Pye Boat Noodle is a hidden gem in our neighborhood! Whenever we visit we always leave satisfied. The staff is incredibly kind and the prices are very reasonable at around $15-20 for noodle dishes. Restaurant setting is very well decorated with a cute backyard for when the weather is good. We ordered the Chicken Noodles Soup and the Tom Yum Bolarn Noodle. Both were delicious and hit the spot, my only gripe is that the broths tend to be a little salty for my tastes - but this is really a personal preference. I came here for lunch with a friend. I've been meaning to come here since I've been craving boat noodles that I had in Thailand. This is probably one of the few places that serve it in NYC. We ordered the salt wings and the pork boat noodles (dark pork blood broth with soy and anise, sliced pork, pork meatballs, pork rinds). Don't knock pork blood, it's high in protein, iron, and minerals so it's good for all my anemic friends. The pork boat noodles were delicious and definitely hit the spot. I got to try the larb moo, Sukothai noodles, and pad gra pow. I tried the broth of the boat noodles as well and wow it's rich and delicious. The larb moo is typically one of my favorite Thai dishes, and this was was just as spicy and mine infused as I like it. However, the portion was rather small for what it was! The Sukothai noodles were refreshing and flavorful, and portion was good. The peanuts and cilantro really elevate the soup. Highly recommend getting it with the rice noodles! We did a food tour and Pye Boat was one of the restaurants on our list. It was in the middle of the day so when we arrived, we were the only guests in. This was perfect since it meant that we would have great service! We quickly sat at the table near the entrance right by the windows and saw how many traditional dishes they had on the menu. We got the spicy raw beef and even though I wanted the larb moo, we weren't going to be able to finish it so we decided to get drunken noodles instead. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and kept checking up on us! The spicy raw beef was indeed very spicy and so I had to stop after a few bites. It was delicious and I wish my spice tolerance was a lot higher so I could eat more. Overall the ambiance, decor and food were done extremely well and I'm looking forward to coming back to try more authentic dishes! read more

This place was the most authentic Thai restaurant I have been to. I normally just get the Pad Thai or Pad See Ew at Thai places - but there were so many more noodle options!! We ordered the Tom Yum noodles (wide noodles), which came with fish balls, fish cakes, and crispy wontons. It was delicious, including the wide rice noodles, and the soup was flavorful and a bit sweet. Not too potent or spicy. I would get it again. The Ba Mee (egg noodles) were dry noodles and still quite good. It came with crab meat (not imitation crab) and meat. I liked the egg noodles, but preferred their soup noodles more. Papaya salad was also good, fresh, and came with pork rinds that were delicious. Service was great. The restaurant is decorated nicely. PBN is solid casual source of Thai food and tropical vibes. It's especially fun when the courtyard opens in the summer. As to specific dishes, I recommend starting with the Fried Pork Strips appetizer. It's simple, crispy and delicious. I've come a few times with groups and that's often the table's favorite. But the menu is more than adequate to address most of your Thai cravings. Plus, the service is friendly and the food comes out quickly. We got takeout from here on a cold evening during the week. The website to order was easy enough to order and came from their actual website. We did not use uber eats. I was a little early to arrive and my food was not ready. However, the server was super nice and I could either sit at the bar or by another bench area. Since I had time, I admired the decor. I've been coming to Pye Boat Noodle whenever I'm craving Thai food near the area. All the times I've been here, it's been solid. Parking is accessible via street and metered parking. There are a few tables inside but it is not a huge restaurant. I think it can get packed pretty quickly. I've ordered Pad Thai a few times and it has been delicious each time. I like how it is not overly dry or wet. They also provide condiments to spice up your dish if you want to. Staff is very friendly as well. I wish I could this place -100. Worst dining experience in my entire life. I was exploring Astoria from Manhattan and saw this place had a good review. Since I had already had dinner and was not hungry but was craving some papaya salad, I walked in. I ordered one papaya salad; while eating, I noticed they had minimum credit card charge of $15. But, I asked them if I could use credit card for the salad costing $12. They said no, which I respected. Also, it was indicated that they don't accept Apple pay - I respect that as well. Since I was walking around as a way to work out, I only had my phone and my Amex. So I ordered another dish to go to meet the minimum credit card $. The bill came and I gave my credit card ( Amex) and all of sudden the staff said they do not accept Amex and asked me to Zelle. I told them I don't have zelle; they told me to ask my friend to zelle. So embarrassing.. Gosh- my friend would be like where the fxxx are you sitting and eating? I didn't want to embarrass myself, seriously. So I said NO. But, they kept repeating the same thing - We don't take AMEX and ask your friend to Zelle. - No solution After very uncomfortable, annoying and unprofessional interactions with the staff, one staff asked me to place an order on ubereats to pay with my credit card. Problem resolved but unpleasant until we reached that point. They should indicate " NO AMEX" somewhere!!!! Before they give me the bill to customers!! Also, one of the staff with short hair was giving me a look from the time I walked in. Each time she walked by she gave me a very unpleasant look. I could definitely tell she was hinting something bad about me to another staff. Not sure why- maybe because I only ordered a salad? Except for her, other staff was nice and I actually felt bad for one of them who was trying to resolve the situation. There are so many good Thai restaurants in NYC. Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I order delivery and pick up and dine in at Pye regularly and it is reliable, consistent and always tasty! Their dishes always have a lot of flavor. When I need comfort I'll order a rice or soup, if I want that extra flavor I'll order one of their stir fry dishes. Some favorites are pad kra pow with minced pork or minced chicken, bolarn noodles and pad see eaw. Their Thai iced tea is also awesome. For dine in the interior has a very like retro plus old Thailand vibe and the staff are very nice. This is easily my most frequently restaurant in the neighborhood! read more

This place seemed like a cute date spot, but I did take out here. The soups were both delicious in different ways. The beef one was rich and hearty while the chicken one was sweet and light. There was not much food in each bowl unfortunately, but the little food there was good. The beef definitely edged out because egg noodles are superior and the wide noodles they had all stuck together in the sukhothai. I've heard such amazing things about Pye Boat Noodle so I made sure to come on a cold rainy day and it hit the spot! It's a relatively small restaurant but we were seated immediately upon walking in but I can see how it can get pretty packed. I got the Tom Yum Bolarn Noodle ($15.50) and it was the perfect balance of salty, sour, and sweet and the broth wasn't too heavy at all. I was impressed with how quickly the food came out and I ate it so fast because it was so good. The only reason why i'm giving it 4 stars is because the portions are pretty small for the price so if you're really hungry it may not be super filling. It's super delicious though and i'm excited to try some of the other dishes. read more

After reviewing their menu, it seems like this restaurant specialize in Thai noodle dishes. I have never seen so many different options of Thai noodle before. The waitress recommended getting it with chicken. The chive pancake was served in rectangular cubes and it was crispy on the outside and surprisingly so soft and chewy/gooey on the inside. The surprise we felt was like biting into a fried ice cream. I also love the tangy vinegar sauce paired with the dish. The red curry noodle was so creamy and flavorful. I drank it like a soup because I didn't want to waste any drop of it! The one thing I did wish for was if they added more vegetable like bamboo or some greens. One of the most authentic Thai food I've had in America! I used to live in Malaysia and visited Thailand frequently, so my standards are quite high when it comes to Thai food. I loved the pad see ew and the boat noodles. They were full and rich with flavor without being too salty. The chicken wings were extremely crispy and flavorful. Meatballs were great too! All the staff is Thai and very friendly. The decor was super cute with Thai movie posters and decorations. We didn't have to wait on Valentines Day evening so I'd guess there isn't usually a wait. I came for an early solo dinner because I was deeply craving soup in the start of winter, and was able to be seated immediately on a Sunday. The restaurant is bustling but they have quick service so are able to get everyone's orders quickly. I appreciated their wide selection of noodle soups on the menu, and ended up settling on the Tom Yum "Bolarn" Noodle. It was exactly what I was craving, warm and comforting broth but with a hint of lime to cut through the richness. I liked that there was minced pork as a topping, on top of the variety of fish/shrimp balls and fish cake. I ordered it with egg noodles which were bouncy and soaked up a perfect amount of broth. My favorite Pad Kee Mao in the neighborhood. Noodles are wide and chewy, sauce is clear and spicy. Comes with sauteed cabbage and other vegetables. It's delicious. Service is nice and friendly. Ambiance is cute and cozy. Nice for a casual meal out. I would be comfortable dining solo here, too. Shrimp wasn't as juicy this time, but I'm picky on finding succulent perfect shrimps.
