I had to travel for work on a Sunday, which I typically try to avoid. I searched local restaurants and saw this one, and decided to give it a try. Small town asian restaurants tend to be either really good or really bad, with very little in between. When I go to an Asian buffet type restaurant, I am not expecting the greatest quality, just comfort foods like general Tso's chicken, crab Rangoons, and some white rice at a reasonable price. This place exceeded my expectations. Each of the items in the buffet that I tried tasted fresh, not like it had been sitting under a warming lamp for two hours. The chicken meat (both white and dark) was high quality, no bits of gristle or other unchewable stuff that I often find at lower quality restaurants. The crab Rangoons were really good. Even the rice was very good, not having that dried out texture that it can sometimes get when it sits in a steamer pot for too long. The sushi was also surprisingly good. I never set my expectations high for buffet sushi, but I keep the bar even lower at small town restaurants that serve sushi. I mean, who expects decent sushi at a small town Iowa buffet? It was surprisingly tasty, even if the selection was limited to only one roll type item. My only gripe is that it was kind of dark inside, in spite of the windows being unobstructed and the sun being out. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine, but buffets really should portray a clean and bright environment to emphasize that they are high caliber restaurants. Buffets tend to be viewed as dark, dirty places, and I always encourage proprietors to upgrade their lighting to make their restaurants appear cleaner and more inviting. I placed a to-go order and arrived to find the parking lot about half full, which gave me hope that the food would be good. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Upon entering, I approached the cashier, who neither greeted me nor offered a closing statement such as "Thank you" or "Have a good day." I ordered the General Tso's combination plate and a side of beef lo mein. The General Tso's chicken lacked any spiciness, and the yellow fried rice was disappointing--almost inedible, despite my usual love for rice. Ahhhh sushi! Well maki at least! Cooked fish. Evening Buffett is more money but they do add a few things to the food bar! Come early, 5 pm is the best. And yes it fills up fast! Stopped in for lunch as I had a Drs Appointment in Pella. Food is your average Americanized Chinese. They did have a Baked Crab dish which got them the extra star. Some entree's were Dried out and fresh was brought out around dinner time. So go early for lunch and hit dinner around five. The Cucumber Kimchi was also good. read more

Do not go here, unless you love food that has been under a heat lamp for hours, avoid this place. I should clarify that I am not a fan of buffets, but this one is really bad. All of the food tastes the same and does not have any resemblence of freshness. My partner have tried to ask to order off the menu and it just throws them for a loop because they expect every one to go feed at the trough. This place is what I would call a standard Chinese buffet place. They have a decent selection and the food is good. There isn't anything though that screams out 4 stars or above. A huge positive though is the price. The Buffet with just a water to drink is only $6.90. I don't think you can find that price anywhere else. I come here quite often they always take good care of me and ask me if I would like anything fresh because I usually go between lunch and dinner hours meaning the food sits a little bit longer then usual understandable though they make it fresh for me and put it on the buffet and even come up to tell me it's done! read more

I saw this place and thought "What the heck?"... The name was not too exotic and made me curious. I was pleasantly surprised - it was pretty good. Supper was a little late that evening - about 7:15 or so. Some of the dishes were getting a little past their prime but I don't really consider that a factor. The Mongolian Beef and Coconut Shrimp were wonderful. I liked the hot and sour soup. The frog legs were pretty tasty too. Sorry Kermit. I would be happy to eat here again though perhaps just a bit earlier when things are at their freshest. Nonetheless, the price was right and the food was just fine. It was a late 1:30 lunch and the food was kind of dried out and needed changed. The taste though of the food was good. It had a nice selection and plenty of shrimp options. I love the ice cream selection. It was not a machine. You had to scoop it like they do at Baskinrobbins. The people were very nice and asked if there was anything they could bring out fresh. The food was good and plentiful. My husband had sushi and said it was good. I liked the egg rolls and cheese wanton and the chicken teriyaki. They had 4 flavors of ice cream and cream puffs. They did not have as many dessert choices as many buffets. read more

If I could give this company a negative 10 that would be to high! Called to place my order because website would NOT load. Had issues even ordering over the phone. Told the gal on the phone to be sure to have the delivery driver go to the side door NOT THE FRONT DOOR, she replied "ya ya I tell." The driver called me after he went to the FRONT door asking why I would not answer the door? I asked if he was at the side door? He said no he was at the front door. That all said...Opened the bag to dish up our dinner, it was all ICE COLD!!! I called the business and got told to put it in the microwave. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They only had to drive 3 BLOCKS to deliver this food...HOW LONG DID IT SIT before they delivered it? Or how many stops did he make before he came here??? This restaurant from the outside looks a little rough and some might not go in because of how rough it looks but GO IN AND TRY IT!!! I loved the food!! My favorite dish was the green beans, so simple but they use FRESH green beans that are to die for! There other meals are also delicious because they have smaller dishes that run out more frequently so they refill their trays more often, no more dried out buffet food! This is new and juicy chinese food! I go back every time I am in town! read more

Went for lunch again and was not acceptable again. Last time had to have them turn up the burners because food was cold at beginning of lunch which is a food hazard. This time at 1 pm most food was gone and rest was dried out. read more

I love this place and these individuals. Their rangoons are just excellent. I get delivery several times a month. When I call, they even remind me to get my Diet Pepsi. Food is always ccoked in fresh oil. and never smells of the former items, as those from another local Chinese restaurant do. Good place, good people. read more
