In a short time, it has become the Coffee Shop in Vinton to go in the morning to enjoy a good gourmet coffee or tea, together with a breakfast sandwich, a bagel with cream cheese made in the house, or a sweet pastry. When I arrived to have breakfast, the place was almost full with people of all ages. In one corner two businessmen elegantly dressed in business suits with laptops were seated in one table with what seemed like talking business, a couple had just arrived and sat in another table drinking their coffee and socializing, two other men dressed more informal also with a laptop at another table discussing something, two young ladies seated at a counter with comfortable high chairs socializing, a husband and wife seated next to the Christmas tree enjoying some quality time together, and the manager of the place seated at a small table doing some work his computer. This not counting all those who came in to pickup takeout orders to go. One could tell that the community was taking full advantage of this beautiful and clean place with contemporary decor, large windows, and high ceilings. It also had a Community Bulletin Board on one wall near the wall for customers to post information on events happening as well as business cards of their businesses or services provided. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by a young lady employee behind the counter who was very knowledgeable about the menu of the Coffee Shop and explained to me the breakfast sandwiches that they had and took my order for one of them in a plain bagel and a large Mocha Latte Coffee. As soon as the order was ready she brought the items to the table where I was seated with a friendly smile, providing exceptional customer service. The coffee tasted absolutely Devine and was nice and hot; and the breakfast sandwich had a fresh plain bagel that was toasted to perfection, crunchy in the outside and soft in the inside, filled with fresh ingredients that together tasted amazingly delicious. Without a question, I would highly recommend this Coffee Shop to all reading my review and looking at my photographs accompanying it. This is definitely a relaxing place to go to socialize and spend quality time with family and friends, to do some work or have a meeting with work associates, or even for entrepreneurs to brainstorm ideas to start a business in the future or to make their current business grow. A short while ago I had the privilege of reviewing its first location, in Downtown Roanoke, the largest establishment in Crafteria: Handmade Food and Goods, almost in the corner of S Jefferson Street and Church Avenue. Today I decided to visit the Little Green Hive in Grandin Village, located on Grandin Road in the heart of Grandin Village, right next to the 7-11 there. It shares the same entrance to the building where Rockfish Food and Wine Restaurant is located. After you enter a small foyer, the door on the right takes you to this Historic Grandin Village Coffee Shop, that serves Coffee, Smoothies, Smoothie Bowls, Fresh Juices, Breakfast Burritos & Bagels, and fresh pastries such as Fresh-baked Scones, Muffins, Cinnamon Rolls, and Large Chocolate Chip Cookies. When I entered through the white french door that led to this Coffee Shop located in a small yet very cozy space of a Victorian building with beautiful original hardwood floors and a lovely wide window with a long counter table and high chairs facing out the window looking out towards the sidewalk, I was simply amazed at how well by using different color paints for the walls, a white furniture counter, blackboards with color chalk menus, and contemporary yet comfortable furniture, they have created a cozy and inviting space, very appropriate to contribute to the dining experience itself. At the ordering counter, a gentleman employee warmly greeted and welcomed me with a smile. Then he took my breakfast order. I ordered a Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a plain Bagel Sandwich, a large Caffè Mocha, and one of their famous Cinnamon Roll, which by the way I had seen how they make them from scratch when I visited their Downtown Roanoke store. Another of their employee, a young lady, was the one who prepared the items ordered and the would place them on the pick-up table when ready and call the name of the items to be picked up and taken by the customer to their table. As I sat down waiting for my food to be ready. I noticed the positive chemistry emanating from the other customers there. A few young ladies who looked like friends were having breakfast and chatting at the window counter. An midage gentleman was seated in one of the relaxed and comfortable, leather chairs up front and listening to his music while he enjoyed his coffee. An older wise gentleman was serving as a mentor to a younger what looked like college student. And a group of four older but graceful and energetic ladies just arrived and were seated down at a table getting ready to have a pleasant breakfast meeting, while enjoying their coffee and breakfast treats. This restaurant was serving the community well. I could feel it in the air. While on its walls, there were artworks from a local artist hanging with a name and price tag and information on the artist with a QR code to the Artist's website and instructions on how to buy these and other of her works of art. While all this was happening I had already picked up my breakfast and was enjoying it at my table. Needless to say that everything tasted delicious. From my Mocha Coffee that had just the right flavor, to the Bagel Breakfast Sandwich which was fresh and soft with fresh ingredients, to the Cinnamon that was so sweet. To drink I ordered a medium Caffè Mocha. To eat I ordered a Breakfast Sandwich with a Cloverdale Plain Bagel, with Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. And finish with something sweet, a Cherry Danish. The Mocha was amazingly good The Bagel was very large and fresh; crunchy on the outside and soft and moist ingredients the inside with a nice size portion of Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. I spent some time there and was able to meet one of the employees who happened to arrive during this time. I also met a nice older couple who enjoy eating at different restaurants and I recommended them Crooked Shoreline Steak and Seafood from Daleville, which I just finished eating there and few days before, and was the first to review this restaurant for Yelp. They loved the oral recap of my review and promised they would go that same event to dine there. They in turn recommended me Nakhon Thai Cuisine which I will be doing there and reviewing for Yelp next Tuesday. Amazingly, what I wrote about at the beginning of this review did take place during the time I was there. God has blessed this Coffee House in a very special way, and it was providing more than just food and drinks for the body, but also for the soul. I highly recommend this Coffee House to all reading this review and viewing the photographs taken for it. In this day and age that it is hard to find a place like this to enjoy a cup of coffee, meet interesting people to socialize with, and do some productive work. The Global Blend Café is located in The Go Center, the hub for the nonprofit organization Global Partners in Peace and Development, whos main goal is to show and share God's love here and around the world. When I originally decided to visit this Café for the first time, I wasn't aware of the above, just curious about the quality of their coffee and of their one-of-a-kind breakfast and lunch menus. If I was impressed by these at first, at the end of my last sip of coffee I would be even more impressed when I found out about their work and that one hundred percent of the Café's proceeds benefit local initiatives like prayer walks, Sunday bible classes and their Global Adventure, a three-floor interactive experience for kids and their international ministry partnerships that aid with projects like building water wells in India and Uganda. After talking with the Global Blend Café's manager, Kenzie Morisette, I realized that this independent café offers something that chain coffee shops can't: a real sense of place where neighbors connect and memories are made over thoughfuly crafted cups of coffee. It's a mission-driven Café where we can go to relax in their cozy seating areas, connect with friends, shop at the Nation's Hope Store, and explore cultures and causes worldwide. It's a place where great coffee meets a global purpose. On this day a friendly young lady greeted me behind the counter of the Café when I arrived. After viewing their menu I ordered an Iced Samoa Signature Latte that contained coconut, caramel, and chocolate. And to eat I ordered their American Breakfast with my choice of Croissant, Bacon, and Cheddar Cheese. After paying with my credit card they gave me one of those beepers that shake when your order is ready. And when it did I picked it up at the pick-up station and took it to one of the tables inside. This is one of those places that you can't come just once. That you haven't quite finished eating and you are already planning on when to return.
