Inside, there's a large multi-purpose room that welcomes guests and offers a nice stage for performances. Keep it on your radar if you're looking to fill your calendar and try something new. I've been here for several work conferences, art shows, and community events, and it always delivers. The space itself is open, light-filled, and flexible. It somehow works just as well for professional presentations as it does for creative exhibits and big cultural gatherings. There's this peaceful energy about it, like the space knows how to hold people and ideas and creativity all at once without being overwhelming. I've been to Great Salt Lake art events here that were honestly stunning. Local artists, thoughtful installations, and the kind of vibe where you run into people you know and leave feeling more connected. For work events, it's comfortable and professional but not stiff, which is exactly what you want when you're networking or presenting something important. It's the kind of place that adapts to what you need it to be. A thoughtful conference venue, a celebration space, an art gallery, a gathering place. Every time I've gone, I've left feeling like I got something out of it. Whether it was ideas, inspiration, or just a really good conversation in the hallway. I came in thinking I might just sip something bubbly and leave before midnight. Instead, I danced for four hours straight, made new friends, and now have a very blurry selfie that might become a family heirloom. The setting was gorgeous, by the way. Big open spaces, cool lighting, and just enough art and architecture to make you feel elevated while also clutching your clutch and screaming the lyrics to "Mr. Brightside." The vibe was party, but in a classy way. Like you could go full glam and not feel out of place, but also not feel judged if you kicked your heels off before midnight and went rogue on the dance floor. Which I did. No regrets. Would I go again? Already planning my outfit. 10 out of 10, would ring in the new year under a disco ball surrounded by Salt Lake's most unhinged and best-dressed again.

All of the levels and common areas had an abundance of space and tall ceilings! The stairs and elevators were close together and easy to navigate. The Children's Library on the downstairs level was adorable! It brandished childrens' artwork, play tables and many other fun ideas. We ventured through each level and then made our way to the rooftop which had a lot of seating and spectacular views of downtown SLC and its surroundings. The weather was perfect to stay up there and chat for an hour. We also visited the Library Bees- we didn't expect to find Langstroth hives inside a library. This is the coolest library I've been to in the US. If you love books and libraries this is a can't miss experience.

Spent some time in Temple Square when I was in town this week for a conference…read more I learned about the Restoration from statues on the grounds, entered the tabernacle to view the massive organ inside, and was impressed by the architecture of both the Assembly Hall and the Temple, which is currently closed for restorations till April 2027, after which it will be open to the general public for 6 months. Will be back, as I wasn't able to attend the noon choir during this trip.

It occupies five city blocks in downtown Salt Lake City with historic sites, exhibits, gardens, monuments and statues. The highlight of our visit was seeing the beautiful Tabernacle, an engineering marvel that needs no microphones. Its acoustic qualities are so perfect that you can literally hear a pin drop. Oh yeah, our tour guides demonstrated that amazing quality for us. Our guides were young Mormon sisters who walked us through the grounds and gardens and talked about the four statues spread around the property. Without a doubt, this is a "must see" if you ever visit Salt Lake City.

I thought it was best to purchase in person, just in case we were late and not knowing how the parking would effect our arrival. Luckily there was parking near there, but only paid $3.50 an hr to park, so might as well. I figured it may take us about an hour to explore Dreamscapes. I saw the sign in the front of there store to scan and purchase tickets on your phone. The lady when over a few rules and procedure. We really had a fun and enjoyable time filled with laughter. The creativity and unique concept gave each room an amazing experience. Plenty of photo ops you could think of which made it interesting. If you have a weird but artistic imagination, I believe you will enjoy Dreamscapes.

I was fortunate enough to catch a live broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word, and everything was beautifully organized from start to finish. The performance began and ended exactly on schedule, and the whole experience flowed with such calm precision that it felt almost effortless. The music was moving, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the setting made it feel incredibly special. It's something that truly felt once in a lifetime for me, and I loved every moment of it.

Additionally, it tasks you with one thing each week as your "Artist's Date." That could be anything from rummaging through an estate sale, going to a funky shop by yourself.. basically any new experience. This venture into the tabernacle served as my artist's date for the week. Honestly I was more into exploring downtown Salt Lake than planning to head to the temple grounds, but as I got closer I grew intrigued to see it. I also had someone following me and shouting obscenities, so when I saw the green space here (and security officers and crowds), I thought, sure, why not head that way?! The tabernacle has a presence, for sure. It was quiet, with some people pulling up seats in the pews and just kicking back. There was no live choir, but at one point a recording of choir went off and added a nice ambiance. Someone got up to do an acoustic display; they dropped a pencil without a mic and I could hear it clear as day in the back. The domed roof allows for that, similar to many cathedrals I've been in across Europe. I enjoyed the energy here. I heard lots of Mormons connecting as many had traveled from various cities and continents, and while not Mormon myself, I caught glimpses of their community and belonging that were nice to observe. Sometimes the unplanned discoveries when out and about, or on the artist's date in this case, are some of the more fun elements of day to day living. This one definitely snuck up on me, and I'm grateful for the brief experience.

The Capitol Theatre is a worthy home of the high-quality work that is presented here. It's a little bit less grand than what I'm used to, but still a beautiful stage and curtain that is well appointed and does what any good theater should. It successfully puts your mind in body in that space where you're ready to digest an artistic effort with just the right amount of respect and anticipation that is appropriate. It's also well managed. I've been to a couple of events held here in the lobby that were again... Perfectly conceived and executed. This is a real feather in Salt Lake City's cap.
