I got sesame chicken and muscles in black bean sauce. Both were really good, and they have good white rice too ( not dry) The sauce for the sesame chicken was good but the chicken they use are the pieces like what people use in sweet and sour chicken. The hot and sour soup is good. and the muscles in black bean sauce was really good, I thought it was a little salty but not bad, nothing that a little more white rice wouldn't balance out. I love the food here. No joke, I eat here at least once weekly. I'm vegetarian, so the general tso's tofu is my go-to, but everyone i've brought there has loved their food as well. And that's not to mention the service. Everytime I eat in or even just pick up food, the people always bring a smile to my face. At this point I eat there so often, they know my order, but they've always been super kind and helpful. Also, the food always comes out very quickly and my drink is always refilled when it gets low. I've stopped in several times since I live pretty close. Overall, it is decent. But honestly, I can't say I've had anything to rave about. I would love this place to do well but I can't give them a truthful rating of more than 3.5 stars. The food is decent. I've had their General Tso's Chicken, Hawaiian Chicken, Mushroom Chicken, Cashew Chicken, and Crab Rangoon. Obviously I've had each one of those on separate visits. I'm not that hungry (*cough* or fat) to eat that much food in one setting. So far, I'd have to say I enjoy their General Tso's Chicken the most. It had nice chunks of juicy chicken with decent sauce. The Hawaiian Chicken was just WAY TOO sweet for my taste. The sweetness, the sweetness, the sweetness...I couldn't get passed the sweetness! The other dishes were decent, just didn't click "amazing". I might have a new favorite place for Chinese food! I am not a huge fan of Chinese food, but was really wanting some steamed buns tonight. I was debating heading out to 888 International Market when I remembered a friend telling me that Asian Pearl has steamed buns. I checked online, they had steamed buns and they delivered, lazy movie day would not be interrupted! Dumplings are one of my favorite menu items and Asian Pearl does not disappoint in this area. The filling is fresh and really good. It is moist. They have great flavor and the fried ones have just a touch of crisp. The sauce is a little more tangy than the typical you get from most places, but really good. The mussels in black bean sauce are excellent. The mussels are perfectly cooked, not overdone and chewy. Very pleasant surprise as I was hesitant to try them. The black bean sauce was delicious and flavorful. The princess chicken was really good. Again great taste, not really that hot although marked hot on the menu. I think I just like really spicy stuff and others might find it hot. The white rice was good, moist. What can you say about rice, as long as it isn't dry or gooey, it is good. Now, for the reason I decided to try Asian Pearl, the steamed buns. When I ordered I wasn't sure exactly how they would come being they are just listed as steamed buns on the menu and I didn't ask. The buns were really good. They had a nice mild sweet taste and I think I liked the actual bun more than the 888 International Market Steamed buns. I just wish they had filling, or more options that include filling. Like I said, I didn't know how they would come and I didn't ask, so not complaining at all, but would love to see them expand their menu. If I can be really choosy, a pork filling would be awesome! ;) Price is typical Chinese restaurant pricing. Portions were pretty typical. Monday-Thursdays they have dinner specials and Monday-Saturday lunch specials. Overall, the food is great, you won't be disappointed. So I have been looking for Cantonese style noodles for a while at Chinese places around JoCo. Despite having driven past this place for several years now, I had never stopped. I decided it was time, and learned that they did, in fact, have them! So I got an order of the Cantonese style chow mein with beef, and it was quite tasty. My wife had never had this type of noodle, and really did enjoy them as well. The beef was plentiful, and good (not great). It wasn't bombarded with mediocre filler veggies like most places, but instead had a decent amount of green and white onions that added just the right touch of flavor. The restaurant is clean, the staff seems friendly, and the menu is large. The restaurant itself has plenty of space, but is not huge by any means. Is it the best? No. Is it authentic? No. But it's pretty good, and I will return to explore the menu more! read more

I've eaten at the Asian Pearl about once a month since they opened (I used to work in the nearby Sunset Office Building and would go there for lunch). Now retired, my husband and I enjoy going there because the food is always excellent as is the service. The prices are reasonable and the selection is extensive. It's always very quiet. We were there last night about 7:30 and we were the only people in the restaurant. I just don't know how they manage to stay in business, but I certainly hope they do as we enjoy going there. read more

This is the worst restaurant we've ever experienced. Suffice to say we will not be back and expect they will be closing soon. Our experience: My boyfriend myself and his son arrived at the Asian Pearl about a quarter til 9. We were not sure what time it was so we assumed we'd sit in and have our meal and enjoy the evening. We got in we ordered food and right after we ordered the server came back to us and told us they closed at 9. And ask "you want to eat here or you want to take the food with you?" We were surprised that he asked us if we wanted to leave. With that being said and feeling like we're being tossed out we decided to leave after we got home with our food we realize that it was nothing that we ordered we were charged for dishes that we did not get. My boyfriend ordered a 12 dollar shrimp dish and got a 6 dollar box of tofu...a dish he dispisees. The food is horrible. And the service was even worse. My sesame chicken was the cheap frozen kind that was deep fried earlier in the day and just reheated, it was not tasty at all. The shrimp in the Chow Mein was small and just average tasting. I found better Chow Mein at Golden Palace in Olathe. I will compliment the spring rolls though. They were much bigger compared to other restaurants, heavil filled and deep fried to the perfect crispiness. My husband and I came across a coupon in our Valpak mail for 20% off at Asian Pearl. Since it was right next to the place where we get our wine we thought, why not eat and then buy our wine on the way home? We're very glad we drove in the pouring rain to Asian Pearl that night... it was so worth it. It's a brand new restaurant so everything is very new and clean. The decor is charming with a gorgeous bamboo-wall as the room's centerpiece. The Asian inspired lighting was a classy touch, as well. There's also a medium-sized bar with what appeared to be a full selection. The service was great (our server, Nick, was a high school student, I'm sure, but he was super friendly and attentive). We started with hot tea and that was a treat. My husband and I are self-proclaimed-tea-connoisseurs so I have to comment on the tea - it was quite flavorful, not bitter, and it's served in a beautiful ceramic cup where the tea leaves were suspended in the top compartment, that acted as a strainer, that you take off when you're ready to drink. Loved it. Next we had our main entrees: Happy Family and Sweet and Sour Chicken. The Happy Family was the best I've had in a very long time. The chicken, pork, beef, shrimp and scallops were excellent. The scallops in particular were huge and cooked to perfection. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was equally amazing - the sauce had just the right amount of pungent kick to compliment the chicken. The dishes were freshly prepared and the presentation of both were almost too pretty to eat. I couldn't believe I was in a strip-mall restaurant because the food was way better than what you might find at P.F. Changs. My daughter had the Lo Mein kids meal (plain - just how she likes it) which came with a skewer of chicken and a crab rangoon. She ate until she couldn't anymore and she's a picky eater even for a 3 year old! The restaurant was empty except for my family, which I think is a shame because the food, service, and prices (~ $8 to $12 per dish)are excellent. Maybe it's because it's a brand new restaurant in a part of Olathe that most people don't think of when they choose of an area to go eat out. Hopefully, with more positive reviews, word of mouth, and a 20% coupon (hey, it worked on me!) people will give Asian Pearl a chance. We will definitely return again soon. read more

We recently moved to this area, and I had been unable to find any Asian food I liked around here, so I was glad when they moved in. I've never eaten in the restaurant, but it is very clean and the decor is very classy. It's located in a strip mall, so you don't really think of it being as nice inside as it is.
