The hostel is very clean and feels very welcoming. We had a 2 person room, which was located on the first floor, near the front door. Our room was cute and comfortable. We had a shared bathroom with another double room. The bathroom was located between the two rooms, and each bedroom had a private entrance to the bathroom from their room. This was pretty nice, but you do have to remember to lock two doors when you used the restroom. The bathroom was clean, and still felt really private. The location is the best part! It is located just a short walk from the theaters and downtown! It's next door to another popular hotel, but I'd rather stay here. Behind the hostel is a residential area with plenty of unrestricted parking. There's also a nice, clean kitchen for use. I think there was some free bread too, but I may be mistaken as I stayed there last spring. One thing to note though is that many, many students and class trips stay here, so the entire hostel could be filled with youth.

I booked a room several days in advance and tried requesting an early checkin to receive no response other than a day or two later being asked "How big and what breed" my dogs were, which was already odd to me as the response did not indicate whether an earlier checkin was possible and rather indicated that there may be breed restrictions that ARE NOT LISTED ANYWHERE on their website, booking.com, etc. Upon arrival we explained the need behind my partners presence due to the fire activity and the woman who answered the phone was sporadic, aggressive and very offputting. Even still, due to being 6+ hours from home, we were going to stay here since it was the only option. The woman turned out to be the "owner" who lied saying she was not on the property to help us but "sure check in early if your in a rush and to figure it out (how would we do that without an employee?) as we could see her exiting the property at the same time. We politely asked for a moment of her time to try and get checked in as she said then on the phone it was OKAY. She was rambling a mile a minute and at this point I decided i didn't feel safe staying here and asked if I could get a refund. She just screamed " BYE BYE BYE BYE " and told me to " get the f*ck off her property " she was very aggressive and I truly have never experienced anything like this. I felt like I was dealing with a drug addict... needless to say I do not recommend staying there. We will be spending the night in the car instead of putting our well being at risk. This woman should be drug tested and barred from owning a business. Any other option would be nicer. She acted like a disgusting person.

THIS was exactly what I got at The Maverick Motel, and couldn't be happier. Don't think you're coming to a Hilton or anything like it.. but great value and exceeded all expectations. The Dad at the front desk was really great and polite even at 11pm AND when we left early morning. The room was definitely.clean and comfortable, with a good soft bed and pillows, a microwave and fridge, and a decent comfortable space for a toilet and shower/tub even for a big guy like myself. The AC blew cold. The TV and cable worked great. Nothing more you can ask for. Thank you for this stay and good nights sleep!!! A couple notes: 1. There is no breakfast here... But they do have coffee. 2. There is a small convenience store in the office, and they've got a lot. 3. MIDGE FLYS - they are everywhere outside and the Dad at the front desk warns you about them. Get in and out of your door quickly to keep them out. THEY ARE HARMLESS. 4. Not sure about wheelchair access here. I didn't see a ramp from the lot to the rooms, but I could be wrong.

A day after staying, my bank account was charged an additional $50. I called the manager and questioned the charge. He told me I was charged because one of the wash cloths was dirty and wouldn't come clean. The towels have faint stains to begin with and are Dollar Tree quality. So apparently if you're in need of a shower, this is NOT the place! You can not take a shower here if you're dirty and use a wash cloth that's been washed and reused a billion times by numerous previous guest and have it not be white or you'll be charged $50!!! The rate of my room was $73! You're telling me a used wash cloth is $50? This place is discriminatory towards Caucasian people. If it's not because I'm white, then how do you justify this? Charging almost the same price as the room for a night for a used wash cloth they probably paid less than 50 cents for. The manager was borderline rude while checking in as well and kept asking multiple times if I had a pet with, which I didn't but kept being asked. I do not recommend this place. I had no complaints other than the TV not working until I saw the additional $50 charge on my bank statement a full day after the fact. Rather than make this situation right, they've decided to keep my $50 for a used washcloth. The room was $73. They are racist particularly against white people and women in general.

The internet says that this business is open for business all the time and yet I get talked to as if I'm inconviencing who ever is working by calling. My plans for staying over a two week period were changing frequently, and they were very adaptable and flexible to making sure I was taken care of. The hotel is literally within walking distance to the airport. Although it isn't in the centre of town, it's conveniently located to most restaurants with a very short driving distance. The best part is there's a Costco within a 2-min drive so it was super easy for us to gas up early in the morning before heading out wth Costco membership price. While the hotel and the rooms are a bit dated, the front desk service was extremely attentive. We got a phone call within 10-15 mins of checking into our room to see if everything was OK.

We called ahead to let them know that we would be arriving late at night (please call them if you plan to check in after 8 pm) and the owner was nice enough to keep the motel room open for us. Our beds were very comfortable and the blankets were warm. The toilets are clean with hot water. There is wifi but we didn't have the password. There are a few picnic tables outside. The main lodge where the office is located has a dining area where you have access to a continental breakfast (toast, bagels, muffins, cereal, etc), and a community room which has a TV, pool table and the friendly family dogs. The whole set up is a family run business, which brings a sense of groundedness and kindness. Lava Beds is just a 15 min drive. Tule Lake wildlife refuge is just across the road. We booked this lodge because it was the only option but after having stayed here, I definitely recommend choosing them if you plan to spend a night or two in Tulelake.

I stopped by here with my wife for a one night stay this past Thursday evening. With little…read morelodging in the area around Crater Lake we were happy to have found this place and booked it months in advance. The evening that we were planning on staying here my wife and I wanted to catch sunset at crater lake before heading over. So I made an attempt to call the inn and ask if a 9:30 pm check in was ok. Whenever a day had gone by and I hadn't heard anything back I was starting to get a little worried. So attempt #2 was made by email and within 15 minutes I had a reply back that it was ok and where our key would be located. Driving up to this inn in the dark was definitely an experience. The owner had told me in his email that the last mile of our drive would be on dirt roads. However with the dark my wife and I still were asking "where the heck are we going?" Once on the property and inside the inn we found it to be rather pleasant. The floors are all white carpet and are complemented by the pine wood that is everywhere. There are three separate rooms here and ours was upstairs. The main area is cooled by air conditioning but the rooms only have personal fans. Whenever the doors to the bedrooms are shut then they can get rather warm. This led to me sweating while attempting to go to bed. Stupidly I had missed that I could open the windows on my first look at them but once I had the windows open the nice cool mountain air had the room at a good temperature. At that point the comfortable bed and cool air had me asleep in a flash. In the morning my wife and I were able to enjoy the inn even more. On the outside there was a nice patio with a garden waterfall nearby and my wife and I ate our continental breakfast out there. It also seems like the owner is still working on the property itself. While it wasn't messy by any means there was lots of equipment around and it looked like it would be even nicer in the future. While I was fixing myself breakfast I was able to talk to the owner who seemed to be a nice man. We made small talk over us getting in late the night before and he nicely gave us some suggestions for our next days travels after hearing where we were headed. The bottom line for me is that I would stay here again in the future. Even though I started our hating this place due to the remote location and my own stupidity with the windows. I eventually came around and really ended up enjoying this place and the peacefulness that came with it.

When we came up on the address, I had to circle around to see if I missed something. Nope. This is the place. So, it's not a hotel. It's not even a motel. But, it's not a hostel. Then why a four star? I liked the remoteness. I liked the rustic feel. We were right in the middle of a forest. The place is basically a guest house with either 3 or 4 small rooms (the one on the bottom is a bit creepy). The room isn't big and the amenities weren't all that great. My wife certainly wasn't happy that I found this place. But, this place had charisma. This is a near adventure and a diamond in the rough.
