Had a tooth extracted at Aspen Dental...the proper amount of Novacaine was not initially given to me and pain was immediate. The person doing the extraction seemed very inexperienced and had a very difficult time removing my tooth. Three weeks later, I got out of bed and had excruciating pain in my face that brought me to the ground. Thought I was having a stroke! Went to the ER and they told me I had trigeminal neuralgia which is permanent nerve damage in my face. The pain came and went and was unbelievably horrible. I'm on seizure medication now to manage the seizures but will be on it for the rest of my life! I would seriously recommend never going to Aspen Dental for any dental care and to go to an experienced highly recommended oral surgeon!!! read more

Went in for a cleaning and they spent over an hour&1/2 doing anything but the cleaning... then they tell me I have periodontal disease after they made me watch a horrific video on periodontal disease while I waited. Now they tried upselling me and shaming me for having it. Which I don't!but after all that they told me I have to get the deepest cleaning....but couldn't do it that day and needed to come back! I went to Aspen Dental on Tamiami tr. in Venice, Florida . I went because they were advertising free X-rays and cleaning. I went because of a broken tooth. the Dr. insisted that I needed a root canal and crown. they did the X-rays and then said that I needed a deep cleaning so I agreed. two thousand dollars out of pocket because I didn't have insurance. I went this morning to have my teeth cleaned but was told they had to do another cleaning below the gum line. they did not offer me a above the gum general cleaning and wanted me to pay for another type of below the gum cleaning. I am beyond disgusted and disturbed with the way Aspen Dental runs their business! My son who is currently away from home attending college in Florida went into the Venice office for a cavity/filling consult and was told he would definitely need a root canal to fix his problem. Knowing that my son was coming home for Christmas 3 weeks later I told him to see his NY dentist and get a second opinion. He filled out the proper forms to request that the x-ray and the dentist's notes and recommendations be forwarded to his dentist in New York State. He was told that it would be 7 to 10 business days to complete that task. It is now been over 20 business days, and the documentation never arrived. His dentist in New York State performed his own exam and x-rays, and determined that a root canal was the furthest thing from what he needed. He simply needed a filling and nothing more. Stay away from Aspen Dental. Their dentists are either highly incompetent or they are up selling their services over and above what is actually needed. My family will never go there again. read more

Pay attention to the bad reviews about this franchise, folks. If you want to spend far more for dental work than you should, this is the place for you. Most of the staff struggles with English; this makes it hard to communicate. Most of the work is done by hygenists not an actual dentist. They pressure you to buy things like a water pic flosser, then when unit fails to work they wont refund your money as they claim they are not a retailer (even tho they sell like a retailer) and they charge 3 times more than walmart. The membership is low and inviting but beware of the prices they charge for every service and product. This place is hyper expensive and I think they take the staff through a traning course on how to upsell the patient and intimidate. Take mine and everyone elses advise and find a dentist that is not part of a national franchise. It's a rip-off. read more

The dental treatment I've received at this Aspen office has been fine -- no complaints to this point. However, the administrative aspects of the Venice-Tamiami office leave a lot to be desired. I had a mix up on my billing so I called the office to discuss the matter. The phone rang, and rang and rang and never went to voice mail so I could not handle it over the phone. A few days later I stopped into the office to discuss it; after checking in with the receptionist I was left sitting in the waiting area for almost 20 minutes without anyone addressing me. Before I left I told the receptionist to please have someone call me about the billing errors. That was 2 days ago and no one has called. Finally, today I called the Aspen corporate customer service line and was able to get someone working on the issue. So clearly this is a local office issue, but one that causes me to question whether I want to continue to be a patient at this office. read more

This is the practice I selected when I moved here 18 months ago. So this is not a knee jerk review from one bad experience. First of all, this practice thinks nothing of rescheduling your appointment that you have had in place for months on a day's notice. I am not talking about the Covid situation - I fully understand why those appointments could not happen. Well before ANY shut downs, they rescheduled my daughter's appointment twice, and when I finally was able to make an updated one when they reopened, they rescheduled again. And AGAIN, until I put my foot down. They tried to reschedule mine this week as well. In fact, there is maybe one or two times that anyone in my family had an appointment that wasn't rescheduled. "We are down a hygienist" is always the reason given. Pretty sure the reason they kept rescheduling is because they thought that we were on an HMO plan and, not being a money maker, are expendable. We are not, and when I clarified this they were suddenly able to get us in. Beware if you are HMO. At my appointment this week, I waited 40 minutes to be rushed into the room and met with a hygienist who clearly only wanted to get me out of there as fast as possible. She literally raced through the cleaning, not bothering to even hold the suction for me or ask me to hold it - just left it hanging on my cheek and knocking it around everywhere. The tool sprayed water all over my face and clothes, and she was careless enough to cause some pretty bad nerve pain. I have had many cleanings at many places over the years, and this was the absolute worst experience I have ever had. And... watch what you are billed for. Twice now, charges have appeared for services that we did not OK and that we did not even get. If I were not very aware of exactly what is / isn't covered and what treatments are done ... I wouldn't know I didn't owe what was on the account. They removed both charges but the point is that it shouldn't happen at all let alone twice in 6 months. They continuously try to give us fluoride treatments that our insurance doesn't cover and that I have to make sure I tell them NOT to give me. I'm done here. I don't trust them to keep appointments, to bill correctly, (see below), and now I have no faith in the actual cleanings. read more

I had a great experience with Aspen and I would recommend them to anyone. The staff is wonderful, from the desk to the doc. Nadia and Brittany are friendly, helpful and efficient which are the hallmarks of a great scheduling department. Sara is an awesome gatekeeper and imaging technician, for many people this is their first visit to a dentist in years. She will make you feel welcomed and forget the word shame. Marie is patient, compassionate & gentle and I would gladly put myself under her care again. The Hygienist Thanti is highly skilled and about the patient's comfort. Dr. Grigoryan is great at his craft and very accommodating. I went in for a filling appointment thinking I was getting two and my next appointment was a cleaning. I went to Aspen Dental yesterday for back to back root canal and oral surgery. It was a big day for me and everything went well. Everyone was so polite and concerned about how I was doing. I have to wait eight weeks for my surgery to heal before getting my crown. I dreaded this Christmas season without my upper front tooth. Dr. Grigoryan surprised me by making me a temporary crown so I would have a tooth for Christmas. I'm so grateful to him. CAREFUL, they 'stole' my exam & Xray benefit. They will not clean my teeth (which IS covered by my insurance) because they claim I MUST get the periodontal cleaning at $1081.00. I have no bleeding when brushing now and have not had a cleaning since March 2019. Seems like even a basic cleaning is in order. I need time to save up for the more expensive procedure. Isn't it better to at least clean my teeth now until I can pay myself for the perio cleaning? BTW, an internet search reveals I should expect to pay $300 to $500 for a perio cleaning. Dental Hygienist was rough (not gentle) on my mouth. I did not like the cleaning experience what-so-ever. I felt like I was just another mouth coming down the assembly line and the Hygienist was just getting her job done and ready for the next set of teeth. No patient concern or care for me or my mouth what-so-ever. If you want to feel like a piece of meat on the assembly line, get an appointment with this Hygienist. Next, they gave me an estimate for a crown that I need. They are telling me my out-of-pocket cost would be about $535. I thought that was a very high estimate compared to a new crown I had put on a different tooth (from a different dentist) in Feb-2016. My out-of-pocket cost for that crown was only $350. Seems a bit of an over-charge to me. Last, their front office staff could not even figure my insurance and deductible. This was especially frustrating since I phoned in my 2017 updated insurance to their front office 3 days prior to the visit so they could run it in advance and I would not have any issues at time of check out. Boy that sure didn't work out. I don't think their office staff has a clue what to do with insurance and they could not answer any questions I asked of them regarding my billing. It took me over 30 minutes just to check out. I have already found a new dentist. I will not be going back to Aspen Dental in Venice, FL. Mark me not satisfied and moving on. read more

I am new to the area and went to Aspen Dental as a new patient. Everyone was extremely pleasant and very professional. I appreciated the time they spent with me. I met with Hibi, Rathi Dr. Grigoryan and Lana. I was given a plan for treatment and everything they mentioned, I have heard before so it was no surprise. I was able to get back in for treatment within a few days. I am hopeful that the hygienist will be able to do a nice "gentle" cleaning when I return and am without novocaine. read more

The customer service here is terrible. For example, they'll say you have an appointment at 11:00 and then make you sit in the lobby for an hour. Basically if you have an appointment here show up about 30-45 minutes late. This has happened multiple times. Very frustrating. Today I got here at 11:00 for my 11:00 appointment. "Buyers Beware!" I took my college age son to this location while he was on spring break for a routine exam. I wanted him to get this exam before he lost his insurance under our plan. I knew our insurance only paid 40% of all treatment. I did not disclose we had insurance at the time because I was unsure if he was still covered. The free exam drew us to go to Aspen Dental. They practice the bait-and-switch. Was told my son had gingivitis (for which they had an onsite Hygienist) 17 cavities, and needed a root canal. My son has never had any tooth aches to indicate a need for a root canal. We was told that the cost would be over $7000.00!!!!! I told them that he did not live here in Florida and I wanted to start the process and transfer to Aspen Dental in Ohio where my son attends college. At that point I was told if I went to another Aspen Dental they may not find as many cavities they discovered. "That sent up red flags." We was sent out to talk to a lady that told us it would be better to have his work done there and offered financing. I told her I didn't want any financing and we had the cash but I wanted to check with our insurance first. I left and told my son we needed a second opinion. Searched the Internet and found a dentist in Ohio who had excellent reviews, Bryan Dodd Dental Beavercreek, Ohio. My son went to him today had X-rays and cleaning. Was told he did not have any new cavities, needed to fill two previous cavities and needed a thorough cleaning to remove stains. The total to do this work $956.00!!!! I'm so glad I followed my instincts, and had a second opinion. Saved me $6000.00!!!!! Shame on you Aspen Dental!!!!! read more

Darlene the hygienist was very gentle and very informative on proper hygiene for keeping my mouth happy and healthy. Darlene was also very personable and compassionate about my dental care. Dr.Grigoryan was fantastic, he could not have been more gentle while doing my dental exam. Dr.Grigoryan was also very informative on what steps I should take to get my teeth happy and healthy again! It's really unbelievable. I lost a cap on my tooth last FEBRUARY and couldn't get an appointment until today in late September. Then they did NOTHING but x-rays and told me I needed to come back 3 more times, but I"M MOVING. I made this appointment to FINALLY get this taken care of. And I have been a patient there for years. THis happens time and time again. They are pitifully understaffed, and unsympathetic to PAIN!! I am moving next month so I'm just stuck with my problems. To make matters even more dismal, my fiance had new dentures at an exorbitant cost put in last year -- then he DIED shortly thereafter. I was still responsible for THOUSANDS of dollars to pay off the large loan we had taken out to pay for them. They just don't give a s**t! read more

Rip off...strip mall hacks. Malpractice to say the least. Typical aspen BS of being overprocedured. Told my spouse a tooth needed pulled and an implant was needed. Saw another dentist and sent records/x-rays to a third out of state--both said no way...can't do the implant as it will go into the sinus cavity. Can't get a cleaning as every patient has life threatening infection and requires SRP and tons of extras and they won't let you refuse any part of the treatment despite most not being covered by insurance. Two other dentists call it all BS. File a formal complaint with the state so we can stop this. read more

I had an incredible experience with Aspen Dental. I have been avoiding going to the dentist for years because.. well I just never liked going to the dentist. From the moment I walked in forgot why I ever felt that way about going to the dentist. Nadia was very polite and inviting as she got me checked in. Hibi was great getting my x-rays done. She was very efficient and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. When it came time for the full check up Rathi and Dr. Grigoryan were great. They were friendly and informative. They laid out a great plan to get my dental health were it needs to be. As I was walking out of the room and was headed back to the front to check out I thought this was the most pleasant dentist appointment of my life I can't believe I avoided this for so long. Over the past year I have been planning and saving to start the long process of fixing my teeth from damage caused over the years during my addiction. Last night I was sent to an emergency dentist as my back tooth nerve was dying and I needed it to be extracted immediately. After calling a few dentists I was able to get in at Aspen Dental near my home. The staff was amazing and caring as I was crying like a baby in pain. Once they were able to remove the tooth, they went over a game plan for my whole mouth! Although I was planning on starting this process in January I am beyond excited that it has already started. Over the next year I will be working on the smile I used to have and I cannot express the words I have. No more closed smiles for me here soon!!
