Korean Pickles
Mike C.

So it has come to my attention that I may be an adrenaline junkie. Always looking for new experiences to break through the monotony of life and light me up with passion and excitement. Low and behold this Asian supermarket really lit me up and I cannot wait to go back to try more of there foods and explore more of what I can soak up of the Asian culture. One of the first things that really grabbed my attention after looking through all sorts of fruits that I was not familiar with was Korean Pickled Cucumbers. At $35 a jar I did not pull the trigger and get to try them but one of the first things I did when I got home was to ask Alexa, what in God's green earth is a Korean Pickle? Alexa to my surprise said they were better than Western culture pickles!! Ask her for yourself! I ain't lying :-) In addition to the staples in all food markets, like a fish section and a meat section, they have a food court. The food court enticed me as I saw a family eating from a big pot scooping out portions of soup for each other. I will absolutely come back here this week to try their soup and update my review once consumed. They also sell cook ware such as : ramen bowls, sake containers, among many more items. Highly recommend you check them out if your looking for a change from your usual food shopping runs. As always people SYOY!!!!

First time here today to meet my Korean-American friend. It's a giant Asian grocery store with a special focus on Korean stuff. It can feel a bit overwhelming if it's your first time. I've been to H-Mart in various cities in the past, but it's my first time in such a big Korean grocery store. I was in a bit rush, so I didn't buy any grocery, but I did eat lunch at the food court. I had beef ramen and a coke--price is fair and the ramen tastes okay, a bit bland.

This asian international market has been my family's favorite place to shop grocery They have everything you need basically From fresh fruit/veg to Meat and all types food and food court! I tried soondae which is my favorite korean snack food, they were amazing ;)

I always try to seek out an international market where ever I am. Assi Plaza takes things to the next level with their selection. Regardless of which type of cuisine you're interested in....they probably have it. The majority of their space is dedicated to Asian food, but in my opinion, that's necessary for such a vast and exciting cuisine. The produce is the cheapest around. They always have great deals on seafood. And their sliced short ribs are the best I have ever seen in Bucks County.

Everything exactly like te supermarket in Korea apart from the price! Best homemade style kimchi in town, also a good place to buy seafood! I always look their catalog before I go in! Sale items could get up to 40-50% off!

The seafood ramen advertisement looks awesome, but check out my next picture....

This is a very interesting store and I recommend trying the food court sometime for lunch but don't get the ramen. It was actually very good but I paid $9 bucks for a bowl of seafood ramen with one shrimp, one mussel and two octopus tentacles. It was very different then the advertised picture as you can see in my photos. The sushi place is ok and I think if you order from the menu instead of just grabbing the prepared selections you will get better choices. I was looking around at what people were getting and some of the stuff looked great , definitely need to check out yelp for some recommendations.

Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 3/5 Service - 5/5 Food - 4/5 Parking - Private Parking Lot Atmosphere - The restaurant is nothing special and decorated very minimally. That said, everything was clean, which is always appreciated. Service - The service is excellent. The staff cooks the food for you at the table. While I personally prefer to cook the food myself, having the staff handle everything made the experience feel a bit rushed. What We Ordered - Steamed Egg - which was good Tofu Stew - which was good Beef Tartar - which was very good Pork Belly - which was okay Galbi and Marinated Galbi - which were very good Final Thoughts - The food is solid, but the prices are quite high compared to other Korean restaurants I have been to that offer similar quality. The service is what really stood out here, with friendly and helpful staff.

The salad was a bit underwhelming and we wished there was more salmon sashimi in it, but the dressing was good and it was a nice and light dish to start with. The Pork Regular Combo was plenty for us, and had a good variety of pork belly, jowl, and spicy bull-dwaeji to try. We ended with a really tasty marinated galbi. Our meal also included steamed egg, corn cheese, and doenjang and kimchi jjigaes, which did not fall short, either. Our waiters were extremely attentive and accommodating! Our original reservation was scheduled for 8:30 PM and our plans changed, so we wanted to come in earlier. The staff did their very best on a packed night and were able to get us in at 7:30 PM and made sure to call us to let us know. We had a waiter grilling at all times, so our food was ready quickly. SALT is tucked in a plaza with plenty of parking on a busy night. The restaurant itself was cozy, but one thing we did notice was how quickly we ran out of space at our table. We felt a bit rushed to clear things out, but otherwise, a really great experience!

If you've been to an Hmart, BornGa is basically the Hmart food court but its own independent restaurant, and that's not a bad thing. The menu is mostly made up of Korean soups and noodles, and I got myself a seolleongtang (ox bone soup). Really good among the seolleongtangs I've had, with a soothing beef flavor, a good amount of boneless meat that was easy to eat, and surprisingly some noodles in the soup along with the usual cup of rice. You do have to add salt as is usual for this dish, and there is a jar on every table. The highlight though was perhaps the only non-soup/noodle dish, the tonkatsu. My partner got it and it was HUGE, literally the size of your face. Perfectly crispy with a really nice sauce, no notes on the katsu itself. We did wish it came with more rice and the side salad, as the portions of those felt too small compared to the enormous katsu. However, there is complimentary and UNLIMITED kimchi (both the usual cabbage kimchi and radish kimchi) that you can serve yourself from a fridge, which is a great accompaniment to any meal. Just be reasonable and considerate with it, I'd hate for them to take it away because someone ruins it for the rest of us. Both dishes along with plenty of kimchi were incredibly filling, and every dish on the menu is a flat $16.99 (plus since it's counter-serve, no pressure to tip). All in all, BornGa is not the kind of Korean place that gives you a whole royal spread of banchan or piles of meat from the grill. But it's a great spot if you know what you're getting into - casual but affordable Korean comfort food.

Love that this place was very home-styled, comfy, and more dimly lit for a more intimate dining experience. We came here for BBQ, and the meat didn't disappoint.
