1st time staying here - there's two buildings. I stayed in the building that has 3 floors. My bed was comfortable, a little firmer than what I have at home but still got a good nights sleep. The AC worked extremely well. Had all the amenities (tv, coffee station, microwave, fridge, hair dryer). The inn staff said they were fully booked. I didn't hear my neighbors so that was nice (usually you hear people next door or out in the hallway). My friend was in the other building that only has 2 floors (no elevator). So, if you have trouble going up stairs, make sure to request to stay in the building with 3 floors. Free breakfast and parking! The breakfast was really good (scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage patties, the bacon was really thin, biscuits & gravy, a fruit & yogurt bar, toast, waffles, fruit, cereal, 4 types of juice, tea, really good coffee.) I overheard another guest say he has stayed at other places & this is the place they always come back to. We tried to use the hot tub but for some reason the water wasn't hot. This is a dog friendly inn and while we didn't have a dog, our friends did. We had a king bed with a pullout bed/couch for $279/night. It seemed expensive for the quality of the accommodations but it was July 4 weekend so probably marked up. The fee included free wifi, free parking and a very nice, free breakfast. The breakfast options included eggs, bacon, muffins, waffles, toast, hash browns, cereal, fruit, coffee and juice, so plenty of options. But what you are really paying for is the location. The Inn is a five minute walk to downtown and to the Theatre festival area. There is a fitness room with stair stepper and treadmill and free weights. They also have a common area with puzzles if you are into them. The bathroom was small and the decor outdated. There was a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room. read more

Accommodations not worth the expensive price. The rooms are in some need of updating and deep cleaning (insane stains on the one rolling chair and the carpet), bathrooms need a full renovation (broken handles, running toilets), the elevator is kind of intimidating, and the lower garage floor needs more lighting. However the night staff was friendly, the continental breakfast was great (yum, cheesy potatoes!), and the beds are comfortable. Also it's in a fantastic location. read more

Stayed here again on our way to Portland. I accidentally booked a Pet room with a balcony online, but the front desk person cheerfully fixed it when we got there and said they'll try to change the website so that it doesn't default to that so easily. She gave us a room without a balcony, but it was a nice room with a BIG couch in it, so that made it homey and comfortable. There was more parking than it appears, since much of it is in the underground/covered area. The very best thing I liked this trip was the big, thick heavy GLUTEN FREE (with other clean items) wrapped blueberry muffins at breakfast...those really made my day! It's soooo hard to find cleaner breakfast choices, especially satisfying and delicious ones. Bed was good, and it was nice and quiet. Plaza Inn & Suites is a great place to stay if you're overnighting in Ashland. It's cute, it's clean, the staff are friendly, and it's super walkable. Check in, park your car, and walk to shops, dining and entertainment. This last stay we discovered that the hotel connects to the Ashland creek trail. It's extensive and awesome! Air system turns off and on, kept me up most of the night however the worst of it was the lack of professionalism with the GM. He tried to over charge us. Walked into my room without knocking, luckily I was "mostly" dressed. Charged my incidental credit card for the room rate, room was not even in my name, the room was under my friends name. Additionally tried to charge us for a night we did not stay, still waiting on that refund. Rude and refused to clean our room after charging us $100 more. This place is a bit odd. Uncovered / unguarded parking, though not sure if crime or breakins are common or not, maybe it's fine. Room was okay but a bit dimly lit and smelled a bit off. Didn't feel super cozy, very sterile vibe. Not much in the way of amenities or anything like that, just super standard. They charged a $35 pet fee on top of what I was charged from booking via expedia which caught me off guard. Main weird thing was the breakfast, it was basically nonexistent / low quality. The good - I'm glad that we found this location. It was a bit more, but close enough to the action, to make it worth it! I'm so glad that I went! I really am! The room had two beds and was quite basic, but I've been traveling a lot and it's good basic. A nice, decent place, where I can lay my head and sleep like a baby. Not quite, but you get the drift. Check in and getting our keys was easy peasy and I really appreciated that! In addition, I saw that they had breakfast options. One included a gluten free bag with a muffin and an orange. The people at the front desk were totally nice and accommodating. They had nice closet space and a nice bathroom. I'm glad that they didn't have the daily room cleaning, something that I usually don't like. They had a cute little kitchenette station, which was cute but not practical. The bad - We had a view of another hotel, we considered and a dirty whirlpool. OK? Yech! They could have covered it. The elevator was the slowest of the slow... Wow, again, a rich person's problem, I'm not going to worry about, but it worked and got me to my floor, but missing it and having to wait was torture. The water in the room was hotter than hot. Meaning, I'm surprised that I didn't burn myself. I could have steeped a good back of tea with that temperature. So after getting burned a bit, we learned the area of warmth on the faucet (it was quite small). But again, that's a rich person's problem. When have I ever had to complain about water being too hot? That's not a problem that I run into much. And the breakfast bag... a) I felt cheated when I saw how much was in the other bags compared to the Gluten free one. b) The best thing about it was the orange. I wish they would have made a deal with a local bakery for a good gluten free snack. The muffin looked like something that I would pick up at the most random of gas stations - pass c) The coffee was ok. The two pumps of vanilla creamer couldn't save it because it was a bit crappy. That being said, it was better than nothing. The verdict - I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! I loved it. And the closeness to the thriving downtown area/strip was worth it. read more

The bedding stained but comfortable. Decent pillows, this was the first place I've recently stayed at that had a selection of pillow firmnesses. Serious downturn in quality. Wallpaper in bathroom peeling, toilet paper holder fell apart first use. "Hot" breakfast was inedible. Bacon? "We're out of that - it's too late to make more." So... chicken sausage and instant scramble. The rest of the offerings were not even lukewarm. The coffee urn was exhausted by an half hour before the posted breakfast hours. NOT EVEN COFFEE. Parking lot is inadequate, unless you park on the second level and hike it with your luggage. At checkout time, Two TWO five-minute false fire alarms. AT CHECKOU. Coincidence? No way to get through to the desk to confirm authenticity without trotting down personally. No elevator, because: fire alarm. The one and only elevator for four floors takes an eternity when NOT disabled. The house phones were busy/unanswered. Understandable. "It's an emergency," Except it wasn't. Even on check-IN, 6PM, the "help" desk was one surly high-school age mendicant with a "don't bother me" attitude. Won't stay here again. Not recommended. read more

As soon as we walked in we were happy with our choice to stay here. Super cute and super friendly staff. So friendly that when I mentioned that we were on our last day of our 11 anniversary getaway Gulled decided to upgrade us to a suite with a king bed, living room and a huge bathroom with a tub with jet's. There is something Un-Ashland-y about Plaza Inn's aggressive yield pricing algorithms which make the prices vary wildly night to night. That would be okay if the service and overall property was as state-of-the-art as their focus on maximizing their income. But, there are uncomfortable holes in the Plaza Inn's offerings. First, the positive. The room I had was light, pleasant, and very nicely appointed. Great, comfortable bed, plenty of room to walk around, good storage, and reasonable, if Spartan-feeling, bathroom. Coupled with the Inn's great location -- near to downtown and the OSF theaters -- the room feels like a very good MOTEL experience. I emphasize MOTEL, because they charge like a luxury hotel on weekend nights in season. Worse, the service is poor. I arrived at 3:47 and was told fairly abruptly by the front desk attendant that there were no rooms ready as check in was 4 pm. They'd call me on my cell when they had a room ready. Well, okay. 4 pm seems late for check-in, and it was almost 4, but I needed to pick up will-call tickets, so no problem. Of course, I received no call from the desk, but when I returned at 4:15 there was a room available. They never mentioned not calling or any prior contact. Not a crisis, but not $200+ a night service. Then there was the day that my room hadn't been made up by 3 pm. I thought I'd been missed, but the front desk informed me that sometimes rooms don't get cleaned by 5... did I need housekeeping to come by now? Seriously, in a destination town like Ashland where people use their room during the day, they need to improve their cleaning schedule. But, their insolvable problem is their lack of adequate off-street parking. They have a few spaces on the street level, but their underground garage is marked "Compact Only" for good reason. The ramps are too narrow to accommodate normal-size cars, much less any full-size cars or SUVs that older people coming to Ashland frequently travel in. See the photo of the skid-marked walls of the ramp coming up from the underground garage. There's serious unhappiness recorded there! Two of the three nights I stayed at the Plaza I had to park on the city streets. All the standard car slots on the main level were full. They do have a breakfast/snack bar that is just okay. Their steam-plate scrambled eggs breakfast makes walking across the street to Brother's Restaurant a better alternative. And, the breakfast room itself has meeting room tables and chairs which feel odd to eat from. Anyway! The Plaza Inn is an okay place to stay -- maybe a 3- or 4-star motel. But is earns only two stars here because of the level of accommodations they put themselves in. The are definitely not a top quality place to relax in luxury. They are a serviceable motel with some nice touches that go along with some lapses. read more

My husband and I have stayed at the Plaza Inn and Suites for at least a decade. We usually stay for multiple days while in Ashland for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The rooms are large and the price is reasonable, so we kept coming back, despite some flaws. This year, we booked a room as a stop on our way to northern Oregon to visit friends. The service and stay were so atrocious that I cancelled our reservation for our return trip and happily paid more to stay elsewhere. Our reservation was after the OSF season, so Ashland was quiet and the hotel parking lot was almost empty. We arrived around 2:30 p.m. and I went inside to check in. There was a sign posted at the front desk that said they were working away from the desk for a moment, so wait or call them. There was a number posted, so I called. I could hear the phone ringing in the back room. It rang and rang and rang and rang. I kept calling for a full 15 minutes and rang the manual bell on the front desk. Nothing. While I was waiting, another gentleman also came in and was waiting to check in. An employee finally came in from the adjacent stairwell, did not acknowledge either of us, entered the front desk area, and walked into the back room without a word! The employee re-emerged, looked at me, and gruffly asked, "Can I help you?" I said I was checking in and she immediately said, "Check in is at 4 p.m." The manner and tone suggested I was doing something wrong by being there and was disrupting whatever else she was doing. She said, "Name?" and looked up my reservation, then telling me the room status was still "dirty." I asked if there was another room available? She looked at her screen and said "No." I said that the hotel could not be fully booked. She said something about the category of room I had booked, so I said it did not have to be the same class of room; I was flexible. She looked back at her computer and, without saying a word, checked me in and passed me a key. When we got to the room, it was the exact category of room I had booked, just on the second floor instead of the third. There were no housekeeping staff or carts in sight, so it wasn't as though the room had just been cleaned. It was available the entire time. There were so many ways the front desk experience could have been improved. First, simply being present at the front desk or having a means of contact that works is necessary. Second, acknowledging and apologizing when customers have had to wait at the front desk would be appropriate. Third, if someone arrives before official check-in time, a less abrupt response could be offered; for example, "We don't guarantee the room until 4 p.m., but we aren't fully booked, so let me check and see if your room is available early." Even better, don't say anything that frames the customer as doing something wrong; check availability first and if nothing is available then state the check-in time in the context of a positive statement about getting the customer settled in as soon as possible. Fourth, if a specific room is unavailable, but there are other options, offer them! Once we were in our room, I wiped down high-touch surfaces with Clorox wipes (a pandemic-era habit). The wipe came up grey from the tiled bathroom counter. In addition, the edges of some of the towels were badly fraying and one of the formerly-white washcloths was a dingy grey that looked like a cleaning rag. There were also box elder bugs all over the balcony, which isn't the hotel's fault, but there was a huge hole in the screen door that allowed the bugs into the room. We had to kill the bugs that were already in there and then could not open the sliding glass door and have the screen closed to let fresh air into the room. Not repairing a screen with a giant hole is the hotel's fault. I paid for a room with a sliding door/outside space that was unusable. The Plaza Inn and Suites has always been adequate. The breakfast isn't anything to scream about and some of the surfaces are dated, but the large rooms, reasonable price, and proximity to downtown Ashland made it acceptable. Being made to wait, being treated rudely, and having a dirty room (especially during a pandemic!) turned "adequate" into downright unacceptable. I willingly and eagerly paid more for a room elsewhere, just to avoid staying at the Plaza Inn and Suites on the way home. After a decade of loyalty, the poor service and poor quality at Plaza Inn and Suites were inexcusable. Really enjoyed our 2-day stay here. The room wasn't huge, but felt spacious and very clean - even the bathroom was spacious! Wi-Fi was solid. Could have used more table space. Staff was very helpful and the place just felt laid back and relaxing, much like Ashland itself. The dining room was open most of the time, and some of the food was available all day. My favorite part was the deck, with a nice view of the trees and stream below, also available throughout the day and evening. read more

Second time here. First time was excellent about ten years ago. However after having a reservation for about a month give or take, we were sent the offset rooms with no elevators. The room is old. Remodeled , but OLD. You would think for $300 a night the room would be much nicer than a 60's rehab. Anything you may want or need, you have to go to the main hotel for. ANYTHING! There was a balcony with a nice view and an outside patio area for smokers. This is a non smoking hotel. We stopped at the Plaza Inn & Suites going each way between Seattle and Napa. We primarily picked the hotel for the location, reviews, and having Tesla destination chargers. On arrival there was plenty of parking. Tesla charges aren't sign-posted, but are in the underground level of the parking lot. They were located away from the reception - perfect to prevent ICEing. There were four 30A+ chargers down there, all of them worked, left most chargers were just a little faster than the right ones. Housekeeping had parked in one of the charging spots each time I'd visited - wasn't a problem on either visit, just wish they didn't do that esp. given there was open parking-spaces directly opposite. Check-in experience was pretty great - COVID protection in place. Friendly welcome every time, and super helpful staff. We already knew our way around Ashland, but still got some new great tips on what was happening in town. We had larger creek-view suite on both occasions. They were clean and pretty well appointed - fridge, coffee, mini-sink, microwave. Only thing missing was a corkscrew - but the front-desk got that fixed up in a jiffy. Bathroom was large and spacious, decent jetted tub and shower. Bedroom area was comfortable - great blackout curtains. Power outlets in the right spots for charging phones and watches on the nightstand. The room was pretty quiet at night too - I'm a fairly light sleeper - this was really great. The location is super central to town. On both nights we walked out to get dinner, only a few blocks away. I also took the opportunity to get exercise in every morning on the close-by running routes. I almost want to keep this place as my own little secret, but they deserve the props too much. Location, Comfort, and Service are amazing. Covid precautions are firmly in place, and it is easy to check in and park and feel safe. The rooms are very comfortable, and the location cannot be beat. You can walk around the corner to an absolutely killer sushi place, or a killer bar in the pizza place. Both offer very nice outdoor dining operations with heat and fire. The service is always exceptional. I choose this place because it is midway between my home and my family in Seattle. I always drag myself in weary from the road, and they really make an effort to take care of me. Jack, the front desk fellow, has been an absolute darling and made me feel so welcome every time I roll in. read more

The front desk staff was amazing, location to the plaza amazing, price per night was great compared to the surrounding hotels. This one star is based on two things. The cleanliness of the room was subpar. In addition to the pictures, we picked up golf balls off of the floor and plastic cups that were on top of the tv cabinet when we checked in. The second reason was the housekeeping staff wore their masks like chin guards and the housekeeping manager (I assume because she was wearing business casual and was giving out room assignments) did not wear hers at all, and when we passed in the hallway she used her walkie talkie to cover her face. They were walking through the hallways without their masks. We had no issues cleaning our own room, we would do the same at home. read more

There are a lot of good things about this place, but if you are sensitive to noise you might need to strategize. I stayed in the animal friendly part that is directly on the street, and I stayed on the first floor because there is no elevator and my dog is old. The neighborhood is quiet but a. There can be travel coaches on the street that idle all night long b. Garbage day is Monday, which you will hear and c. The movement noise from above was audible and regular. Now this was my noise experience on a night during the McKinney fire when my room was completely closed up and the ac was on at all times. That being said, I was fine with it and had a great stay! The ac was great! The water pressure was strong and I could take my dog out really easily. Bed was not too hard and not too soft and I got pretty good sleep considering the smoke. I never used the patio, but I would have loved it in cooler weather. read more

Booked a King bed, got a Queen and still charged for a King room. Allocated two different sets of room keys that did not work. Had to be let into room by management every time we returned. No maid service. Upon returning home, discovered credit card was charged twice and one of the amounts was double the original charge. No explanation or return call from hotel after multiple attempts. We stayed here for the Shakespeare Festival for a couple of days. The lobby is really nice and spacious. The room was adequate, we had a view of the parking lot. It's about a 4 blocks walk to the theater and the shopping area (which is really, really small). They serve a buffet breakfast which is adequate and evening wine/cheese/crackers if you want to partake. The elevator is small and there is a long wait for the one elevator when everyone is up and about or returning in the evening. Our staffer was most helpful and very nice. The rest of the insides of the building reminded me of a very clean nursing home. It could also be due to the fact that a lot of the theater folks there appeared to be seniors. But, the dining room area does remind me of where seniors go to eat or hang out at senior day facilities. It's pretty dark at night walking to and from the theater, so take the main door out. There is a back exit and it looks quite dark at night and a couple of homeless types were hanging around the area. We do like the place and would consider a return visit here if we're in the area again. read more

My expectations for this hotel were low due to our previous experience in Medford, OR. However, as soon as we enter the room, it was clean and organize. Very spacious! We brought a Pack N Play with us for our 10-month old baby, and we also have three-small sized dogs weighing under 15 lbs. This hotel is pet friendly, from what my husband told me they charge $20/pet a night. Cleaning attendants made sure high-touch items such as TV remote control is disinfected and ready to use by putting them in a bag. We're only staying for a night to rest, so my review will only be for a night. I think this is close to Ashland's downtown area. The area has that quaint small-town America feel to it. Arrived and room smelled like dog urine so we asked to be moved to another room but the "manager on duty" (not even sure if he was lying about this) told us there were no more rooms- so another one of us who he hadn't seen went in to the hotel to ask to book a room and he said no problem! Don't stay here. Terrible experience after staying here several times. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO HOT WATER IN MY ROOM. I called the front desk at 8am. Nothing. Went to the front desk at 9am. Still nothing. The manager who I later found out was the owner, said all the other rooms were fine and that they had checked (they hadn't). They said they asked all the other guests and they responded that they had hot water (I'm guessing that was also a lie). The owner refused to work with Expedia/Hotels.com to refund my money. I watched him go check my room and he said the water was hot. 20 minutes previously it wasn't so I asked to see the room again. He took me in, turned on the spout and luke warm water came out and he said, "See, it's hot." No. Just no. It was luke warm and would turn cold in just a few moments. I'm so pissed off. I live near by and only booked a night so I could take a hot bath. Don't stay here. Just don't. read more
