I am sorry to say this, but Grande has been changing for the worse in the last two years. Y'all can forget about my 5-star review back in 2020! Grande has been nothing but a pain for the last year, and I am just TIRED of their excuses. I work from home, and there hasn't been a single day where I lose internet signal more than 5 times a day (that is not normal). On some days, I lose signal for hours and I know what their answer is "unplug and plug back your router". It is so frustrating that doesn't matter what we do, we always have the same issue and the customer service tells me that if they send someone, and don't find a problem then I have to pay an additional fee for their "work". They used to be such a good company with amazing customer service, but I guess since their recent changes with Astound things have been changing for the worse. Definitely not coming back to Grande ever again. read more

Where do I start. Unfortunely the apt only allows Astound. But that isn't the problem. I sign up for internet service in the middle of Feb. Being a new customer with a $200.00 gift promotion. I thought my first bill will be in March to be paid in April. Come April I was already two month behind with of course a late fee. I call they wave the fee and paid my bill. The customer rep. ask about enrollment in auto pay and save an addition $10.00. So I did gave him my bank information. I though okay I don't have to worry about it. So Fast forward to June my service started to slow down and buffing became a nuisance. So I called again to find out that I again was behind. The rep. for some reason didn't complete my enrollment. Well I talk to another rep. explain everything that happen. This time I was told that they couldn't help me at all. I had two paid the two month and the late fee. I told her I have no problem paying it but can she please wave the late fee and charge me the amount I was told if I set it up for auto pay. I was told she couldn't. I ask about the promotion and she said I didn't qualify because supposedly it states that the customer couldn't fall behind. Well I guess I didn't read the fine print and I wasn't told this in person when I sign up for service. I just finish talking to another rep and he stated again there wasn't anything he could do. He also stated that if I didn't pay the complete bill including the late fee there was going to be another late fee because of the late fee I wasn't going to pay. WOW As for the promotion I guess I'm not receiving it. Okay keep your darn gift card but at least wave the late fee due to that it was your rep. that didn't follow through. Do not get this internet. I swear it feels like every weekend there's a service interruption that last all the way until the next day. And you think you'll wake up with internet haha nope. Then when you call to check on the eta, you hear about how it's the most reliable blah blah blah and it pisses you off more. Battlefield 6 just came out and guess what. No internet. A couple weeks ago, same thing. This is just a dumpster juice of a service. Would not recommend at all. It should damn near be free to use this service. Update*** In case you were wondering if I'm joking or not in my post from 21 hours ago... The internet still isn't working. Still getting the most reliable and faster internet speech and they keep pushing the time that the internet will be on, back by 3 hours. They literally have the worst team ever. Who's fixing the internet? 3rd graders? Anyway Ive called AT&T and I'm switching over to them tomorrow. Btw you can't speak with a representative while the internet is down. So termination isn't possible. Don't know what internet has to do with a phone call when they have their chatters msging 5 msgs back to back because they don't know how to send one detailed msg. While the network service isn't bad, they rate limit upload speeds below what they should be for standard 10/100 and gigabit Ethernet standards. This is problematic the more people need equivalent upload speeds for work from home and video conferencing. On top of that, while cancelling my account, I discovered that they had been illegally charging me model rental when I provided my own modem. They tried to demand their modem back, but I didn't have one. I had to personally take MY cable model there, show them that the MAC on it was the one on the account and that it was NOT one of theirs. It took three front line workers, a rude manager, and a tech to figure out that they were illegally charging me and would not even consider refunding what they illegally charged me. Astound is buying up locally owned and operated Internet and cable services and ruining them. read more

DO NOT GET SERVICE WITH THEM! Astound has to be the worst service provider I've dealt with! I was with spectrum for 8 years and never had issues with customer service. They can never address issues. You're always placed on hold without being informed first. I only switched over because spectrum was not offered at my new apartments. I called multiple times to have an issue resolved about getting over charged for cable and was left on hold without any notification for 30+ minutes (this happened every time I called). Every time I called I spend an hour plus trying to get issues resolved and being placed on hold multiple times and nothing is ever fixed! I called back today and was the lady I was talking to was not addressing my concerns and I was hung up on. Now I'm stuck with a bill of overcharges during the holidays! I am placing reviews everywhere possible today. I noticed I was paying approximately $125 a month for 600mbps and new customer price is $35. I used chat to negotiate a lower price but the representative could only offer me $109 a month and called it a promotion for existing customers. If Astound only targets new customers for this deal then I too will target new customers with my feedback. read more

By far the worst internet provider I have used. Outages every week. I work from home and I continually lose internet. Every time I call, I am always advised to restart my router, my router is never the issue. I live at legacy flats apartments and they only allow internet through them, truly a bummer. Its a shame that my own cell phone hot spot is more reliable than my home internet. read more

Extremely disappointed with this internet. They added 14 dollars to my bill after 13 months of being a customer. When I asked why, I was told that a discount I had "expired". After this I decided to cancel the services, an agent told me that if I returned the equipment earlier I would only be charged for the days before returning the equipment. I returned everything that very day, after getting home I get back with them to ask if everything went well. And this time they tell me that I was "misinformed" and that I will still be charged for the days after returning the equipment. A whole week. Extremely disappointed and frustrated. read more

Started horrible. The representative did my sign up through text because he was in meetings. He made up security answers and never told me what they were. So, I couldn't login. He also made up my username. They were also willing to lose my business when the auto pay didn't go through and they never notified me but instead added a $30 charge to my account, that they didn't want to reverse. Started paying $50 monthly when I first signed up at the end I was getting charged $80 monthly for the same WiFi. Switched to google fiber. Best decision I could make. I personally have no issues with the internet, its more the billing issue, first they were not billing me, and I have a very busy life I can't keep up with somethings, but I realized they were not billing me, then they fixed that issue. But I honestly can not believe they dont work with you after you have gone through an accident, I literally, could barely afford my bills and they were not understanding nor did they want to help me with the "promise to pay" its rediculous that they charge you $15 of a late fee when you can barely afford to pay your already owed bill make it make sense. Their staff is very helpful, but their organization overall is terrible. The transfer of ownership made it impossible to find contact information that was responsive/useful. They overcharged and would not reverse mistaken charges for over a year. I had 1 modem and got charged for 2 then finally was able to speak with someone for help. We started using Grande (as it was then) quite a few years ago (inner city San Antonio) and for awhile it was great. It is no longer great. Over the last 2-3 years we have had to call for service on our internet connection many times. The problem is always in their wiring outside the house -- often neighborhood-wide -- but problems continue despite "repairs". We can count on the system to be unstable between 9 and 11 am every day, with frequent disconnects -- and a crap shoot any other time. This looks like another tragedy of a decent local company that sells out to a national corporation which, like all large corporations, doesn't give a damn about anything but profit. read more

GRANDE is contracted with LOW INCOME or restricted income apartments.... From the very beginning when they hardwire the apartments to only service grande. Im sure its a big business deal the low income tax credit corporations do with grande communications in order to strike deals and make money back. This becomes a MAJOR issue where now low income families who are barely making ends meet are conned and FORCED into a specific cable service without a CHOICE, due to their circumstances and wanting affordable "nice looking" apartment homes. Moving from another city in Texas to San Antonio to an apartment complex with Grande as the monopoly for internet, we were sold the highest tier with the promise of fastest download/upload capabilities. The installation was quick on a Saturday evening. 2 weeks in, the internet is slower than 1990 dial up. Contacting service to set up a site visit twice with both times the technician no-showed leaving me waiting by cancelling the appointment without notice since the modem was working. The 3rd appointment the tech shows up to say there is nothing he can do since "his" laptop registers 600 download (I am paying for 900 download) and my laptop at most gets 200 download. A week before using AT&T Fiber Internet my same laptop reached speed near 950 download. Technical support states there are too many devices connected to the router slowing the internet. All I hear are excuses for poor connectivity. $80 for dial up. read more

Long story short, poor communication with this customer and inaccurate timeframes for install. I ended up cancelling installation all together. I scheduled new internet setup with 7 days notice. On the day of install, I received an automated call with a one hour time window for tech arrival. 30 minutes after latest point in the arrival I called and was told the appointment would need to be rescheduled. They rescheduled me for 4 days later and didn't make any effort to move it to a sooner date. Today's scheduled appointment was between 1-5pm. I received an automated call stating driver would be there by 1:30. It's now 5:08 and I'm just now getting a call from the tech. I cancelled the installation. read more

Frequent router reboots, paying for 1 Gig service showing less than 50% of 1 gig service Oh BTW the claim if too many devices doesn't justify the poor incoming signal quality coming into the router from the outside. Wiring is outdated as is the MDU outside at the building . Grande get your act together and begin upgrading the technology. Unfortunately we are stuck with your company. My husband called to report a problem and was told that nobody could fix it... for 3 days. And when he asked if he could speak to anyone else, they flatly said "no. The worst!!! I've been having tech issues since January with internet/cable. On top of raising my bill every year like 40% they have the audacity to charge $54 for a tech to visit (four times) and each time they tell me the problem is from the pole and or the wiring outside the building, nothing wrong with my equipment inside! I even gave them the landlords contact number to replace the line and nothing as of yet has been done. Feelin' kinda foolish for giving Grande so many chances! I went online to pay my credit card bill and saw that my Grande bill was almost $20 more than usual (again). Sigh. So I called customer service and spoke with a very nice gentleman who couldn't really tell me why there was an increase in my monthly charge. He mentioned "inflation" but I'm not really sure what he was talking about -- not really a clear answer. Inform your poor customer service reps more clearly if you're gonna charge people more Grande! He ended up giving me a loyalty discount at $15/month but it still ends up being more than what my monthly bill has been for months. Additionally (just like last time), Grande didn't communicate an increase in my monthly bill in ANY WAY! If I didn't regularly check my credit card statement or email from Grande, I would have been blindly paying an extra $20/month without realizing it. Very poor experience (again). I appreciate their efforts at trying to make it right but am really scratching my head that they'll increase my bill all of a sudden with no communication and/or clear reason after being a loyal customer for over 3 years. I seriously hate grande. They are constantly raising my bill. They refuse to call me back. On their online chat, they leave me waiting forever now that I've made a complaint. They say they notified me of the bill increase. But of course they hide it down at the bottom of a bill. They do not send a separate notification specifically about raising my rate. I'm also on auto-pay, so they automatically started charging me more and just taking it out. I tried to look up the terms and conditions of auto-pay on their website to see if I had agreed to this by enrolling in auto-pay. I could not find it anywhere. I tried calling them and chatting online and asked for the terms and conditions of auto-pay. They answered my online chat, and as soon as I asked for the terms and conditions, they ignored me. I know this might not be different from other cable providers, but I did not have this experience with Comcast or Time Warner. Especially the being ignored and not being able to find their terms and conditions. Grande is the most unscrupulous company I've ever dealt with. The fact that they hide the information, that they won't even share the terms and conditions with me is so dishonest. I'm cancelling my service, because I'm lucky enough to have other options where I live. Update: I found the auto pay terms and conditions. It does not say that they can automatically charge and increased amount. It says I agree to auto pay any authorized amounts. But it does not say that by enrolling in auto pay I automatically authorize increased amounts. Maybe the legalese technically allows this. But I think it's bullshit, they are a bullshit company that hopes to hide price increases from you. D. This was the most garbage internet provider ever. I wish they would go out of business and Legacy Flats Apartments on Shaenfield Road would break the contract with this company. We only have internet and phone. The internet lately has been very sporadic. Which is frustrating when watching a show or a movie. Let alone trying to send an email. I know that the techs haven't been out here quit a bit. All I know is we pay good money for sporadic service. read more

Grande is not one of the first TV/internet/phone providers I thought about when getting my own place. Unfortunately, at my apartment complex we can't get Time Warner Cable or AT&T, the only choices are Dish, Direct TV or Grande. Now where my actual apartment is situated, it's not facing in the right direction so therefore, my only choice is Grande. I looked up their prices online and they seemed quite reasonable (for a basic package and the slowest internet it is $69.99). I'm on a budget so figured at this time, the basic package was for me. When I tried to set-up service online and entered my address, it told me there was no service in my area which was confusing since the complex told me I could get service, so I had to call them and set it up. Which isn't bad, but I much prefer to have things in writing and select things on my own online rather than doing it over the phone. The person I dealt with on the phone was really nice and wasn't trying to upsell me and buy more than what I wanted. We made an appointment for my move-in date and when the guy came to put in our equipment he was really friendly and knowledgable. He was also very fast and efficient. Sadly, after he left we realized that we couldn't record shows which was weird since we had ordered DVR. Apparently, the cable box he gave us was not able to record shows, which is fine, we just need to switch it out. But in order to switch it out, we either had to pay $20 for a technician to come out or drive to the location on San Pedro to switch it out ourselves. This really annoyed me considering this wasn't even my fault from the beginning, it was theirs. I went to the location on 6555 San Pedro Ave and dealt with this horrible woman, she was so rude and kept trying to tell me we hadn't paid for DVR when we had. I didn't have my bill with me so couldn't prove that we were charged for it. We got it all sorted out in the end but hopefully I never EVER have to go there again. The actual TV and internet so far has been just fine. We get a great number of channels, I've never had any crashing issues as of yet (but I've only had Grande for two weeks so can't really be too sure, I'm sure there will be plenty in the future). And the internet, even though it's the slowest of them all, is pretty fast considering what I'm used to working with, but I only use the internet to facebook, check e-mails and yelp so I don't download things, so it may be slower for that. All-in-all, customer service has been OK. On the phone I have no issues with sales and technician people but going in person to the San Pedro location was a nightmare. read more

Grande is just terrible. I rely on their internet service for both work, school, and leisure. It is not adept for any of my dependencies. One horror story I have is that I had a final examination for school due at 11:59pm. I finished my paper at 10:45, had my sister review it, made a few changes, and was ready to submit at 11:40. Service went out and long story short, I had to drive to UTSA downtown campus to connect and send. The incident cost me an A in the class, and now serves as my only B in my graduate degree. I called to alert them, and they had shut the internet down during that time to do maintenance. My browsers, consistently on a daily basis, do not load properly. I literally have to hit refresh anywhere from 3 to 8 times to get the page to load. I have this problem nowhere else, other than in my own home. Others that visit my house and use their laptops have the same problem. It is an awful service. I support local companies, but unfortunately, Grande is just not a business I can back up. Fortunately, other providers have been able to make inroads in my location, so Grande is no longer the single monopoly in my neighborhood. read more

I switched to Grande recently because I found out they were locally owned, they were offering some very competitive packages, and I was tired of the cable company I had been using blowing me off and offering little to no customer service when I needed them. Grande is small and owned locally, and when you call you actually talk to the same person every time... and she remembers talking to you last time. MIND WAS BLOWN. They are efficient, do a great job and are just all around incredibly friendly each time we interact. Within a couple days, I had new cable service, fast internet and a smile on my face. Oh! And I was able to save about $40/month from my previous provider. Over the last two days, my internet has come to a screeching halt. Pages would take several minutes to load, or they simply wouldn't load at all. So, I called customer service. My call was answered in minutes and they began to diagnose the problem. Though the solution did take a chunk of time, it turned out to be user error on my part (when my new furniture was delivered, a cable was knocked out of the wall but covered up by my dresser) and we finally fixed it and everything is back to running well again. And I am much happier and calmer than before because as you might imagine, you can't work for Yelp when your internets are down! read more

Who knew the taxes would include surcharges that would be over $62? Ummmm.....that is more than 50% of the quote I counted on to make my decision. RIDICULOUS!!!! How disappointing. Their Wi-Fi is overpriced and not very good. The only thing good about them is they answer fast when I call. Right now I pay $70 for basic Wi-Fi from them and the only reason I kept them is because the apartment complex I'm at only has the services but I am switching as soon as I move to something more affordable and better connections. read more

Great customer service at this local offices. The outs of operations are kind of odd. They close at 1pm on Saturday. Saturday is when people are running the most errands.
