I really liked the vibes here! We went on a Sunday evening though so it was a lot less busy and more chill. We got some burgers with tots and fries which tasted great! Along with some jell-o shots, beers and cream sodas. Service was fast after placing our order. After food and drinks, we played in the arcade which was on one side of the room. There are a few games like basketball, mini claw machine, pac man, racing, pinball etc to keep everyone entertained and you add credits to a reusable game card to play. Never got the guy's name at the front but he really sold us on this spot being so friendly and telling us about this LoCo bar crawl map! Please Solace, give this man a raise! Haha Food was amazing, it really hit the spot! And again, he really sold us on the menu and we're glad to get his recommendations. Hubs and I shared these sliders and loaded tater tots -- definitely delicious and shareable! He got a beer and I got a flight. I love that they had a good variety for both beers and bites! 3/5 Multiple visits, 2018-present. Solace is a fine brewery. The beer is perfectly serviceable. The food they added in the fine, if a touch on the expensive side, but it's nice to have an option in an area without a lot of places to eat. The service is good if not remarkable. They have a large room with plenty of arcade games for families. The biggest problem is that they have competition that brackets them in just about every way within a few minutes drive. Honor Brewing, literally across the street, has a full service restaurant with a better menu and somewhat better beer. Ocelot Brewing, a few minutes away, doesn't have a kitchen but has more cohesive environment including a bunch of highly sought after pinball machines along with by far the best beer in the area. So there's nothing wrong with Solace but against steep competition it doesn't quite hold up. That being said, if you wanted to hit a few breweries while in that area it's worth a stop. read more

Updating my old review now that they have a kitchen at this location. Beer: Solace continues to make some of the best brews in NoVA. Check out the Lucy Juicy Double IPA (DIPA) - (8.5% ABV) for a strong mix of fruit and danky hops. The Broad Street Brown (5.5% ABV) is a great option if you want something malty/toast but not overly sweet. When they have it the Stouty McStout Face (6.5% ABV) is a go to for anyone that loves a coffee forward stout. Food: solid bar/brewery level food. Decent burgers. Old school tater tots. Above avg salads. Nothing that will blow you away but it will get the job done. Frankly the food is better at Honor Brewing across the road but Solace wins by far on the beer. Misc: This is a production location so you get all the smells, sounds and visuals one would expect for a working brewery. I like that but I recognize that is not everyone's thing. Decent parking. Good service. Video games for the kids. Overall family with kids vibe. read more

You can always count on the breweries to be open when the wineries close. We visited Solace Brewing Company after wine tasting, which was a fun way to end our day of booze. Solace reminded me of the many solid breweries I've been to before: it's open and spacious, there's a chalkboard menu of the daily taps and TVs throughout were playing sports. No complaints here. Being from Washington, I'm particular about my IPAs, especially when I'm on the east coast. But I gotta say, Solace had a good list of different IPAs the night we visited. Unfortunately during COVID-19, they are not allowing a tasting flight, but they do offer beers in half pours. And when the bartender poured the beer, it was definitely more than half. Again, no complaints here. The beer were solid. Though I didn't find the bitter, imperial-style IPA that I tend to lean towards, the IPAs were solid. And I'm glad to know that Solace is making its way around town, offering craft beers, which far exceed Budweiser and beyond. Walked into the brewery - smelled like a brewery. So far so good, I knew I was in the right place. The brewery was huge, had some awesome tables, and Duck Donuts was outside, serving up tasty goodness (my first time, don't judge me). Me and a few friends showed up to participate in a puzzle competition, and so after we settled in, grabbed a couple beers, some pretzels, and shared a half dozen donuts, we were ready to get our puzzle on! We grabbed the puzzle, and puzzled, wrapping up in 41 minutes, took some pictures, turned our puzzle in. We noted the time that we started and stopped, because we figured we did pretty good (41 minutes!), and went to grab the event coordinator. She took our puzzle and time, nodded, checked, said thanks, and walked back behind the bar to write it down. Later on, without telling anyone who won and who didnt, she walked out! Passed us right by! We thought that was kinda odd, since we had talked to a bartender previously whom stated the the closest team to us was somewhere around 50 minutes. Two hours later, Solace posted that the winning puzzle was 51 minutes, and somehow we hadn't won. The math wasn't mathing. Now all that isn't really a problem, it was a fun competition and if someone beat us, I don't mind. But when we followed up and asked what happened, the lady behind the counter said that we had us at clocked in at an over an hour (1, false and we had pictures) and that she had already thrown away the sign in sheets that she had written things down on (2, who does that when there's money involved?), then shrugged and moved on with her life. The beer was fine, but the dishonesty from the staff was disheartening. If you do go do a contest in the future, might as well bug the person running the event and make sure she acknowledges you, and you get your time written down. Its petty, I get it, but still disappointing. I think that me and my group of five will not return to the brewery. read more

Solace is a large open space with a long bar and a separate kids area. It's very dog friendly, so bring the kids (or the fur-kids) grab a brew and settle in to watch a game on the big tv's spread across the bar. The bar was clean and, because it was so large, there was no problem getting served. They brewed a range of beers, from wheat to stout to IPA's, each with a great flavor and intensity. They let you try samples and even have a flight option if you can't choose... or just want to try them all! Hungry? There's a food truck with some pretty great smelling food outside! Snacks like jerky from a local spot are available for purchase in the bar. There's a bunch of outdoor seating too! A small (but cool) detail are the special foot sliders on the bottom of the bathroom r wooing you to open the bathroom door without touching it! Perfect for flu season haha! read more

2 stars because partly cloudy is a great beer but the brewery is clearly failing of late. We waited 90 minutes last Saturday for food before cancelling the order and leaving. They had one girl working the kitchen area. There were about 20 orders printed out waiting to be made. Honor was closed until 4 pm that day, so us like everyone else, left Solace at 4 and walked across the street to Honor. I am not affiliated with Honor but it seems they are winning the battle and mostly because of poor management at Solace. read more

Another great brewery in the NOVA area! The building is spacious with beer hall style seating and a large wrap around bar. They have a good number of pinball machines at 75 cents a play, and a few video games. I love the glass windows behind the bar, giving you a peek into the brewing process. The beers here are really solid. My faves were the the very lightly autumnal spiced She Made Me and the NEIPA Partly Cloudy. They have a great selection of merch, and food trucks seem to come on the regular. Definitely give them a visit! read more

Wide selection of beers - I am an IPA drinker and the various IPAs are excellent. I suggest trying all, but "foggy" something or another was my favorite. Here are my comments on the place: Great design - one of those breweries that is nicely set up and comfortable to be in. I just love to be there. Dog friendly - Everyone seems to have a dog (including me). I would say Solace Brewery is very very dog friendly. Clientele - this is a fun and friendly place, lots of people bring the kids, there are a large selection of pinball games on one side of the brewery that are fun for adults and kids. People are quite friendly - I always end up talking with folks I did not know before arriving. I recommend Solace Brewery as a stop on any visit to the northern Virginia brewery circuit, and it is one of my favorites. read more

We visited Solace Brewing Co. this past Monday, July 3. The brewery had special hours that holiday weekend - they are not usually open on Mondays. We arrived about 15 minutes after they had opened - around 2:15 pm. There were not yet many customers - so we had a chance to ask Holly, our beer tender - lots of questions about the brewery. We both went with a full tasting flight: Suns Out - Hops Out Session IPA (4.7% ABV) Brown Bomber Brown Ale (5.8% ABV) Patiently Waiting India Pale Lager (6.7% ABV) Beach Bod Summer Ale (5.7%) Serenity Now IPA (6.0% ABV) 2 Legit 2 Wit (5.7% ABV) My favorite brew was the "Patiently Waiting" India Pale Lager (IPL). Crisp and refreshing - a nice beer for hot summer days. One of the beers - I believe it was the Suns Out - Hops Out Session IPA - had a strange olfactory situation going on. Mine had warmed up a bit - before I tasted it. The beer had a rather funky and unpleasant odor and taste. Yet, when my friend Alex arrived - he ordered a full pint of the same beer - I tasted his - fresh and very cold - and the beer did not exhibit the "funkiness" we observed in a warmer version of the beer. Service was very good. We enjoyed chatting with the staff and chilling and hanging out. There is plenty of space - and the tasting room AC worked well enough so that it was comfy inside on a hot summer day. We did notice the Men's rest room felt like an absolute sauna. There was hot air blowing out of the vents. Very unpleasant! We reported this to the staff. Don't know what they plan to do to address the issue. Was here for a company event and they rented out the private space to the left with the arcade games. This brewery is very spacious and has a large bar. I'm not a beer drinker, but I did have the sours and they were good. Pretty decent selection of beers for those that do drink beer. I was genuinely shocked at Solace. After having visited a number of hole-in-the-wall breweries, I had started to get the impression they were all like that. But not here! This place is HUUUUGE, with a kids/family area, massive area for tanks (and room to expand), and 8 flagship beers on tap (and another one on rotation). Genuine shock! I asked around and learned that Solace indeed has eyes for expansion, and built this place with that in mind. They also built it for crowds, to include several flat screen TVs on the walls. If I had one complaint, is their beer lineup was IPA-heavy. Of course, if you're an IPA lover this is a bonus, not a problem. Suns Out Session IPA: It was advertised as relatively light on bitterness, but still too much for me. Belgian Wit: Pretty good; I could have done with more fruit notes, but definitely drinkable. Beach Bod: Excellent! Made with the Wit and watermelon. Manhunt Stout (Nitro and regular): I liked both, but preferred the smoother nitro over the nuttier stout. read more

Every beer I wanted to try was out on a Sunday, so I will definitely come back to see if I can try them. Really a bummer when you are out of 4-5 things and the Crazy Pils is the only non IPA-y item to drink, which is recommended to be close to a Budlight. The food truck they had there was pretty good (Res BBQ) and the space was big but acoustics make it really loud, especially with all the kids running around. A place I would come in the winter since there is not outside seating and it gets loud with the kids running around. read more

This was my first visit to this brewpub. It is large and modern. It was very crowded the day I visited. Guests had to wait in line at the bar for service. For the most part, they only serve beer. Some other beverages for non-beer drinkers are available from a cooler. The food service consists of a limited number of snacks. A food truck was parked outside. Visitors can bring their own food. They have a decent selection of beers. I liked their Lucy Juicy Double IPA best. While their beers were decent, I won't be going out of my way to return. read more

Hospitality was not good at all. Was told due to covid times as I pulled my mask down to taste a beer, as everyone else sitting has no mask at all on and I am 6'+ behind the counter, "I'm gonna need that mask all the way up 'my guy.'" And my brother the same response as he asked questions about beers for taste profiles. Never being to Solace before, there are no beer tastes, but have to pay for an 8oz pour which was definitely not 8oz, it was at best for three purchased beers 6oz each. read more

Excellent customer service, thank you! This location is near my house and is giving Ocelot (that other awesome brewing co just a couple miles away. It was on our way home from Happy Hour at Reston's McCormick & Schmicks when we dropped by just to check out what my friend and her beer-lover hubby Russ were fussing about, telling me how close this place was from my house that they told me I could practically walk to it. Anyway, the building has a wide open concept and I like that they have glass walls separating the tasting area from the steel tanks brewing the beer. It's like the building was divided in half, and the glass wall from end to end separates the two area. It does make for a good viewing so that's a plus. They also made it kid friendly and set aside a section for customers bringing in the little ones. The $1 suggestion for the all u can eat popcorn, scoop yourself was a nice touch. They are definitely bigger or appear to be bigger than Ocelot the way the place was laid out so I'm impressed! They offer lots of good selection of beers, a red wine concoction for those of you non-beer drinkers, and home brew sparkling flavored water of either a choice of lemon or blood orange. Oh yeah, don't expect the sparkling water to look like blood orange - it's just the flavoring and not necessary adapting to the blood red color, for a $1 was a great option for designated drivers like myself. Because it was about an hour before closing time, we stayed only long enough for to get a taste of one beer and for me the sparkling blood orange flavored water but a definite must come back to. One of my favorite places in northern Virginia for a good beer. They have a great ambiance with a industrial/warehouse-style interior. They also have outdoor seating in the summer which is great. Love that this place is dog friendly and there's food trucks there too if you want to grab a bite to eat. Will definitely make a trip back here soon. read more
