We went on Good Friday which could explain why it was slow. We ordered items pretty standard to have a good chance of enjoying our food. Aside from very friendly staff the food was tasteless due to what it seems as if management is cutting costs with lower cost brands for mayo and ketchup. It seems to have gotten worse from my last review back in 2018 pointing out cleanliness (if that could be possible) The windows were filthy, the glass was dirty and the window sills were loaded with dust and dead flies. The place looked like hell. The dessert display was pathetic and nearly empty. The place looked rundown and in need of an update (paint /carpet) Though they are painting the outside of the building. I used to love this place. In the past, the service was always fast; usually within ten minutes my food was ready to eat. The food was great, and I never complained. But after today, I decided never to go back there again. I ordered a crabcake but when I received my food, I saw that I was given two crab cakes, and I refused to eat them because there were shells inside and this time, they were tasteless and undercooked, and I still had to pay for the entire meal. The server didn't even write down my order, and therefore I received other food items that I didn't want; instead of chicken gravy on my potatoes, I received beef gravy which I received on my bread filling as well. Yes, I do agree with the fast and friendly service, but you also expect to receive what you order and not pay more than you had to. read more

I have to admit first off that living in Jersey provides a high standard for diners. The bar is set pretty high! On our way back from West Virginia, we stopped at the Silver Spring Diner, which is right off I-81. The place is big inside with plenty of seating. I ordered the cheeseburger deluxe. The burger was a little soggy, which made the bun soggy, not a good situation. The traditional onion ring was also missing. The place has potential. This diner is situated near a Walmart Superstore and Sams Club in a shopping center on Carlisle Pike. I had brunch with a friend here yesterday and the food was pretty good. I ordered a cranberry juice, a Belgian waffle with strawberry topping, and bacon. The restaurant was pretty busy and the crowd definitely leaned older and more family-oriented. Dani is an amazing server, so friendly and attentive ... but left us waiting at the end of the meal for a coffee refill. She obviously forgot because because she was getting other tables beverages so we had to flag her down and ask for a to-go cup since we were running short on time. Was interesting to order and see how they were able to spread people out, get around to tables, and have such quick service with just one or two people working the floor and a few cooks. As diners are known for, the food was done almost as quick as we ordered it. I wanted to update this to note a change to the service. The food remains great. Their menu has some unusual but appetizing options from the usual diner fare. But what I've noticed lately is the hustle and the rhythm of the staff. You've got a guy at the front of the house monitoring traffic, but he is quiet and attentive as the entire staff operates to seat, take orders, present the courses, and facilitate the check. As soon as a table is emptied, it is bused and seated again. Nothing feels rushed. The back of the house seems to operate the same way because, no matter how busy the dining room is, we've not had to wait more than 15 minutes for full breakfasts to arrive after ordering, even with special instructions or what I'd call "non-standard" fare. When there's nothing to do, the servers clean and restock, sometimes they look to help out others if something goes wrong or they start falling behind. It is fascinating to watch them work. They are working hard, but not laboring to keep up. They are working efficiently. At least, that's my experience these days. read more

We were sat on the side of the diner closest to the bathroom and the raw sewage smell was so overwhelming and nauseating we asked to move our table. We also witnessed the lovely waitress ask the bus boys to clear a table and they couldn't be bothered. The food was cold and nearly inedible. The waitress was the only saving grace! Blah. Nothing too exciting here. Coffee was hot but an off-brand, little flavor. Eggs were nice and maybe local but over cooked. Corned beef was good ol' Hormel...I've had it enough to know it. We'll done "home fries" (shredded potatoes from Sam's, I'll bet) were only toasted on one side, never bothered to flip. Wife's French toast was regular bread battered and deep fried...greasy and little flavor. Off-brand syrup as well. All jellies just what you can buy at Sam's. Stopped in for weekday brunch with my family, the place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside and was very clean. the staff seated us immediately and the waitress was there to take our order very quickly. As quickly as we were seated the food came rushing out, we waited probably 5 minutes for 4 meals and as soon as I tasted my creamed chipped beef over toast I quickly realized why. The chipped beef was INCREDIBLY bland, the only flavor I could discern was a slight sweetness. The toast was okay, but it got a bit soggy since they didn't toast it hard to compensate for it sitting underneath the creamy mixture. My home fries were simultaneously burnt and cold, probably refrigerated and rewarmed.
