's name I won't address cause I wouldn't want problems for him especially if this man who answered phone is his boss! My neighbor which is a very great mechanic fixes all the neighbors cars for a decent price in our neighborhood well he was working on this particular Sat and I didn't personally have his cell number so I went over and asked his son Corbin to call and see if his Dad could possibly get me in to check out my Audi before I'm to leave on road trip driving 3 days to Pennsylvania, Well the son couldn't reach his Dad on his cell phone so the son called the Planet Auto shop for me to get in touch with my neighbor his Dad well the man who answered named Cory was very rude and unprofessional only yelling at my neighbors son about calling the shop for his dad that real customers won't get through cause he's calling his Dad! Well I just can't believe how unprofessional this guy was so I called and let him know that I asked my neighbors son to call cause we had no luck reaching the Dad on his phone anyways this Cory guy rude towards me also said Brody wasn't there hadn't been at all that day ! This was of course a lie ! I give this place 1 star for such awful customer service however my neighbor Brody Olson is a great guy really good customer service and he is an awesome mechanic! I hope I am not getting him in trouble for he did nothing wrong. I ended up going to jiffy lube paying an arm and leg because of this Cory jerk! Brodys son got the wrath of it for doing me a favor. I went and checked this van out and it had leaks EVERYWHERE. I know because I spent $150 for a pre-purchase inspection from an actual Dodge Dealership! They told me that there was a bad oil leak. They also said there was coolant leaking from one of the heads and the windshield was cracked. Felt like they knew of the issues, but tried to hide them. Not very good business practice! read more

Buyer beware! Almost every car we drove had at least one major problem. Finally found one that was decent. A: Should have purchased the extended warranty, B: Taken it to a mechanic before purchasing, or C: Run away. The evening we took our car home the battery was dead, radio quit working, and a transmission shudder. Took it back the next day they did replace the battery and radio but told us the transmission shudder was normal. Should have known.....took it to a mechanic $1600 repair. Asked for help but nope they wanted us to take it to their friend "Marcelo," when asked for his business name so we could check references or call him to inquire about a warranty they did not provide the info. Elected to go with our mechanic and get a 2 year warranty out of the deal. Was told this is why they offer warranties, but see now we can't until repair is made because vehicle can't be certified; funny that it could be certified the day of purchase with a faulty transmission.
