I don't usually write reviews, good or bad, but this establishment forced me. I ordered delivery for 4 people, standard menu items. They charged an $8 delivery fee and I added an 18% tip. It took an hour and 20 minutes to arrive from the time of my order. I called them twice; once at the 50 minute mark and once at the 80 minute mark. The second time I called the woman on the phone told me they were not a fast food restaurant and it takes as long as it takes. I was about to tell her that I would not be ordering from there ever again, but she hung up on me before I could say anything else. Rude beyond belief! When the food arrived, the meat was incredibly dry, especially the lamb. The Naan bread was terrible and most of the meal was rice. Do not patronize this awful "business". I should also add that I live less than 2 miles from this place. The delivery person just laid my order on the porch and didn't say a word. No 'thank you', 'sorry it took so long', nothing. Worst food and delivery experience I've ever had. This "restaurant" should be out of business. Lousy, lousy, lousy! I gave it one star because I want this posted. We loved their food! For my daughter's birthday we catered kabobs, rice, chickpeas and shawarmas. Our guests enjoyed all the food, especially the kabobs and sandwiches! The kabuli rice was very flavorful. We enjoyed is all and Raza was very responsive to work with. read more

My family and I are pretty excited that we have a kabab place in Ashburn, because we are usually driving to Centreville or Herndon to get some good kababs. The name suggests this place would be like any other kabab place with traditional sides, but they do have some sort of fusion going on as they offer burgers and sandwiches and other American sides with kabab entrees. We ordered a variety of items, chicken, beef and a burger with rice and naan. The naan was a bit disappointing because it seemed like a pita bread warmed/baked, but we all enjoyed the food overall. The kababs were excellent; they were very well cooked, were moist, and seasoned the right way. I was a little skeptical about the burger when we ordered, but was very happy with it. The owner is going through establishing the place, but was very welcoming to us. He made sure to come and check on us during and after the meal to make sure that everything was okay and asked for feedback so he can improve. He seemed very genuine and cared that his customers have a great experience. I would recommend this place to others, and will definitely return. read more

Well, we have ordered from this place before and it was good. Today, the portions were cut literally in half. I called to ask for the manager, as the portions were not what they were in the past. He could care less. Argued with me and offered no apologies or remedies and told me to deal with it. I told him that if that was the normal portions I would have not called. We tried this spot right after moving to the area and we were so pleased! The flavor of the food is perfect and so satisfying every time, and the service is quick and friendly. Ordering their family size meals with sides gives us enough food for an evening meal and lunch the next day. One of my favorite items is the spinach because of how delicious they season it! A kabob restaurant in Ashburn is pretty much as rare as they get. I discovered this little gem of a place by happenstance while coming out of another nearby establishment and was pretty excited that its walking distance from where I live. I will go ahead and say that I actually didn't eat here that evening, but decided to grab some dessert which I'll talk about later. Their menu had an ample variety of Afghan delicacies which I plan on sampling one by one whenever I get a chance and more reviews will follow. As for decor and ambience, I liked the simplicity of the place, it was well lit and had enough seating for the average amount of guests for the time being. I do hope they get more and more customers to the point where seating will become an issue, I see that happening as the word spreads. The dessert we got is known as Firnee, a rice pudding popular in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and of course Afghanistan. I have sampled Firnee from different parts of the globe and this particular one was very good indeed. The right amount of sugar, and milk, not an overwhelming amount of rice and I loved the sprinkling of powdered nuts and cardamom on the top to bring a nice flavor and texture with each spoon. Nicely done. On a side note I'm sorry to have made a sizable mess near the check out counter in my short time there. The young lady on duty was very kind and did take care of it immediately, and made sure me and my little nephew were alright but I still felt pretty bummed out. Overall again I'm happy to have some variety in the neighborhood restaurant scene. I will drop by from time to time to sample their offerings and I wish Ashburn Kabob the best. read more

Reading all the reviews, I don't know if it's a bad night or if it was because we did delivery. Our food wasn't great, very salty (we both got the gyro platters). Love this place! I just moved to the Ashburn area and was so excited to find an Afghan place that delivers with such great reviews. I have never been disappointed with their food. The food is always good, the kabobs are never burned or undercooked (which is usually not the case for some other Afghan restaurants I've been to). Delivery is also quick. I wish the mantoo was better but it satisfies my craving. Being Afghan I just don't think I'm going to find home cooked mantoo at a restaurant. read more

My husband and I have been ordering take out from this restaurant religiously since it has been under new management. The owner is incredibly sweet and tends to you as if you're a guest in his house. It's a win for customer service every time. The restaurant itself is well kept and decently sized in case you decide to dine in. We typically order mantu or the combo platter for four, which not only feeds my family of four, but also has us competing for leftovers the next day lol. I know i am going to have a delicious dinner when i order from Ashburn kabob. They are close to my house so its a convenient location. I ordered kobideh (chicken and beef), it comes with rice and a side of chick peas. Kabob are very tender and flavorful. My friend also ordered lamb chops which were delicious. My husband tried there gyro sandwich with fries which were also delicious. They have plenty of seating, parking and also offer takeouts. Tonight's experience really deserves a 2 or 3 Star, but because we had such a positive experience the first time, I'm merging the two reviews. Quick review, then details: Pros: - Good bread (naan), a bit fluffy for my taste, but good. - Large portion of rice, 1/2 white, 1/2 qabuli - Firnee was delicious, large portion (possibly enough for 2) Cons: - Delivery fee $8 - Meat dish is "hit or miss" - good lamb chops, good kubideh, chicken was not satisfactory, tenderloin was inedible The first time, I had the lamb chops and my husband had the kubideh (seasoned ground beef) for our dinners, and we both had the firnee (milk custard) for desert. That dinner far exceeded both our expectations, although we ordered for delivery, which tacked on a huge $8 delivery fee. We both especially enjoyed the firnee, which is why we were disappointed when it was unavailable for tonight's order. Since it's the end of our vacation we decided to splurge, pay the $8 delivery fee and order again. Online ordering is not too bad, but we did need to open a second tab for meal descriptions in some cases. Immediately after ordering, we received a phone call explaining that they were out of the firnee and would we want the baklava? We declined. Not a big deal. I did not mean to suggest that it was any kind of deal breaker. It happens. And we had ordered appetizers, so.. plenty of food. The naan was good still, a particular favorite of my husband's. His meal, lamb and chicken kebab - the lamb was good, the chicken was "rubbery" (his word) My meal, beef tenderloin kebab - tough and chewy. Don't get me wrong, it looked good and smelled fantastic. It looked to have been cooked correctly and it was spiced quite well, as my last meal was. I'm not an expert exactly so I don't know if they could have known that there was something wrong. I was pretty happy when I started, should have been concerned when I couldn't bite through the piece and just stuck the whole thing in my mouth while trying to tell a story to my husband about things I'd done that day. Five minutes later I gave up on both the meat and the story. It tasted okay, and in a way it was tender. It just didn't break down fast enough to swallow. My husband tried it and agreed -- a rare enough occasion, so I know I'm right about this. He shared his lamb kebab. (He's a good man.) The dinners all come with 1/2 white rice and 1/2 qabuli, which is pretty good, and a choice of side. I got a salad (average) last time, the spinach (pretty good) this time, and eventually I will order again and try the chickpeas. At the moment, I'm not sure which experience is a more accurate example. Tonight could have been a "one off" experience. It was around 6 pm on Sunday, so being out of the custard could have something to do with that. The hour delivery time is not a problem and was to be expected. If there's any real deterrent for us, it's the steep delivery fee. We love ordering out. Also, we did not call them to let them know our experience, so they did not have an opportunity to correct it. They did call back immediately about the custard suggesting that they are conscientious at that level. Based on our first stellar experience, I will probably call next time to make sure they have the firnee. I really need at least one more experience to decide about this place. Good luck. Edit: I asked my husband what could have been wrong with my tenderloin kebab and he said it wasn't tenderloin, it was a very low grade meat. So, that sounds probable. Solid kabob place. Portion sizes are generous. Pita/Naan is great. Chicken shawarma was ok, but prefer the combo platter for 2. More than 2 normal people can eat. The spicy green chutney that comes with the entree is GREAT. We usually order delivery, but you'll need to plan on an hour. It's worth the wait. Nothing outstanding comparing with other kabob places. Its typical aghan style restaurant. Kabob offerings are OK but elsewhere had better taste and quantity for the price they are charging. Side of chickpeas is just boiled chickpeas in very simple curry. Food has some flavor but could be made better. Also could not give me some kind of hot sauce/chutney as I love hot and spicy food. Drove 20 minutes from Sterling since their rating is so good. Didn't get the hype. Very average food. Maybe Broadlands just hasn't been exposed to real kabobs (come to Sterling sometimes). Great tasting food but unbelievably bad service. Ordered at 6:20 today and went to pick up around 7. Food was not ready and they seemed busy. Waited for a long time and asked for an update and kept getting "5 more mins" or "it's being bagged". In the meantime, about 10 customers had come and gone with their orders.
