Came here to make my own perfume and was unfortunately disappointed with the experience. I've done this twice before at other places, and compared to those experiences, this one felt disorganized and inefficient. There are only about 20 scents, which felt pretty limited. Since the scents were presented on small paper strips rather than in bottles, it also took a long time for our group to smell everything. Once we chose our scents, there was very little guidance on how to blend them. When I asked about ratios for base vs. top notes, I was told to "do whatever you want." We created our own fragrance sprays in a "love potion" lab during The Tech Interactive's 21-and-over Valentine's event this past Thursday. Various scents prepared to be mixed in a small vial, tables set up beautifully with love-themed decor, and simple instructions written out along with friendly staff ready to assist if needed. It was a fun little activity to do together while trying out a variety of scented liquids (i.e. citrus sands, jasmine, amber & plum) using tiny labeled bottles and pipettes. I loved having the freedom to be creative, though mine ended up being kinda simple and was definitely fruity, heavy on the smells of cranberry, apple, and orange. This was my first time in their new space and it was a great experience! It was just me and a friend and were able to come in to make a candle. We booked online but it seems like you can do a walk in. Overall the process was great! The person who helped us was super knowledgable and kind. They let us take our time in deciding which scents to picked. You can pick up your finished candle a couple hours later (or the next day). I would recommend if you're looking for a fun activity. My fiance booked us the Valentine's Day package, which included making a candle/wax melts, a small bottle of wine, and a charcuterie board. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and were greeted and seated. I was given a complimentary rose, which was a nice touch. The interior is modern and stylish We sat at the bar with 4 other couples, and others sat at small tables. The workers were all super friendly and patient. They thoroughly explained the process and gave us tips on how to make sure our candles burn nice and evenly. The process consisted of picking the vessel for our candle, picking scents, mixing them together, finalizing the smell, and finally pouring the candle. There was a charcuterie table for us to graze at and a small bottle of wine at our table. I can't emphasize enough that the workers truly make this a wonderful experience. Such a fun experience and the options are endless! I have been here twice now in groups. The Experience: The experience starts with picking a vessel for your candle and getting it set up with a wick. After setting it up, the staff guide you in smelling the scents off of their "menu" and you mark the scents you like. I had to do a little digging online to see the differences between each of the experiences, but once I found it it all made sense. We got the candle lovers experience and it came with wine, which upped the experience in my opinion. It was lots of fun bc you get to create your own curated scent for your candle. There are so many scents to choose from, what a fun challenge for your nose lol I'm not the most creative person.. I get stressed out when there's too much creative freedom (ie: pottery making, paint & sips, pottery painting) but I really enjoyed this bc there were steps that will make it "right" if that makes sense. Came here tonight with a friend and we really enjoyed the whole experience. The current location is tucked away inside San Pedro Market Square but they will be moving to a bigger space. Very cozy inside and well decorated. The hosts Ashton and Brian were both extremely kind, and you can tell they enjoy what they do. While the space is small, it's intimate and it totally works. There are 3 or 4 long tables that fit 4 comfortably, could make 6 work it seems. We were one of 3-4 other parties there that night. Our experience was a bit different. We had arrived too early to enter the California Theatre for an event; it was not even open yet. We walked down the street, hoping to find a cafe, or maybe a bar, where we could hang out for a short while. We entered this candle bar, not even quite knowing what a candle bar was! We asked if we could sit and wait for a few minutes; Ashy Aromas wasn't busy, and we were welcomed. While there, we found out that Ashy Aromas - which by the way smells wonderful - hosts candle making classes, and can accommodate individuals, small groups and larger groups who want to learn to make candles. Ashy aromas was such a cool experience! My company sponsored a team building activity here and we really enjoyed! The candle bar is located in the San Pedro Square (downtown area) of San Jose. There are plenty of parking garages nearby. The candle bar is a small cozy space that is very inviting. The owner Ashton and Brian were so friendly. The experience started with Ashton's story on why he started his candle making business. He is very charismatic and I love that he goes step by step so you know what to do and expect. In our package, there was wine and a charcuterie board of fruits! We started the experience with picking out the vessel for our candle. The next step is then figuring out which scent we individually like and from there Brian would help us with mixing various scents so it wouldn't be boring. This part can take awhile as you have more than 10 scents to smell. Once you pick out a scent, you mix the scent essence with the hot wax. Lastly, you will name your scent. Such a unique and fun experience! My friend booked us a candle making workshop here for Valentines day. We chose the (mid-tier) Candle Lover's Experience, which lasts about 50 - 60 minutes for $70/person. We arrived at our reservation time and the table was already set beautifully for us, with roses for decor, and all the supplies laid out. The space itself was small and intimate (located inside the San Pedro Square market) and thoughtfully decorated with neon signage, wooden furniture, and an exposed brick wall - super cozy. The owner Ashton walked us through the process and introduced us to the staff, and we got started right away picking out our candle vessels. Depending on your experience package, you get a smaller or larger candle. After this, we went around smelling all the aroma oils and writing down our favorites. The selection was awesome and impressively large. On the back of our fragrance cards, we also circled the fragrance profiles we typically enjoy, so that the staff would be able to advise us. I didn't know much about the different profiles so I wrote down that I wanted a candle that smelled like men's cologne - thankfully, the staff member knew exactly what I meant. With the aroma oils we enjoyed, we wrote down combinations that we wanted to try as blends. I ended up only trying out two (because the second one was perfect), but you can try as many blends as you want, with up to three scents in each. Our experience also came with a complimentary glass of wine, so I was sipping on a Cabernet Sauvignon during this part of the process, and it was fantastic. Next, they brought over our chosen scents and the wax, and we mixed the two together, stirring gently for 3 minutes, before pouring the mixture into our candle vessel. We also got wax melt trays for some extra refills. It takes about an hour after all this for the candles to be ready to bring home, so we got some food/drinks in the San Pedro Square market while we waited. Once we returned, the candles were packaged for us in little gift bags with our fragrance cards, wax melt trays, and name cards (forgot to mention that you name your custom candle!). Overall, I loved this whole experience even more than I thought I would. The vibes were immaculate, the staff was SO helpful, and my candle turned out amazing.
