Brandons a dope guy to talk with. He doesnt make you feel rushed in conversation and he doesnt avoid your phone call even though it may be one any other human may be reluctant to receive and I appreciated that. When my vehicle broke down after leaving the shop I was devastated cuz i thought we fixed the problem. But we ended up doing something else to the Ford that did not necessarily need to be done. So i mean in theory i spent 250 for them to diagnose the problem since they didnt charge me a diagnostics fee. These people are dope to work with. Had hella valuables in my van and nothing was touched and he could of possibly got away with more on the supplier side of things and proposed radiator work to be done that also would be throwing my money down the drain since we found it was the heads with a simple squeegee test to the radiator. So ya def helped me with my Ford of Livermore situation. Took my Odyssey to the Honda Dealership for a routine oil change. Coming out, they recommended a laundry list of items to fix including changing my transmission fluid. They were able to get the job done the same day and do so while I stopped by the nearby shops. Spoke with Steve and he mentioned that this place has been here for 20+ years. Brief: Professional, approachable and they know their shi*t!! Scenario: Went for a car oil change for my Honda Accord 2012 SE Step by step: Made an appointment over phone for car oil change. I was told to stop by at 2 pm and the guy was waiting for me. Handed over keys, they asked to come back in 20 minutes. They checked tire pressure, changed oil and returned extra oil in my 5 quarts bottle. I asked for improving car milage and he checked my air filter (which he found dirty :( :( ) and suggested to change it. He gave directions where to get it and didn't even charged me for changing air filter. Amazing guys, took reasonable time and charged me only $20 for oil change + air filter change (I bought my oil+ filter from Walmart). I've been a Ashtons customer since 2015. I've always recommended them; friends, family, and coworkers. They've always come through with fair prices and honest work. Best option in terms of price and customer service Dublin/San Ramon area. Update: One issue I had while having water pump gasket replaced. This particular mechanic bent a sensor, caused the car to sound like a lawn mower when I drove away. I brought the car back and I wasn't welcomed. They were very defensive and argued that I was to blame. They refused to help, but I am car savvy and have my own OBD that proved my case. Had I not owned a OBD car diagnostic scanner that definitively proved they caused the issue than they would not have helped me. I never received an apology and they seemed annoyed to have to fix what their mechanic broke. For the most part I still think they are one of the better repair shops and still recommend them, but I have not returned. read more

My heart is broken because the sweet little convertible I unwisely bought off Craigslist from a stranger needs a whole new engine, but the sting is lessened because Jeff didn't take advantage of my total motor vehicle ineptitude. He actually said, "I'd love to take your good money but I can't do that in good conscience." Moral of the story: before you buy a used car from a stranger, take it to Jeff to check out. I took my Honda Odyssey in to get its brakes checked. I had new brake pads put in before we drove out from Colorado. By the time we left Yosemite, they were hot and gave off a burning smell. Steve adjusted my brakes for free, explaining in lay terms what was wrong with them. He even gave me notes in detail explaining what was wrong & what he fixed. I've had head gaskets serviced on mustang, ford 8.8 rear end swapped, fleet vehicles serviced, "Classic" 240z worked on. Not only the vehicles I own and manage serviced or smogged, but I've recommended family and friends. I've been going here long enough that I've had to bring a car back. My first impression of this place is wow! I called around to a bunch of places to get quotes on how much the service I wanted was and how much in advance I had to make an appointment. They were able to see me the same day and without an appointment. The price wasn't cheap nor was it expensive. It was reasonable and about the same as what I would get at most other places. Definitely cheaper than the dealership. The location is tucked away in a small shopping center so unless you're looking for it, you won't find it. If I didn't have my GPS on me, I wouldn't have seen it. Where this place really shines is customer service and their work. The work was very thorough and they even briefly inspected other components in the same proximity as where I ordered work. The guy who answered the phone and who I dealt with, Steve, was very friendly and helpful. I would have to say he was the friendliest out of the 10 other local places I called. They were very honest unlike most other places so when they say you need to get work done, you really do. It's not like some other places where they always push you to get services you don't need and using the line "in the worst case scenerio..." to nearly scare you into getting the service done like a lot of places do. All in all I highly recommend this place to get your car serviced. They are honest , reasonable in price, and seem genuinely friendly to work with. Normally you only find two of the three, but this place has all three. I will definitely come back here for all my major car work and will recommend this place to anyone who asks. read more

These guys are amazing. I've brought my car in for two different repairs (front brake replacement and power steering replacement). They were honest, fair and blunt in their assessment and recommendations. When I had the first repair (brake replacement) done, I had an issue with the wheel axle breaking after the repair. Thinking I would have to spend even more money, I called in to find out that they would happily replace the part and fix it with no additional charge or hassle. Their primary concern was my safety, and satisfaction with their service. When I got my recent repair completed, they were efficient and quick, knowing I was on a time crunch with a new baby on the way. I have been going here for a while for my oil and filter change except this time when they completely dropped the ball on me and refused to acknowledge their fault. Basically they just didn't do the oil/filter change. My oil level dropped to almost empty within 2 months and tire pressure warning popped up on the dashboard as they normally check tire pressure during oil change. Despite pointing out all these glitches they offered to do an oil change but charging the full amount (75$). I went to another auto shop and got it done for 40$. And one more thing - I had asked them to fix my bulbs. Guess what, i see a warning sign on my dashboard. I see great reviews for this auto shop but what really makes one great is owning up to your mistake and this was a glaring one. i feel cheated. read more

I do most of my own car repairs, but I had some trouble getting the second of my new LCAs installed, and because I wanted to have a professional shop do the wheel alignment anyway, I popped the old one back in and called Ashton Auto for a quote. I actually tried to compare their prices with Wheel Works in Dublin, but no one at Wheel Works bothered to pick up the phone, so that pretty much settled the question for me. At Ashton Auto, I talked with Brandon. He was very professional, upfront, and respectful, which is hard to find in a mechanic, probably because I'm a woman and most mechanics I've met were guys who assumed I don't know what a dipstick is, or how to do basic math. Brandon gave me a fair and transparent quote for the installation and alignment: the number of hours of work he estimated was reasonable, the labor cost per hour was fair for an experienced mechanic, and the overall math worked out. That's as good as it gets, so I brought my car in the next morning. Pedro gave me a ride home, and a few hours later, Brandon called to let me know that I could pick up my car. The final price I paid matched the quote I was given, and my car handles much better now. Both Brandon and Pedro seemed like really good, solid, straight-up guys. Good mechanics aren't cheap, and honest ones are worth their weight in gold. I highly recommend this shop. read more

I was told I needed a new manual transmission, so I took my car here to get a second opinion (just in case). I was quoted $3150, which is slightly lower than the first shop, so I decided to have the work done here. They were great! I spoke to Steve and Brandon, and they were both friendly and knowledgeable. The diagnosis fee was $124, but they waived it since I was having major work done. I took it in Wednesday afternoon and was told it would take 3-5 days or more since the weekend was coming up. My expectation: I go into a shop with a list of the things I want done to my car. I get an estimate for that work in terms of part prices and labor, and how long it'll take. I leave my car, I get a call if they find other things that need to be done so that I can approve it (or not). I come back, get my car, pay something close to what was estimated, and whatever's on the itemized receipt is both expected and actually performed. Seems reasonable, right? Yet other well-reviewed shops I've been to fail in one way or another. These guys pass the test. They actually itemize out *everything* on the bill, and the prices were all within what I'd expect. (Other places I've seen mark up the car parts substantially, or claim more hours than most mechanics would say are needed -- a shop should not take longer to do something than I would.) There wasn't anything unexpected, either. Understand that good, certified mechanics are not cheap and are well worth the money (hey, if you want a cheap fix, go have some high school kid do it, but don't be too surprised if he forgets to put the oil bolt back in or substitutes coolant for engine oil). This shop's prices were similar as the others I called, and the service was excellent. They were straightforward about what needed to be fixed and why (and it was consistent with what I know about my car), and what could be fixed or held off until later (along with an estimate of how long I could reasonably expect to wait), and I didn't get the usual bullshit that most mechanics give me simply because I'm a woman. They test drove my car to make sure the brakes were fine before returning it. They even dropped me off at home so I could do some work while they serviced my car, and then picked me up when it was ready. Like I said, excellent service. I generally do the basic maintenance on my car myself. These guys impressed me enough that if a big job comes up or I'm too busy to do something, I'm comfortable taking my car to them.
