I do a lot of travel around the country. When it comes to choosing where I spend the overnights, I always pick hotels that have the best gyms. What I like about Crunch is I can use their clubs anywhere I go. I find this facility to have everything you would want in a club. Cleanliness, plenty of equipment, cardio and weight machines and free weights. I especially enjoy the variety of classes the club offers. Many other clubs just give you exercise equipment. This place offers both that and classes like spin, HIIT, yoga, and more. I always get a nice hello and a warm welcome no matter what club I visit. Being local to the Fairmont club gives me the added benefit of seeing friends and colleagues. read more

I've been at Crunch for about a year now and I really like it here! There's an abundance of trainers and staff who are so helpful with your needs and that keep your workout space neat and tidy. I really like that they offer classes (cycle, yoga, Zumba, HIIT, etc) as well as their other amenities (tanning, sauna). You can't beat the price! I visited yesterday to try out this gym since they have been sending postcards like crazy. One word of advice would be to have operating equipment if you are trying to gain new members. There were seven stair masters. Four of the seven had out of order signs! A lot of equipment is old and is carried over from the old Aspen gym. They couldn't even replace tricep ropes-- they were shredded and really gross.It definitely has an old has been vibe. I would not to go to this even if it was only $10 a month. It's very sad. Clean facilities with great commercial equipment. I used to attend this facility when it was named "Aspen". Staff very professional and helpful. Members are also courteous. Restrooms and locker room well maintained. Crunch has done a great job updating what was Aspen, creating a lot more space and efficiency. If you cannot get in ANY kind of workout at Crunch, I don't know where you can. Highly recommended! read more

I also had a horrible experience with Shane, the organization, and the management of Crunch. I had gone in and cancelled my membership with the front desk and still was charged for 2 months and the annual fee and when I called to ask about it Shane said that I was wrong and didn't cancel and that I've been getting voicemails from them about canceling even though there are no voicemails in my voicemail. He tried to make me feel dumb like I didn't understand what he was saying and was very rude. They need to be better organized with their cancellations and be better with customer service. This is now called Crunch. I had an awful experience. Don't believe them when they say you can cancel at anytime. I was first convinced to do personal training along with a regular membership. Big mistake especially after I needed to cancel due to a knee injury. I was charged for 2 additional months plus an annual fee after I let them know my situation. Never again would I go there! This is a super nice gym with plenty of parking. It's superior to its Jefferson Street location in terms of size, parking, amenities and classes. They have a cinema cardio room, tanning room, functional fitness room, juice bar, aerobics classes room, vending machines and much more. The functional fitness room has TRX equipment and a bunch of ginormous tires you can flip. This gym has a ton of equipment options and weights so regardless of how busy it gets, you'll have something to use that'll interest you. The gym is clean and the locker room is spacious. I was very impressed by this gym. They have workout classes that include weights, yoga, step, Zumba and cycling. They have a kids korner if you need to workout but have kids to care for. I have been a member of Aspen since they've opened. I original started in the Cicero location then I moved and I am now at the Fairmont location. In all these years I've never come across an employee with the most unprofessional, thinks his shit doesn't stink attitude as Shane. Someone must've told him he owns the gym or that the customer works for him. Some people are suited for customer service he is not one of those people. He's also a liar, little does he knw I have our complete email chain. I certainly hope Aspen isn't trying to take money from ppl who are not using their services. I stopped this afternoon to get some basic information about the club. At the desk were two young fit pretty people. When I asked about membership it was as if I had invited myself to dinner neither one seemed eager to assist me. They bantered and mumbled to back and forth to each until I asked if there was a information leaflet I could take with me. The young man left from behind the counter to look in another area for information to give me all the while exchanging glances at each other as if I had two head. He returned and gave me the paper explaining the membership information. and as I left the two behaved in the classic "Mean Girl" behavior laughing and mocking me. I've gone to this gym since they opened this location several years ago, and I really like it. Very clean, and everything seems well maintained. I really like the variety of fitness classes, but recently they've started charging extra for some new classes, which rubs me the wrong way... we already pay a monthly fee! They have personal trainers for an extra fee, childcare, and a juice bar. They do get busy, but I've never had a problem finding a machine or a spot in a class. I would recommend. read more

This place is disgusting and they will never let you cancel your membership. I started the process of trying to cancel my membership in May because I just don't go there anymore. It's now the middle of July and I'm still getting messages from Shane at member services telling me that I haven't met the requirements. Keep in mind that when I started this process they only told me I needed to mailing a letter or stop in the club to cancel my membership. Now almost 3 months later I'm being told that I need to send in a $75 cancellation fee for the first time. Aspen is one of many gyms I have been to in the past 10 years. They compete with locally-owned Pine Grove Country Club for my business, but always come out the winners because of price and motivation. Price: When I visit, they arrange an affordable 1 or 2 week deal for me and my girlfriend. Motivation: There are weights-a-plenty and big guys everywhere. I go there and get pumped. Here's what loses the stars and only earns them 3/5 Dickheads: A LOT of these guys really have staring problems. Whether it be my girlfriend in her gym attire, or my shirts that say CrossFit on them, or the fact that I got to the squat rack first, they stare. It's a mean stare, combined with non-subtle conversations with their friends while they nod my way. I'm glad I don't come here year-round because this would turn me off completely. *Their Personal Trainers are no exception to this behavior. Is the staff in charge of policing attitude? Of course not (well, maybe if they cared about the atmosphere of their gym...but that's not what they're paid to do). But the one dude who wears his singlet and walks around with his arms so far out away from his body...seriously, someone needs to point him toward a gym etiquette sign. And the skinny guy with his hood up 24/7 who overcompensates by dropping his deadlifts from hip-height, standing on three plates! Everyone else in the gym wants to scream, but they are counting on staff to at least say SOMETHING. If I was looking for a gym community to be a part of, this would not be it. If I'm looking for a place to lift weights while in town for the holidays, I'll take it. Thanks to Craig and Shane (management, as far as I can tell). If customer service alone kept a company in business, Aspen would have been gone long ago. Many members are happily paying the $5.00 a month to keep memberships active and to help keep Aspen in business during this COVID pandemic. When a member simply e-mails to ask a question about the yearly membership dues they are charging and you get an extremely rude response, it certainly doesn't want you to keep supporting this business. You would think that they would have the decency to be respectful to loyal customers. It shows how unprofessional they are and that they are not appreciative of their members trying to help them during this crisis. Just to inform you Aspen management, not everyone reads the information on your Facebook page. A letter or e-mail to your members would be a better way to communicate. Get with it Aspen, train your customer service people on how to treat your loyal customers properly or you will end up losing many more members than you already have! read more

Aspen gym has the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. The Manager Shane is less than personable. This gym felt it was plausible to charge $5.00 monthly "maintenance" fees during a global pandemic and statewide shutdown. A fee that I didn't receive an email, letter, or call saying was going to occur. Aspen then charged me $44 during this shutdown period and claims this was their "yearly fee". Funny, how does a company that is indefinitely shut down charging me for the year at full cost? For months this gym was closed, so how am I being charged for the full year when I wasn't able to utilize the services for months? I couldn't contact them during the times I was being charged as nobody was there to answer their phones, because they were well, shutdown.. So, I called my bank to shut down my card because I had no idea why I was being charged all of these random amounts. I then get a call on October 6th from the Manager Shane at the Fairmount Aspen location. He was cold, disrespectful, and truly rude. He told me I owed this gym $97.00 and if I wasn't willing to pay it then I'd be sent to collections. Right off the bat. That's what he said. Instantly put a bad taste in my mouth and when I tried asking the same questions I've stated above I'm told "this is our policy". I then, to boot am told I also owe for September. On October 6th. Well I didn't even know I still had a membership with these people considering no form of communication occurred at all up to this point. So we get done going through all of that and he says "so do you want to cancel your membership?" I said "yes absolutely why would I want to do business with people who have blatantly stolen from me." He said "OK well you'll need to come in or put in writing the cancellation I won't be able to do that for you over the phone." I said "okay that's fine." So fast forward to today, October 21, 2020. I walked in and stood around and after about 3 minutes a man walks over and asks how he can help me. I said "I'd like to cancel my membership." He proceeded to ask me why and I told him the gist of what occurred on the phone. He goes "yeah I remember now, you talked to me." I said "ok." This man proceeded to make me feel fully harassed during the entire cancellation. I told him that I'm not paying the "balance" as I don't find it fair and no clear explanation was given to me to justify this payment. He continued questioning me and then saying "never mind it's not even worth it because you just want to see it your way." And THEN tells me that I lost the dispute I filed with my bank. I told him that, that is not true because I can see the money on my card. He goes "No you can't but whatever." ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I legitimately drove to my bank directly from this gym and they told me I did not lose the dispute and that this guy was clearly just trying to harass me. So I am posting my experience to share what happened to me at Aspen. I had a Planet Fitness Membership for almost 9 years with no issues, I see a local personal trainer and have for over a year. I have never experienced this level of horrible service before and I hope you read this and decide to go somewhere else. I personally worked in a Bank doing customer care for 2 years and currently work for a company who survives on subscriptions. Aspen is a nice facility, compared to what's available in the area...it offers classes and has a decent amount of equipment. The other reviews here & those posted for the other locations especially are spot on. I'd like to highlight their payment policy, a part of the contract. A part I'd suggest asking them to amend. Once the contract is up, you will be billed indefinitely until you come in person to cancel the membership. Fine; who wouldn't be willing to stop in and cancel to avoid charges. Well, let's say you are out of town when the membership expires. Or unable to make it in for any reason... Then what? Years from the point of sale, You may not know what you will be doing. So, you call, explain, they do not care. They will allow you to pay over the phone, yes, but will not allow you to cancel over the phone. I was told "to cancel over the phone would invite random ppl to cancel others' memberships." How often are memberships being cancelled? There must be something we can do... Nothing can be done. OK, show up. In person. To "cancel." They will continue billing you indefinitely until you pay for the charges incurred whilst you were away. Now I know something is wrong with this. You are now fully aware that I no longer want your service, I have shown up. In person. Per your request; wait- Demand. So...can't blame this one on other ppls random acts of malice. Only yours. If you are unable to pay for the subsequent fees at that time, you will continue to be billed by Aspen Athletic, I was told, for years...they will never stop billing. Even after making it crystal clear...right, they will still bill. It's the bill that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends. I would actually rate this gym lower than one star yet the review does not allow for this rating! I would not advise individuals to go to this gym. I am writing this review Feb 2023 so individuals are aware of Shane . He is the person in charge. I wish I had seen past reviews written on him one by Adam K written 7/21/21 and another written by Jennifer J written 12/18/20. I was in Aspen trying to resolve an issue with my contract. Shane told me he could not answer the question to contact Customer Service. I stated to him you are the manager and you cannot answer this question. After a back and forth of repeating the same words. Why can't you answer this if you are the manager. He told me to get out or he was calling the police on me. He raised his voice to me in front of member who were looking. I left. After I left. he started calling me on my private line He was rude and arrogant. He was trying to tell me I was banned. He called me twice each time being rude. I told him I was hanging up on him. I told him he was harassing me. After he called the second time, and I hung up, the phone rang again from a private ID. It was the Geddes Police. He had actually contacted them to have them tell me I was banned. As if I would go back to this gym ever again. I contacted Customer Services asked for a formal apology. They were helpful in giving me a partial refund. I requested an apology from Shane in writing for what his actions were. The young lady Tylor with customer service stated she would look into an apology. Three days later she calls back stating she has no power over this situation. I asked Taylor if the owner Nikki was aware of this situation . And if Nikki could explore resolution. To which Taylor adamantly refused taking it further to Nikki. So this is my best option. If Shane had apologized he would have been held accountable for his actions. Since I received no apology, I put this review out for all to see. DO NOT GO TO ASPEN!!!!!! I gave them a 1 because I couldn't rate it any lower. Don't sign anything or you will be stuck in an abusive relationship that you will never be able to get out of. I have been a member for over a year and spent over 2000 dollars in fees and personal training. When my trainers was dismissed they refused to refund my money. I wrote 3 emails and called and no one would respond to be. I was told if I canceled I'd just lose my 18 sessions, over 400 dollars, so now I'm stuck another month with a gym I hate to use up these sessions. When I told them just to schedule me every day so I could used them up I was told that I had to be placed with a trainer and work off of their schedule. I HATE aspen and wouldn't recommend it to my worse enemy. A complete waste of time, money, and energy. I should have used the 2k for a nice vacation. I need one after dealing with them. read more

Tonight as I was considering how to start this review I thought I've really missed an opportunity here. No, not to get fit(that too), but to document the mountains of used paper towel flowing out of the waste receptacles in the ladies locker room over the past three years. I could have made a montage and set it to music. Seriously, get someone to empty the trash. No matter what time of day I go, boom, there it is. Side note- I'm glad people are washing their hands. A lot. On to the hightlights- For the first year of my membership there was a basic bathroom scale in the locker room and then one day it was gone. It is now kept by a trainers desk. In the middle of the gym. Im not kidding, or weighing myself there anymore. It's just not very convenient. My membership came with two free training sessions, and Every staff member I've interacted with has been helpful, kind and professional. I've worked out many different times of day, never found the gym uncomfortably congested, although peak hours are busy. One note on negotiating your price of membership, make sure you do a trial and let them check in with you, make offers and counter offer. It's a bit of a dance, but I'm very pleased with the price I paid. (less than other budget gyms). There was brief negotiation, money up front and a friendly welcome to Aspen. You can pay per month as well. Classes included are really good, many to choose from. They also have paid classes like TRX for $10 a class for members, $15 for non. Decent size classes too. They do have hours for childcare, although I've never used it. I've seen the area and it looks nice, secure, ect. The gym equipment is standard and maintained really well. It is a huge gym and I'm always surprised by how well everything is kept. Great cardio machines and they all work!! The sauna is nice, I would like the locker room bathroom area to be cleaner, but over all a decent budget friendly place to work out. Oh and you can pay extra for towel service. read more

It has a good amount of equipment, free classes, and the price isn't bad ($20 a month, then a yearly membership fee of $30 or so, and to sign up it's $150.00, but thankfully I had a gift certificate for that) but otherwise, I would not recommend this facility. In the woman's locker room, the trash was almost always overflowing and the two stalls were a mess. On the gym floor itself, I don't know how many times I saw the same water bottles (or coffee cups...who's drinking Tim Horton's at the gym?!) and used paper towels in the exact same place for days in a row. If they can't even pick those up, who's to say anything else is getting cleaned properly? The overall atmosphere is not very welcoming, right from the minute you walk in (if there was someone at the front desk, you were lucky if they could even muster up a hello). The two original people I spoke with when joining were great (James and Kim), but other than that, the staff gets a thumbs down. Most of them mainly seemed interested in socializing with each other and not much else (There was one guy though, don't know his name - dark hair and taught the TRX class that I ALWAYS saw working with people). The gym members weren't any better. A lot of them had a very judgmental and superior air about them (at first I thought it was in my head, but had multiple friends who worked out at this location and said the same thing, to the point they stopped going). As Billy P. said in his review, they like to stare. A LOT. They hover as well. If I were on a machine they wanted, many would stand right near me, staring and impatiently waiting. Talk about uncomfortable! The place was also filled with meatheads, who quite enjoyed bringing attention to themselves, parading around on the floor and yelling as loud as possible while lifting. On the other hand, there was a good amount of women that would come in full hair and makeup and then just...sit. Just hang out on a machine and do nothing but play on their phone. Never once saw a staff member say anything to them either. My main issue though, stems from trying to cancel. Between illness and injury, I was unable to workout from May through September. Once I was feeling well enough to workout again, I realized this place was not for me and wanted to cancel. In September, I went in and was told that I was under contract until January, so either wait until then or pay a $75 cancellation fee. They did offer an alternative, where I could place my membership on hold for $5 a month, and that I could come in in December to cancel for good. Fine, whatever. December rolls around, and I go in exactly one month before my contract ends as I was told, and the girl at the desk proceeds to tell me I cannot cancel until January. Um, what? Apparently there was a note on my account saying I couldn't cancel until then. I had some more questions, but she did not seem to interested in helping, just kept repeating the same, "Come in in January" line. I called soon after leaving with one more question, about whether or not I'd be charged the full amount for the months I was on hold when I do cancel. Once again, no help, no actual answer, nor interest in getting one, so she gave me a number to call, which turned out to be for the best. I called and spoke with a very helpful woman named Michelle, who kept sincerely apologizing and was taken aback by the trouble I was being given and told me I should have been able to cancel when I went in the second time. She made sure my membership was cancelled right away, and that I would only be charged another $5 in January for the last month, and that would be that.
