As a roadside motel, not terrible. Not in the best condition overall. Very nice guy at check-in, very nice different guy stocking the continental breakfast. Very loud A/C unit. TV quite old, no sleep timer, no ability to stream, couldn't actually turn off the screen entirely; glad I packed my eye mask. Clean bathroom, clean bed, eclectic room setup with random hangers. I don't visit Medford regularly and I wouldn't stay at Sovana again but for $90, I got my quick overnight (in at 10p, out at 7a.) Felt safe on the property but the McD's across the street seemed to be a haven for druggies ranting and digging through trash. read more

I've got two lots of news for you here, good and bad. Let me start with the good. The manager here is super nice guy. He gave us a ton of helpful advice, including where to shop for groceries (across the street), where to eat (El Arriero), and what to see at Crater Lake. The beds are good. I slept through the night. And the place is quiet. Now for the bad. The light switch lacks a cover plate. Kids can easily stick their fingers into it and get seriously injured. There was no conditioner in the dispenser in the shower. The floor has a screw popping through it which is quite painful when walking on it with bare or shoeless feet. The floors were extremely dirty. Everyone's socks came out coal black when walking on it. And being from Kentucky, I mean coal black. I'm going to have to bleach the heck out of these socks or simply toss them. You have to Swiffer these floors. And, lastly, it has a lot of ants. Now, it's been raining a lot and I get ants at home too, but here's the thing: I dropped well over two "C" notes to stay here. That's more than I spent at the Best Western Plus in Salem, which was like the Taj Mahal in comparison. The value is simply not here. I'd seek other alternatives. read more

This is an excellent value hotel. We had a pleasant check in with friendly staff. The ac and TV were on in our room, which I think is standard when you check in so your room feels homey and cool. Pool is unheated but clean and nice on a hot day.Tables and chairs in pool area for relaxing. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast room was very nice. Plenty of space and a bathroom, TV and comfy chairs, as well as tables. Breakfast was basic, cereal, fruit selection, muffins, coffee and tea, but nice quality. Parking lot is small. Winco is across the street. This is basic accommodation, but we were comfortable for one night. read more

Imagine this; your mom dies suddenly & unexpectedly. You drop everything to drive up from California to handle affairs and discover that there is a country music festival in town that weekend and every motel & hotel room in the city is booked up. Thats the situation my wife and i were in. Out of options we were almost forced to sleep in our car for two days. We found this place, after hours, and the manager was our lifesaver. He explained to us that he had one room available that he couldn't rent since the shower was broken. We explained that we just needed a bed and he opened up the lobby for us, and even rented us the room for two nights at a discount. When he found out the reason for our situation he even gave me a hug, which i needed. The world needs more people like this. read more

This place is a hidden gem. After a long day on the road, I was welcomed here. Everything I needed was there - comfortable bedding, tv was already on when I went to my room and the remote was easy to work. There was a refrigerator that worked, and coffee pot in the room with plenty of coffee, creamers, sugar, etc. The coffee packets were Wolfgang Puck brand (no cheap amenities at this hotel). Even the toilet paper was a higher quality than what I have in my home. It was quiet in spite of being in a busy area. There were plenty of stores and restaurants across the street - Starbucks, WinCo, gas, etc. Walmart was a short rife away. The last surprise was a well-stocked breakfast room with a huge array of breakfast items - Oatmeal, bagels, donuts, fruit, Keurig coffee machines, milk, hot chocolate, etc., etc., etc. Lastly, I thought I left my credit card in my room after I checked out. This was a great 2 star property for a quick overnight stay while traveling back to CA. I called in the evening to assure front desk we'd be arriving at 9:30 PM. They are staffed til 10 pm for check in. Brian was very helpful when he checked us in. We chatted for some time about various things. I love that it is a small business and is a lot more personable. The next morning I went to the breakfast area to get some fruit and tea. I was pleasantly surprised and greeted by first name by Fernando, I believe the owner, when I was walking outside. Despite this being an older property, the rooms have been upgraded and the place is kept clean. The bathroom was simple and clean, with auto dispensers with soaps and lotion. Our room had a coffee maker and mini refrigerator which we did not use or need. The bed itself was comfortable. I did notice the room next door was getting remodeled. When I talked to Fernando, he mentioned that all rooms will have Pergo laminate flooring instead of carpet. I felt that the carpet in our room was immaculate but laminate flooring is even better! The continental breakfast was simple and perfect since we didn't need much. There's coffee, tea, and the kitchen faucet is filtered for drinking only. They provide a nice bowl of whole fruits (cuties tangerine, bananas, and apples). There's also bagels, muffins and condiments. Sovana Inn was much better than the name brand 2 star motels we've stayed at in Medford! I highly recommend them. read more

5 stars for service, 4 for the accommodations. This is a great place for a one-night stop.The staff were super friendly and accommodating. They were quick to respond when we asked for their help. The breakfast was much better than we expected with a variety of fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, granola, etc. The floors and bathroom features were clean. The beds were quite comfortable, and the linens were fresh. Great inexpensive Mexican restaurant nearby, where you can get a 15% discount for Sovana patrons. On the minus side, the motel is showing its age, though you do see effort in the upkeep. The air conditioner was loud. The credit card-type keys didn't always work smoothly. Overall, not perfect, but good value for the price. read more

This Inn truly demonstrate the power of customer service. We are used to 5 stars hotel, but even a 5 stars hotel cannot compete with the 10 stars customer service you are welcomed with here. We decided to do a last minute road trip to Crater Lake and were lucky enough to reserve the last 2 rooms available on the night of. The manger stayed back later to make sure we were properly situated. Rooms were very cleaned and everyone here made you feel very appreciated. We also really enjoyed the continental breakfast served and my husband said it was one of the better coffees he had all trip long. Thank you for an awesome stay! read more

We couldn't find any motel/hotel vacancies in the area when we evacuated due to the Almeda Fire. So we checked bread & breakfast listing and found Sovanna Inn. It is an old motel and had vacancies that didn't last long. The small room had basic amenities and was clean. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was based on Costco muffins. I wouldn't want to stay more than one night here. A single straight-back chair was in the room. There is no lobby, but there is a swimming pool with patio furniture. read more

We forgot to check on their late check in policy but they ended up calling us when we were more than an hour out to inquire when we would arrive. This was a last-minute reservation for us, like, literally, at midnight the night before/same day. I am not a fan of motels, but I did not hesitate at all, after reading all the positive reviews. And for the price, why not! This was very basic, outdated in design, but it is the place to stay if you're just passing through. Our room was very small, cramped, in fact, but it has everything you will ever need--good wifi, lots of electrical outlets (power strip extensions, actually), a clean bathroom, a well-stocked breakfast room, friendly and accommodating staff, a small fridge and microwave, and even a large desk. So really, if you are not a snob, this basic, budget motel is plenty fine! We even got a 15% discount at the Mexican restaurant across the street, which by the way, serves a very weak Margarita, unfortunately. read more

We were pleasantly surprised with how nice the Sovana Inn was. From the outside it looks clean and simple but the rooms and service are definitely a 5 Star! We were kindly greeted by Fernando who is possibly the most attentive gentleman in the hospitality industry. Our room was VERY clean, the beds were comfortable and the room decor was modern. The pool was clean and just what we needed after our 12hr Drive. The breakfast room was spacious with a continental breakfast of bagels with cream cheese, muffins, fresh fruit, cereals and fresh coffee. Parking was easy. There's a Walgreens next door and a shopping center across the main road with good food options. We highly recommend Toku Japanese restaurant! The ramen and sushi was delicious . We were checked out already and Fernando called us about 15 minutes after we had left to let us know that they checked our room and found a couple of our personal items. This was a relief! In all our years of travel we've never had a hotel call us about items left behind. If anything, I've called them just to be told they didn't find anything when I KNOW my item was left there. After reading reviews on here, I decided to give it a try. Everyone was right, the customer service was very good and really felt like family. I had troubles logging into their wifi and the man at the front desk spent quite awhile helping to find the problem and rebooting their server. Also recommended some good places to eat and that had discounts if you stayed there and also advised we get gas since it's more expensive in CA. The place was clean and spotless inside with tons of extra pillows, tv, refrigerator and microwave. Very quiet place too with comfortable beds. On the way out, we got a good smile and a wave from the man from the front desk. I'll think of this when I look back on my memories of the trip to Phoenix, AZ read more

The Sovana is a pretty good motel. We stayed here one night on our way back from vacation in California. This was my first time in Medford. The only thing I knew about Medford beforehand is that Medford is near Ashland and that the summers here are brutally hot. Our room at the Sovana was equipped with the basics, including a fridge and microwave. Sheets and towels were fine. Like in most other hotels, Wifi was OK but not great. I did find a couple of the hotel policies a little off-putting. When I made reservations, they insisted on knowing the exact hour we would be checking in. On a road-trip-style vacation that can be a little difficult to predict (road construction has an amazing way of trashing travel plans). When we did check-in, the gal at the front desk remarked that we weren't too much later than when we said we would get there. Also, the hotel had a strict rule that we as guests were forbidden to bring unregistered guests to our room. It's not that I was planning on going to a Medford bar with the intent of picking up somebody for a romp in the hay, but still, that's my business. But aside from those quirks, I still can recommend Sovana. read more

An older building in which the rooms have been upgraded with new floors and paint. Nice tub and towels. Comfortable mattress, but worn headboard and side stands, desk and drawers. Great breakfast room and offerings of a Continental breakfast. Fernando's service, professionalism, friendliness, and pride in his work were outstanding. We are seniors, and he made sure to accommodate all our needs. Parking is limited, but we were able to park outside our room. Signs are out that state the area is under video and audio surveillance. That was comforting as the Sovana is on busy Barnett Road. This was a great one-night stop for us on our way north. read more

HIDDEN GEM! This little hotel is easy to find, priced right and a pleasant surprise! My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way to McMinnville to see family. We were surprised at how clean and comfortable our room was. The sheets smelled fresh and clean, not like bleach like most hotels. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything we needed; coffee maker, mini fridge, TV, and a microwave! The continental breakfast did not disappoint. I've long been searching for a clean, comfortable, reasonably priced spot somewhere between Redding and Medford to break up the trip from Eugene to Home. Think I may have finally found it with the Sovana Inn. Check-in was friendly, bed was comfortable. Bathrooms had just been redone and were simple but clean. Wifi was free and functional. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was cereal, bagels, muffins, and fruit. Pool was a non-factor as it was November. I can't go 5 stars here because it does suffer from the same flaw of all budget motels - thin walls. There were some frogs chatting up a storm and running up and down the stairs early in the morning, and while I'm not a light sleeper, it did wake me up a bit earlier than desired. read more

What a great little motel! Fernando at the front desk was so kind and helpful, and very welcoming. The room I stayed in was immaculate and very comfortable. Fernando even let me know that they hadn't had anyone stay there for two nights prior because of COVID, which is really amazing for safety and feeling secure -- though I can imagine has been hard for them to make work. They also had free breakfast, which they had prepackaged for safety/comfort. The stay was more than worth the cost (which, for the record, was the same as the Motel 6 down the road), and I would absolutely stay again if I'm in Medford. Would highly recommend. read more

Bryan is an amazing host! The rooms are upscale and very thoughtfully equipt. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the soap dispensers were filled with quality hair and body products. The parking lot seems like it has a force field around it...feels like a safe place. We booked this room for a one night stay on our trip from Calistoga, CA to Bend, OR. I chose this old style motel, since we would only be staying one night and wanted a "motel" style room. I love having one night stays in motels with outside entrance doors and free parking. Easy to get in and out without all the formalities of valets, taking an elevator, etc. Before our visit, Brian called us to ask what time we expected to check in, since the temperatures were dropping. He wanted to start the heater in our room before we arrived so we would be comfortable. He also asked what floor we would like to be on. When we arrived, I was delighted to find a very old style motel with an outdoor swimming pool. This place is just so cool. The rooms are retro, but wonderfully comfortable and clean, freshly painted and the bathrooms are spotless. It is like modern retro. The rooms are furnished with a microwave, television, coffee and coffee maker and a television. The 60's furniture and art are groovy. Brian is a great inn keeper. He went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. He is so genuinely thoughtful. If you only appreciate upscale hotels with valets, porters and concierges, this is not the place for you. This might be the best place ever to spend a night while traveling to your next destination. read more

The room was clean, especially the bathroom. Cleanest bathroom we have ever encountered. The beds were comfortable, not hard. Great Location. Restaurants are within walking distance. I highly recommend the The Roster Restaurant for breakfast or lunch. (They are not open for dinner). The gentleman who checked us in was extremely nice as was the lady who checked us out in the morning. Very helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel. The only down side is the exterior. It needs curb appeal. They need to paint it an elegant soft shade of grey with maybe highlights in a darker grey. Pulling up to the hotel can be a bit harsh, but because of all the good reviews we were willing to take a chance and glad we did. read more

The only downside is the neighboring properties. However all you need to know is the name Brian. Brian will check you in and make sure that you have everything you need for everything and where the discount meals are at and what the Wi-Fi code is and he'll program it in your phone for you and when you get back from the hospital at 10:00 at night and the key doesn't work he comes running down to get you into your room. The room itself is her hardwood floor a nicely remodeled bathroom it's got the mini fridge the microwave the coffee pot air conditioner for the price I paid which was $68 this is a very nice room and you cannot beat the service that you can get from Brian and the rest of the staff. And the absolute best part if you're doing anything at Asante medical center it's three blocks away. That's an easy peasy commute. If I have to come up here again for Asante work I will definitely stay at this hotel again no problem hands down. read more

This little gem is AMAZING!!! Brian the gentleman at the front desk went above and beyond what I would have ever expected. He waited for us to arrive after calling at 10:45pm on a weeknight. He arranged it so we could have our trailer with quads on it parked right in front of one of our rooms so we could keep an eye on it, and he even made sure we were settled in before leaving for the night. The room itself was really nice and clean. The beds comfy, wonderful pillows, and all of the linens including the towels all smelled nice and clean like at Grandma's. Nice little touches too, extension cords come out from behind both beds so you can plug your phones in. Love it! HUGE real closet like at home. I've stayed in 5 star hotels, and this place by far has the best customer service!! Would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone traveling through Medford. I would give it more stars if I could. So don't judge this little book by its cover, what it lacks in curb appeal, it more than makes up with its wonderful staff and great accommodations. Stay here if you can. Traveling for business and found this little gem! From the outside this place is OK. The desk clerks are very friendly & accommodating. We've stayed twice now and had the same room & experience! The room has older furniture but the room is surprisingly CLEAN! Even the bathroom-SPOTLESS! I like how there's bottled water for the coffee maker. Room has mini fridge & microwave. Bathroom has soap & lotion dispensers and shampoo/conditioner & body wash in the shower. Towels are bright white, non scratchy and smell good! The beds are comfortable. There's clean sheets, blankets & coverlets. The pillows are adequate. A nice clean swimming pool & lounge chairs are available too. There's a nice cold breakfast in a very nice lounge. Fruits, pastries, bagels, cold cereal, yogurt, juices, coffee & tea. Winco, Walgreens and a bunch of other places are within walking distance. Gotta say, this is my go to place when I'm in town. I found Sovana Inn on Yelp with a 5 Star rating, So I thought hey let me check it out. The prices weren't bad for 2 adults 2 beds and complimentary breakfast. Laurie actually was really kind and gave me a full breakdown of all prices and how the stay would be. Bryan also gave us his parking space is since we had high quality equipment with us. So, this is a nice, pretty clean older motel that's been in the Medford area since the 60's. Until the new owner changed things up it was known as a long-term, affordable motel and as usually happens with those type of accommodations, maintenance was pretty dismal. The new owners have breathed new life into the Solvana, but the old girls age is still showing through the cosmetic upgrades. The surfaces of the furniture is deeply scratched (a little Old English would work wonders) from years of abuse, the baseboard is old and scuffed, there is a large, inexpensive print off-center above the headboard, there's a coffee pot in the room and no coffee, poorly patched holes in the drywall, stains in the carpet, and the room still had an odor because of its past history. Oh, and I found hair attached to the wainscot header. The positives? Comfy bed, quiet, clean tub with plenty of hot water, and friendly staff. I think their room prices are a bit high considering the mediocre condition of the motel, BUT, in the Medford area it is an affordable place to spend the night in a comfy, clean motel. Would I stay here again? Yes. Would I recommend it? To those on a budget, yes. read more
