I ask her why no one called me because I had to drive 30 minutes to get there and she said she called but didn't leave a voicemail "because that doesn't work out for them". I left mad and asked for the owner to call and the owner proceeds to tell me how I should have googled at what week is was appropriate and she was sorry that I didn't like how her customer service manager responded. She was rude and condescending and refused to address the customer service issue I called about. She made the entire situation my problem because I shouldn't have made the appointment but didn't want to acknowledge the customer service and communication break down. The website should be updated to reflect what services and to whom they are offered, the staff should learn how to handle customers and the owner needs to take responsibility and accountability for customer service concerns. I've never had such a terrible customer service interaction let alone from an owner that refused to even listen and address my issue. I also looked at legitimate local spa websites and they clearly define who, when and how long pregnancy massages should be.

We were offered water and fruit while we waited. The interior was clean with multiple private/semi-private treatment rooms. Both ladies were very polite although with limited English. They started with foot soak while doing shoulder/neck/arm massage. The foot reflexology used a lot of pressure, but we felt so much better afterwards. They finished with a brief leg massage. My wife and I booked a couples spa day about a month and a half ago. This is important on why it…read morewas booked so far in advance. My wife and I were in Short Pump and decided we wanted to schedule our couples spa day so she called the Short Pump location. I was sitting beside her and they were on speaker phone while she scheduled. They kindly asked if "your husband" would be ok with a male massage therapist. This is a no for me and always will be. It's my personal preference and will never change. My wife said no and they told us it would be about a month before they could accommodate us. We showed up on our scheduled date after working extra late the day before because it takes us an hour to drive to this location and we know it would take up our whole day. After sitting in my sauna for 20 minutes I sat there waiting for 10 minutes for my therapist, who, to my surprise was a male. I explained I did not want a male therapist. He was polite and I thought was going to tell me to wait a few minutes while he figured this out. Instead he said "go ahead and get dressed and go to the front". So that's what I did expecting an employee or manager to come figure out what needed to be done. It's also important to know once he told me this I told him to tell my wife because I know she would have gotten up and left. He said to me "Oh, she's probably started her treatment". He did not walk me to the front or talk to me after in any way. The staff sat at the front desk whispering back and forth so much that I felt uncomfortable and decided to wait outside. 2.5 hours later I get a call saying it's time for my facial. I explained what happened and told them it was a terrible experience and they said sorry and I won't be charged. She also said she would have a manager contact me. Guess what, not contact has been made to me directly. However, my wife called and let them know just how bad and unprofessional this experience was. The manager, Kendall, agreed and said this is unacceptable and she was going to contact upper management to see what they could do. After Kendall failed to contact my wife as promised she called her. Now Kendall told my wife I lied, that never happened, there staff did nothing wrong and they could offer me 20% off if I come back in. Let me be clear on how I feel about Scents and Serenity. I would rather chew my own fingers off than step foot into that spa again. I will eat the money I wasted on this place rather than be treated so badly, called a liar and listen to the excuses the staff made to protect their mistakes. It was clear and I heard my wife directly state I wanted a female therapist and they agreed and scheduled a later date. Oh, let me also explain that my wife probably hadn't even started her session and had a female therapist. They easily could have corrected this by switching. We would have been completely fine with that. And time wasn't an issue. We started 10 minutes early to the excuse of "you wouldn't have gotten all your time" is irrelevant. Look, I'm sure people may love that place. Everything is good until it isn't and the way the manager handled this showed my their attitude towards all their clients behind closed doors and money is the only thing that matters to them.

In those years, I can literally count just one therapist that I experienced that exceeded my expectations, prior to this massage. All others fell short...and I don't mean "just barely". I mean so bad, they made me question whether they actually received an education, or were simply hanging fraudulent certifications and licensures on their walls. Stress Free Therapeutic Massage (Miss Lydia) reminded me of how remarkable a skilled massage therapist can be. From start to finish, she was indeed incredible! My husband purchased me a 90 minute Groupon. After leaving a message on her voicemail, I received a text message, requesting that I visit the website to schedule. She was booked out somewhat ahead, which now makes perfect sense. As someone who's worked in the field, I understand the importance of being on time for your appointment; there is often paperwork involved for first time visits, and most therapists run a pretty tight schedule, not allowing much idle time between clients. Therefore, if you're late, it runs into the next clients appointment, leaving the therapist faced with cutting your time short, which is often a difficult decision, because they certainly don't want to lose you as a client either. Finding the facility was somewhat tricky for me; I had a small commute to the office, and I wasn't familiar with the area. For reference, this place sits in the back of a building that says "Chiropractor" on the front. If you're looking at Pancho Villa, it's right to the left of the restaurant. Parking is in a lot in the back of the building. Lydia's office is up the steps, to the second floor. Upon arrival (at just after 1pm for my 1:30pm appointment), one of her clients was just heading out. Just as expected, I had some short paperwork, and she got me in 10 minutes early, at 1:20pm. She started with me face down, which ironically is my preferred method. She started on my back, focusing on my noted trouble points (low back and neck). Her pressure remained steady and consistent throughout the massage, showing that she was a seasoned professional. She has great deal of physical stamina and excellent manual dexterity. I personally prefer a firm pressure, and she achieved the perfect level of pressure throughout. She ended the massage just on time, at 10 till 3pm. At no point did I feel like I wasn't receiving the upmost attention and care. Lydia remained professional and skilled, utilizing a variety of techniques. She possesses the ability to use different modalities/approaches to address her clients' needs. Her facility is clean, her demeanor is warm, welcoming and professional. I highly recommend her!
