They took x-rays and told me I had gum disease and needed a deep cleaning, plus 2 to 3 crowns, plus a cavity filled. I had them do one crown then got more doubtful of the diagnosis (had no symptoms of gum disease or a cavity). I had them send my x-rays to another dentist in town who found no problems with my teeth and gave me a regular cleaning. All is well except that that the one crown Seabreeze did put on causes me to bite my cheek even months later and after two attempts to file it down some. Also, it took the dentist there several attempts to numb my tooth when prepping it for the crown and I still felt pain.

I had 4…read morecavities filled in total, the first appointment I was left waiting for over an hour as the dentists were in and out of the room (attempting to fix my treatment plan) they had to reapply the topical anesthesia 3 separate times due to it wearing off each time. The filling took MAYBE 15-20 mins, mind you I was there for 2 hours... Once checking out they tried to charge me for TWO fillings because the dentist marked off an additional tooth that was NOT filled. Upon my second visit to take care of my 3 remaining fillings I had no complaints and commend the dentists for working with me and my anxiety due to the local anesthesia. HOWEVER a week later they are now sending me an urgent billing notice for an additional filling that wasn't DONE. Looking at my invoice they are trying to charge me for 5 fillings when I only had 4. I HIGHLY recommend keeping ALL receipts and physical paper work they give you or MAKE sure to request it!!!!

I had been experiencing jaw and tooth pain on a stay to our family retreat in St. Augustine (…read morebummer right?) I waited to see if the pain would subside, but it continued, so I googled dentists and found Dr. Daniel Haeussner on Yelp. Called and talked to Kara, who was so kind a welcoming and they fit me in the same day to see what was going on. Everything from their lovely office, to their friendly staff, to their service was top notch. Kim, my dental assistant, quickly put me at ease and assured we'd address what the issue is as she took X-rays and made me comfortable. Dr. Haeussner came in and let me know everything looked good in the X-ray. He asked if I had been stressed lately (who hasn't!? But my job has been very stressful lately) and thought I may be grinding my teeth. He asked if I had also been experiencing headaches, which last week I had terrible headaches, so much so I got a Covid test just to be sure! He did a bite test, and even when I thought there is no way this pain is coming from grinding, he was sweet and did another one just to ease my concerns. He recommended a warm compress and anti-inflammatory. I could not believe this was causing this sort of pain, so I was so relieved to hear the news! I thought for sure I needed emergency filling or root canal. My dad is a dentist in Michigan and so this was my first experience outside of family. Dr. Haeussner assured me there were no major concerns and I appreciated his honest, sincere compassion with the situation. Funny enough, we laughed how my dad is also named Daniel, and I saw the Dr. Dan of St. Augustine. Anyone who is looking for a dentist, look no further! I was told I needed a tooth pulled and then either a permanent bridge or an implant. Dr. Santiago…read moresaid he could do either one. I opted for an implant. So the tooth was pulled and a bone graft was put in its place. I had to wait 6 months before the implant could be installed. 6 months later I went in and was told I needed to have a special xray taken by a different dentist at a cost of $195. When the results of the xray were sent to Dr. Santiago, he told me he would have his receptionist call me the next day and set up an appointment for the implant. The next day the receptionist called and said that Dr. Santiago said I needed to call a certain dentist to have the implant finished. No explanation why even though he had already been paid for some of the work. He didn't have the courtesy to explain to me what the problem was and why he couldn't do it. I don't believe any doctor should treat a patient this way espcially when the cost of the procedure was so high. I would never recommend Dr. Santiago to a friend. EVER.

But probably the deal breaker was that for a routine check up after the dental part of the appt. we would've had to wait SIX MONTHS for a cleaning. We've NEVER run into this kind of arrangement in our collective 140 year experience. One explanation, we thought, was that they couldn't hire or retain enough dental hygienists. And why is that? Are there not enough dental hygienists in St. Augustine, or does the practice not pay them enough or otherwise provide a miserable working experience? Who knows, and really we don't care. We are tired with tolerating drama anywhere for whatever reason, so we're going back to our "old" dentist in Orlando. We got two appts. about 10 days out from contacting them. The appt. includes a cleaning.
