They had a large tent in the back, which provided ideal shade. There is a bike rack by the tables in the courtyard area, which is great for those who roll in off the W&OD. One of the coolest breweries in Nova! I've been a fan of Aslin since I first moved to the area. The Herndon location is my personal favorite. One of the best New England "Juicy" beer companies on the planet, and the decor is unique and colorful. They always play good music and the staff are always super attentive. Went on a Tuesday night for an event. My friend warned me of the limited parking since it is located downtown, but the street parking nearby wasn't hard to find. My only complaint was the brussel sprouts, which was definitely burnt. The sprouts were way more grey than green. It was hard to taste any flavors besides the burnt taste. We placed an order for the pizza in the last hour and it was great! It had a nice crisp and not a floppy pizza! The tomato sauce was seasoned really well. My group of friends enjoyed the fried cauliflower as well. Ordering food off the QR code was super easy. You can pay for the tab through your phone as well. A great place to meet with friends and family. For us, this visit was with our little league baseball team after a hard fought day of games. The space is very open with lots of seating for small groups and large groups. You will just have to move some tables around. There is an area of arcade games that kept the kiddos occupied. The order process is very easy with scanning QR codes on the table, place your order, and a short wait later, your food comes out freshly prepared! There are TVs all around the restaurant so you won't miss any action of your sports team! Parking could be a little busy as the lot was limited for our group. I've been coming to Aslin for years, since they were in an office park only serving cannned beer in cardboard boxes. The beer, sadly, just isn't as good as in those days, but now you can at least drink it on site. Their combination, taproom, and pizza restaurant in Herndon is well-located, nicely appointed and has good food. But, the business seems to struggle from a fundamental tension at the core of its identity. Namely, whether or not it wants to be an adults only trendy brewpub or a family-friendly pizza and burger joint. Given 90% of the clientele on a given day is millennials with young kids eagerly shelling out for $8 beers and $15 wings and $17 burgers, you can understand my confusion in their steadfast refusal to provide high chairs, but alas... here we are. read more

I love me some Aslin but this was my first time visiting this location. As noted, it's hard to find parking here on the weekend but they do have a lot. There are two buildings, the one closer to the parking lot being packed of kids and birthday parties for kids. They have a small outdoor area too which on a cold day had some people still enjoying. The building further from the lot was more quiet and less children, which we appreciated. You can order food from QR code and beer from the bar- their volcano sauce sour was always hopping. Been coming to Aslin since they were a tiny place next to Target... seems like their service has taken a turn for the worse. Went today and felt I was bothering the bartender when asking for something as simple as putting the commanders game on the TV. It seems they don't want to interact with customers (not a QR code for everything). The bartender had been conversing with friends/regulars for 20+ minutes when I asked to get the game on. She was visibly annoyed and ignored me when I said thank you, twice. Beers took ~20 minutes to get, which I mentioned to the server and got less than a great response. DO NOT GO TO ASLIN IN HERNDON. you park in their lot and then get towed because the dont say when the parking lot closes. The lot is not blocked off and only has a sign that says no overnight parking. It is next to at least two bars that dont close until legal last call of 130. We are from San Diego and have had Aslin in cans but never visited the source. Had the orange starfish which is an excellent New England. Smooth and juicy. I had a west coast ipa and it was average. Then hade the gose! Wow what a great beer. Don't find them many places, and even fewer places done well. This was excellent. The people that served were fantastic and friendly. Haven't been to Aslin in 7-8 years and they've come crazy far since they were running out of a garage door in a business park! Didn't get to try their coffee or food this time but it looked awesome. The staff was fantastic and helpful; answering all the questions we had and giving recommendations. I really want to try their pizza next month eventually. It's expensive, but pretty huge. The taproom is huge and operates as a coffee shop the whole day. Really relaxed diner vibe like a neighborhood pizza joint in a shopping center. Just a bougie version? Had their pumpkin milk stout and it's one of the better pumpkin beers I've ever had. Not chemical at all. Took their solid flagship milk stout and gave it a nice backend of pumpkin. The squash gave it even more of a silky mouthfeel. 9/10 I'm a sucker for barleywine and theirs is amazing. My only regret is that I don't live around here so can't get their bottles more regularly. Not too sweet, not astringent, perfectly balanced with vanilla and nutmeg. 11/10 Hopefully I'll visit NoVa again here soon and get to grab a bottle. read more

We've actually been to two Aslin Beer locations. The one in Old Town Herndon was quite charming and had outdoor seating. The one in Alexandria is quite large with a lot of TVs but no outdoor seating - yet. The beer is good. Don't normally write reviews... flew into Virginia to visit my sister. She had came here once before and mentioned it was bad service but we went anyway since we were craving pizza... I should've listened. Service was trash, our pizza was staring at us up in the window for 5-10 min (place was dead). Bartender walked by our food 10 times, even eating her food in front of customers (health code violation), handling clean cups and plates with out washing hands after stuffing face, and she even burped in our ears and other paying customers like a foot behind us when she walked by lol. Great beer and very friendly service! The space itself is quite large and can accommodate large groups both inside and out. I wish they served flights, because I wanted to try a wide variety of their brews, but they did let me taste some before picking out my half pours. Honestly, this place is solid for beer. I first heard about this place from my older coworkers who rave about their beer and expansive and changing drink menu. The pizza also always goes great with any of their beverages (although the food themselves is pretty standard). The outdoor section is lively and spacious and is shaded. Great beer. Would have gladly written a five-star review. Food: The smash burgers are worth ordering. But the rest? Completely thumbs down. Service: So bad it deserves its own warning label. My daughter ordered just the burger: plain and simple. What showed up? A patty with no bun. No problem, mistakes happen. I politely asked if we could get a bun. The server's response: "She didn't ask for a bun." Really...? Since when is a bun considered an optional accessory to a burger? A simple "Oops, let me grab one" would have fixed everything. Instead, I got attitude, then silence. Ten minutes go by... no bun. Twelve minutes.. still nothing. I finally had to march to the back entrance to the kitchen, and try to get someone's attention. Staff walked by like I was invisible. After five minutes of being ignored, I literally had to yell "Hey, you!" before a kitchen guy finally handed me a bun. The server? Vanished. Never came back, never apologized. Worse, because I trusted Aslin and ordered online, I left a generous tip before we even got the food. The meal went cold while we sat waiting for a bun. So yes, Aslin makes great beer. But if you're hoping for service better than disputing a denial with the overseas call center of your health insurance company, brace yourself. We came in for a lunch after riding on the WO&D trail. They were easily accessible from the trail/parking. There are a ton of spots to put your bike inbetween the two buildings (Aslin & their food side). Mid-day there were plenty of open tables both inside and outside. There were 4 dogs visiting, so they are definitely dog friendly. The beer was great (we ordered the IPAs) and food was also good. We had the pizza and fry-chos. They do offer high chairs if you are dining with younger children. They also had an arcade area that some older children were enjoying while waiting for their food. read more

A word of caution to everyone think of patronizing this place --check your bill CAREFULLY and demand an itemized receipt. Charges were added to my bill for drinks I never ordered. For example, I was billed $15 for a cocktail that I never ordered. Was in town on business and was told this was a place worth checking out. Arrived on 5/5 and their parking lot (at least I assumed it was because it was behind their building) was packed. After waiting about five minutes I get a spot but I'm nervous about the proximity to other cars and the ability of other cars to navigate near me. I walk in and go up to rhe counter I order a DIPA (I don't remember the name) their chicken sandwich and the brussel sprouts (need a veggie right). I sit down awaiting my food order when I realize they have a second building?!?!? Did I go to the right one? Did I happen into the good one? Was my car hit in the lot? I don't know nor should I dwell on it. Decor is kinda plain looks and feels like a big fast food restaurant...is this by design? Food came out in under 10 mins. The sprouts are deep fried and maybe a little too long as there were times I thought I was just chewing on ash. I get why it's a thing but I wish there was less of a char. The sandwich was cooked well but bitingly salty (for me). With each bite I was wondering if my blood pressure was going up and if my car was safe. I did finish my sandwich, and beer but some of the sprouts were left. Paid and left ( without takeout beer; which is surprising for me cause I typically like to experience a place). Get back to my car which was fortunately fine... Fin Perhaps my concerns of their lot impacted my review (it did factor into how long I lingered there)? Ultimately, I feel the food was overrated (chicken being salty and sprouts being too charred) and the beer was nothing to write home about. Was in the area all week for a conference, and we all made ample use of Aslin for some much-needed refreshments and good times. We were grateful to find a place to host such large groups. The building itself is pretty cool, with two buildings, a large beer garden area outside, and even a really amazing rooftop deck! Parking was fairly easy, with one big lot in the back, though it fills up quickly, and we found it a bit tricky to find parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. The beer selection here is excellent, and all of them really hit the spot. Clear Nights is a very good WCIPA. How Now Brown Cow is an absolutely delicious Pumpkin Spice Stout. Full Basic is a dark lager that might have been my favorite of the evening. The Bird Leaf is a very refreshing Pilsner. And whatever watermelon sour they had on tap (I forget the name) was mind blowing! There is also some very good food selection here. The pizza looked excellent, but I stuck with apps and sandwiches. The cheese curds were ok, though a bit overcooked. The pretzel is always a good choice. And the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was quite good, though a bit bland in the spice department. But no matter what, this is quite nice pub fare, and nobody left hungry, I can tell you that. Prices for everything, food AND beer, were quite reasonable, too. The service here was very good. The bartenders were friendly, prompt, and did a great job managing what was a very packed house. Most of the ordering is done via QR codes on the tables, where you scan it, place orders, and it is brought to your table when it's done. Whatever software they use for opening and adding things to your tab works quite well, though it has a hiccup where if you go to the bar to order, it will open a second tab, and you need to make sure to have the staff close out both for you. All in all, I was quite happy to have made Aslin my sort of hang-out while on this trip. I think beer hunters in DC should scope them out. Absolutely ridiculous prices for a salad. I don't mind paying for a substantial, interesting and flavorful salad , but the arugula salad definitely missed the mark. I added a burger for an extra $6 which was the equivalent of a Mc Donald's hamburger. The salad was fine if you're a goat as it consisted of arugula, four tiny pieces of beets and maybe three green cauliflower pieces. The feta aioli served with it was maybe a tablespoon.
