Have no complaints on care after a crown replacement and a cleaning appointment. Office support is not great. Billing is incorrect even after a call laying everything out to their customer service. Appointments are canceled, rescheduled, and canceled again without notice or apology--resulting in a wasted trip. Care coordinator absent after an appointment, was told she would call for follow up appointment scheduling--never followed up. Just too hard to stick with them, and I really wanted to. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Worst customer service ever. Booked an appointment for a very sore tooth. Went in on a Thursday and they did x-rays and said root canal or extraction. They could not schedule the root canal for several weeks so booked the extraction for Monday. They called Friday to say I needed another xray before they could do the extraction. Then they said their x-ray machine was broken and it might be a week before its fixed. When I was there I never felt welcome. They never explained anything. Made me pay in advance so I had to get a refund. They are more interested in up selling things for your "smile". Avoid at all costs. read more

My Granddaughter was in pain because of her wisdom teeth coming in. I called Aspen Dental made them aware of the situation and got an appointment scheduled the next morning. We arrived and met with the very courteous staff. After the exam, we met with Ms. Kandice Jackson(Office Manager), who was very professional, considerate and kind. She explained in detail everything we needed to know. Thanks to Ms. Jackson and her guidance we were able to get the surgery scheduled before the end of the year. I went to this office for a few years they retreated a root canal and lost my xrays so then immediately told me it needEd to be retreated because they had no idea of the progress of shrinking. i had my breaking point when I paid in full $1200 for the eight cavities they claimed I had only to have them cancel my appointment even tho I had confirmed the appointment with reception and also PAID IN FULL $1200!!! when I showed up for my appointment they were closed! i called as soon as they opened asking them to just refund me. it took three weeks for them to refund me!!! i just finally got in with a new dentist who confirmed I only have ONE CAVITY!!! NOT EIGHT!!! this place should be ashamed of their business practices. not only did they lie and make countless errors but they always were ready to gaslight me about their inconsistency. Unfortunately I'm forced to give these crooks at least 1 star. I had an appointment in December 2021 to discuss a bottom denture. I currently have 2 implants which will be used to secure a bottom denture because bottom dentures tend to come loose easily. I was told how much it would cost and got approved for $1000 for financing to go towards these costs. I received a message saying they need to know exactly what kind of implants I had so they can uncover them and move forward with the procedure. After failed attempts on my end to get the information from the dentist office that placed these implants I informed Aspen Dental and received this response from Allison Butler on February 14, 2022 who is the treatment plan coordinator: Good morning Mr. B, What is the name of the dentist and their phone number and I will try and reach out next week as well! Thank you! Allison I gave her this information and received this response from Allison Butler: I was able to get the information! I will give to my doctor and then give you a call! Thank you! I had an appointment in April 2022 with the doctor who will be doing the procedure and he told me that they need to know what kind of implants I had so they can uncover them and move forward with the procedure. WHAT?! I was told by Allison Butler that this information was already obtained in the above emails she sent me. Conclusion: This office has taken $1000 from me and has done absolutely nothing! They don't return calls or emails and haven't made any attempt to contact me to make things right. I have heard nothing from them since April 2022. It's July 2023. They need to give me my $1000 back or they can pay me back $1000, my attorney's fees, they're attorney's fees and court costs. read more

They advise 20% off all plans but they don't honor that in there office. The front desk receptionist never returned my calls. She over charged me only by a few cents or a few dollars and had and attitude when I td her, she never sent it back. I never went back and would not go there again. read more

I found this practice on the Cigna website. My son told me he was experiencing pain, so he wanted to be serviced in Virginia rather than wait to see the dentist in Detroit he's been seeing since birth. Although he advised them his dentist recommended a root canal and a crown in December 2021, they took X-rays and asked for $500 up front before confirming his next dental visit. Since he is on my insurance, I called numerous times to first out why they are billing us first when they are an in network practice with Cigna, pay and set up his appointment for treatment. No one ever answers the phone. I've left 5 messages with their answering service and no one has called me back. This has been going on for over a week. I'm on the phone with Cigna complaining now. Don't come here. I wish I had read these reviews rather than rely on what I saw on the Cigna website. This is a massive dental chain/franchise with no personalized service. read more

Beware... Incompetent dentist - poorly developed skills. Plan of care that included services that I did not need, verified by a private dentist. Money trap! Went for a tooth ache that nothing was done to rectify. Relief achieved by endodontist. Returned for permanent crown. Gum and bone removed. Left with sutures and pain. Aspen dental would not rectify the issues. Said it was a local dentist that owned practice even though their shingle hangs out front. I would love if I could leave Zero stars for the Mechanicsville, VA site of Aspen Dental. I have been serviced by Aspen at multiple locations in multiple cities and the experience I received at the Mechanicsville site is just horrible. I've waited had to go to the office on numerous occasions due to no one ever returning my call. Even was understanding of the company having a cyber attack but even upon me being reasonable still terrible communication and inside the office the staff has terrible communication and are the furthest thing from organized. The doctors are great when you are able to get an appointment completed to see them but everything related to the business office is a disaster. read more

Always a different hygenist and always giving me something my insurance doesnt cover: Xrays, flouride, etc..I don't have bad teeth, never did. After COVID, I was suppose to have my 6 month checkup-they called the day before to tell me there were NO hygenists as 1 was on maternity leave and they needed to hire more-would call me when they did. I waited 6 months, never got a call. Left a message, never replied. (You can't use online for Mechanicsville office). Called twice more, over the past year, with never a response back. read more

I moved to Richmond and I needed to find a new dentist. I was switching jobs at the time so my insurance had not kicked in yet so for my first appointment they did the examination and everything but had me wait for the cleaning until my insurance was valid which saved me a lot of money. I decided to go through the process of invislign with them and I am very happy I did! They were extremely helpful in finding me the best deal. If I could give them zero stars, I would. They said I needed a root canal but then told me I'd have to pay for all of my treatments and that they wanted to do overtime in full on day one. They refused to use my second insurance and up charged everything. They even added a toothbrush to the cost of the visits. The financial advisor suggested I get the tooth pulled for a fraction of the price. I decided to go with that. And paid almost $200 for it to be pulled. A few days later, I changed my mind and told them I'd like a refund and that I would find a new dentist that didn't up-charge everything and had a better attitude. They told me that the $200 I paid would go towards my initial visit and not my future one. I stopped by, and they had not canceled my appointments in hopes I wouldn't notice so they could charge me a no-call, no-show fee. I'm sure others have had a good experience with Aspen, but the one in Mechanicsville, VA was not a good experience for me. I have called a few times over the last few months, asking for a refund. I was always told that a manager would have to call me back with no callback. I finally called after four months and was asked if I received multiple treatments, and as I didn't, they said they would submit my refund for review. When I asked if my second insurance was on file, they said it wasn't being used. I hope no one else has an experience like I did. read more

Whatever you do, do NOT go here! I live 45 minutes away and don't usually come "into town" except for appointments so I try to book all my appointments on the same day to save me a trip. I had my 1st appointment at 12:30pm and got there 15 minutes early as requested. The receptionist was totally rude ignoring me while I stood there waiting for some acknowledgement that she saw me. When she finally acknowledged me she told me to sit and someone would be with me soon. About 45 minutes later I was still sitting there waiting with no communication from the receptionist. She came out from her desk and locked the outside door - still no explanation. About 20 minutes later someone else from the office told me that they closed from 1-2pm for lunch. So since I was locked in I waited. By the time I was finally seen and the 1st part of the process was complete it was after 3pm and I had no lunch. When the dentist came in he was very patronizing. He treated me like I had no sense at all. He was rude and I did not like him but I realize you don't have to like your dentist's personality as long as his work was good. My next appointment was made by the dental assistant for 9:30 the next week because I had another appointment at 10:30am and I would only be there about 15 minutes. Got there for appointment #2 at 9:20 and was called back quickly at 9:30am. I sat in the dentist chair for 30 minutes with no one coming to check on me or to explain the delay. Finally someone came in and said that I was down for a 10am appointment! My appointment card showed 9:30am and I explained that I had another medical appointment at 10:30. The dentist RAN into the room fussing about the rush. He did what he had to do and I just made my next appointment. My 3rd appointment was made for 2 weeks later because they were busy! I booked an appointment for 9am on a Monday that I had another appointment the same day. On Sunday I saw an EMAIL - no phone call - saying they cancelled my appt and to call and reschedule. Of course they were closed until Monday! I am yet to have a positive experience at this place! read more

When I got there for my appointment they treated me like I had the plague before I even entered the office. I had to wear one of their masks (nbd) and stand in the heat waiting for them to open the door. Upon entering they asked me a series of Covid questions which is normal, but then they insisted I provide them with documents of my negative Covid test-- that I had gotten a month prior to the appt. umm HIPAA? I was able to sift through my email to get for them, but it was an invasion of my medical history honestly. And the lady doing this was so rude. Like she treated me as if i had Covid. Which of course I did not and never have. The appointment was fine, though I was confused as to why they didn't do a cleaning. They explained they do that after they run the insurance. I've never gone to a place like this, and won't again. Strange way they handle things. Maybe it's more for people with no insurance? I wasn't aware of this before the appointment. Very rude receptionist because I was clearing my throat (from allergies I may add yes I've had chest xrays and blood work done to make sure I don't have that virus) she just kept staring at me while I was talking looking at me like I was crap underneath her shoe. I should've left then and there, I had them look at the sores in my mouth they were unhelpful ad the nurse who was taking my xrays seemed irritated when I complain about pain because the mouth gar was cutting the inside of my gums. You guys also tried to talk me into paying 75 dollars for an oral cancer screening which I denied. The mirror the nurse gave me was gross and filthy you got a law suit coming if I get sick from this place, wouldn't that be ironic? Your staff thought I had the coronavirus and I end up getting it from your facility. I get being safe but the way to woman treated e in the front desk is unacceptable if she's so afraid she should stay home, I could hear your doctors talking about me too they were so scared of me having this virus they wanted me to go but I guess your polices say you can't turn people away? Regardless this place is terrible and I won't ever be coming back that's obviously what you wanted anyway , and I'm going to make sure everyone I know never steps foot into this place, I already had several friends/family members cancel their appointments here. read more
