Service cuts out daily. (Multiple times a day!) Customer support is worthless. They now offer a "forever" price for internet now. But only for new customers. The representative said I could get it waived. I received the new bill and being charged the $79 plus another $14 new account fee and I have been with them for two years. The lady told me I had an unpaid balance from going over my unlimited data in December. How do you go over unlimited data? She said she'd take the charge off, but not the interest because I didn't catch it myself when it happened. Their monthly rate is awful. This is what 8 years and 8 months as a customer gets you. They informed us that the problem is not in our home, It is in the lines at the street. Nothing has been done to repair the line. They continually increase our monthly fee and service is below grade. Absolutely insanely terrible customer service. I provided my bank details for my first month, but my bank said they never attempted to pull a payment. Instead of notifying me, they send me a new bill next month with last months balance plus and insufficient funds fee. How can they know if they never tried? I asked what the number were so i could see who might've made the mistake. Every person i talked to refused. They just kept saying i needed to pay it all. I got zero answers. Service is decent, but have had several outages in the last year. Price adjustments are the real issue as a long time customer. The biggest problem I see is how they treat their long time customers. My rate almost doubled ($57 to $99 for gig internet) last month and when I called, they said there was a "1 year promotional rate" that lapsed. I wasn't aware of this on my end as it had matched my rate from the last five years. After talking to the rep, they reduced to $79 and acted like they were bending over backwards for me. I asked to talk to a supervisor to see why a long time customer was paying 37% more than new customers and if this was the policy of Astound. She refused, saying it would be "just too long" to talk to a manager. I said I would hold, but she said she would have a supervisor call me. No call and no supervisor. Lesson learned and a warning to anyone who reads this. Your rate will increase significantly as a loyal customer.In my experience, it will double with no warning and you'll have to call/cancel. If the intro price as a new customer is close to another provider, I would choose the other provider. read more

Here we are again. Day 3 of another outage. No updates on social media. No courtesy text or phone call. Needless to say I have Century Link coming out Wednesday for service. I have had it. The X page response was lukewarm. The phone customer service and tech reps were outstanding. Very accommodating and understanding. I was very upset because they have no support from Astound management. I usually am very understanding but I have had too many issues with outages since 2022 with Astound. More than with any of the other companies in other states. I hate I had to even give them one star. read more

Stay away from Astound. Astound Rep Sean, from Woodburn, OR, took my order for WiFi and mobile. He provided "misinformation," as Astound now calls it. I have his promises in texts and on a business card, but Astound isn't interested in seeing them. -- The rep promised, in writing, that my rate would be locked in for two years. On the business card he left in my door, he wrote "2 year price lock." Astound's "Lynette" says the lock-in is only for one year, regardless of what the rep promised. Her "lead," Alexandria, said there were no two-year locks for my speed, also regardless of what the rep promised. Adriana, at yet another level, put me on a long hold and came back to say nothing could be done, again regardless of what the rep promised. They had no interest in seeing his texts or business card. The bottom line is that Astound feels no need to honor their rep's promises. -- The rep promised an "eero pro 6, the most current version of the eero," and an eero beacon. The WiFi installer said they don't provide these for installs of my type. He also said my existing eero, which I own, is better than what he would have installed. I texted the rep about why he'd promised this, and he said he'd look into it. He never got back to me. --The rep promised that there were no fees. I noticed online references to a one-time activation fee, so I specifically asked about it, along with taxes and fees. The rep texted that "All fees are included." I've had Astound mobile for four days, and today I was billed for "taxes, surcharges and fees," along with the activation fee. Customer service says, "Sorry for the misinformation." -- Rep said the WiFi install would be done in one day. The technician hadn't shown up by the time the four-hour window had closed. I contacted the rep, who texted that "It will get done today no matter when they get there they'll stay and finish it." The tech finally arrived but only spray-painted lines on my gravel driveway for a shallow BSR (borehole) trench. Up to that time, the rep had said nothing about a borehole. He'd been to my house, so he should have known I'd need one. It delayed everything by about two months. -- The borehole guys showed up a few weeks later without notice. They left a noticeable ridge over the buried line, which I've had to rake down, and the pavers they'd removed and replaced are a little off. And I still have orange paint marks on my driveway and white marks under my deck. -- Rep didn't know what VoIP --Voice Over Internet Protocol --was, which is pretty standard. He texted, in response to my query, "I'll have to check on the VOIP I don't know what that is." -- One of the Astound chat people advised that the rep should have ordered both internet and mobile at the same time and that that was causing issues. -- The rep said Spectrum should pro-rate me for unused service. Not true. -- I was without a phone for three days. There was a problem setting up Wi-Fi calling, so the customer service rep, Juliann, suggested we start over with a new eSIM. Juliann promptly replied to my emails -- I have no landline -- and genuinely and persistently tried to move things along, from what I could see. But she had an extremely hard time getting a new eSIM released, and I couldn't set up Wi-Fi calling without it. She "escalated" the issue -- so did Lori-gaye in Astound Chat -- but she didn't get updates and was "stuck waiting for this technical issue to be resolved ... some sort of technical issue on the back end." There were issues with "the system." "Upper management" was supposed to review the matter. Something eventually worked, and I received the new eSIM. But I'd literally spent hours on email, Astound Chat and a neighbor's landline trying to get this thing resolved. All in all, a bad experience, except that - so far -- both Wi-Fi and mobile are working fine. I'm awaiting the first complete bills to see if more promises will be broken. Suffice it to say that I am not recommending Astound to anyone, least of all my neighbors. In this new market, Astound seems, so to speak, not ready for prime time. read more

This has been my experience . . . For the past five days (beginning 9/6) my internet service has been off and on or completely off for hours at a time. No help has been offered because there is no way to speak with a real person - only voice prompts that end up hanging up on you. A visit to the local office in Walport resulted in the office being closed on Monday 9/11 and never opening after waiting for over an hour for them to return from the posted lunch hour. In my time of using different internet providers, I have NEVER received such poor customer service. As I sat waiting for the office to open I was annoyed by the poster in the window proclaiming rewards in customer service. I'd like to know who determined that award? THEY ARE WRONG!!!!! This is the most painful customer service experience I have ever had. I unplugged my router from the wall to move it, and when I realized the cord wouldn't reach to the new position I plugged it back in. Simple, right? Nope. Router showed as WAN port unplugged. Even after doing all the general diagnostics (restarting, checking pins in the wall and router, swapping cables, changing from dynamic to static, etc.) no response. I have a friend who works w/ internet connectivity as a job, and he did some more advanced diagnostics but no luck - looks like it's ISP side. I had this same problem months ago, albiet with a slightly different cause. Astound (formerly Wave) has some extremely sensitive security protocols that shut off service after erroneously flagging a duplicate IP. They sent out a technician, it was a whole hassle because I wasn't informed about the $80 charge, then on a second call was told I could avoid the charge by having a protection plan for $5/month, then on a third call was told if I cancelled before the third month I'd be retroactively also charged the $80, and finally on a 4th call someone mentioned it was actually 6 months. So if I'd cancelled at month 3, I would have been out $95 total. And to top it off, when the tech arrived he said it was on their end and that I could just call in the next time. That was last time. So this time I was prepared. First call was unhelpful - I asked them to check like the tech recommended and they said they couldn't. But on the second call I was told that they'd have their network team look into it since I'd already done all the diagnostics and wanted to avoid the $80 charge or $5 for 6 months. They gave me a work order and said to call back if it wasn't fixed by 8-9am tomorrow. And from my past experience I made sure to clarify that if the network team couldn't solve the issue they would call me about next steps. Then I got an email saying that I had a technician booked at some point between 8am-8pm. So.... What? I called back and spoke to another rep. She told me they couldn't see anything on their end so had booked an appointment. Keep in mind - I knew from my prior experience that there's an $80 charge. But if I hadn't, unless I read the fine print of the email (for the appointment I specifically requested to not have) I would have been charged. I mentioned this to the rep, and she excitedly said I could get protection and wouldn't have to pay. I asked if I needed to have it for 6 months or I'd be charged anyway. She wasn't as happy but admitted I would. So to recap: totally normal process of unplugging my router somehow messed up connectivity from my ISP. I call in and get wildly different messages that, at each step of the way, leave out info that will cost me a good chunk of money. And the worst part? I'm in a managed building that partners with Astound. So I can't manually fix my modem unless I tear it out of the wall. They need their tech to come. I explained the prior experience with the tech and told my rep that he said it was on Astound's end. I asked "if it was a mess up on your end, and it was just an incorrect security protocol flag, would I still be charged?" She was quiet for a while, then said "yeah, I think you would." I'm in customer service. It's totally unfair for individual reps when they aren't given the info needed to solve an issue on the phone. So no marks against the individuals I spoke to. But from the company the entire process has been beyond obscure. If I hadn't checked my email and read the fine print, I'd be out $80 and wouldn't have even known to be home for the appointment. If I hadn't already known about the cancellation policies, I'd have gotten the $5/month, cancelled after a month, and been out $85+. No response. No help. And still, unfortunately, no wifi. read more

I have had Astound for almost 4 years at my apartment in Portland, OR, since it was still called WaveG. In that time, they have steadily increased the price of my connection, either by bumping my monthly rate or adding random "One-Time Charges" to my bill. I was receiving 100mbps service for $35/mo, which I consider fairly reasonable for residential internet (never mind the fact that we never saw higher than 90mbps down and maybe 30mbps up). At the end of it, I was paying almost $100/mo for the same crappy service. The last time I spoke to a representative about lowering my bill, they basically told me "all ISPs do this, you won't find a better deal anywhere else, and you're already paying a pretty good rate for your area" which I know for a fact is complete nonsense. I just switched to Quantum Fiber and am getting symmetrical 200mbps, measuring average speeds around 215-220mbps, and the setup process was an absolute breeze. Overall, I do not recommend Astound Broadband. Damn crooks. read more

Without a doubt the worst company in the entire universe from a customer service standpoint. I'm 52 years old and have never written a review for anything, but felt compelled here. After dozens of hours on the phone simply trying to schedule adding phone service, they no showed 3 times on scheduled appointments. I would rather walk barefoot through a patch of poison ivy lit on fire while being stoned to death then have to deal with this poor excuse for a company. I cannot understand why this company has not been severely fined and reprimanded by the FCC, BBB, or whomever is supposed to police greedy bait and switch business practices? I reside in an enormous sized apartment complex, that maintains an on-going old contract with Astound. because of this, I'm stuck with having to use them, as are all the other tenants here. Astound knows they've got giant account here, and we can't go else where. believe me, I tried. other Internet providers see this apt complex as in contract and won't overstep. Astound has a FINANCIAL MONOPOLY, and that is very dangerous if you're a consumer with no other service options. Astound can (And does!) charge whatever they want. I've been (No other option) an Astound customer for many years. I only have basic Internet service. that's it. no extras whatsoever. no landline, not a gamer, just the basic Internet service, and yet, E V E R Y M O N T H the bill changes (Higher, of course) even though my service hasn't changed. PLEASE, Do NOT use Auto-Pay, if you're trying to balance a tight budget. Every month your bill will be different (More money, of course!) and every month I call, always a long wait time(unless you hit the New customer button) once I finally speak with a representative, I'm told I had a promotion that expired, or Inflation, or some bogus fee explanation, the excuses I hear every month, over the years, are entertaining, but I'm not amused. IF you're a NEW customer, it's all rosie, until the promotion ends. I've had enough! I plan to speak with the apartment complex CEO, to see what can be done about this criminal financial monopoly Astound broadband - Wave has here. perhaps the CEO is unaware of the criminal price gouging? Final payment cleared june 28th. Been with them 14 years and never missed or was extremely late with payment. Cancelled service july 5. I received another full bill and they want their money. I went back in time and looked. It seems my bill date had changed. It is like a group of lawyers sat down and strategically changed the way billing works so that people dont know when to cancel. This company will go down. Ziply is now in the area and offer 2/2gig for what wave charges for 1gig down 10MBs up. Fifer will destroy cable. read more

We've been with astound for a good 2 years now due to it being our only option and needless to say, we have wifi up and running not even half the time. Constant outages and I mean outages that lasts for days with the avail of NO HELP. Wifi will drop multiple times through out the day. You won't be able to get anyone over the phone who gives you any useful answer and usually you can get someone to come out within 5 business days. Y'all should really look elsewhere. I canceled service after 3 years during COVID-19. It was as easy as possible to print a "FREE" shipping label and send the equipment back. Customer Service was kind, and extremely helpful in canceling. I even got a small check back for overpaying the final bill. Fast forward, I went back to xfinity because of the cable TV options and realized it wasn't going to work for our household (due to the need of mesh extenders for the internet). I'm switching back to Wave for the previous experience and extremely helpful service. I'm looking into their TV options now. read more

12/2019 After using WAVE for two years in Newport at the beach, I have changed my former 5 star review to 2 stars. Changes have happened at the company and it is now next to impossible to reach anyone at customer service and the company seems on a dedicated mission to raise prices and eliminate customer service. A shame. Recently I went on a five day vacation to return to no service! What happened? Company shifts. Well. After several attempts I finally was able to schedule a tech to problem shoot. I signed up for Astound because they gave me a coupon for free installation which they did not honor. When I called to get it fixed they told me over the phone they had removed the installation charge but it kept showing up on my bill. When I called back the customer service rep said there was no note that I had ever called and that they would not be removing the charge. They also told me that the coupon I got was not traceable because they don't keep track of where they send what coupons. I would use any other internet service if I could go back to when I moved in and I will not be using Astound in the future. read more

We were in the process of selling our home and asked for service to be ended on October 31. Unfortunately they disconnected October 22. That's not the worst part, the worst part was trying to reach someone that could fix it. We called and got a human after 15 minutes. She "accidently" hung up on us. We call again, and got a human after 20 minutes, and again, after she tried to help for another 15 minutes she hung up on us. We finally got someone else who spent 45 minutes and was finally able to help. As a reminder, all this time was spent trying to get them to correct their own error. To round off the bad experience they then sent us a $400 connection fee. I will go to great lengths to avoid them in future. read more

Astound Broadband is honestly one of the worst Internet companies I've dealt with. The customer service is horrible. I've had several issues with my bill over the last few months spending hours on the phone and chat due to a mistake that was made by one of their agents. I finally did get credits for all the extra charges after the most frustrating interactions I've ever experienced with any companies customer service. l get my bill today and there is a $40 "Restoral" charge. My service was never suspended but apparently if you pay your bill late enough they tack on an extra $40; it's essentially a late fee but they can't call it that. I attempted to chat with an agent and then with a supervisor to explain that I had waited to pay my bill because it took a full bill come to reflect the credits from the mistake that was made. I needed to see how much I was supposed to pay. The Supervisor was incredibly condescending and just kept telling me the charges are valid because I received a notice etc. If I had a better choice for internet in town I would change companies. read more

Wave's commercial is a joke don't fall for it. Run up to 15 devices at once. I can't even get one device to work and they keep raising my bill. My wireless is always down and very rarely works. They know they are the only provider in our area so they charge us an arm and a leg. I do not recommend their service to anyone. If you live in an area with other options go with them. This service is abysmal. Our internet drops multiple times per day. The call center leaves you on hold for more than an hour. After scheduling a recent service call to rectify the problem, Wave left me a message they had cancelled it. I tried to reschedule and they will not schedule a tech. One call center tech told me they were mailing a router. When it didn't arrive, I called and was told they don't mail routers and had no record of this call. I thought Direct TV was hard to deal with until I just called WAVE. My mother died and all I'm trying to do is move the account into my name. They wouldn't even tell me how much I can PAY them just to keep the service going until I get them the death certificate etc. I live out of state and switching the account over the phone will cost me $ versus going into the store in OR... Called and was told I was put on unlimited only to be over charged again the next month. I was getting ready to submit scathing review but it looks like everyone else already beat me to it... I live in a small farm house just off of the Highway in Donald Oregon. When I attempted to establish service in my area, I was notified that it would require a "line extension", which makes sense seeing as how the home is located approximately 150 yards off of the main road, the only thing is, this was over two months ago. At this point, if there was an alternative provided (aside from Centurylink), I would gladly have chosen them by now. Never in my life have I had such a difficult time giving someone my money. Not only have I been on the phone with this place three different times, I even went in to the nearest branch to see if there was anything we could do to get this resolved. Once again, nothing. Their customer service sucks because they see the reviews about their shitty brand and dont want to help and the worst part is they secretly charge you more and make false promises for prorating when you didn't have service provided from them for a whole week.
