Had a $24 drink where the waitress literally heats up a cinnamon stick with a torch for like 6 seconds and nothing else. Lame When you pay they have a handheld device the waitress holds when your insert card and can see how much you're tipping. Unprofessional to be guilted into tipping more and it starts at a 20 percent option up to 30. Maybe in a few years they'll start at 30 percent. We had our school gala here last night, set to have 330 people, I am not sure in the end what the total was, but can say that they did a beautiful job managing the volume in a fairly smaller space than we typically have (Chelsea Piers, Hammerstein Ballroom). The room is lovely, muted colors showcasing the fabulous bar & view of Columbus Circle. You really do not have a view of the park between the wire globe and the orange man tower. But the 4th floor perspective allows you to see all the way down CPS. In the daytime, maybe there is more park to view. I am unsure how anyone can expect to view a sunset over the park when the window faces due east, the park is north and the sun sets in the west beyond the Hudson. The food was excellent, better than most with a well done display of sushi. Drinks properly made, sadly the Pappy was not included with our open bar ! (of course). You can enter via the Lincoln Jazz side or the main entrance and head left towards the elevators, this way you'll see the iconic bronze Adam & Eve sculptures, rubbed for good luck in all the gold places. read more

We didn't expect much when we randomly walked into this place, but it turned out to be a fantastic spot for cocktails and light bar bites. Very nice lounge in Columbus circle. It's on the 4th floor so I have to disagree with all the "great views" comments, especially if you come at night. Drinks were good but pricey, lots of edible glitter, smoke, the works. They have some light snacks, I enjoyed the tater tots. Ascent bar and lounge was an absolute vibe. It is on the 4th floor of the Columbus Circle mall, which provides a beautiful view of Columbus Circle and some of the park. It's dark, elegant, the bar is beautiful with an incredible amount of options. We did not try the food menu as we had just eaten, but our cocktails were delicious and the service was outstanding. We actually ended up moving to what is called the Center Bar (it is a part of Ascent Lounge but located right next to the front door) so that we could enjoy the Holiday Lights in the mall. As you can see our view of them was spectacular. This would be a great place to go with a group of friends, they could certainly accommodate groups of larger sizes as it is so spacious in there. I used to come here all the time when it was Stone Rose Lounge whether on my own or dragging friends along with me (who would wonder WHY we're going to a 'mall' bar/restaurant). I recently took my fiancé here to show him one of my old stomping grounds that had clearly been rebranded. He actually enjoyed thankfully (after disliking other popular restaurant/bars in Columbus Circle). I find the place to be dark and brooding, but welcoming with many amazing concoctions to choose from. read more

The hostesses took great care of me. The menu item I wanted, saw online, they sadly didn't have that day. The drinks are definitely the star of the show, they have a wide selection that you can choose from. Came here for a NYU alumni event and it was a very nice location. The appetizers were aplenty and the bartenders were great! I loved for this event how they had a woman wearing a dress holding cocktails that was so unique. It's not a huge lounge but it's definitely big enough to have a good time. read more

It's expensive but totally worth the price. It is a true delight packed in a glass; bourbon, maple syrup, cherry bitters, orange juice, Brandied cherries etc etc etc. The presentation is also fancy, the bar tender smokes it out in front of you and yes the taste lives upto its hype, though a bit on the sweeter side. I would love to visit this place again and try a few more cocktails. I think they do know their alcohol though same cannot be said about the food. We reserved at this lounge as we had an event at Lincoln Center. There is affordable parking right around the corner which was awesome. We were able to rebook the time for our reservation as we were running late. The atmosphere was great. The waitresses/waiters were very attentive. I should preface this as being a pre-pandemic review. Ascent has a special place in my heart. I would often visit on nights in college (over 21 of course) and grad school, and feel like I could just relax. Despite probably being the youngest patrons there, a friend and I found comfort at sitting at the bar and watching the cocktails be made up close! Yes, the drinks are expensive but they are so well-crafted. We were always treated great by Fidel and Matija who went above and beyond to start recommending unique drinks they thought we'd like by remembering our past orders. My favorite is the Mother of Dragons Mojito - came with dry ice smoking on the top that lasted a while. Very creative and pretty design. The Librado Luxe also came with a smoking wood design. When you order on their menu, make sure you choose the cocktails with the * on the side, as they're the ones with the interactive/moving parts. Confused we ask what are you talking about he then states that no Athletic gear on Saturday so me with my plain skippies and my friend with her "super Athletic Jordan's" couldn't sit at the bar.... I advise that I was just there a couple of weeks ago and this was never mentioned anywhere on the website nor was a requirement. Matija Rajak then tells me one of the owners came in last Friday and seen "the people" inside and was really mad and implemented the rules. Now let me reiterate when I first visited the establishment I was excited to see such a mix of people in which made me want to tell other people about this place and plan events, where there was such a colorful mix of people. My return was met by the unt unt jersey crowd and not much else because it was actually empty. I was told the other white patrons was allowed to have on sneakers because they came in before 8pm I arrived at 8:15pm. After deciding to take my money else where to the piano bar directly across from ascent I casually watch the same host and manager let in loads of white people in with shorts, tennis shoes, docks and other seemingly athletic gear.... A total disgrace and I advise anyone who like to be treated with respect and equality to go elsewhere.... Do better!!!! This is New York City we're not accepting the passive aggressive racism nor classism BS anymore! This city is one of the most diverse cities in the world to come here and post up shop is to accept and honor that diversity! After the Pandemic it's amazing to see some of the hardest hit industries try to sneakily regress back into low tier scummy policies that had y'all practically begging to stay afloat Lastly me and the other black yelper have no affiliation at all!
