Came here after a rec league game with about 12 people around 8pm on a Thursday. No problems with getting access to the bar for drinks and ordering our food. Additionally, the food came out within 20 minutes so that's pretty fair given we all ordered at the same time. Environment itself is spacious. We were able to fit all 12 of us between two tables. The music/DJ was very good and didn't feel like it was too loud. There's also games you can play which also adds to the environment. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the "out of this world" heat. The sandwich was hot but nothing crazy. Everyone else enjoyed their food as we were pretty hungry to no complaints there. My company had a happy hour event in the downstairs area. They were nice, good service, and made drinks fast. Overall the food was ok. The chicken sliders were alright. The loaded nachos were pretty good and rightfully named Loaded! The chicken wings with the spicy rub were really spicy, I wouldn't even say tasty? it just tasted like spice, but also covered in sauce/messy to eat. Overall the food is just what you need when you're at a bar like this. For cocktails, I ordered the apple cider old fashioned. It was what you'd expect, and rather good. I did enjoy the kick of the cinnamon. I also ordered the Sputnik which was basically a moscow mule. All drinks were great, redeemed Astro Beer Hall a bit more from me considering the food wasn't amazing. I'm the trivia host here on Wednesdays. Don't worry, they don't pay me, I work for a different company. I've been host in a lot of places and seen plenty of different menu gimmicks, vibes, drink specials and so on. Astro easily earns an A in all of those, with excellent food, fast service, and a fun atmosphere. But one thing that really sticks out to me (in a good way) is the staff. During trivia, one bartender named Nicole basically runs the whole upstairs. And it's honestly a sight to watch. A typical trivia gig probably has three workers handling this many tables. But she's an absolute machine. And as the person running the game, the least I can do is let everybody know that nobody would be able to enjoy my games if they had to wait all night in line. She's killing it. Tl;dr, come to this place and order the Asteroid and a beer from the lady with the pink hair who is studiously and efficiently an absolute rock without whom trivia would not function. read more

The servers were incredibly nice and the beers were well priced. The only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is the portion size. My company sponsored a corporate event here back in October. I worked with a person by the name of Ryan Hoehne. Ryan was awesome to work with! The event from planning to execution was fantastic. The food was setup and the ease of getting our drinks was excellent. We allowed staff to also order from the menu and the wait staff was wonderful as well. The overall atmosphere of Astro was really cool. Our staff enjoyed playing pool and watching a game on TV. Everyone had a great time and expressed that we should come back for another event! I'm going to be honest, I didn't even know this place existed. I'm a huge fan of Astro Donuts but for some reason I have always failed to notice this place (right next door)! The place is super chill, has two levels, the downstairs level has an arcade room and both levels have a full bars. This place has a great selection of craft beer and food; I highly recommend the chicken sliders (a bit of spicy) and the loaded tater tots. I was about to go Napoleon Dynamite on these tater tots and put the left overs in my pocket, they are that GOOD. Enough for two. Decided on this place while in town after hearing good things. We were confused right as we walked as a sign said "order here" but people were standing around everywhere ordering from different places at the bar. Took a long time for the bartender to get to us as there was confusion by everyone about who was next. I ordered the grilled chicken tacos and my husband order the Astro fried chicken sandwich. We ordered and sat down and noticed that it was very noisy as people around us were playing games and lots of the tables were dirty. We waited on our food for about 25 minutes. I went to the bathroom which was very gross with urine on the floor with no paper towels. The food was decent and my tacos had a good amount of flavor but overall, not worth it. Great beer list. Most craft brews run $8 a pint, which I think is fair for downtown. Service is good albeit it ordering from the bar, which is required for the main floor, can be cumbersome. Food is standard and relatively quick. Service is good. Lots of TVs with sports (no sound) and booths for seating. 4 stars instead of 3 because the vibe is something hard to find downtown. I'd been to Astro Chicken and donuts, and I found it to be an okay experience. But since I was looking for a good happy hour and this place was close to my dinner restaurant, I decided to stop in for a little bit. At 5 pm, the bar was pretty crowded, no seats to be had, but I was able to grab a booth in the slightly larger dining area. The bartender (who barely spoke English) let me try two beers. Just for having a Boulevard IPA on tap in DC, I'm impressed, because that Space Cadet beer tasted fantastic! I ordered the happy hour fried chicken sliders (no Ranch). I took my beer and number over to the booth. Props to them for having outlets at the booth so a phone can be charged. I went into the restroom to wash up and let's just say it could've been kept a little bit cleaner. Three sliders came in a basket with chicken, lettuce, and tomato on mini-cheddar biscuits. I asked for some of the rosemary honey mustard (great condiment) and I also added some Frank's hot sauce for some much needed kick. The sliders were good, but the mustard and hot sauce were sorely needed. The chicken had a little seasoning, but temperature wise, it could have been a little hotter and crispier. Pretty spacious with two floors. Went for happy hour and ordered from the QR code on a table downstairs. For some reason, the happy hour food specials aren't clearly labeled in the app. Maybe they were just included in the regular menu with the discount, but I couldn't tell. I had such high hopes for this place. Let me start off by saying they were severely understaffed. They had one bartender running the top floor. He had to take food and drink orders and clear the tables. I've nice you place your food order you get a buzzer and seat yourself. There is a food runner who will call out the number related to your buzzer. Their food was great but due to the lack of staff it took a while. Happy hour offers $6 beers on select ones but they were out of all except one. There is a very small outdoor area and there is a downstairs section too.
