Lovely spot! Definitely a classy difference to the neighboring restaurants which makes this a great place to come for a special occasion. Moody lighting, beautiful decor and good service. You can't go wrong with any of the menu items but I especially enjoyed their vegetarian option for a burger.

Overall Ashten was great. Ostrich meatball appetizer was very good; served with lots of Mediterranean accouterments. I had the fish and chips which were exactly what I was craving. My friend had the Salmon, which he said was probably the best he's ever had. Cocktails were on point, although there was a little snafu with my friend's Rob Roy, at first. I had the Speak of the Devil. That small snafu didn't diminish the experience. The owners and waitstaff were very apologetic. We'd highly recommend Ashten's.

We love going out of our way for this awesome restaurant. Chef Matt knocks it out of the park with his flavors and local ingredients. Service is perfect and all staff were so kind. We loved all the food we had, but especially the garlic cream mussels and roasted duck. Great for a date night or special occasion.

We sat outside on a gorgeous November evening. Ambiance was wonderful. Tried the Reuben egg rolls and they were as good as the other reviews had suggested. I tried the mahi mahi special which was served over wild mushrooms mixed with roasted potatoes. (Photo doesn't do it justice, every bite was divine). Hubby had the bacon bleu burger with skinny fries (or, as the French would say, "pommes frites"). We recommend this place for fresh, well-plated food with great atmosphere in Southern Pines.

This locally owned, farm-to-table, gem is in the heart of Southern Pines! Enjoy the ever changing menu in the relaxed environment in the main dining area or the bar! It is a must try!

I went to O'Donnell's again recently while in town for training with a local firearms trainer. I…read morerealized something important: the only reason this bar is tolerable is that I'm typically there with the trainer, who is well-known in the community. Thus, I get treated as a friend-of-a-friend, not an outsider. Otherwise, I surely would have experienced even more of the negative things these other folks are posting about than I already have. Bottom line, this place is a freaking dive, is filthy, and has awful service. The employees mostly have attitude problems-- I was looked at funny when simply ordering a beer, as if they didn't want my business because I wasn't one of their regulars. This is nowhere to take a client, a co-worker, a friend, or anyone else whom you want to have a respectable experience. The only reason I go here is that the trainer goes here all the time and they have a good beer selection-- and there's nothing else I'm really wanting to do after being on the gun range all day. Also, they have a pool table and it's two blocks from the Jefferson Inn, where I normally stay while in town. The staff needs a major attitude adjustment, and also compliance training so they don't over-serve. This should be a place where customers are welcomed, not a locals-only watering hole where I can barely get service. This place is often empty, while there are other establishments in town that are crushing it and are always packed, so obviously folks are voting with their feet.

Instead, I opted for the crab cakes appetizer which they touted as a signature dish. I was disappointed to find that the cakes were mostly filler and harbored no lumps of crab at all. They were very much like the ones you get frozen at the store. For $18, I expected more. The fried shrimp were okay but not exceptional. The potatos were mashed red skin. This was a very average experience and okay for a fast bute but wouldnt go out of my way to eat there.

Curds were so undercooked, they came to the table flat. Pimento was flavorful, but soupy - how on absolute earth do you make watery pimento cheese? Entrees were good. There is a lot of seating here - good for large groups. Waitress spilled a lot of my martini on the way to delivering & as she placed it on the table. She was very pleasant, but shouldn't the spilled half of my drink be replaced? Don't use the QR code to pay!!!! I used it, received "pending" confirmation from my credit card, & manager asked me to let them run it manually because she wasn't "sure if it went through" because their system doesn't tell them. She wasn't polite, but i wasn't really given an option: I had to pay twice because they don't know their own system. I now have two Dugan's charges still pending .... Time will only tell if I'm going to have to take my time to call the restaurant to get them to fix it.

I was so intrigued I looked up the history of the building, and the automotive companies that inhabited the building before the restaurant. Were you around when the Pontiac show room always had a white Christanas tree in the main window for Christmas? The food was upscale pub food. The Onion rings were delicious. The Sloppy Joes were memerable and I loved my chicken salad. Most importantly, the drinks were great. I would love to stop by again.

We went to Five Points Public house for a weekday lunch and only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. The food was good, the interior architecture is nice to look at, and we will be back. The restaurant is a mix of booths and tables with chairs. You can tell the building is old, but had been tastefully worked into a restaurant by the age on the exposed brick within. The whole front of the restaurant faces one of the main roads for downtown, and has large windows that bring in tons of natural light. This place is good for a date night, a group gathering, or anything in between. There's even some bar seating if that's your thing. Our table got the French dip and a make-your-own burger. The French dip was easily shared by my little and me, as the portion size was large. The build-your-own-burger comes exactly as you want it, cooked to your temperature preference, but I will say the patty could have had more seasoning on it. The onion rings are amazing, and the onion adheres perfectly to the batter. One thing I hope to be able to use in the future is the Pontiac Room, which is their second story event space. They have a nice sign that gives details about the space, and I truly believe it would be good for wedding receptions, large parties, or large group gatherings. I don't know if there is an elevator to this space, so you'd need to check on that should your group have mobility concerns. Overall, this is a place that we will bring the whole crew to in the future.
