Stellar customer service from the start!!! Had 6 companies come out and do bids for a ductless heating pump system installation, Associated sent a wonderful guy, Blake. He was extremely helpful, professional, friendly, easy to communicate with and answered all of my questions. Because he's very good at his job he asked me follow up questions about financing and even though I was on the right path he provided me with his Eweb contacts that expedited the process and made it all come together. Associated also matched the price of one of their competitors, saving us $100's. Our main install team, Taylor and Steven were also AMAZING! They were very accommodating, friendly, professional and just very nice guys. They did a great job, paid great attention to detail, and asked questions to make sure the equip was where we wanted it and looked nice. The electrians that came out were all awesome. They made sure that we got exactly what we wanted. I really appreciated how efficient and through they were. I originally gave them a 4 star rating...only because they left the hatch to my crawl space open, and didn't remove the cement pad for the old heat pump. Since mentioning this, they sent a technician to remove the pad and replace the hatch. I can't say enough good about this company...they did a fabulous job, saved me money, were on time, and most of all....they cared. Update: After I sent a text to the salesman who sold me the Daiken heat pump system, letting him know the problem with the office personnel not wanting to honor the warranty, he forwarded it on to upper management, and two days later I received a call from the same person "Brandy" who was unwilling to honor the warranty originally and who never got back to me after sending her the requested photos of the screen with holes in it and the rubber flapping outside the vent. But Suddenly, now she was going to send a tech out to fix the rubber flap and replace the screen with a new one, at no cost to me. That is how it should have been with the first contact I made! Associated Heating - - I don't want to have to jump through these hoops to get what the contract says .....step up your customer care!!! read more

In 2019 I spent over $8,000 with Associated for a completely new HVAC system with a 10 year warranty. I had also joined their service membership for seasonal inspections. Recently, they had called to ask if I wanted to renew my membership as the credit card on file had expired. I gave them a new number and they scheduled a service tech to come out and do a service inspection. Well, they had found a blown capacitor that needed replacement, that cost me about $130. Then they find a refrigerant leak in the system and have to run a lengthy system check to search for the leak, another $600. Then they also charge me for the membership at $132. My grand total for a maintenance inspection turned into $590 charge after discount. So, after paying the $590 they then send me an estimate for the 'warranty' work for approximately $1,200 PLUS an additional $250 for the first pound of refrigerant and $132 for every pound after. Do you see my problem with this? I have a 4 year old system with a 10 year warranty and they start finding a lot of reasons to charge me. The repair would be to replace the entire coil system outside that is under warranty. When I called the office to ask why I'm being charged for a warranty job, I was told that I'm not being charged for the warranty part, I'm being charged for the work to replace it. The tech said it is a four hour job which means all told they want to charge me about $250 an hour for labor plus anything else they happen to find along the way to replace a lemon part that I should not have been stuck with in the first place. Now, the majority of my life has been spent in the construction and maintenance industry. Something is wrong here, so I call a different company to come out and give me a 2nd opinion. This other company was surprised that a capacitor had theoretically blown at only 4 years and they would not have charged me for it under that condition. Most importantly, they found NO LEAK! The pressure testing results from Associated made no sense to them as they were outside the guidelines of normal testing parameters. They did however, find an issue with the txv valve. This tech did not try to dazzle me with high tech lingo but explained things in layman's terms. We scheduled a repair with the new company. They gave me a written estimate with a guarantee that the price will remain fixed regardless if it takes 20 minutes or 8 hours. Then when they came out to do the repair, they pressure tested again to be sure and yep, still no refrigerant leak. After the job was done, it cost me $1,077. The exact amount of the estimate. I called Associated to cancel their unnecessary warranty work. Now Associated is still after me for more money. Now they want me to pay for shipping the part here ($250), and to pay for shipping the part back ($250) and to pay a restocking fee ($380). This one might go to court, who knows, but everyone, please get a 2nd opinion. read more

Associated replaced a ductless heat pump for us. Done quickly (4 hours) and works fine(2days). I have had three heat pumps installed and each time a representative of the business came out with in day or two to inspect, answer any questions and collect payment. Not so with Associated. Upon finishing the installation, the installer collected the payment and said to call if there were any questions. Otherwise I give them a full recommendation. I've read a lot of the reviews on here and have to say our experience with Associated has always been a good one. We've purchased two heat pumps from them over the years and have been pleased with the products, installations and service. The techs are always polite and knowledgeable, plus they leave the house clean and put together. The price we paid for our heat pumps was reasonable and competitive with other companies. Recently, the response to our service calls have been a little slower than I'd like, but with Covid and other 'stuff' going on in the world today, they have consistently been here within a day or two (important when it's either too hot, or too cold). They've always been fair and honest with us and we enjoy the professionalism and knowledge of the guys who come to work on our system. I think we'll stick with them. read more

I think it was Max that came to work on my system. He was very efficient went right to work, identified that the system is there a cleaning because the filters have been clean like they should. Cost me some extra money to get a pressure washed out but it's all cleaned up will do better at cleaning filters. They're a good company is it was good service. read more

Associated Heating installed our heat pump and gas water heater 5 years ago. We have had our annual maintenance done every year except last year it slipped through the cracks. We are diligent about changing the air filters and have no pets or children in the house. This year when they came and did the annual maintenance they found mold inside where the fan and motherboard are housed, inside our house. Of course, it was just over the 5 year mark and the maintenance plan had just expired. The technician, Jesse L was very knowledgeable and proficient. He did a level 2 cleaning and tested the system. He found the fan speed was programmed to low and that is why the condensation was dripping causing the mold. Jesse L adjusted the fan speed to where it was performing as it should. We were charged for the level 2 cleaning. The next day we called Associated Heating and said since only the technician can adjust the airspeed this was not under our control, it was technician error. They called us back a few days later and refunded the cost for the level 2 cleaning They are honest and stand by their work read more

NO STARS Crooks & Sociopaths This company is dishonest and engages in bait and switch. Last November (2018) I had them come out to inspect my HVAC. I got a likable and (seemingly) competent tech who did a lot of work but he did argue with me about the price of the service. In the end I agreed to a yearly contract and the coupon from Angie's List was honored. Little did I know I had just been taken to the cleaners. Fast forward to June of 2018. I scheduled someone to come out and clean the filters (plural - there are four of them). I was quoted $19.95. I even explained to Sheena they needed to be washed and she said, "That's Ok, it's $19.95." When the tech came out, (Dan Farnsworth), it was a struggle from the start. He was personally challenged physically to reach the location of my unit, which is under the house and requires crawling several feet to reach. He complained about this and after he had removed the filters he announced he couldn't "make any money" if he only charged $19.95 and would have to charge for a "diagnostic." I protested. He said he could charge me either $106 or $19.95 plus $79. Like anyone is that stupid. We discussed this some more and he called his boss. The agreement we reached was I would clean the filters (they take several days to dry), and pay $19.95 for his removing them and $19.95 when he came back to reinstall them. When I called to schedule the reinstall Ms. Shenna informed me I had a balance of $60 due. I explained that Dan had called his supervisor and that the agreement we reached was $19.95. She kept to a story of "That's not what the paperwork says." She then agreed to call a supervisor. When she called me back she informed me that, "Unfortunately since YOU WERE QUOTED $79.95, that's what we HAVE to charge." I won't tell you what I said back because it isn't fit to print. In summary: 1. I was quoted a price of $19.95 to clean my filters 2. After the tech arrived the price was then changed to a variety of options all $79.95 and up. 3. With consult of the supervisor the price settled on was $19.95 to remove the filters and $19.95 to put them back. 4. When I called to schedule the reinstall I was told I owed the full $79.95 and the implication was I was lying not them. Conclusion: Based on my experience these people are crooks and sociopaths. If there was a rating for customer service of zero I would have chosen this. My experience w Associated Heathing and Cooling withing the last year has been less than joyous. After my HVAC started leaking I called for service. The original service man who came to fix the unit after working on it for nearly 3 hours stated "I've done everything possible, if it still leaks after today please have a technician come back and reach out to the manufacturer technicians for support" , "I've put it in my notes". The unit continued to leak and I had to call them back. They sent another service man out, (who was more than 3 hours late) who did a basic maintenance on the unit saying it was fixed. Upon inquiring whether they reached out to the Manufacturer as their previous technician suggested, they said no. I expressed my concerns and the female office personnel D___ began to criticize my service history (I had not called to schedule a yearly maintenance during covid). I had to take a moment to tell/remind her the entire country was only servicing emergencies the first year during covid and I was caring for my dying brother who recently passed (within weeks of my service call). She didn't care. Treated me as if I was lying. I again questioned the words of her own technician who stated if the unit is still leaking please have them reach out to the manufacturers technicians/support. She said she stood by her second technicians findings. I said ok. Told her I'm ready to pay and she rudely said, we're not charging you for this visit. Fast forward 6 months. My unit breaks. I call them again. Pay for the visit only for them to tell me it's going to cost me more money because what they thought it was, wasn't it. I again questioned why is my unit having these issues. It's not even 5 years old. I'm concerned the original recommendation of the service tech who came out last year was right and they are not willing to acknowledge that or that the unit is faulty. They had no answer, only that "the parts are covered under warranty". I reached out to the owner. The owner swears the issues aren't related but was willing to work w me on cost. I told him I have to think on this as it's a lot of money for "labor" and the cost of the chemical needed. He says ok. I call to accept the offer and schedule an appointment. Relayed I can only schedule on Tuesdays (my only day off) or Friday afternoons in which I will (have done this w them before) arrange family to be there noting again I will be at work. I'm a nurse. I'm scheduled for Friday afternoon after 1:00. They attempt to call me to confirm while I am with a patient knowing I said I would be at work and family will be there. They canceled my appointment. When I was done w my patient, I immediately called only to find out they canceled my appointment because I didn't answer. No regard to the specifics I gave them when I scheduled the appointment (again, no different then any other of my previous arrangements). D___ offers me an appointment the following Thursday (currently mandated to be at work due to a large switch to a new electronic HC system. No time off or vacation time has been approved). Told her I can't take the time off. She says in a disrespectful voice, well if you don't take this date my technician leaves on leave for six weeks. I told her your failure to communicate within your company is not my job to accommodate. I'm the customer. This is not my error and this alis a bulling technique. Again this is not my error. They refused any other accommodation saying her manager was aware and that that was the only date they could offer. I asked them to have their owner call me. She relays he won't be back until after the 6th. Told her I understood please have him call me. She then relays ok, but your declining the appointment on Thurday, I told her I'm not declining, I can't take the day off. Again, treating me as if I'm lying and I failed to communicate and follow through with what time/date I agreed too. Mind you....we hit the 90's this week in weather. We are a small business owner and I don't normally post reviews other than positive reviews for small businesses, but our experience with this company rheir customer service, and the "best HVAC" they repeated noted as such prior to purchasing that we purchased in cas,, has turned out to be the worst. read more

I am updating my review because I have had good experiences recently with this company. I purchased a new Daiken heat pump last November and the outdoor unit went out immediately following its first annual maintenance. The first repair tech Cody found 2 problems with the control panel and did not find all of the problems and ordered new parts, and there was a long delay, and my electric bill more then doubled by using space heaters. Thank goodness a second repair tech Jesse came out and found additional problems and said the whole outdoor unit needed to be replaced. Jesse and Drew worked really hard to get the approval and replaced the outdoor unit completely and charged me zero. It's too bad I had to pay for the maintenance on the first one. But I am happy that they made good on their guarantee. Even though I given them a good rating, I am still unhappy with the sales guy who was horrible and was not experienced enough to sell me the correct item in the first place or stated incorrectly where the system would run along the outside of the house, and Sheena at the phones was super rude one day which is bad for business. If you are thinking of using them, just know that the install and repair techs are fabulous which is the main reason I am writing this good review. read more

Bought an central AC unit a year or two ago, stopped providing cool air in this summer, seems a bit odd but ok stuff happens 2. tech comes over, inspects unit says "everything looks fine".....ummm no cold air is coming from the vents. I ask about this and the possibility of a coolant leak, tech states "Oh....I dont actually fix anything like that....you need to have another tech come out to look at the coolant." WTF thats why we called you to come over. So another tech comes over and quickly identifies very low coolant levels and replaces the coolant. So I ask did you repair the leak? His response "Oh....I didnt actually fix the leak.....you need to scheudle another appointment for a tech to come over and fix the leak." WTF, so we need ANOTHER appointment to fix the actual problem. 3 visits. In their defense, the company did offer to reduce the cost of the first visit; however, all these visits have a cost to them so having multiple visits to fix a coolant leak seems a bit insane. 3. Please spend some time to find a more compentent and professional company to work with and save yourself some headaches. read more

i've used associated in the past for repairs for my hvac systems & considered them to be professional & knowledgeable. this summer my air conditioning went out, & my furnace was also in need of replacement. i had to wait awhile for the new installation, but considering the overwhelming rush of repairs due to the horrible heat wave, i felt they got to me in a reasonable amount of time. they did a great job, installing new units in 1 day & leaving my property w/brand spanking new units. i was very impressed w/their thoroughness & care for my property. i would not hesitate to recommend them & will use them in the future. read more

06-22-2021 Associated Heating and Air Conditioning sent a technician, James, to our house to check on issues with our AC unit not cooling the house properly. After a short period of time, he came the conclusion that we were low on refrigerant, and maybe we had a slow leak. He added "13 ounces of R 410 A" to our system thinking this would resolve the issue. After doing so, the system still didn't seem to improve. After further investigation, he realized that he wasn't testing in the proper locations. He realized that "he should have been testing at the return ducting". Once he realized this was a better test, he found that the return ducting in our attic space was damaged and had a gaping hole in it. He advised us that this was the issue and that needed to be repaired. I immediately removed the interfering shelf in the attic so he could possibly repair the issue for us. James was still packing up his tools when I informed him that the interference was removed, hoping he could finish the job we asked him to do. He claimed he couldn't do it as "I have been here too long". He said they would have to come back to repair this and for us to try to "patch it together in the meantime". He didn't remove the additional coolant as we later found out that he probably should have once he found the more probable issue. 7-20-2021 We returned from our vacation to find the AC performance hadn't improved at all. James came back out and said "it looks like you did a good job repairing the hole"... he wasn't going to do any more work on it. We asked him to please fix it up properly as Associated Heating and Air Conditioning would recommend. He "strapped the ductwork and added more duct tape". The system was STILL not performing to our satisfaction. We have never had this much problems cooling our house over the past 8 years. He felt that this AC unit "may be a little small for our house size". 7-22-2021 After having to deal with warmer temps in the house we decided to try another company, Comfort Flow Heating and Air Conditioning, which was recommended by friends of ours. The technician came out and immediately found that the system seemed "out of balance". She concluded that the system was "overcharged" with coolant. She removed coolant (approximately the same amount that James had put in on 6-22-2021) from the system (we were charged for this removal). Within 20 minutes of her doing this (while she was testing and checking other things) we noticed the AC had cooled the house to temperatures we were wanting. This was virtually an INSTANT change. We waited a week or so to make sure the AC was operating properly, and haven't had an issue since. Once we felt the issue was resolved properly by Comfort Flow, we attempted to contact Associated Heating and Air Conditioning to get a refund for the refrigerant that James added. We don't care about the amount that Comfort Flow charged us to remove the superfluous refrigerant... we would just like a refund for the coolant that James added (due to incorrect diagnostics). 8-18-2021 We have tried to get a response from someone regarding this matter with no luck. read more

They have just informed me that because my system is now 15 years old, I am no longer eligible for the services I've been paying for. The good: they came out and fixed the problem The bad: they charged me a second diagnositic/trip fee for the problem because I did not authorize it immediately. They were NOT flexible. The result: I asked them to waive the second fee as being unfair, they gave me $25 off the $75 (coupon) fee. Since they did not have to do any diagnositics, and they had to get the part from their warehouse (or wherever they get them) the 2nd trip fee should not have been charged. This company likes to over charge seniors. Several incidents with seniors in Falconwood Village. Mostly overcharging them. A couple of people had other companies come in and do necessary work and were charged a lot less. Example told my one friend it was 3000.00 dollars for parts and labor. She called someone else and it cost her 250.00 instead. Same person had a new heat pump put in by Associated. The motor went out in less than a year. They replaced the motor last year and now a valve has gone out and freon leaked out, they want to charge her almost 1000.00 dollars to fix. Telling her she didn't get a warranty. My neighbor across the street had a new furnace put in a couple of years ago and has had several issues in the first year, plus she pays a yearly fee for maintenance and they have charged her extra money. Her daughter finally had to threaten them with turning them in for bad business practices. They need to be reported to Seniors Disabilities for elder abuse. This is a 55 and older community and they take advantage of seniors. read more

i have an appointment for next monday for a maintenance special, however, today my furnace stopped heating. called associated & they had a tech in my neighborhood who was able to come by w/i a short time. kevin checked out the furnace & thermostat control & had the needed part for the repair. i've had associated out in the past for maintenance, & find them to be very professional, reliable, reasonably priced, & their techs are very knowledgeable & respectful of property. i would recommend them highly to anyone needing hvac service, & will continue to call them in the future. i appreciate a eugene service this diligent, as i've had many problems w/other services in the past in this area (i.e., not showing up for appointments, not calling to cancel, not rebooking). read more

On March 6th, Associated Heating checked my installation of a Nest Thermostat. The tech indicated he would rewire the the Heat Pump Kit, as it is not used by the Nest thermostat. No problems. Paid $132. Fast forward to April 7th, I lose my 24volts to the Thermostat. I'm used to work in the HVAC field, and have no problems checking for 24volts with my Fluke. I know that the wiring from the Furnace, Heat Pump and thermostat are all connected at the Heat Pump Kit, which is located in a galvanized box on the side of the furnace. I open the box and what do I see....... NOTHING. The heat pump kit board is gone. The tech took the TAYPLUS 103A Heat Pump Board. The wiring is connected as it should be - bypassing the heat pump board. BUT bypassing is not taking. And that is exactly what he did. I called Associated this morning, got the receptionist. Told her exactly what happened, and I started out nice, but when she told me that if the 24Volt problem is not related to the work done, I would be charged $79. I was not happy. If I ever went back to a standard thermostat, I would have to purchase the heat pump kit - used it is $90. I'm awaiting the tech's call, as if he comes out to my house it will cost me an additional $79. Awaiting the tech's call................... Follow up........... Tech came out. he found furnace controller board faulty. They wanted to charge me over $600 to replace this board. I said I would think about it. I still did not get back the parts for the heat pump kit that he took on the first visit - which he should not have taken. I checked around for the controller board - $128 to $169 and that is a NEW price. I was stunned that Associated wanted over $600 to replace this board - which would take all of 30 minutes tops!!!!! I decided to take a look at the board myself. I turned off the breaker to the furnace, removed the board from the standoffs, turned it over and there it was, a burned pin. I cleaned off the pin, resoldered it and turned the unit back on. Everything works!!! I went ahead and ordered the new updated board for $128. So that is my experience with Associated Heating & Air Conditioning. I won't be calling them again. read more

I spent $15,000.00 on an installation of a heat pump 3 yrs ago. The last few days I haven't been able to get the heat pump to cool under 68. I just had it service February 11th. So I called Associated spoke with Sheena and explained I have read the book a few times and it won't work as per the instructions. She didn't care. She told me that there's no way a tech could call me to walk me through a FaceTime instruction. I'm senior citizen and don't want a worker in my home spreading corona virus germs. So she told me to call Honeywell the make of the thermostat to walk me throughout it. WHAT? For 3 years I paid them $140 extra per year for their silver program package for situations like this that I never used at all. But now that I need this service I get this BS and past off to call the manufacturer. What kind of jacked up customer service is that? Not very good in my opinion. Sheena was rude and really just didn't give a crap and didn't want to help or even try to help. In these awful times we are ALL going through a little dignity and respect would be appreciated by the young people that probably don't understand just how at risk seniors are or really just don't care. So I would consider a different heating and cooling company if you don't want a run around like this. read more

They promote a $39 maintenance special every three or four months with flyers they leave at your home in Eugene/Lane County Oregon claiming to clean and make tune-up adjustments to your home furnace and heat/air pump. Total B.S.! They come out and do next-to-nothing other than try to get you to buy new products from them. I live in a retirement park and I had heard from others that Associated prey on the elderly and especially women who live alone in their homes, to avoid what I was told was a dishonest business. My experience with Associated confirms they are dishonest, deceptive and a business to avoid. They should be ashamed of their deceptive business practices. I have had to have repairmen back FOUR TIMES in that three months to repair the heat pump. Scary, isn't it? I was clear on my issue, I was still charged a diagnosis fee after the fact I gave a detailed description of my problem. Two weeks later they call me with a $300 price to repair my stove. Really! All my stove needed was a new gasket to be installed which cost me less than $20.00 and not even an hour to do. These guy's are CROOKS and UNPROFESSIONAL. They installed my unit and put the compressor right by the sliding glass door by the patio so it blows constant hot or cold air if you are trying to sit out there. Knowing this now I would have put it 2 feet away. I have had them come back 3 times to service. The first time was good. The second time they did not clean the compressor unit and had to come back to complete the job. The third time I called to have it serviced and told them the unit was working but no seeming to get real cold. They did not explain to me there was a difference between the service and repair people. The guy came and cleaned the unit for $82.00 then told me it was not heating or cooling and I would have to pay another $75.00 to have someone come diagnose the problem. The person that made the appt. knew there was a possibility the unit was not working and should have told me upfront to have a service person come. I am done with this company. read more
