I've become increasingly frustrated with the scheduling at this office. My appointments have been rescheduled multiple times, often with only a day or a week's notice. On other occasions, I've received calls asking if I can drop everything and come in immediately because an opening became available. It seems that management or staffing may have changed, as I don't recall experiencing these issues in the past. I returned to this location after purchasing a home in the area, and I was previously very satisfied with the care and scheduling at the Mechanicsville location. The constant rescheduling has become inconvenient enough that I'm considering contacting my dental insurance provider to explore other options. The receptionist has always been kind, patient, and professional, and I understand these scheduling issues are likely beyond her control. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for her to handle so many rescheduling calls from frustrated patients. I hope the office can improve its scheduling process, as it would make a significant difference in the overall patient experience. read more

This place just absolutely sucks. The secretary is never at the desk- had to wait several minutes, just standing there until she came back. She insisted my insurance wouldn't work and made me call my insurance company. Everything here is super slow moving. They told me to wait for the hygienist to come in and then they forgot about me. I sat waiting in the room by myself for over 40 minutes. When the doctor saw me, he spent maybe 5 minutes with me. When I finally was able to leave, i couldn't check out because the secretary was (of course) not at the desk. I just don't trust this place much at all. Everyone was unprofessional, except for the doctor- but he was largely unhelpful. I made an appointment here as an emergency for a severe toothache i've been having, and the doctor told me i should have the tooth pulled and then left. Didn't give me any recommendations for managing the pain or anything I didn't feel taken seriously at all. read more

I doesn't know about the feelings and the thoughts of other patients, but Aspen Dental staff was very professional, polite, they care about the patients feelings and they will do any and everything in their power to make you feel comfortable. If you are nervous they will sit there and talk to you along with the doctors who are working your case. I will recommend Aspen Dental to everyone that I know and put out "shouts" for the excellent service that I received. Very very professional, courteous, very knowledgeable and sweet. Absolutely fantastic experience for me, I had some major dental work done there and I am scared to death of dentists but here everyone was so accommodating and patient with my nerves. The Dentist was absolutely fantastic with explaining everything to me and easing my fears and now I am smiling again. The costs were way better here than the other places I had estimates from based on not having insurance. The office staff actually does answer their phones, The only drawback was that when initially quoted I said sorry that's too much and suddenly I was offered 20% off so anyone else going there just tell them too expensive. I am not a fan of this cause if I read my own review just now, I would have felt so ripped off BUT they still deserve my 5-star rating other than that one issue. read more

The ease of scheduling was great, I was suffering and needed treatment fast and found their online scheduling convenient. Everyone in the office really were super friendly and I really wanted to make this my spot. Unfortunately it didn't work out. Ended up getting the full assessment on my whole mouth, only to be told before any treatment I needed to come up with a larger sum of money than I ever expected considering it was one tooth causing the suffering. I ended up finding another office the next day and they immediately resolved the issue at a fraction of the price. Not the best option if you are in an emergency type of situation and without insurance. read more

Billing is suspect. Over all deceptive dentist. Lies about services need. Perform unnecessary treatment and bill you for something you never needed. Will never use them again. I should have check BBB and litigation before making appointments because the acquisition are spot on. Dentist is the new politicians. Shameful. read more

I would give them a 0 star if I could. Awful and worse experience ever! Misleading, deceptive and very unprofessional practice. Set up appt for family for service. Was told they took the insurance. Then later found out they do not take the insurance although listed as my insurance company's provider. One of my family members was scheduled first and did receive service with our insurance. She went for one visit, same time for multiple things...basic cleaning, filling, etc. Was told each service is billed as a separate visit so each service had a separate office visit fee?! Talked to manager she was most unprofessional and rude. Had to file a dispute with my insurance company. Do not recommend them to anyone! Not even my dog! read more

I had an appointment scheduled for 8/27/25. I am needing to get a full set of dentures. I was contacted by Aspen Dental in Chester the day before my appointment telling me I would have to reschedule. When I called in. I was told Doctor would not be in that day. The next available appointment I could get would be 9/24/25. I am nervous about having this procedure done. I am now feeling relieved that this happened. I can see this would have been a mistake using them for this serious procedure. I am thinking they must not have a full staff. If they had done my procedure if I had any problems I would be in trouble because they do not maintain a full doctor staff every day. Needless to say I now know when contacting another dentist one of my questions will be do you have a full staff of doctors that are available during business hours if an emergency arises. Hope this will help someone else when making this important discission on having dental work done at this business. read more

I had money on my account. Yet they they still refused to see me. They told me I wasn't a patient there. I was. I was in the middle of having a lot of work done. Just got back from the endodontist for a follow up and to have a crown put on. No crown. I got thrown out. They kept asking me "why are here sir" every time I tried to speak. Your not in our system they said. I was. And would not let me speak. Just kept badgering me with " Why are here? You are not in the system. Why are here? I wasn't allowed to speak. I called the main Number to resolve this. I could only get through to a machine. It found me in the system. Then it refunded me the money I had left on my Aspen account for further work. I have never been treated like this by anyone in my life. So rude. Embarrassed me in front of all the other patients. It was bad. She really made a spectacle of me in front of everyone. I'm scared to call back. I don't know what to do. Since then I have done nothing. Yet I need so much done. read more

Do not become a patient at Aspen Dental. This is not an ethical company. For example, I was charged for a procedure that was not performed. Instead of refunding my money, I had to sue them in Small Claims Court to get my refund. Also, I caught the office manager and other staff telling several me lies. If I could give less than one star, I would. Total waste of time. Told them up front I needed a reline of dentures when appointment was scheduled. They called day of appointment to ask if they were the ones that made the dentures. I told them no. They said come in and they would assess whether they could do reline. Tried to do new patients forms online but wouldn't let you unless you had an account number. As a new patient, no one provided me an account number in advance and couldn't get a live body on the phone to assist me. So not sure what the point is for them to send you a link to complete new patient forms online. Printed forms, completed them and still arrived 15 mins early just in case. Sat in waiting room for an hour. No one else there. Asked how much longer. Snarky tech from back comes out and complains that they are under staffed and very busy but they "might" be able to have the tech take a look at the dentures to see if they could even reline them. Did she expect me to pop my dentures out standing at the reception counter and put them in her hand to walk them to the lab? Said I'd have to come back for another appointment for impressions because they don't have time today and then come back for the reline in a different appointment. I told them I'd find someone else as they clearly couldn't handle the task. Nearly every business in every state is short staffed. It's the times we live in. No one wants to work any more. But if you know your down two dental assistants, then DON'T BOOK MORE APPOINTMENTS THAN YOU HAVE STAFF TO COVER. You wasted my time. I had to pay a baby sitter to watch my child. I had to take off work without pay and burn gas going 30 minutes each way for absolutely nothing. I damn well better not get charged for this visit in which you were too busy to provide any services. Save your time and money and go elsewhere--somewhere that actually has the staff to provide the services they book. read more

I went to Aspen dental because they had a complimentary initial exam. I was impressed by how thorough the examination was. The second and third visit was my deep cleaning. That went well; the person did a phenomenal job deep cleaning. The fourth time I went to get two of my filling done. I walk into the waiting room at about 7:20 AM, and my appointment is at 7:30 AM. They called me back into the exam room a few minutes later. They put the numbing gel a few minutes after I sat in the chair. Then a few minutes later, I received a couple of shots in my gum. I had yet to hear why I was sitting an hour before the procedure had yet to start. So, I left out just passed 8:30 AM. I'm not happy about what happened at that visit. Why was I treated like a 3rd class patient? That visit I rated at ONE STAR. Overall I ranked this Aspen dental at FOUR STAR. read more

PERFECTION DOES EXIST!! This Aspen Dental practice is in Chester, VA. Cannot speak for other locations. These guys are AMAZING! Extremely professional; courteous (no kidding: you will feel like a long-time best friend or the cool family everyone loves! Amazing staff, fast responses, accurate billing, extremely professional, beautiful new practice, super modern equipment! From the front desk (Nicole) to the x-ray room (Essex), to the hygienist (Claudette), to the dentist (Dr. T.), to the account manager (Erika) best of the best! All procedures were explained more than I had expected. And the bill?? I've never had a place billing me correctly without a fight: I am still in awe on how Erika actually called the insurance company, before she put the charges together. They are not pushy and respect your choices. Lots of great tips too! Absolutely worry/hassle free practice. I wish many more people will find out about them and give them a try! Oh, the green room (for after your examination/procedures): calm, relaxing, with a nice big screen TV, private! Loved it. Dr. T. is a sweetheart, and excellent at his work! Lots of passion. Thank you guys!! P.S.: I have DMO insurance and must stay within the "small" network. I have tried over 8 dentist in this area: one worse than the other. So, finding this practice gave me hope and removed a huge fear and inconvenience off my back.
