Every time I come in for acupuncture with Dr. Shen, the process is smooth from start to finish. The insurance and billing process is also very easy. The front desk handles everything for me, and I only have to pay my copay, which makes each visit stress-free. I have been seeing Dr. Shen for the past couple of months and have completed about 11 treatments so far. She has helped me with several health concerns, especially my back pain, which has improved a lot since starting treatment. What surprised me most is how much she has also helped with my allergies. I can breathe so much easier now. Dr. Shen is very busy at the Pleasanton location, so sometimes I drive to the Fremont office to see her. I come on average every 3 weeks and having both acupressure and acupuncture, the notice since the end of last year is noticeable! (I think partly down to more stretching alongside the treatment). Often asked questions: Q. Does it hurt? A. Not really. It can be a little uncomfortable in certain spots but not painful, if you feel it does hurt or is too much you can always ask to ease up on the pressure. Q. Does it leave marks? A. I bruise VERY easily, I also have a high pain threshold so have been left with a few small bruises but nothing from the Needles used in acupressure. Q. How long is a session? A. My sessions last around an hour in a nice comfortable room. Ben also makes sure everything feels good before I leave. Q. How long does it take to notice a difference in how you feel? A. I noticed a difference after the first session. I did notice the pain returned fairly quickly but continuing regular treatments is having a more lasting effect. My period came back two days after! I also had awful, debilitating back pain that was keeping me from walking at the end of the day and he worked on that area and two days later, pain is gone!!! They noted that it could be gut health and/or due to my jaw clenching (which yes, I do). They did a combo of cupping therapy and acupuncture. They were wonderful about starting me off at 2 times a week, then informing me I could go down to 1, to suggesting every other week, to flat out letting me know that I could simply call them if I started getting pain again.
