After doing extensive research on lodging options in Juneau, I truly believe Aspen Suites Hotel stands out as the best choice in the area. The location is incredibly convenient--just minutes from the Juneau International Airport and with easy access to all the main roads. Whether you're coming in for sightseeing, business, or outdoor activities, this hotel serves as a perfect hub. We drove by the Super 8 and the Wyndham Travel Lodge and each looked sketchy. Juneau doesn't have a wide selection of hotels, and Aspen Suites clearly sets itself apart. It was, by far, the cleanest and friendliest property we encountered. The rooms are well-maintained, and the staff does an excellent job keeping everything spotless. One of the big advantages is that the hotel offers air conditioning--something not all places in Juneau have, which can be a big plus during the warmer months. Also the Kitchenette allowed us to shop for food and save on "eating out". The hotel also features a large, clean, and well-equipped laundry room, which is incredibly useful if you're on an extended trip or coming back from Alaskan adventures in need of fresh clothes. The front desk staff was helpful and courteous, and while the building has three floors, there are elevators and multiple luggage carts available to make check-in and check-out smooth and efficient. If you're visiting Juneau, I highly recommend considering a suite at Aspen. The extra space and amenities make a big difference, especially after a day of exploring. Had a great stay at Aspen Suites! We were there for 10 days and enjoyed our experience. Comfortable beds, soft towels, and kind staff. We especially loved having a small kitchen for our breakfasts and a few lunches, and also appreciated having a little couch for some evening TV time after our daytime adventures. Everything seemed very clean and well-maintained. The only negative (and it wasn't a huge deal to us) was we didn't get our weekly housekeeping visit. But we asked the housekeepers for fresh towels and had them empty our trash cans, and we were fine. Would definitely stay there again! read more

Very nice rooms, with a small kitchen, full refrigerator, cook ware, soap, kitchen towels, dishes, dish rack are all included. If you need to leave early and have to check out before the office opens, they tell you to throw the key inside the locked gate and they will check you out. Odd... but it worked. We traveled with another couple to Alaska early in September. We stayed at Aspen Suites in Sitka first and it was a great experience. Based on that stay, we traveled to Juneau to stay in the Aspen Suites there. When we arrived we found out that there was no shuttle to the airport. We had been told there was a shuttle as had other couples that were registering. Then, there was a problem with the bill. It had been paid previous to our arrival and they said they could not provide us with a receipt. The really bad part came when the couple we were traveling with entered their room and found that it had not been cleaned. There were dirty dishes in the sink and the room was dirty. They asked for another room which they were given. However, the money charged to the credit card increased by about $400--equivelent to 2 nights in a room. We assumed that they made a mistake and forgot to remove the charge for the dirty room. When the couple, who had made the arrangements called, they were told that there had been no mistake and that it should have been taken care of while we were there. We tried! They did nothing! The people at the desk (3 of them) were so unhelpful and didn't seem to know what was going on. It was a horrible experience and we will not stay at Aspen Suites again. If visiting Juneau, go to Grandma's Feather Bed. It sounds like they are much more accomodating for guests. Avoid Aspen Suites at all cost. read more

When I visit Juneau I generally stay here in part for the convenience of it being close to the airport but mostly because the rooms are always clean. I've stayed at most places here in Juneau and for the money I prefer to stay here. They don't have a restaurant or free breakfasts, it's just the value of a clean comfortable room with a kitchenette. It's ok. But for a place that is made for extended stays, they were not very well stocked. No extra toilet paper roll. There was only one fork. No dishwasher. And no shower curtain. When I called about that, I was just told to come get one at the front desk. When I went down to the front desk no one was there, but the shower curtain was on the counter. Strange! The bathroom door is a "door" in name only. No privacy. Rooms are only cleaned once a week. So much work for the guests to get supplies. Customer service was not great. Also not a good location for doing things downtown. It is good if you want to be near the airport. But there are no food options in walking distance (and no breakfast in the hotel). When we come back to the area we will not stay here. read more

The hotel was nice and clean. But the staff was never at the front desk, they did not keep change for the washing machines, they could not figure out how to print my receipt, the wifi was down the whole visit and the TV remote did not work. Furthermore, when asked about clearing up these deficiencies, they did not seem to care, did not help and just giggled about it. Great location, sub standard help. July 28-30th we stayed for 2 nights - conveniently located about 5-10min from the airport. Next to Glacier highway & Egan road. Your closely located to Fred Meyer groceries, plenty of convenient stores, and it's easy access to downtown Juneau. I'll include a video of our 3rd floor room 306 room. Which has 2 beds and you can see the mountain which we are facing the front entrance. Pros: location, price, kitchen included w/plates & silver wear, fridge. Clean, you don't hear the highway traffic, front desk answered promptly to my questions, and majority of people who stay here are either armed forces or regular travelers like myself. Cons: -you can only get clean towels during regular pick up days (don't know when that is since we stayed 2 nights so we're able to ration all towels in the bathroom easily) but you can ask for more. - Friday night we had some fire alarm go off and the front desk didn't alert anyone to either stay indoors or go outside. Nor did they say it was a false alarm! We all stuck our heads out the hallway an asked did anyone smell anything. Answer was no so we stayed indoors. Some went out front, as we looked down at them from the window, and seen them walk back in once the alarm went off. 20 min later fire truck arrived. The 2 men walked in & 5 min later walked back out and drove off in there fire fighter truck. Guess it was a false alarm but the front desk didn't say anything to anyone who wasn't outside. Not many people went outside. -no breakfast This isn't a luxury hotel so just use this hotel for sleeping only & ease of location. Great pricing for where it's located so I'd recommend it. read more

We stayed here for 5 nights during our trip to Juneau. It's conveniently located by a grocery store, 10 min from downtown, and close to hiking. Wish we had known about the bus system earlier though- since there's a stop close to the hotel and it made travelling around a lot cheaper than cabbing. The room was clean, large, and had a full kitchen. I was even surprised that the dishes were really clean. There's a 24 hr gym, although pretty tiny, free coffee downstairs, and great views of the mountains. Only negative: the pillows were super lumpy, not like the nice fluffy hotel pillows. One of the better places to stay in Juneau, AK. I spent a week in Juneau recently for work, and this has to be the best hotel I have stayed at to date. The great staff did a great job checking me in (early at that) and made sure everything was clean and comfortable by calling my room a short time later. Additionally, the gym was spotless consisting of a weight machine, treadmill, and elliptical all facing a TV (allowing to watch the news and stay engaged while working out). The hotel overall stayed quiet, and was very clean throughout my time there (no smoking smells). The proximity to the airport is perfect as well with dropping off your bags, as well as catching a flight back home. I will be sure to stay there during my next trip, and recommend it to anyone going for pleasure or work. Keep up the great work Aspen Hotel. read more

I head to Juneau every month for work. The city has few good places to stay and I have had some creepy nights at some of the places downtown. Pros: The Aspen Suites is newish, which means the beds are newish and the construction is pretty solid (hot showers, clean, etc.). It's close to the airport, but I've never been bothered by airport noise. A full-size refrigerator and freezer with a Fred Meyer across the street keep me way under my per diem. Decent desk to work at in the room. Coffee is free in the lobby all day (with small machine in room as well). Cons: No breakfast, only clean rooms once per week, in a more industrial neighborhood so few walkable options for food. read more

We stayed for a night before going on a hike to Mendenhall glacier. We walked from the airport in ~10 minutes, although there was about 1 minute of walking on the shoulder of a large-ish road. The hotel itself is fine, clean enough and with heavy shades to block out the sun at night. The biggest downside was the carpet around the bed, which I think was clean but did not inspire confidence. There were a few stains on the comforter as well. The bathroom was roomy and spotless. Finding food after 9pm is tough and after 10pm nearly impossible, but there is a supermarket a couple of blocks away open 9am-9pm. read more

I booked a non-refundable rate for 4 nights, 11 months out. Mind you I never book non-refundable rooms, but it was late at night, it was not clearly disclosed and I made a mistake. As a business owner myself, I realize mistakes happen and this is usually an opportunity - for those with proper business practices - to provide good customer service. However the experience I had with this hotel was the exact opposite. Upon discovering my mistake, literally the next day, I attempted to contact the hotel. I heard nothing back. Between emails and my phone calls, it took more than a week before I got to talk to the Manager, only for her to basically tell me it's my problem and she can't help me. To make matters worse, she was dishonest and tried to tell me that she can't do anything because I need to contact the site I booked through, but upon contacting them - they reached out to her and she remained in her refusal. I contacted this hotel before anything was ever charged, and when all parties know full well that in the next 11 months, they will book this room 20 times over; I didn't even ask for a refund, as I didn't wait for a charge before contacting them(now, 12 days later it was also charged to my account). I simply asked to allow me to cancel and waive the penalty, which is FULL penalty, all 4 nights. Basically, this hotel now wants me to pay for my entire stay, which was supposed to be 11 months away, despite the fact no services have been provided as of yet nor will they, despite the fact I explained that it was an honest mistake, despite the fact I contacted them ASAP and didn't wait till next year, despite the fact I explained my wife has over 20 medical diagnoses and so we never chance it with non-refundable bookings, because we have to be flexible...no common courtesy, no empathy whatsoever. Stay away from this place. If you care about your money, if you care about being treated like you are a human being, not just another $ bill for them, if you want kindness and not rudeness, if you want understanding, if you want proper, not shady business practices, simply stay away. read more

Very poor customer service, my sister got a quote for $120, they ended up charging us $169 a night. We were in town for my father's funeral. The general manager would not change the rate even after explaining to her the situation. Even called the people that were higher up, so far have not got a call back to make it right. Economy hotel at a full-service price. Not very impressed with the fact that you don't get any housekeeping service more than once a week. That means no replenishment of supplies either. And if you want new towels? You have to bring your dirty towels up to the front desk and ask for an exchange. At least they have free coffee in the lobby. The beds were uncomfortable and the room was very noisy on the south side when the wind is blowing. Even worse, the room could not seem to keep a level temperature. Even 70° with a 45° exterior, the heater was on almost all night. Freezer ran all night too, although it was nice to have a full kitchen. Weird that there is no latch or lock on the bathroom door. read more

Very good hotel. Very quiet and very relaxing. It's far enough from downtown that you don't have to worry about the craziness, but close enough that it's not a far drive. The customer service was great and helpful. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 is simply because there wasn't a pool and jacuzzi and a jacuzzi in Juneau would be nice. read more

Attempted to book a room for an employee. Was told there was no way to pay for a room, unless I FAXED in a completed credit card authorization form. I was traveling and this was not possible. This form was emailed to me. I asked if I could complete it and email it back. I was told they could send a PDF attachment but they could not receive them. This is simply ridiculous. I cannot pay over the phone, or send them my information to pay for an employee on short notice via email?? I will never use aspen again for business purposes and I recommend the same for all other businesses. read more

Great hotel and price. A lot of space for your money. The kitchen is great comes with dishes/silverware coffee cups/glasses pots/pans mixing bowls and cooking utensils. The fridge is full size with a full size freezer. Saves a lot of money on food/eating out. The bathroom is nice sized has a large closet to hang stuff. Includes a iron and board, hamper to use in the laundry facility they have and a hair dryer. The complimentary soaps and shampoo/conditioner smell great and work well. A lot of storage for long stays. Each room has couch/bed along with the amount of beds you need. A nice sized table to eat at. A coffee table. It's close to shopping and restaurants as it's right next to the glacier highway. Only a couple miles from the airport. Down fall is they only clean once a week but the do have a refuse room on each floor and you can also exchange towels at the front counter. I will definitely stay here again. read more

Our ideal place to stay in Juneau. Their prices are competitive and their rooms are nice. The entire hotel is in pretty new and updated shape. The toiletries are good enough to take home with you. I stayed here because it had the highest reviews on Kayak. I decided i should do a review because it came up short. 1st, they do not have daily room service. I asked for a room away from the main road, as it is a trucking road and has noise all night (we wanted to keep the window open). Not only did i not get a room that was on the road when i requested a change i got a really weird response... "I don't think we have anything available"... what does that mean? The front desk person never checked. Come on... when pushed they did "check" and said nope we don't. I got the impression they never really checked. When making the reservation, they really did not have a clue... i asked for a room with 2 double beds, they told me they did not have any... so i hung up and went to look else where, and i checked Kayak again... Kayak said they had rooms. So i called back, well weird thing is, while they did not have any rooms with 2 double beds, they had LOTS of rooms with 2 QUEEN beds... come on?? Really. In general the property is clean and neat, but the staff needs allot more training. They should also disclose they are trying to save money by not cleaning the rooms everyday, but they are one of the most expensive hotels in the area. read more
