I was purchasing a car nearby and came into the shop for a pre purchase inspection. The price for the PPI was competitive and the inspection itself was comprehensive. The guys here seem like great guys and I appreciated their insight and knowledge. If I lived in the area I would definitely frequent this establishment for work and smog. If you want a job done correctly & everything explained to you come to Dublin Auto & Smog. Been bringing my car here for a couple years and they've serviced 2 of my BMWs. All I can say is Angel and his staff are always on top of it! In my experience, they have a quick turnover on getting your car back to you too. I've never had to be without a car for more than a day or two, but usually they can get me in and out in the same day. If you have a European car, I highly recommend this spot! read more

I had an appointment to get my car worked on when within being minutes away, POOOOOOF, I hear my tire hit something and air immediately start coming out. What a bummer!!! But I was in luck. I made it to the appointment and this place was right next door and willing to help me out. I had a spare and they very quickly got the bad tire off and swapped it. The puncture was way too bad to try and patch it, and they were really honest with me on what were my best options. I plan to keep this place handy now after being impressed with how they handled my car, how they treated me, and learning about all the cool customizations they do to cars as well. Super quick and efficient! Very easy to make an appointment online. The actual smog check was only like 10-15 minutes and they had a waiting room with a vending machine and seating and a bathroom. You go in through the back of the building to find the smog check area. Park and enter the entrance doors and give them your dmv slip! read more

DON'T GO HERE IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER CAR!!! About a year ago I took my 1990 Porsche here and after failing smog, I was told that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced because the number had been scraped off, and it had been cut open and welded shut. "we can see where it's been cut and tampered with." They told me the only fix was to buy a new $1500 catalytic converter. After taking my car to a reputable shop we looked at the catalytic converter and determined that not only was the number STILL VISIBLE (there were some scrapes but it was legible) but also that it had clearly never been opened and the welds were sealing a small crack in the pipe. After further investigation the cause of the failed smog was traced back to some dirty injectors and a loose spark plug wire connection, totaling a few hundred dollars. If you own an older car, know that these guys seem to have no clue what they're doing or any good idea of what engine conditions lead to what emission outputs. I am very disappointed with the service here. read more

Hi my name is Angel and I have been working on cars since 2000 when I used to help my dad service our vehicles at home. I started my automotive career in high school auto program then took courses at a community college where I received my ASE Master Mechanic. I have worked at mom and pop shops until 2007 when I went into work for the dealers I have worker for BMW, Mercedes, And Jaguar. Started another business with my partner at Alcosta Automotive Repair and then after all these years and planning finally opened my own.

He said no problem as I waited for him to redo the invoice and print another one. The price dropped 50 cents. I told him that the card fee is showing more than that. He said no it isn't and still charged me more than what was right. This place charges a pretty high fee for Smog checks, esp. if you don't have a coupon. Plus, they tack on $20 extra for being a Star Certified required. Yet, this guy wants to charge me a few dollars extra on top of their normal price. I hope shop owners monitor reviews here and somehow stay aware of what their employees might be doing.

Somehow my oil plug drain hole was cross-threaded by a previous service center, which irritatingly were asking over $600 to change out the oil pan. I had heard about a method whereby a slightly oversized self-threading plug could be used and avoid having to replace the pan. I could find no one to do it. All said that it only works on aluminum oil pans and my 2004 Highlander's oil pan is steel. Angel at Dublin Automotive to the rescue. He re-tapped the drain hole for the M12-1.25 plug and applied the oversized plug (M12-1.25 S.O., for single oversized). Success at less than 1/5 the cost, including the oil/filter change. Knowledgeable, efficient and detailed that is my description of Dublin Automotive & Smog. My car had a mind of its own by giving me dashboard notices, such as check engine along and other lights that indicated something was bad wrong. I had to have it towed. The owner diagnosed the problems and gave me a detailed report of his findings. Within 2 working days he had the repairs completed and now my 2013 Hyundai is running great. I am from out of town and needed my truck fixed ASAP when my engine light turned on. I came over to Dublin Auto & Smog based on a recommendation from Autozone right around the corner. I am so thankful I did! DAS explained everything in a way I could understand, pricing was reasonable, and my trucks work was completed on schedule even when I added a couple extra things for them to check out. SCAM DON'T GET FOOLED these reviews are all FAKE! Check out the face of the "Manager " after I left my car for 24 hours after I SCHEDULED to leave my car to they can " fix " it ! Their response to not even touching my car despite you can see the mechanic shop is all EMPTY, imagine my surprise , A stupid smirk and saying " have a good day " Not even an apology!!!! My 2003 Chevy S10 over heated in Manteca and I began looking for shops in the local area there . Thought to myself if only this happened in Dublin I'd go to Dublin Automotive & Smog . Angel & his crew had treated me professionally & quickly, so I called Angel & tooled him what was going on , He was busy with other customers, , but he would be happy to take a look at it. I just took my 2010 Toyota into Dublin Automotive and Smog to get the necessary smog check. It was done quickly and Angel explained all the paper work. I am due for a 90,000 mile tune up and Angel very patiently explained to me all that it would cover. He explained the most cost effective way for me to do it. They scanned my 2010 Prius car at no charge and identified the issues. There would only be a fee if further diagnosis or repairs were needed. The initial scan was very helpful and allowed me to contact the battery company for my Prius battery pack, which is still under warranty. AutoTech is a great place to get an estimate, and Lauren is very responsive. I had a very positive experience and would definitely recommend this shop as an alternative to dealership service.
