This place appears to be in the upscale side (looking from outside) although it's a Motif is cool- it's just a sports bar type restaurant with sports bar type food. The food was okay. I had the steak frites, I had it cooked well because my only other choice was Medium and when I'm told the chef can't cook my steak medium-well- I don't think i could have stomached a steak with too much red ( to each its own). The fries were delicious! My son had the pastrami sandwich and he said it was good with some vinegar chips. My husband had beef sandwich with French onion dip and chips. He enjoyed. I have mixed feelings in leaving a review but these were my observations. I do want to preface that we dined during the UFC Freedom 250 event. 1) my reservations were for 6 and they would not honor (only 4). We made it work. This was approved by the Hostess Hanna and confirmed by the manager. 2) a good amount of tv screens and they played the volume pretty loud which was great. 3) great atmosphere and live 4) birria egg rolls delicious and summer salad very refreshing 5) server can use some customer service skills (very disappointing). We had to flag the servers to get service, but expected during a busy time. However I did notice the servers carrying buckets of ice and putting ice packs on their shoulders. We had the smash burger which truly hit the spot. I love cheese, and there was a generous amount on this. We also had the poke nachos which was very good! The tuna was fresh, it had avocado, and seaweed salad. The flavors all came together well. We ordered a carafe of peach sangria which gave several pours worth. We recently enjoyed dinner at this establishment after a show at The National Theater. I had been here before but it had been a couple of years so I was down to try it again. The restaurant has a bar area and seated dinner area, and we were in the latter section. We liked the vibes -- it's dimly lit and it has a "city" vibe. Our server was nice and attentive. She recommended the smash burger and I'm so glad she did! I ordered that with fries and it was so good! My sister ordered the salmon burger with broccolini and she enjoyed her meal. My daughter ordered the buttered pasta with fruit (strawberries and blueberries) from the kids menu. So good. We were at a wedding in DC and gave this place a try after all the festivities were done. It has a great, open-concept that allowed for an inside/outside vibe with great ambient light. The place was much bigger than it appeared off the street. We were there for a late-night snack and a drink. I ordered the wings and let me tell you...wow! It made the "mild, buffalo" wings back home feel like "diet wings" haha. Oh man, did they have some kick and flavor that was far more superior than I was used to. The bartender and service were amazing as well. We didn't stay long, but it had all the elements of a great place and up our alley for sure. The wooden exposed ceiling rails, White interior is very dim. The menus are hard to read because of the font and lighting. The food was shall we say "proper." The app wings are huge and savory. My husband got an old fashioned, which was pretty good. The kids split a cheese pizza from the kids menu (they have a kids menu!) Let me preference this with it was 100 degrees in DC so the weather was a factor. I believe their air conditioning was on its last leg because of the extreme temperatures. I ordered a lemon drop (of course) gold rush wings and the Garlic Wine mussels. Lemon Drop - 10/10, no notes, perfect balance of vodka. Gold Rush Wings - 10/10 - perfect crunch, great blend of spicy and sweet. Mussels - 8/10 - broth could've been seasoned better in my opinion but the mussels themselves were good quality and only two went unopened which I would say speaks to the quality of the batch I received. Parking is a bit chaotic down here but street parking was available for around $5 otherwise you'll have to find a garage. I came with a friend after exploring the Christmas markets. There were open spots at the bar so we sat there. We are both loving cider right now so we got the cider on draft to drink. And we ordered wings and the burger. I love that we were able to split the wing flavors. We got buffalo and the gold rush as flavors. The gold rush is supposed to be a combo of multiple flavors.
