I called the entire Bay Area for some shop to remove and install new bushings for my set of control arms (upper and lower). I live in Oakland. You'd think a city of that size would have one shop that has a press and could do this service. Nope, zilch, nada. Useless Oakland. But after countless calls, I finally found two shops. One all the way in San Jose, and this one, Ashton Auto Service. Run by the amazing Steve. He said bring them on. I took my Toyota OEM upper and lower control arms along with a set of 8 Toyota OEM bushings (super expensive). The old weathered old bushings were taken out and the new ones installed the same day. Yup, just like that. Now I have control arms that's going to outlast my 2003 Tundra, lol. I'm so appreciative that this service was available. Steve and crew are super friendly. Recently took our 2017 5.0 Mustang in to Ashton for a manifold issue. Did my research before so knew what I was getting into. The guys at Ashton were awesome, honest and worked with integrity. They advised that my issue was minor and wouldn't cost as much as estimated. However, after further testing and explanation the fix wasn't as minor but they went out of their way to keep the cost down. I had a warped exhaust manifold on my F-150. I did a lot of research before I went in for a repair. I brought my truck to two shops before coming here. I told both of them exactly what I needed, and why. Both shops still managed to mis-diagnose the problem, so I left. I was referred to Ashton by another shop and they assured me that I would be in good hands. The difference this time? Steve, the owner, LISTENED to me. Steve and his mechanic talked to me in detail about the issue, THEN did the inspection with me. I talked to them about the repair in detail. I even shared a YouTube video that helped me explain my issue, as well as to identify some related parts I wanted to replace as a preventative measure Steve never acted like I was trying to do his job for him (unlike the other two shops, where I felt like I was being a burden). Instead, he worked with me to make sure we were on the same page and everything got done right the first time. Here's the best part: This is a major repair. When I dropped off the truck, Steve said he would be done either by the end of the next day or early the following day. "No problem", I said, "I'm in no hurry, take your time". Well, that afternoon I experienced a family emergency. I called Steve the next morning. He not only got the repair done by the end of the day, it was done well before that. Service like that? If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I needed new breaks and rotors asap and a friend recommended I come here because of how honest they are with pricing. I called this morning and just based on how nice the guy over the phone was, I didn't even call anyone else. Brought it in a little after 9 am and it was done by 12:30. I honestly couldn't believe I was getting the call that it was already done. (mind blown) And on top of it Steve replaced some missing lug nuts and changed my oil. What a phenomenal experience. What you get here is top notch customer service with a top notch mechanic team. This place reminds me of the mechanic my grandfather went to. I brought one of my older cars here for a look-over and asked if they can fix some issues. They gave it a thorough look-over, fixed some issues, and wrote a summary at a reasonable price. They identified issues and gave recommendations. They also recommended places in the area specializing in certain things they don't. It's always nice to know when a repair shop quotes a price that they honor their price without surprises. I emailed the shop on Yelp and was quoted a price to replace the rotors and brake pads on my Lexus ES350. I was quoted what I feel were some high prices from other shops and yet Ashton Auto is honest and very competitively priced. Obviously, they won out over the other shops because of their quote. When I picked up my Lexus, the guy at the front office was professional and quoted other prices for items I felt needed attention. Great work, great customer service. Took my car in with a mystery diagnosis that the dealer was guestimating the issue on. (Dealer wanted 300 bucks to start taking the car apart after already spending 250 on the diagnostic fee) They quickly found the problem within a few hours of dropping off my car (completely clogged/melted catalytic converter and o2 sensors), they ended up having the car done by the end of the day! Due to circumstances out of my control, I wasn't able to pick up the car for nearly two weeks, which they had no problem with (no storage fee like some shops) All in all, I picked up my car and everything was fixed, for WAY cheaper and quicker than the dealer was quoting (saved me about a grand and a few weeks) Hopefully I don't need anything more than routine maintenance in the future, but if I do, I'm certainly getting my car worked on here read more

The dealership told me that I had an oil leak. I took my Rav4 to Ashton and they took a look at it while we went to lunch. Ashton let me know that the leak was a "touch of oil" - and I wouldn't need to have it fixed until the leak actually started showing on the garage floor. Anyhow, Ashton Auto Service stood out with their 5 star, well-written reviews, so I recommended my wife to take her Exploder there for an oil change (done with the Ford dealer and their all-day shenanigans for a 30 minute service.) My wife scheduled an appointment and was very pleasantly surprised when they were ready on time and handled their business in short order. Steve was very friendly and helpful AND his free WiFi waiting area was clean - unlike some other mechanics in the area who offer filthy waiting areas. I absolutely hate looking for and paying for auto repair service. But its a necessary evil and since my 06 Nissan has been good to me, i figure it should be time to love it back on this Valentines Day. I find Ashtons on yelp, naturally. But dont rely on their outsourced website to make an appointment. Its not reliable, so suggest you call to set something up. I bring my car in and they input some things in the computer. I havent done any major maintenance, so i ask them to inspect anything and everything. In addition to preventitive radiator replacement. And engine oil change. Estimate about $450. Sweet. Drop off my car. Get a call later saying its ready, and the estimate is pretty much right on point. Give or take taxes. Apparently everything looked good still, but they could easily have upsold me some unnecessary repairs. Like if they told me my ATF needed replacing, i would have said fine, since it was a 10 year old car it was reasonable. But they told me it was still good. All in all this place is a good, clean, and honest shop. read more
