Moreover, I was gifted two purse-size Doson perfume sprays which is awesome and I am humbly grateful! I've typically gotten my Diptyque products from department stores such as Nordstrom, so when I found out that there was a boutique in this shopping center, I just had to pay a visit! The size is perfect for the merchandise they had laid out on the floor. I liked how they had all of the different candles at the counter, their diffusers and newer line of candles on the shelves, and their fragrance wheel somewhat in the center of the floor. The staff here were very fun to talk to and personable. I had no idea they had a new matcha candle line out where it came in this beautiful on trend glass vase and once the wax ran out, we'd be able to order their refillable wax cups to replace the previous one. I was very pleased to know that Diptyque had moved onto some sustainable products in their product line. If you're curious about fragrances, it's helpful if you come with notes on what fragrance scents and notes you typically go for or not go for or what other perfumes you have at home that you love. Either way, the staff takes their time in trying to find you scents that might draw you in. After I checked in, I received two free samples of fragrances - he helped me discover smells I had no idea could ever exist! If you're open and curious, definitely check them out! I would love to be able to come back here to pick up some of my fave products along with something new. Great products, but people working at this store are amateurs. I say this based on multiple underwhelming visits. I think the most offensive interaction I've had was asking for a sample and being told they don't provide samples, only to see another person walk in and get a sample right in front me. On the other hand, the Fillmore the folks at the Fillmore location are awesome. I'll take my business there even though it's a longer drive. read more

I received a Diptyque candle for Christmas. I opened the box carefully and although I loved it, I sadly I had an allergic reaction to the scent. I brought it to the Palo Alto store in the pristine original box and bag, in hopes to exchange it for a different scent. The store manager and personnel would have no part of an exchange, and were rude and defiantly refused to exchange it. Her words " you can regift it". As I do not want to bother the person who gifted it to me , I am left with an upscale product I will be unable to use. The attitude and rigidity of the store policy is outrageous (apparently it was bought online from a Diptyque store.. normally all purchases can be returned to a brick and mortar store, and I was not looking for a return, just an exchange!)! It discourages my interest in ever purchasing a Diptyque product in the future. I will definitely never return to this local Diptyque store. read more

I never appreciated the world of candles and scents until I was introduced to Diptyque during the pandemic. Shopping at the Palo Alto location was such a seamless and friendly experience. I stopped by for the City Candles event and was pleasantly surprised that the store wasn't jam-packed. Big shout out to Mia who helped me out in person and via email! She was super professional and it was fun to talk to her about all the candles that she loved. While shopping at other high-end boutiques can feel intimidating, Mia was kind and casual which made the experience feel like shopping with a friend. The store is maintained really well and there are a mind-boggling number of scents in their assortment to look at and smell. The prices are naturally higher than your average candle store, but the experience and quality are worth it, (especially if you impose a budget on yourself...) I really recommend you stop by if you're looking to dip your toe into the World of Fancy Smells. If they could open up MY eyes (those of an average, uncultured Joe) they can absolutely open up your world as well. read more

I received a house gift of a high-end scented candle from Diptyque Town and Country. There was a return receipt in the attractive bag. I couldn't see the gift without taking off the plastic wrap around the box but was careful to keep the box in pristine condition. When I took it in to exchange, they refused to accept the exchange since the plastic was removed. However, without removing the plastic, you couldn't see the gift you had been given to determine exactly what it was. In my opinion, it was misleading to give the purchaser a carefully packaged return receipt. read more

My partner and I were window shopping for perfumes and decided to stop by this diptyque branch to smell some more of their scents. I must say: for all the perfumes we've smelled and samples, I'm quite impressed with how diverse and unique each of their scents are! You'll be surprised at how cute the bottles are too. The associate that helped us was very versed in knowing their products! I had no idea the images on the bottles were stories and was really amazed that the brand put so much thought in the design of their product! This is a small boutique that sells Diptyque candles. The salepeople were polite, attentive, seemed to know their products, and thus overall it was a pleasant experience, and all in the context of the busy holiday season. The products also of course are quality products. Having all these things is a home run in this day and age. Well done! THE LOVELY SMELLS Covid friendly candle smells! Came in on a random Sunday while we were waiting it out for our coffee and tea. Decided to say hi to the worker and he began offering us scents to try out. It was SO NICE to just relax and look around and smell good candles. The workers were exceptionally friendly and made our wait for boba very much worth it. We didn't end up buying a candle (I know, I know we were SO TEMPTED TO), but took some pictures of what we liked! Passed through the store after brunch and the people working are absolutely amazing and knowledgeable. They were very helpful and kind! If you aren't familiar with the brand, keep in mind this is a luxury brand so prices are above average. Well worth every penny! It's no secret how wonderful Diptyque's products are. The quaint setting within the Town & Country Village can't be beat, even though it feels increasingly isolated with the closure of stores around it. The Palo Alto Diptyque store is on the small side, so only one group at a time is being allowed in. No touching, and if you want to get a real good whiff of a scent you'll need to walk outside. That's no problem for me, of course. Diptyque's products are the epitome of "little luxury" and I certainly love indulging in them. The woman who helped us, whose name I unfortunately do not remember - my receipt says "SBLANCO" - was helpful and knowledgeable while providing me and my mother with an assortment of little goodies to try with my new candles. A $68 candle (and counting!) may seem a bit much for some people, but the unique and powerful scents coupled with lovely service proves their worth. If I may offer my recommendations: Opopanax, an effervescent resinous scent that is unbelievable, and Narguile, a honeyed tobacco scent, are great places to start. read more

Checked out the new Diptyque in the Town & Country Village in Palo Alto. It's to the Left of Peet's Coffee, next to the sign for the Public Restrooms. They have a store in SF on Maiden Lane. Lots of good smelling French candles, large ones are $60; think she said the small ones are $30. I liked Jasmin and Oydeo. I want to smell them all! They have fancy French soap for $15 - TreatYouSelf! Room diffusers, perfumes, not sure what else I'm missing. We stopped by a few weeks ago to pick up some wedding favors and were blown away by the customer service. The girls working on a Saturday morning patiently answered all our questions, gave us scent recommendations, and were so welcoming with our dog. I was shopping for a candle for someone who doesn't like really intense florals or fruity scents and I appreciated that the staff steered me in the right direction. I am so thankful for the way he treats me. I think as a customer I need to value his job. After going through so much and being depressed. He makes me feel very valuable customer. Thankfully there's a diptyque store in the Bay Area because I have been wanting to buy their candle. I didn't love Jo Malone's scents after trying them out a few years ago. I actually found a few scents I liked with the help of the sale associate. She threw in a few samples which is another plus. I can't wait to try them out and return in the future. read more

While I was at the counter being rung up she showed up and said we aren't accepting cash no I am sorry no manners no sensibilities nothing at all . I said ok I will come back when you go to the bank . I feel like this girl did not want me to buy anything . I said great I will come in and she cut me off and said the manager will be in tomorrow . Where do I begin.... I don't enjoy writing bad reviews because ideally we don't expect to be treated this way but unfortunately it happens. When I went into the Diptyque store at the Palo Alto location I was so excited that they had their own boutique. I've been purchasing their candles/fragrances from Nordstrom's therefore I was really happy to find their store front location. My bf and I weren't greeted when we entered the shop, but that didn't bother me. We just wanted to browse their selection of goods. Then an older Asian lady came out and gave us this rude look. She even walked to the candles area in which I was standing at to put away some stock and didn't acknowledge us. So then I walking to each wall to see if they had a product I was looking for and she asked us in a judgmental way "Do you know our brand?" as if we didn't realize how expensive it is. Well excuse you, yes we have. She was being rude as hell making us feel very uncomfortable so we left. I've purchase many items from Diptyque but wow I've never been profiled and judged by any sales associate. So as we were walking out an American women came in and she completely changed her attitude. She greeted her and asked if she needed anything. Let's be realistic here....yes Palo Alto is an affluent area but Was the racial profiling necessary?. What does race have to do with shopping? So yes you guys lost a customer and I hope those who experienced the same treatment as us refuse to shop here too. read more

So I walk by and there is a loud woman on the phone outside. I walk in and the employee starts saying that it's actually her (loud woman) appointment and that THIS time I can just walk like that in a pretty annoyed condescending tone. Then she proceeds to let me know that 'masks must be on at all times, this is a no touch environment and yada yada, yada'. I'm not so familiar with brand but how the hell am I suppose to smell the fragrances through the mask. And before y'all are like "this and that' y'aint kid yourself that the darn point of candle and that's at least 50% of the experience. SMELLING. Shocking...After an awkward moment she asks if I was looking for anything in particular. At this point her tone was pretty pointed and cold. I said 'no I'm just looking'. I'll also add that her body language was pretty uninterested and defensive like ready to snatch my weave if I touch one of her precious candles. She was at the side of the counter NOT maintaining 'social distancing' at this point. As I walk out I say Thank You and she lets out a soft fart-like uninterested 'ok'. I felt much most welcomed at Valley Fair and the associate engaged with me much more and let me know more about the brand and its wonderful items. I don't recommended this place at all. I'll also add that lady, if you're so paranoid about catching the virus may I suggest working someplace where the olfactory sense is what makes or breaks a sale. Or just stay home, Jesus. Due to covid I was only allowed to smell the sprayed samples but I was given great details about each fragrance for the candles I picked out. I love Diptyque's products. Everything is so well packaged, perfumes are so rich and incredible. Love the history behind the brand. But guys, you have to train your staff. I rarely meet so uninterested, uninvolved and uninspired team. I saw this flower bar event on FB and was excited to see it. Besides standard "hi, welcome" no one was bothered to tell about the occasion or promo or even about the products. I went ahead and picked mu perfume and qualified for a free 3 stems of flowers. Well, the bouquet I was given was laying on a table for while and look so sad that when I got back home it nearly died. The worse customer service is when team so not into what they doing. I've been using them since I lived in Paris-- and I won't age myself by saying when that was. Service is amazing. Noel helped me pick out some great Holiday gifts for some corporate clients. I got a few extras for myself which is always appreciated. They helped me to the car and couldn't have been more helpful! Everyone loved their gifts. My best friend has an event space (an amazing farm) back east that she furnishes exclusively with these products. It is part of her signature. Checked out the Palo Alto store after failing to visit their San Francisco store after 5PM on a Sunday (they were closed and we forgot to check the hour:(). Sophia was very helpful and knowledgeable. She walked us through various smells that we might have liked and even told us the story behind each! We ended up getting a few free samples to try before committing to a smell. Two stars instead one because the smells of the candles are incredible. I have purchased these candles for friends as gifts for years. That just ended because of poor customer service. I rarely give a low rating unless it really warrants it. First of all, the candles are extremely expensive so I assumed that the customer service would match the price point. My husband knows I always come in to buy these for friends but almost never buy them for myself (the best gift are ones you want but can never really buy for yourself). He bought me one as part of a birthday gift. I have been lighting this candle about once a week or so since and it sat up on our mantle. Out of nowhere one evening while lit, the glass breaks from the heat into sharp pieces all over my living room. I couldn't believe it. I figured there had to be something wrong with the glass because I couldn't imagine mass producing candles that explode when lit isn't a sustainable business model. I asked my husband to return it, let them know that the red glass candles might have something wrong, and see if they wouldn't mind replacing it with a small candle, we had already used about half of the wax. The women both expressed doubt that my husband was telling the truth and then insulted his parenting because we "shouldn't have candles with a baby in the house." Well, goodbye dyptique. Implying that my husband is a liar and a bad parent rather than expressing any kind of sympathy or kindness was a bad customer service move. Our candle was replaced after my husband explained a bit further but the crass attitude that is out of line and warrants us to discontinue our time as loyal customers. The employees here are so kind, helpful, and friendly! I went in here today and the two people there were so welcoming. They were funny and personable, which is honestly a first in all the diptyque experiences I've had (I'm calling you out, Larchmont lol). I've been purchasing candles and perfume from Diptyque for 5 years and I've never had an experience anywhere close to what I had today. I just received a lovely haul of diptyque candles for my birthday, but I will DEFINITELY restock at the Palo Alto location because of the excellent customer service. Love the friendly atmosphere. You can't beat the service at this place. Noelle is awesome and eager to make sure that you leave happy and satisfied with your purchase. These candles aren't cheap but if you spend some time researching the brand, you'll realize that you get what you pay for. Deven, at the Palo Alto Diptyque store, spent nearly a half hour patiently explaining the notes in every one of their fragrance sprays. He is knowledgeable, and tireless in making the customer experience a unique and special one. A consummate professional.
