First time there in a while. It was a Thursday around 6pm. Service was slow. The place wasn't all that busy. I ordered the Chicken pot pie. It was ok. Noodles were a bit mushy and the broth a little watery. Wife got the Turkey dinner. I have never seen so much dark meat in a dish! The stuffing seemed like croutons with celery. This is one of those mom and pop style restaurants that I hope go on forever. Tables and booths in a large, clean dining area. The menu was vast - breakfast, steak, sandwiches, pasta, turkey, etc... Also, they apparently had alcohol choices, though my 3pm on a weekday visit did not allow me to take part. Service was quick, though after our food was delivered, there was not much follow up. Only got a soda refill as we were preparing to pay the bill. Still, though, friendly and pleasant. Huge parking lot. We were here traveling through, but there were clearly a bunch of regulars that knew the staff and each other - a good sign when repeat business is that consistent. Great family restaurant. Stopped here for breakfast. I got eggs, home fries, bacon and toast. I love that they have home fries or you can ask for hashbrowns. Some places it's they only offer hashbrowns or just homefries. I love that they give you the option. There was a wait when we arrived but it didn't take very long before we were seated. Fast friendly service and our coffee never went empty. We will definitely be back. read more

The sweet potato soup tasted like creamy, yummy goodness, with roasted pecans on top. Roasted chicken placed on a bed of stuffing, covered in gravy with steak fries, oh my goodness. Moist, tender chicken, stuffing with nice big chunks of celery, and steak fries which were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, plus pickled red beets which taste like they came right from an Amish market. Love this family restaurant in York, Pennsylvania! Great service, reasonable prices, delicious meal offerings, and cozy decor. Cathy is a top-notch server, attentive to her customers and makes smart recommendations. My friend and I both started with a cup of Italian Wedding Soup that was so tasty, my friend took a container home for a few meals. The soup was full of homemade meatballs and had the right balance of spices. I enjoyed a Greek salad LOADED with two of my favorite ingredients--feta cheese and olives. House Greek dressing hits the spot! I had enough salad to take some home to share. The seating is comfortable here, and you do not feel rushed. Refills on your beverage were our server's natural inclination, and we felt welcome. I've been eating at Stoneybrook Family Restaurant since it was my grandmother's favorite back in the 80s. Now that I live minutes away, it's become a staple in my family until the past 6 months. Not sure what has changed, but there is almost always an error made in the order, poor service, and/or inconsistent portion size. This is how I started my New Year's takeout dinner which I split with my mother. I had ordered their Mousakka once before and got triple what we did today, so we only ordered one this time. Unfortunately, they did not cut the price when we were slighted on portion. Additionally, this "mousakka" was a hint of ground beef with leftover baked potato cut to accommodate a makeshift meal of leftovers. What I failed to find (at least without a magnifier) is any evidence of actual eggplant! I'm not even Greek and know this dish was a poor attempt at the classic recipe. They should have just called it Leftover Surprise to be more accurate. I think I'm done with this place, which is sad after decades of coming here. They need to step up their service on all ends. The only person that was helpful was the host who sat us close to the front door because my wife has a walker. But after sitting there for almost 10 minutes not one person acknowledged us even though mupltip waitresses walked past our table and waited on tables around us. I met up with a friend for lunch here. Was able to park soon as I entered lot. I had no problem finding the location is on a heavy traffic road. We were greeted soon as we entered and seated immediately. Our waitress, forgot her name, but she was the only one wearing antlers, was very kind and chatty. My friend ordered a salad, it was a good size and mix of vegetables. I ordered a tuna sandwich which was ok nothing extraordinary. Surprise I actually tried the apple raisin baked oatmeal. It wasn't bad. I really could only tast the raisins. Still a pleasure to be here. Ronnie's breakfast was right on the mark. I knew it was a good place because several of the servers have been here for over 15 years. Some as long as 29. But my biggest disappointment is in myself. All the reviews I do and I failed to mention the one person who is here what seems like every day. His work ethic is well above excellent and he is the most pleasant person I've met. His name is Jesus and I've seen him jump in wherever he's needed. NEVER saw him in a bad mood. The big dog Harry is also a very stand up guy. So definitely give them a try. This has always been my favorite diner in my hometown. You can never be let down by the food or the service. Everything on the menu is delicious but I especially love getting breakfast which you can get anytime you want! Today I got crab cakes though and they were fabulous, OF COURSE! Unlike some restaurants that put tons of breading and no crab here you get plenty of crab. They are juicy and well seasoned, broiled with butter The meals come with two sides and they bring dinner rolls to the table as well. I had applesauce with cinnamon and green beans. It is not a fine dining restaurant but when you are looking for home cooking and great service with smiles this is a wonderful eatery to come to. Basic local diner in the heart of York. Had the bacon wrapped meatloaf w/ broccoli and cup of beef noodle soup. Frankly the soup was best part of the meal. Found the meatloaf to be lacking flavor and heavy in breadcrumbs. Bacon really didn't add anything to the meatloaf which was sad. My coworker ordered the bison burger which was over cooked. Visited yesterday with 2 friends at lunch hour. Place was full with people waiting. Waitress was friendly but too busy to provide timely refills. 3 stars was for the loud atmosphere and meals. My one friend ordered the pot pie which is not a pie but a chicken and noodle stew, and onion rings, which were a good size and portion. The other ordered crab cakes, which had a fair amount of crab, but only a few back fin lumps. However I requested teriyaki salmon which was the thinest filet I have ever seen. Though 2 waitresses assured me the green beans were neither fresh nor canned, they were so over-boiled as to be limp and inedible. Stonybrook Family Restaurant definitely meets these requirements! We tried to eat here a couple of times previously but this place gets busy (must be popular!) but the time we came, we had an early dinner to celebrate the last day of school. The food was really good!! We all really enjoyed the food and were even picking off each other's plates too! The atmosphere was nice, clean, and family-oriented, as one would expect.
