This place is a convenient location and it's pretty nice inside. They just re did their snack bar and turned into more into a elegant like area. They have plenty of beer and even Jell-O shots. The lanes aren't anything special but they work. My one complaint would be the older gentleman with grey hair at the front desk. Every single time me and my husband go he is rude and condescending. Today an old man collapsed and passed out. Someone told him what happened and to call 911. The man replied with I'm busy helping someone right now. Are you kidding? Fun bowling alley. I've been coming here a lot. Food is great in the bar area and staff is good. Only negative is it is hard to get lanes and they leave lanes open for long periods of time while there is a waitlist of customers. It never makes any sense why they do this. read more

I'm not sure what it is about these bowling alley's in Charleston, I didn't think anything could be worse than allowing folk to smoke at Sandpiper, but the equipment here was constantly getting stuck and this was the first and dare I say the only bowling alley I've ever gone to that sells jello shots.......red, green, purple, and blue......what the heck! read more

Never coming back here again. Races against black people. The "Acting Management" of the night was very unprofessional. I went up to let them know that the game wasn't working properly and they dragged there feet. Followed by when a non African American Game came up to let them know their game wasn't working... they had the game fixed quickly with no problems. I had to go up three times for us to get a result but by that time I didn't wanna bowl any longer. With that being said, I'll never recommend them again due to service and glitches in their system. I want my money back or a game back for my party. This is so horrible. Our wedding party night ended early cuz of this trash alley. I'll be contacting management!!!! The burger was good, but they played horrible rap "music" the whole night. We would have bowled another game or two, but can't stand listening to that crap. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. The service was horrible beyond measured. Not to mention nobody was wearing a mask nor were people social distancing. We waited for a lane for 2 hours, while we waited we got some food and some drinks and sat at a table. The lane nearest to us were done bowling and still had one game left that they paid for so they offered us to bowl their last game for them, we accepted their offer. While we are bowling, they called 3 parties to tell them their lanes were ready, meanwhile they had told us 30 min prior that we were the next party. They never called our names. After a few turns bowling in the lane that had been given to us, we tried going up to ask if we could pay for more games to be added to the lane that had been given to us. They kicked us out and threatened to call the cops for "stealing". Moral of the story, don't waist your time trying to go here. The most unprofessional staff I had ever met. I am disgusted read more

The owner/general manager is a bitter man. The center cares more about open bowlers, groups of people who get trashed - rather than loyal league bowlers and people with tenure. The bar is a great place, but the bowling center treats people poorly. All about money I guess nowadays. read more

Went to Ashley Lanes last night and had a terrible, homophobic experience. After a game and a half of bowling, decided to take a picture with my girlfriend for fun. She kissed me on the cheek for the picture and an employee rushed over and told us that "being the way we are in a family establishment isn't ok with the owner" and that we needed to stop "kissing all over the place." It was beyond shocking and was the first and only form of discrimination I've ever experienced in the Charleston area. Not only does the owner have his employees enforcing his discriminatory policies against gay couples, he also doesn't allow "hoodies or sunglasses" inside. I first went in and the guy at the front looked pissed off and miserable. but that's not a what is causing me to give this bad review...I went in with my siblings and our friends and one of our friends went to jokingly throw backwards between his legs but didn't notice the lane wasn't reset yet and the ball hit the machine. They turned off our lane and when my friend asked if they would turn it back on and the guy working here stormed over across the place to get up in his face and and started screaming at swearing at him OVER A MISSED BALL. He didn't calm down even though my friend wasn't screaming back. My sister got up to ask him to calm down when he PUSHED HER (a tiny 115lb girl) and started swearing at her to back the fuck away ALL BECAUSE MY FRIEND MADE AN ACCIDENT. He did not apologize to her and we were all made extremely uncomfortable. Way to make our family day great! read more

They're the last traditional bowling alley left in Charleston, but sadly, that probably won't be enough to keep them in business much longer, due to poor management, lousy customer service, and computer equipment that malfunctions and inconveniences every lane. Friendly, reasonable service can make up for a rundown, dirty atmosphere, but they don't even have that, at least among the owners/management. This place was terrible. I should have known when I saw the reviews on Yelp. I took 7 kids to play that had not played before or had inly bowled a coupe of times in their life. The guy at the front desk was totally rude! He refused to put the bumpers up for the kids when we had grown adults beside up with the bumpers up. When I questioned him about it he said that they had a kid with them. He went on to say that my kids would tear the bumpers up at 10 years old!!! I was so mad and he continued to be rude. I told him we would never be back to this bowling alley again and would be sure to write our reviews on Yelp about his terrible attitude. He acted as if he did not care at all. What absolutely horrible customer service. Our lane went down twice, both with 20 minute waits for it to be fixed. Things happen, but the attitude we received from the two men working was terrible. We paid to bowl, we would like to bowl. That's an issue without even mentioning that my girlfriend and I paid to bowl two games on our lane, bowled 1 game, and the got told that all of the games on our lanes had been used, we would have to purchase more. $23 for the original 2 games (plus shoes), then $8 more dollars for another game. We paid for 3, and only got two. Maybe we can get drunk and forget our worries? No, a single pitcher of beer is $14. How ridiculous. I would give this place 0 stars if I could, you should never give this business your money. read more

Came to enjoy my birthday (came from NC) and unfortunately did NOT have a good time. Took my family and I about 15-20mins to even find bowling balls to use due to the lack of bowling balls available. The bowling alley should invest more in popular size balls like 8, 9, 10. When confronting staff in searching for some balls, they did not help nor seem to care. Then they put a family of literally 10 people (few adults and mostly children) on ONE lane right beside us. Due to the lack of sitting area (there's only 4 seats in each lane), we were all on top of each other. Once we spoke to staff, they were able to give a refund (although they claim they don't do refunds). Maybe because it was a Saturday late afternoon but the overall organization, structure, and operation of the bowling alley should be revamped. Overall, do NOT go to this bowling alley especially on a Saturday afternoon. read more

Went here to celebrate with friends. The location was clean and everything was in working order. The staff didn't make much of an impression either way, but in our case it didn't matter. There is a minimum charge if you use a credit or debit card, so be aware that renting shoes is not possible unless you are doing it with multiple people or are also paying for a lane. There are plenty of lanes, and they will put you on a waiting list if they are all full so that you can hang out in their lounge. read more

We went there last month and had a good experience. So I decided to take my family last Saturday and when I got to the counter to tell the cashier that I wanted to pay for games for my family which included my children, we were told that since we needed bumpers for the kids that we would have to have the kids bowl on separate lanes than us. I asked why and was told that the bumpers weren't rated for adults, I told her that we were there just last month and were all able to bowl together, the cashier then told me that the owner made those new rules. So we decided to just leave, that is just stupid, we are coming to bowl as a family not coming to bowl separately so we decided to go to SandPiper lanes on Ashley Phosphate and didn't have that problem, we were all able to bowl on the same lane. So we will not be going back to Ashley Lanes since they are not family oriented. read more

After a friend hit the bar by accident, our lane was immediately shut down and the person in charge got in my friend's face swearing. When my friend apologized and told him it was an accident, he continued to harrass him. I stepped in and asked the man the please back away from my friend, he then swore at me, telling me to get out of his face. Last night, I was very disappointed and so was my son and husband. I have been going to this bowling alley (ASHLEY LANES) since I was a little girl along with my twin sister and I really don't understand why the owner refused to provide my 7 year old with bumpers. When we got there, I asked if they had any lanes available with bumpers, the man looked around and said no. My husband and I (after talking with someone) became informed that the lane we were on(lane #24) had bumpers, so my husband talked to the guy and he would not provide us with bumpers regardless that we are paying customers ($34.00), and I went and spoke with him and asked if he could provide us with bumpers or if we could wait for a lane that we could use with bumpers, and he replied, "I told you, I am not doing bumpers tonight". I said, "Sir, you said that there were no lanes available with bumpers, and that is not the same as "your not doing bumpers"". I can't believe that a man who owns a bowling alley that has been around since I was born, is refusing to provide his customers with what already is presumed as part of the "bowling package" of which is what we paid for. I hope we can get a new owner. This is the last bowling alley in West Ashley, and we have always enjoyed this activity as a family event- as a special occasion for all of us to have fun. Why is bumpers even an option when in all reality it is part of what we paid for. It is crazy that someone who doesn't want to deal with children or help make them happy along with his customers runs a bowling alley which is indeed a family oriented entertainment business. read more

We love Ashley Lanes. We go on Wednesday nights for $12 all you can bowl and occasional Monday's for $1.50 games. The staff has become friends to us. It's the last traditional bowling alley in charleston. We don't want bells and whistles....we want bowling. Ashley Lanes provides it! read more

Horrible! Came with our children and friends and the man would not put up bumper. He said our kids were too big. Ages 10-15. A couple lanes down the bumpers were up for a family where the dad was least 250lbs and wife about 180lbs. What a shame not to mention they got struck so many times we had to keep moving lanes.
