I made a appointment to the Middletown ny for cosmetic work. The representative stated I can bring my dental insurance the day of the appointment I also explained to her that I will be paying out of pocket since I know the job is pricey and my insurance will not cover it. She said OK no problem. A day or 2 before the appointment I'm getting various calls while am at work asking for my insurance information, I told the representative (heather, apparently also the manager ) I don't have it with me and she said my appointment will be canceled and I might have to pay $200 for a consultation. Out of frustration I said "cancel it " Well I had already requested a day off for the day of the appointment so I still went in (with my insurance info) just to check and they said they canceled my appointment because I REFUSED to provide my insurance when they called me lol So disappointing! A lot of miscommunication. I did not get no work done so idk the quality of the work. Today being my third disappointment with Aspen Dental, it is time to write a review. First, when I had a tooth pulled in 2020, the doctor's attitude was a bit snippy. When I asked if that was the only choice - logical question, right? - his answer was flippant: "I won't say it again". Second, I had an appointment for my regular checkup and cleaning back in April 2023. A couple of days before my appointment, I received a strange phone call supposedly from Aspen Dental and asking me to come in sooner than scheduled. The tone was odd and unprofessional. I could not go and I am glad I didn't. Two days later, Aspen had their major cyberattack. Their phones and website were down completely for weeks. I had to wonder if the strange phone call in April was somehow related to the cyber attack. I waited couple of months thinking Aspen Dental would straighten out their problems, then I tried to reschedule. They said they would not book me for at least two more months because they were only taking emergencies. I asked them to call me when I could make an appointment. They never did, so in the fall I tried again with the same result. Both times, the tone was rude. Third, now I need an appointment for a broken tooth, so I decided to see if they have improved at all. I was able to make an appointment, but even though they have my records, they will call me a new patient because I have not been there for two years and they insist on doing full x-rays and exam before they treat my broken tooth. So they will not treat my tooth the same day and I will have to suffer with it until I can get another appointment. I canceled my appointment and I will not go back. Also, this Aspen Dental does not participate in the company's Dental Plan; I wanted to buy into it because I don't have insurance. The dentist and dental hygienist that took care of me were absolutely amazing, professional, kind, and thorough throughout my visit. Unfortunately, the experience was let down quite a bit by the reception staff, who were less than friendly and seemed to lack presence. It's disappointing since they are the first faces you see when you walk in, and that initial interaction sets the tone for the visit. This place is a very pretty packaged rip off. They get you in there and show you all their equipment giving you your free radiation intensified, x-rays surrounding your whole head with radiation and a 3-D image of your teeth. Then some dentist who looks like he's just at a dental school rushes in and talks to you for about three minutes and then runs out the door. You don't get a chance to ask questions but you do get a four page Itemized bill of what they would like to do to you which is basically in the line of several thousand dollars to clean your teeth even though the dentist said you had no cavities‍ the shame of this place is it probably has decent dentistry, but they just take a very human void way of dealing with people and scaring you with pages and pages of treatments that you don't need. Office experience - very long waits, 1 hour in lobby, 2+ hours in patient areas with very long waits between steps. Quality of care - very uncomfortable with Dentist pressing his belly against my head throughout exam, did not feel dr listened to my Priorities or concerns, he pushed for work he seemed to want to do. Office experience- after 3 hours, met with business office who pushed me within 2 minutes to get financing for $8k plan with no line item review of treatments/expenses or options to treatment plan. I went to Aspen Dental for an implant to replace one tooth, so when they started pulling my teeth, I was not surprised and foolishly made the assumption that I was getting more than one implant. What surprised me was the presentation of dentures. There was no conversation or communication with the dentist performing the work as to what was actually going to be done or what was being done. Last update....... After speaking with Aspen Dental's customer advocacy team, I expected a call back from the Director, Justin Ruger, the Regional Managers supervisor. As is their protocol, I did not receive a call back as avoidance seems to be their go to move. I have filed a formal complaint for a HIPPA violation with the NYDHHS and will publicly advocate against Aspen Dental and their practices. Make sure you read every YELP and Google review of before you go to Aspen Dental. I read them and ignored the guidance and learned the hard way. Dr. Mohammed is a wonderful dentist...kind, personable, and pain-free. The issue is trying to book an appointment. I was a regular patient who developed a dental condition that was causing me pain. When I tried to make an appointment to be seen, Heather (from the office) told me that it would be a 2-3 month wait for an appointment. When I said that I was in pain and needed to come in sooner, she snippily replied, "Well, maybe you shouldn't have waited until you were in 'excruciating agony' to do something about it." (!!!) I had been in only six months previously, but sometimes emergencies happen! The only way to get a dental x-ray is to show up at 8:00 o'clock in the morning, where...if there is time...the staff will sometimes take the first couple of people who show up on an emergency basis. If you are not seen, then you are expected to keep trying, first thing every morning. Otherwise, again, there is a wait of a few months, no exceptions. Heather said that several dentists that were employed by Aspen Dental quit, so Dr. Mohammed is now working alone. It appears that the practice is either hopelessly overbooked, poorly managed, or both. In any event, I am not willing to accommodate an expectation that I will wait for months, in pain...nor will I tolerate being spoken to so rudely by Aspen Dental office staff. I will miss Dr. Mohammed, but I am now being seen by another practice in the area...one that promptly made an appointment for me to be examined and x-rayed, and that developed a timely treatment plan to address my dental condition. read more

Is there a zero star?!!! So devastated! In 2016 I had to get a root canal followed by a crown, on a front tooth. The crown came off that night! I have had issues with the crown ever since. In July I went in because the crown was loose, there wasn't enough material left to work with so the dentist said he would cement it (he informed me it wasn't a permanent solution) and told me I would need an implant. I am currently receiving unemployment thanks to Covid 19 and cannot afford to pay out of pocket so I am up the creek! I do have MetLife Dental but I guess they don't cover implants. The crown came out today, I called the office, only one doctor is in today so they couldn't see me today but they would call back to schedule an appointment. The call back was - "you need an implant we're not going to cement the crown. You can go to Contemporary Dental Implants" - I cant believe it! This crown wasn't done right from the beginning and now they are tossing me away with a front tooth missing!! Do not go to Aspen Dental it is definitely a factory!! The office staff is horribly rude and not very informative. My husband needed dentures and they told us that we need to get 60% of the bill to get started. They said we could set up a payment plan. They did not say that they needed 100% of the cost before they would begin the actual denture part of the process. I took off work and was trying to understand politely what happened. They told me I should have set up a payment plan weeks ago with an outside party and insisted that they had been very diligent about telling us everything. When my mother finally paid the remainder of the bill so he could finally be free from pain, they did not reimburse her for the amount the insurance sent to them as an overpayment, even after they were contacted and they promised we would see it in 4-7 business days. My husband had an appointment to fix the whole in his tooth I previously spoke to them twice one the phone asking if the took his insurance and they said they would call me later in the day YESTERDAY. I called in advance to schedule a cleaning and told the operator that I already had x-rays from my prior dentistry and was only coming here because the appointments were too far off, he said we have an available slot 2 days from now. I show up to the appointment and am met with a disingenuous desk clerk, first she says that I would have had to have the x-rays taken TODAY because the cleaning would be today, but there is no hygienist on site, and no appointments for weeks out. So i told her this makes no sense, why would i take x-rays which I already have, and I can just furnish them within those 3 weeks? then she changes her story and says the dentist here needs his own X-rays after she started realizing i was not interested in taking x rays there, it was just a nasty opportunistic experience. I have been a patient here for a couple of years now but will start looking for a more traditional dentist office. This is a factory and you never know who will be working on you which is something I really don't like. I have had like 3 or 4 hygienists in the past couple years so maybe this is like the training ground until they find a better office? Regardless, it's not cool to see new faces all around every six months. It's like dental care when I was in the military and that is NOT something they should strive for... Needed to schedule an appointment for Saturday and only opening was in Middletown so I went ahead and told them i didn't mind driving. This was on Thursday. Anyway drove 25 minutes just to be told I never replied to a call that they made to a number I never gave them , never to my cell phone which I did give them as the better number to contact. Dr. Mohammad puts on an act of being nice and sincere. I should have left this practice when I saw people screaming at the receptionists what liars they and the rest of the dental staff were for promising things that they had no intention of fulfilling! Dr.M said he could do implants on me and when I was discussing this with a dentist or hygienist(don't remember which) they said that they don't do that kind of implant. It's unfortunate that there is not a "0" star option. I've been going to Aspen Dental in Middletown for way too long and merely due to location convince. On too many occasions, I've had confirmed appointments and upon arrival, I've been turned away and not seen claiming the appointment had been changed, the doctor wasn't in, or it was the wrong day. Never had any of these excuses been the case. Today was the last straw. After 3 text reminders from the office over the last week, and me replying confirm, I show up for my 12:15pm appointment at 12:10 only to be told that my appointment was for 11:15am and I would have to reschedule. The office manager never asked to see my reminder messages and insisted I the appointment was never changed and had been and hour earlier. She spoke to me as if I was the problem after I understandably was frustrated from this office's repeat offense. She also spoke as if she was talking to a child and suggested I be removed from the practice for language used while in a personal call on my own phone. The threat of having me removed from the practice was the last straw. I loose nothing by not returning to Aspen Dental and I agree, I shall never return, nor will the rest of my family. The lack of respect for patient's time is unacceptable. The fact that the dentist didn't have the decency to face his patient and attempt to rectify the mishap on their part speaks volumes about the practice that is being conducted there. read more

i only post reviews about really good, or really bad experiences. well, this one wasn't great. i had a root canal done by the military, and sure enough, 6 month later-pain, the tooth reacts to tempe and pressure. got a referral to Aspen Dental. Show up, speak to the doctor (a friendly fella), who looks at my xrays and says "your sinuses go through there, its pr a sinus infection. Also, you need a deep cleaning. We'll put you on antibiotics for 2 weeks". 2 weeks go by, still hurts exactly the same. I call the office, the receptionist answers, and says "i had a similar problem, the deep cleaning fixed it. thats what you need. Its not covered by your insurance but its only $700." I wasn't comfortable going to an office where a front desk girl decides i need to buy services. I went to a real specialist in Poughkeepsie. Took her 10 seconds after looking at my xrays to determine i had a root canal infection. So, if you want anything fixed-dont go to this place. Stay away, this place if a ripoff, even with a premium dental insurance they want you to pay. If they suggest credit care which is a credit card that you are applying for, they are looking to rip you off a couple of thousands. They will tell you that they do better than other dentist, but call your insurance and ask them about any procedure that they want to do and if it covered. Aspen Dental in Middletown, NY is the worst healthcare provider my family has ever experienced. On two occasions (why my wife went back for more poor service I have no idea) my wife was insulted, disrespected, belittled, embarrassed, injured and treated horribly. The first time she went in for a root canal. Apparently their oral surgery department sucks. They only have an oral surgeon once a month. Then once they have him booked they overload him with patients. As a result he provides horrible bedside manner. It appears that med school has not trained him in introducing one self and a basic explanation of the procedures at hand. He was also rude, condescending and rough. Against my better judgment my wife returned to get a crown. After I insisted that she has to at least submit a complaint to the office manager. She stated that she did and the office was receptive to her needs. So my wife gives them a second chance and she encounters a dental hygienist who shares the same lack of patient care and sensitivity as the oral surgeon. This hygienist preps her for the mold, but does not introduce herself, does not say good morning, sticks a needle in my wife's mouth with no explanation of what is about to happen. What ever happened to decency, to manners? This is not a free service. I not only have a high deductible plan, but I also pay for my insurance directly. This is not a free service, we are paying customers! Apparently they fail to realize this at Aspen dental. They are very rude all the way a round. I wish I could comment on the quality of care however I can't because I never got past the incredibly rude office management. I went in for a routine cleaning and after my xrays and my initial assessment, they told me I needed a little bit of scaling as well as a couple of porcelain fillings. I have a union insurance which they take as a ready took care of my husband. Instead of just telling me how much my service would be and booking my appointment she tried to upsell me on paying in advance for future cleanings in the same year, thereby utilizing my Dental allowance and forcing me to make a payment. I asked repeatedly why I should pre pay for services I am NOT receiving. I never received an answer. I was just told it would cost X amount of dollars. I just walked out... unbelievably rude person and Dr Muhammad was a very nice man. What a shame read more

Best dental clinic I've been to. And I hate dentists! Dr. Mohammed and staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

They never open the doors on time, normally when someone has an appointment at 9 am the doors will open at least 8:45 so if there are new patient you would think that they can give the patient time to fill out the paperwork, although I was not a new patient I still believe that when your appointment is for 9 am the doors should be opened at least 10 minutes earlier not at 9:10 or later. This is not the first time I've had this issue with them. Also the Manager Tom is so rude that includes all the other FRONT DESK staff. The woman that takes x-rays she's pretty ok when she's not in a bad mood. This is a factory and you never know who will be working on you. You can never get an appointment when you need one Tom always has some sort of an excuse. Wish I could be a mystery patient there, half of the staff should be either re-trained or let go. read more

I am usually not a business basher, but I need to put this out there. Aspen Dental in Middletown is a money making scheme. For fillings and cleanings it is great anything other than that they just want your money. They will not pull a tooth for me because they want me to have a root canal. I want it pulled. The difference is MONEY...They get $1000 for a root canal and $100 for a pull. They told me I was on a waiting list to see the specialist, 8 weeks on the list and I called my insurance company, no predetermination was sent to them, no appointment set. Within minutes I was called by Aspen to set up my appointment. OH yea, and $200 up front to set the appointment. I said, I just want it pulled, then I was told I needed a call back. I was then told they would not see me at all. What a joke. I have not been able to chew properly since the middle of June. read more
