My wife and I have both gone to this restaurant and carried-out in several occasions. We've ordered various dishes to include sushi, chicken, beef and seafood entrees. The food tastes wonderfully especially when you dine-in. The portions are generous: you can see that they don't cheap you out on the chicken, beef, or seafood. The service is quick and the people they hire are very courteous. The only reason why I don't rate them as 5 stars is the fact that they don't carry fresh tea (which you normally expect in an Asian Cafe). However, the restaurant does offer a tremendous variety of sushi... along with a variety of Asian (not limited to Chinese) dishes- try them out (you won't regret it). read more

We have been regulars since it opened - started because it's nearby and quick, but continues because it's very good. The food is consistently delicious, we love the BYOB and the service is great. I have been ordering from this restaurant for several years, faithful customer, and quite frankly, it was the only Chinese restaurant I'd go to- they have some of the best sushi and Chinese food in the area! However, I was extremely disappointed when I placed an order this evening to be delivered to my new apt in Frederick, and got a call several minutes later saying they don't deliver to my area. I was shocked because their website clearly says they deliver within a 10 mile radius (my old apt was 6 miles away) and my new apt is within 7.5 miles. I asked the girl when she called if they would reconsider and honor what their website says, and she said she asked the owner and he said "no". Food is definitely not consistent in preparation. Sometimes it is good, sometimes just passable. I have never had anything I would consider fantastic. For take-out ordering over the phone I have always been greeted with efficiency and professionalism. Orders have always been correct. Some unprofessional things that I have noticed while picking up my orders is the way some of the hired staff conducts themselves. This includes helping themselves to drinks from the fountain and consuming them at the counter. Socializing way too much in front of customers including this evening when one girl was engaged in some PDA with a friend. After that was done she seemed to play around with one of the owner's child messing with their hair near where food was placed. Most of these workers seem of high school age and I get the impression that not much is expected of them then to just take orders and move the food. I will say that the young ladies of Asian descent who maybe related to the owners always to a good job and I never see the indiscretions in them that I see in some of the others. read more

We usually order take out, and some of our favorites are: chicken chow mein (fresh ingredients, white-meat chicken), shrimp fried rice, steamed shrimp with vegetables, egg rolls. I ordered the Seafood Combination and it was beautiful (see photo). The dish wasn't originally a spicy dish however I asked for a little spice and it was perfect. It had shrimp, scallops and a full lobster tail along with a variety of vegetables. It came with a light white sauce. It was good, the spice added to the flavor. Most of the time I've found that white sauces are bland & what gives the dishes flavor are the vegetables. The price of the meal was $14.95, not bad for what I received. The service was very good and the food came out quickly. You can tell all ingredients were fresh. My friend had the General Tso chicken and enjoyed it. She said it was sweeter than what she expected, she thought there'd been a bit of spice to the dish but there wasn't. Overall we enjoyed our meal & the service. I would recommend this as a great alternative to the "fast food" Chinese restaurants in our area. read more

Food is 3.5-4 stars. Service and communication is negative 10. We made it VERY clear that our son was allergic to cashews - told the waiter 3 times. Unfortunately, we then spent the night in the ER with an allergic reaction. When brought to the attention of the restaurant, we were told there was really no one in charge with whom we could talk - "we just do our thing." Hiding behind a language barrier and not taking responsibility for the actions of your business does not set well with this consumer. We love local businesses and want them to succeed. However, I feel like I am more focused on this not happening again at their business than they are and that's not right. read more

Nice drive to Middletown if you live in Frederick. Nice place easy on the eyes well decorated with modern accents. Food was good I got the General Tao's chicken it could of been better with a little more spice. My boyfriend got the teriayki chicken it was one chicken breast sliced in half It was not cooked well enough at all. I thought that maybe they would offer a dinner menu like they do with lunch but they do not you have to order everything separate which is very expensive. Went for lunch late today. I had Chinese while my friend had Japanese. My General tsao's chicken was very good....crispy, tender inside with just enough heat in the sauce. Excellent sushi and rolls as compared to San Francisco's asian restaurant that I used to live nearby. The layout and artistic design of putting the sushi and rolls on a plate. For an example: I ordered the Avocado roll and the Philadelphia roll and guess what the chef drew a beautiful flower on the plate with my order of sushi/roll around the flower. Beautiful!! Excellent Thai Mango Chicken with rice! A pure Asian environment that involves their families to help out and the decorations are tops and beautiful. Our food came out incorrect and was cold when I asked for the manager a woman came out that barely spoke English During our conversation she walked away to answer the phone. When she came back she informed me that the carry out was more important then the dine in . She also said she was not the manager and there was none there. Never again! Slow service, food tasted OK but boring! Ordered Sweet & Sour Pork and got white rice, fried pork and sauce, nothing else. There were no vegetables or pineapple with it much less the usual soup and salad. Pricey for what I received and definitely not all that good. Food tepid, not hot. Friend had the sushi and sashimi and it was also tepid when it should have been cold and it took almost a half hour before she got her order and her soup and salad came 15 minutes later. I ordered dinner for my family from Asian Cafe in Middletown MD. I orderedmy dinner from what I thought was there web site, but it was a third party site. According to the site that delivery was 15 mins. There was no place for me to put my credit card info. on the site. I placed my order thinking my food would be 15 mins out. NOT... I get a phone call from the cafe wanting my credit card after I been waiting for 30 mins. I was told that when a order is placed on the web site that the people who runs it calls the cafe to place my order. Does not make sense, when I could have called myself. Then I have to wait another 30 mins. for my meal. Not happy. I will think twice before I order from them again. read more

I agree with Jordan N about the food being mediocre. So why do we bother eating at a mediocre restaurant? The sole reason is because it's the only one that will deliver to our house. That being said, after our experience this evening, I'm not so sure even that will suffice as a reason for our patronage. Earlier tonight, I called in a delivery order. The employee on the phone repeated back to me my address as they usually do. I ordered and paid with a credit card. Then, 20 minutes later, she calls back to say she doesn't have my address and that there is a $1.50 "gas charge" and do I want to pay for it over the phone or pay the driver. I asked her when they started charging a 1.50 "gas charge". She told me to hold on, and when she returned she said it was actually a 3.00 charge because I live farther away. I asked her why that isn't printed on the take-out menu or told to customers when they order. No answer to that question either, just an apology. I sent my son to pick up our food instead of paying the 3.00 and honestly, the food was hotter than any other time we had it delivered. Lesson learned. From now on, if I want to eat Chinese food at home, I will get off my lazy butt and pick up take-out from Great Wall on Yellow Springs Road. It's only a couple miles further, and the food is worth the extra effort. read more

I've been here once before and it was alright, nothing to write home about. We tried the takeout tonight: egg rolls, General Tso's chicken, and Kung Pao chicken. Complete disappointment. We called to ascertain the difference between the two entrees and were told that General Tso's had broccoli and Kung Pao had a bunch of vegetables. The Kung Pao came with everything correct, but was bordering on inedibly salty. I think they used salted peanuts AND salted the dish liberally? Regardless, it toed the line--and we're salt-lovers! The General Tso's chicken came with chicken. No seriously, that's it. Literally a container of chicken with a little bit of sauce. I'm not sure who would look at this clear-topped container of ENTIRELY CHICKEN and not remember that there should be something, anything else in it, but I guess they don't look at their food? The egg rolls were dry, tasteless, and came with no sauce to spice them up. Sad, because I figured they were pretty hard to screw up and we could at least get them on occasion. We called to complain about the lack of broccoli, and after trying to get the guy to understand what was going on for ten minutes he offered to send someone out with a side of broccoli. Five minutes later he called back, apparently needing more clarification. We told him to forget the whole thing and just ate our stuff. I guess this shouldn't come as a surprise, as we've heard patchy stories from our neighbor. They said the same thing--that service was sketchy, they often missed entire parts of their dish (sauce, vegetables, or rice), and that overall there were far more misses than hits. Too bad, I was really hoping for a less creepy alternative to Hot Wok, but it looks like there's a solid reason there is literally no one in the restaurant at dinner or lunch time. read more
