Last night one of my bottom left tooth cracked while eating dinner. This morning at work I called and they got me in for noon time. Tooth was extracted but I give the Dr. Cunningham and her assistant Aryah 5 stars! The Dentist was amazing because she wanted to make sure I wouldn't feel the pain so told me after the first medication went in, if you feel anything "raise your left hand" I did and she used more Novocain and then was able to extract the tooth. zero stars. I moved just a year ago and am a distance now from my family dentist. I recently broke a tooth and decided to visit Aspen Dental "for a quick fix". My 1st visit was rushed and I was given a quick exam and then multiple X-Rays. I was then escorted to the receptionist for "a review of services". I was told the broken tooth required a root canal. But, first I needed a full cleaning and scaling. They required a deposit ahead of services and provided me with the "total cost" for all, (cleaning, scaling, x-rays, anesthesia, root canal and crown), with expected payments due at each scheduled visit. I was provided the necessary appointments and bid goodbye. I had to then ask, what could be done about the broken tooth, as I had no desire to go weeks with it in the current state. (sharp edge was doing damage inside my mouth). My appointment was the last of the day and I was taken back to the exam room, where the tooth was quickly drilled to a somewhat smoother edge and it was quite apparent those who were working with me, wanted to close up. I should have cancelled appts with Aspen and made them with my dentist instead. however, I decided to continue with Aspen. The scaling and cleaning appointments were okay. My root canal was not as pleasant and I was quite unhappy with the temporary crown, which came off less than 24 hrs later. I returned for the final crown and made my final payment, which in total, was several hundred more than quoted. I have had pain and discomfort with this tooth since Aspen Dental touched it. A root canal is supposed to kill the nerves, mine is quite alive! The gum is still swollen around this tooth, months after the procedure. I believe I have an abcess and am making plans to see my own dentist as I have no trust that Aspen Dental will properly correct the situation and I refuse to put any additional money in their pockets. Find a reputable dentist office and abpid "the chain". While I'm certain you can find good and bad experiences no matter where you go, the reviews shared here are enough to make me think twice. I wish I'd taken the time to review ahead and listened to my gut after the first appointment. no stars, still in pain! read more

Aspen Dental Methuen, Mass and Dental First financing has a Very poor review they dont even deserve a star to be honest. They advertise on The television and on the windows of establishment 100% guaranteed,or if not satisfied with dentures we will make it right or give you your money back. Well let me tell you, i had services in May of 2022. I did get financed from Dental First financing so i did go forward with services for a partial plate with 3 teeth on it. So in the long run the plate didn't fit properly when I was eatting or any other time it was very uncomfortable, and they threw at me a bunch of products i didn't need and they said i did. So in the end of it all i returned everything that was given to me, meaning the products and the partial plate. A year later i am still paying the financing company bill for products and a partial plate that I have already return to Aspen Dental so it doesn't effect my credit score. So my complaint is never go to ASPEN DENTAL they dont live up to there expectations, with there advertisement 100% guaranteed money back if not satisfied. I am not satisfied returned everything that was given to me and still paying for something i don't have. They have gotten there merchandise back and a partial plate. Im still pay....... If I took a star away it was simply because the young lady in the front was very dry and quick to brush me off without finishing my sentence. Decided to transfer locations as I moved, so went from Aspen Dental in Medford to Methuen. Bad idea! On my first visit, I waited for an hour then on the second they were able to do my filings but not my cleaning because the hygienist was double booked. Really?!?! ANother thing, while doing my filing Dr. Murphy shocked the hell out of my tongue and when I said something, she acted like that was normal with no apology. WTH, that's not normal as in all my years of dental visits, I never had my poor tongue shocked while the dentist was numbing. In a nut shell.... Skip this place!!! I went to this office a few years back as a new patient and was able to get a filling. I felt like I was on an assembly line. Yesterday I tried calling them for help for an emergency situation, their after-hours number put me in touch with a nice lady in Tennessee who gave me another number to call for help. That number put me back in touch with the Methuen office and that went nowhere as nobody picked up the phone. Never again. read more

Would not recommend Aspen Dental. I have been going there for a few years now, and have spent thousands there already, but I've had enough, and do not plan to give them any more of my money, they have scammed me one time to many.( I have been going to the one in Methuen, Ma. ) The head Dentist, and technical staff are okay, and somewhat friendly, and competent, but every time I go there, even for routine stuff that is covered, ie: a cleaning, they charge me for supplies, and services that I did not ask for, nor did they discuss it with me ahead of time. I had a very disappointing experience today at ASPEN Dental, Pleasant Valley Street at the Loop in Methuen, MA I have been a patient there and had a partial done 4 yrs ago. Haven't experienced any problem til now where something was rubbing against my tongue causing it to get scratched. The bottom of the denture just needed to be filed down a bit so I went in. The receptionist informed me that I would need a whole exam since I hadn't been there in awhile. I didn't want an exam...I just wanted a filing done which would have maybe taken 5 minutes in and out. Well I was then told that whether I had the exam or not I would have been charged $100 for the adjustment they would make......I was shocked after spending hundreds on the partial they would charge me $100. What happened to patient concern? Everyone is in it for the money....I will never go back to Aspen Dental again. I typically do not write these reviews, but people should know how poorly the office handled my wisdom tooth extraction. I went back to the office twice after my extraction, in severe pain, and both times the dentist put a little numbing cream on me and sent me home. I finally ended up calling Gentle Dental in Methuen. I went to this office for several years as it was close to my work and also the only one that is in network for my DMO insurance. I can't believe I tolerated them for years as the front end staff is rude and they scam you into getting services you don't need. They flat out tell you "You're being treated for what you need, not what your insurance covers." They make me get perio maintenance even though it's not covered by my insurance at all (and tricked me into thinking that I am) and when I asked to just get regular cleaning (covered by my insurance) they said I could not because it's not on my treatment plan. I found out from my dental insurance plan that they only pay them $17 for regular cleaning, so I see that by telling me that I need perio maintenance treatment they can make much more money (close to $200 each treatment including all the "extras", like irrigation and fluoride). I think the so called "perio maintenance" cleanings are no different from regular cleanings anyways. Stay away from this place! I'm getting a better insurance plan and ditching this place for good next year. Open enrollment can't come soon enough. read more

Please DO NOT go to Aspen Dental. They lure in customers with "cheap cleanings" and then won't do cleanings if they "find any issues" (even if they aren't legitimate issues) and pressure their customers into getting expensive procedures. They told me I had periodontal disease and pressured me into getting a deep cleaning (for only half of my teeth.. they were going to make me come back to do the other half) which was extremely expensive. They also tried to sell me a $160 tooth brush saying "I really needed it for proper care" as well as $67 toothpaste & rinse. I felt like I was at a used car dealership. They also misdiagnosed me on how many fillings I needed (which I confirmed later at my family's dentist). Feeling pressured (and trusting what I thought were medical professionals), I got the deep cleaning for the first half of my mouth... after the whole procedure, I felt pretty uncomfortable, like I was unsure if I really needed that procedure to begin with (they did all of it the same day as my consultation and rushed me into an "open slot right now"). I voiced some hesitation to the receptionist after the whole procedure was done, and she responded very condescendingly (as if I was a total idiot for feeling uncomfortable with everything that just happened). I ended up going to another dentist who confirmed I DID NOT in fact have periodontal disease. I confronted them later and asked for a refund for the treatment that I had not needed, and they refused. Needless to say, it was a horrible experience. Please don't do this to yourself for the "cheap cleaning." Just go somewhere you know and trust. read more

I wish there was a - start button because I'd be hitting it ... Thanks but no thanks...Aspen Dental in Methuen Ma are highway robbers... I will NEVER step foot in Methuen office again. The website states dentures for as low as 399.00 for top or bottoms. It also states you will have your dentures in a few days.If you are put on hold it also says you can have your dentures in just a few days... I am heart broken and deactivated after 3 1/2 weeks of back and forth I would be told we are going to the next step and I when get there for another appointment, they would tell me there was something wrong with the bottom impressions and they needed to redo them again. In one visit the tech tried 6 times to take a impression on my buttons. Yes 6 times in one sitting ! and could not get them right. Finally she told me I could go. I got a call a few days later and said to come back in. I went in and I was told the bottom impression wasn't right and it needed to be redone AGAIN !!! This happened to me 4 times just trying to bottom impressions. Last week it was 3 1/2 weeks scene I first went and still they were not even close to having them ready. I was there having yet another bottom impression. When I was done the finance lady who is very ignorant & rude told me to sit, like I was a dog and she was giving me a command ! She said "we" have to redo the financing because the cost has change it more money now." When I asked her why, what changed? She got very defensive and really couldn't explain why it was costing more. She got extremely loud even that people in the waiting room heard her. After she danced around my questions and never gave me an answer she simply said "You now need to put $1,500.00 down on your credit card. Do you have it with you today? Then you can finance the remaining $1,500.00" When I question her again why it went up over double she just didn't have an answer to my question. Then I said "You know what? Cancel everything put my money back on my card and I am out of here. You just keep jacking up the price everytime I come in and you do nothing each visit except take impressions over & over of my bottoms. What happened to the $399.00 denture?" She shook her head & in a very nasty tone said " Those denture are offered to people without insurance & are only guaranteed for 6 months." So I asked her what happened to having them in a few days? Very loud she said "No, you were never told that ! Every office has different policies and we don't have that kind of guarantee" I insisted she gave me a print out of what she had in front of her to see just what she was billing. She looked shocked and didn't know what to do. She did print it. When I got home I looked at it. I was in shock she was billing $250.00 for a tooth extraction that I never had and never planned on having. She was billing for a consultation for abstractioning a root left from many years that I told her I was fine with it because it hadn't bother me for 20 years. We discussed it the very first visit and I said no I don't need it. Plus she was billing for the particles & the new patient exam that I was told would be free over the phone. She said the bill went up because I now want a apartical and that cost more. Ok fine but why am I being charged for both a tooth extraction, a root consultation ( that I never had & a particle ? She tried to take back the paper but I had it in my hand. So long story short my the loan went up 2 times more. Really ??? Thanks but I will taken my business some where else. I used to live in Salem NH, without any kind of dental insurance. One day I got a toothache. It got worse. I literally couldn't sleep, or even drink enough vodka to pass out it hurt so badly. (Note: don't do this. Throwing up with a toothache is a special kind of punishment.) The NEXT DAY I went in for my free x-rays and exam. They immediately identified the problem (broken wisdom tooth, infected) and gave me painkillers and antibiotics. I went in several days later to have it pulled. The tooth extraction was so quick I didn't believe the oral surgeon when he said it was out. SO MUCH BETTER! Then, toward the end of 2014, another wisdom tooth got infected. They took my insurance, took very little money from me, and fixed the problem with no muss or fuss. After-care instructions and supplies were given for free. 10/10 would recommend, especially for those without insurance. They offer CareCredit (which is dangerous, be warned!), payment plans, and even gave me advice on purchasing a discount plan (not an insurance plan). read more

I wish I could give this place negative stars! I was charged thousands for work I didn't need. But the big problem was when I went to get a routine filling done, and when the dentist drilled she hit a NERVE. The pain was intense! She gave me more Novocaine and said it would calm down. She made a follow up appointment within couple of days. And tried to fix it by drilling more! I had so much pain. I said I wanted my money back. (I'd paid over $800), but they refused, refusing to admit she did anything wrong. I said "I guess I'll have to call my lawyer" and left. I went to a different dentist who confirmed there was some damage, and said I needed a root canal to fix it. When they called Aspen to get my records, Aspen denied having me as a patient! They had done several sets of X-rays (that there probably was no need for), and somehow couldn't find any of them. My new dentist called several times with no luck. I didn't want to go through the hassle of court so I just let it go. All told, I paid Aspen about $7000, and had to pay the new dentist and endodontist for dental exams, X-rays, and a root canal, which cost me another $2300. This practice is unethical, money-grabbing, dishonest, incompetent... I reported them to the better business bureau and let it go at that. If you see this office, run, don't walk, the other way!!! read more

! CALLED ON FEB8 2021 to have my denture repairedi had a tooth fall out.They stated they could fix it while i waited.They advertise that most repairs 79 dollars. I have only had my initial visit; however, the staff was very friendly and informative. Unfortunately I was not impressed by the waiting periods. I was there about 15 minutes before my appointment time and wasn't given the forms to fill until the 15 minutes passed. Then they barely gave me time to complete them. I agree with Claudia- Do NOT ever use Aspen Dental. Period. They are nothing but used car salesman. It is all about profit - your mouth is their meal ticket and they will make sure to take you for as much money as they can squeeze out of you. I was refused a cleaning unless I paid $500 for a "necessary" gum treatment. The treatment actually costs $1000, but with my insurance its less. There was also other "necessary" treatments printed on a contract that I had to sign. After an hour and a half at the Methuen location, I was refused what I had come there for. I am an adult, since when can I not make my own decisions about treatment? Suggestions for treatment are welcomed and considered- but to be forced into them? By the way, I stormed out of the office and went somewhere else for a second opinion (and a cleaning). I explained what Aspen did, and the dentist did not agree that I need any other treatment on my mouth at this time. They were happy with the way I care for my teeth/gums and said come back in 6 months for your next cleaning. I complained to Aspen Corporate and two days later got a call from the office manager, the one who refused me treatment unless I pay for the unnecessary treatment, and she offered that same service for half the quoted price- yep, apparently they bargain like used car salesmen. read more
