Came here with a large group and it was nice place to wind down after a long work day. The place is plastered with funny and sports memorabilia. The perfect place to catch a game or play some keno. The first thing I noticed when looking over the menu was the great beer selection. Lots of regional selections including well sought after craft beers. The menu is tavern fare, all of which come in giant portions that I saw not only at my table but by other plates going by. The staff was attentive and helped us through the menu. We ordered the steak and cheese egg rolls and I got a fig and goat cheese flatbread. The eggrolls were classic. Cheesy goodness with steak. The flatbread was crispy which went well with the again, cheesy goodness. The goat cheese was a little sparsely populated over the other cheese but it good. The fig jam and balsamic were more present which I enjoyed though. It was a large flatbread for only being 10"! read more

Got a quesadilla and it was probably the worst quesadilla I have ever had. Ate less than 1 of the 4 slices and threw the rest in the trash.

The young girl was amazing. I don't remember her name, but she was very nice. She handled a party. We had probably 1516 people and she handled it all by herself never a problem. Everything came out cooked perfect long time altogether, which is wonderful because usually we are when we go out as a family for dinner, we I've been here many times in the past also one of the guys that came tonight he lives right here in town so him and his family come here often. The only downside is it is cash only but they do have it on site ATM, which is perfectly fine if you just gotta come prepared, the food was very reasonable. The husband I had the burger and the I had the white salad. I was expecting the lunchtime one, but they actually had given me the dinner one so between the two of us we ate it cost us with a tip on $40. That's about average when you go out to eat nowadays and it's nice we go out to eat and the husband actually cleans his plate. That's absolute perfect too. I would come here again definitely I would definitely recommend as a family restaurant, but I probably wouldn't come here too often at night. It really was too too loud this evening. They did however have like some sort of like bingo or trivia night thing or something so that probably added to the noise level other than that I usually come here for lunch and never have an issue towards food right on top of things. It's good tasty just an all-around good time and that's about it. Everybody should try it. There was a lot of good dishes we had this evening people had like I said the fried whole belly clams they have the chicken Parm somebody else had the fish and chips. Somebody else had flatbread pizza. One person had a bowl of clam chowder and also had a pastrami sandwich somebody else had the blackened corned beef, but everything was perfect. Not one person had an issue with anything and that's perfect we typically have issues with getting our food together and getting on a time and nobody wants to eat alone. All things considered it's a great bar. I've been here a few times and the food has aways been decent but never blew me away but it's not supposed to. This was my second time at Ashland Ale House! The first time I came during trivia on a Tuesday night, which was a lot of fun! I also had the fig pizza which was also pretty good. My boyfriend's steak tips, however, were not cooked-like rarer than rare, but he got new cooked ones and it was taken off the bill. I was able to convince my boyfriend to come back for the Festa Italiana deal! It's a dinner for two (or more really!) that includes 2 glasses of wine (or a bottle for $10 more), a shareable salad, a one-topping flatbread (either as an appetizer or to go!), and 2 pasta entrees. All for $38! That can't be beat! It was so much food- the salad was great and fresh, I liked the diced tomatoes in lieu of cherry! And the pizza was really good. I had mushrooms on it, and I'm really excited to eat my leftovers later. The pizza was the highlight! I had the linguine and meatballs as my entree as I was craving marinara. While it was a very light covering of marinara, it was good marinara. The garlic bread was very soft and butter as well! The meatballs looked eh but they tasted fine! I had so much food to take home, so that's an added bonus. Our waitress was also very nice and was sure to warn us about the sloped table edges- many a drink has slipped off the table! I'm glad I was made aware of that. The service was also fast- I barely had time to finish the salad before the pizza was brought out, or finish the pizza before the pasta was brought out! I also really like the vibe of the place- local pub! They really hit it home. The decor is movie posters and old timey relics and school logos, and there were plenty of shamrocks and festive banners around for St. Patrick's Day. The food is very solid. I don't think any particular dish is amazing, but they cover a wide span of categories (including orange chicken, randomly) and do a good job with everything we've tried. The service has been pretty good- attentive and friendly overall. Ale House gets five stars for the overall value, consistency, and the vibe in there. It's simply nice to be there and we've enjoyed each visit. I like the Wednesday night Italian dinner for two and the themes they do, as well as Trivia night. It's nice to see a place show some effort and execute on specials and theme nights etc. and they clearly have a loyal following as a result. We're now a part of that following. read more

What a great spot! Only been in a few times due to distance from my house, but every time we go we question why we dont go more often. Great bartenders, huge menu that is well thought out. I got steak tips, wife got the orange chicken bowl. All excellent. Server was great and very personable. We encountered a true 10/10 family dining experience tonight at Ashland Ale House. We were greeted by a friendly and accommodating hostess. The restaurant was spotless despite all of the nooks and crannies in between the varied treasures and memorabilia plastering the walls. The ambiance all around was cheerful and pleasant. We were served by a knowledgeable, courteous and friendly server named Carl. He was attentive and offered suggestions and was engaged in our children enjoying themselves. The menu has everything and anything that you may desire from Fig & goat cheese flatbread to what I had... the Short Rib risotto. My dinner was so rich and flavorful. The quality was impeccable. My husband had their signature chicken sandwich which was unbelievable, the perfect balance between crunchy and juicy. Both of my children had burgers which they devoured with no issues (quite rare for 5 & 8 year olds). Just when we thought our meal was complete we were greeted by Carl with two hoodsie cups for the kids and to let us know that their resident "celebrity" had arrived and he would be coming to visit it us. Shortly thereafter, we were greeted and entertained by their house Magician Scott. Our kids were floored. What an experience. Ashland ale house has my vote! My girlfriend and I go there at least once a month. The food is fantastic takes pub food to a whole new level. The service is average but better than most always a smile on the servers face. And meals were a mixed bag among us (see my pics of baked haddock. Mildly fishy but still ate it. Was not a thick, flaky, piece of white haddock). If I had to name some bad things, there was no kids menu, at least not one with a hamburger on it. Had to order a $16 adult burger for a 9 yr old. Carpeting should be replaced throughout and replaced with hardwood because it was kind of dingy looking and gives the place a 'dirty' feel, but wasn't dirty really. I have been here and sat at the bar.It was fine. Tonight We had a party of five. We sat at a high top. Server was so uninterested. We needed set ups, more water etc. He would walk by with his head down. I had to stop and ask other servers for what we needed. We tried to play keno, waited so long. With the exception of a couple of hostesses, everyone was miserable. Why is a hostess wearing a flannel shirt? Place was hot. It was an extremely unpleasant, Had to ask for everything!!!! There was nothing redeeming for this evening of Trivia. The trivia guy want enunciating as well as other trivia guys in other local bars on Tuesday night. He took too much time tabulating the scores. It actually hurts to say this because I've been going to Ashland Ale house for maybe 10 years. I had never had a bad experience until the last 3 times I've ordered a burger. I've always requested medium rare, until after receiving a completely raw burger, I requested medium, thinking maybe there was a new cook. The medium burger was way over cooked. I tried medium rare one more time, and it was completely raw again. I'm not sure if the burgers are prepared differently when ordering takeout but this was never an issue before and I used to LOVE getting these burgers because they were delicious. But I do not enjoy having to recook the burger at home myself. Or having to order one that's way overcooked. There should be some sort of grey area, between completely raw, and completely gray. A little pink, shouldn't be too much to ask for I don't think. Please, I'd love to be able to enjoy or think ooo I could go for an Ale house burger right now instead of, maybe I'll just get a burger from somewhere else. It's super close, super convenient, and the food is 99% of the time delicious. I just have stopped ordering the burgers cause the last 3 times have been rather terrible. read more

Awesome food. We went here Saturday night and although it was super busy we were seated immediately and the service was prompt and attentive. I don't go out often so when I do I like to do apps and dessert as well. My boyfriend and I decided to start with the steak and cheese egg rolls. They came with a delicious creamy horseradish and the steak was so tender and flavorful I would have had more as my entree! He got the steak tips I got the short rib French dip, which we both loved. The side of onion rings were nice and thin too, not like the ones where the onion comes out and you have a huge chunk of fry batter left. They have really transformed the grassy patch outside into a wonderful outdoor seating. They have a really extensive menu with some great food and drink options. I really liked the blackened chicken BLT. Perfect ratio of each layer. The side Caesar salad was also really good. The drink was good but I thought it was a little too strong. The place is convenient located so I have gone 3 times after food shopping, I never had a good experience and today was not any different. I had a bloody Marie, it was just vodka and mix, no lime or lemon. Tasted bland. Ordered some appetizers and the bartender did not come to check on the food. We needed ketchup but it was too late. They cater to the regulars. The last time I went I had a soup with nothing in it and terrible service. I emailed the manager and no response. We always came here in the past and always enjoyed our meal. Tonight was awful! My husband ordered marinated steak tips, baked potatoe and a side salad. The tips were not marinated and roasted potatoes given to him. When he asked the server about the baked potatoe, his response was "oh I'm sorry. It's not on the menu tonight". Nothing was offered in place of the mess up. I ordered turkey tip salad. The turkey tips came out raw so I sent them back. When I finally got my meal, the turkey tips tasted like frozen processed ones. Horrible! I just ate the lettuce. The manager, who was about 12 years old, didn't seem to care or try to offer any solution. He just apologized. We just paid the bill and crossed this place off our list.
