These folks did it all for us! For starters, they repaired a brick wall in our front yard, installed a new sump pump drain pipe and exit, re-worked some existing exterior waterproofing that had been done sloppily in the past, and added a new concrete pad and drain by our back door. They even helped us track down an underground gutter leak and replaced the broken pipe. The showpiece job, however, is the stunning stone retaining wall, that they meticulously built by hand, across the back yard along with the new cement parking pad and stamped concrete border tapering it to our existing drive. The pictures don't do it justice (attached is a "before" photo for reference). Everything was done with great care and precision, using high-quality materials. The owner of the company, Deborah, was a gem to work with. She is super-passionate about the environment and the quality of work her company does. We worked with Gerardo and he was also fantastic. The first crew delivered solid work on the drain line and concrete, but the vapor barrier installation was sloppy--uneven trimming, gaps, and inconsistent application. They also removed a board supporting the incoming water line without explanation, leaving it hanging from a wire and damaging the clamp. Their initial attempt to "fix" it involved taping the board to a pipe, which was not a proper or safe solution. The sump pump outlet was also installed in a way that caused the discharge pipe to partially block it, putting pressure on the plug. Communication was another major issue. I was never given a dedicated point of contact. I had to reach out to the salesperson again just to report problems. He forwarded my concerns to the office, and I was eventually contacted by Christal. She was professional and genuinely helpful, but her phone number repeatedly showed as disconnected, and only some text messages went through. The beam repairs appear to have been completed in the easiest way possible, with little consideration for the work that would need to happen afterward. The crew cut the subfloor approximately three inches away from the walls and left it unsupported. As a result, my flooring contractor had to tear out two sections of flooring and replace the entire subfloor in those areas because the necessary repairs were never addressed during the original project. Even more frustrating, JES only opened a limited section of the floor instead of exposing the entire affected area. Once the flooring contractor had everything opened up, additional damaged wood was discovered that now requires even more repairs. Since JES was already working in that area, it is difficult to understand how these issues weren't identified or why the floor wasn't opened far enough to properly inspect the entire section. Addressing everything while the area was already exposed would have saved significant time, cost, and disruption. The inspection process was another major disappointment. The county inspection failed and was rescheduled without anyone from JES informing me ahead of time. I was then told that no one from JES would attend the reinspection and that it was between me and the county. As a homeowner, I'm not a contractor and shouldn't be expected to answer technical questions or represent the company's work to the building inspector. I hired JES expecting professional workmanship, thorough planning, and support through the entire process. Instead, I've been left coordinating additional repairs, paying for work that could have been avoided, and handling inspection issues that should have been managed by the contractor. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend JES Repair. UPDATE (07/08/2026): I connected with the resolution team and are working through the issues in a positive and constructive manner.

The initial sales person was a classic over-seller and promised the world while simultaneously doing a very surface-level review of the situation, ultimately concluding that we were in need of an indoor water mitigation system and sump pump. The sales process was tortured, over-the-top, and ended with the classic "same-day-only discount" proposal (red flag number 1). The scheduling process and lead-up to the project was radio-silent with no preparation on what to do or what to expect from the project manager or the sales person until I reached out proactively. I had to call the morning the project was set to begin to even know if they were coming or not (red flag number 2). The project itself eventually began and within less than an hour it became obvious the source of the leak was in fact a burst pipe and not ground water coming in through the basement. I called the office and put a stop order on the work at which point they immediately became very cagey about what options were available to me and from this point on once again went radio silent (red flag number 3). Upon reaching out to the office multiple times (via both email and phone) to address the issue and seek at least a partial refund of our deposit for the issue, they took 3+ days to even respond, and when they did, claimed that despite obvious pictures pointing to the pipe being the issue, it could have been ground water at the same time and they were unable to provide any refund of any kind (red flag number 4). I get that I signed a contract. I get that they planned and scheduled the work. I also now have learned an expensive lesson about trusting my gut and being more proactive about my concerns. But they're supposed to be the experts! And the fact that they took absolutely no responsibility for having done a poor assessment of the situation up-front and then pretended like they were actually still right about it was disappointing and embarrassing. On July 13, 2026, Value Dry President James Ketterer met with me and prepared a written agreement addressing remaining work. The next day, he put that work in writing: install two Lally columns, remove the existing block columns and debris, patch 12 openings with block/cement, and remove concrete debris. He also wrote that Value Dry was "working to bring your project to completion as agreed to in the agreements dated 6/20 and 7/13/2026." Mr. Ketterer further admitted in writing that Value Dry's employee failed to follow the proper change-order procedure. He wrote that Danny should have detailed the unforeseen work and costs in writing and obtained my signature before proceeding. Value Dry's Vice President of Operations then confirmed that a crew was scheduled to return July 21. On July 17, Mr. Ketterer canceled that return, stated that Value Dry would perform no additional work, and declared the payments already received adequate compensation for "the work completed." Those words matter. He did not say ALL AGREED WORK HAD BEEN COMPLETED. His July 14 email had just identified work that remained. Instead of explaining that contradiction, Value Dry's public response attacks me personally, discusses another contractor, speculates about my motives, and labels my communications "harassment." If Value Dry is going to publicly accuse a customer of threatening its president, it should identify exactly what was allegedly said, when, who witnessed it, and what contemporaneous documentation supports that accusation. Yes, the July 13 discussion became heated. I acknowledged that. But afterward Value Dry still memorialized an agreement, identified remaining work, scheduled a crew, and continued discussing completion. That documented sequence conflicts with the dramatic characterization now being presented publicly. Value Dry also suggests I demanded work outside its obligations. Its own July 14 email says otherwise as to the columns, openings, demolition and debris work specifically identified as remaining. If Value Dry believes the money it retained was "fair and reasonable," then provide the accounting: money retained, work completed, labor and materials attributable to that work, value assigned to each item, and the value of work left unfinished when Value Dry refused to return. Maryland Judiciary Case Search also publicly displays numerous court case entries involving VALUE DRY LLC/Value Dry Waterproofing spanning many years. A court case entry alone does not prove wrongdoing, and I am not claiming every case was decided against Value Dry. But the public record shows that Value Dry has been involved in numerous Maryland court matters. Readers can search the Maryland Judiciary records themselves. That makes the "contractor beware" attack on me especially inappropriate. Other disputes do not excuse Value Dry from explaining its own signed agreements, written admissions, scheduling commitments, payment decisions, and unfinished work in my case. The timeline is simple: JULY 13: Value Dry entered into a written agreement addressing remaining work. JULY 14: Value Dry identified that work, acknowledged its change-order process failure, and confirmed it was working toward completion. JULY 21: A crew was scheduled to return. JULY 17: Before that date arrived, Value Dry canceled the return, refused further work, and decided the money already paid was adequate compensation for "the work completed." That is the documented issue. Personal attacks do not erase signed agreements. Calling a customer "harassing" does not erase written admissions. Discussing another contractor does not erase unfinished work. Declaring compensation "fair" does not substitute for an accounting. My review is based on my personal experience and the written record. I stand by it. ONE STAR -- HOMEOWNERS SHOULD BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS BEFORE HIRING VALUE DRY My experience with Value Dry Waterproofing was deeply disappointing, unprofessional, and, in my opinion, ethically unacceptable. I hired Value Dry for approximately $12,000 of foundation, masonry, sill/bearing, debris-removal, and structural-support work associated with getting my house properly back onto its foundation. I paid them $8,000. The work was not completed. During the project, Value Dry performed demolition and foundation-related work. After masonry had already been removed, I was told that another $1,500 would be required to restore openings. I disputed this because I had not approved that additional charge beforehand and asked for a written explanation of what supposedly was not included in the original agreement.
