I got in my garage! What a gift it was to find Astro Locksmith. He answered my call at 8 PM on a Saturday and showed up within 40 minutes to open my garage door which ended up being a condo / electrical issue on the outside lock. This review is for on-site residential re-key work. Five stars feels a little high, for no good reason, but it's impossible to piece together anything they did that would knock that score down. So five stars it is. Called them on a Tuesday and asked to have someone come out to replace a lock with a lost key. The guy very politely offered a counter-suggestion: "just have us re-key the lock for you. Save you some money." He offered to send someone out that day, just a couple hours later. Nice! I was at work and had to schedule for later in the week. In the interim, it dawned on me that it would be nice to have all my exterior locks and deadbolts re-keyed. So the scope of work went up a little bit. Dude was a little bit late, and I had to call the office and check on him, but they were very prompt and professional about it--earlier job ran over. Guy shows up and it's obvious by his clothes he's not overcharging anybody. He's professionally but humbly dressed. I run the job by him and he gets to work right away. I had to close the doors behind him when he popped the locks to go re-key them, but I had other workmen on site and that's not an issue at all anyway. He did the work quickly and the locks are all rock solid. Total for locks and deadbolts and new keys: $185. Paid by check. Very happy with these guys. read more

I found this place via Yelp. Most locksmiths you find in the Yellow Page are mobile and cost a lot. This is a bricks-and-mortar location with mobile service. The owner is very friendly. If you bring the lock in yourself you save a lot of money. I was quoted $15 to re-key a lock that I brought in plus $3 for additional keys, my suggestion is to pay cash! ;) I was out of the door in 15 minutes for a re-key and 5 copies. The price was great and so was the service I am a real estate broker and have had nothing but problems with keys copied by Home Depot/Lowe's with their Axxess cartridge-style key copier for non-locksmith resulting in keys that don' t work and get stuck and jam in the lock resulting in having to r&r the current lock which is additional time and money. I only go to a locksmith because it's done right the 1st time. read more

I lost my keys. Car keys and house keys. These guys came out within 30 mins after I phoned them for help. He had to take my door panel completely off, find the lock and make a key right on the spot. His key cutting machine was brand new, but for some reason he was having problems cutting my key. So he phoned his shop and someone was out to help within 10 minutes. They cut my key with help from his co-worker quickly and they worked together to put my door panel back on. He programmed my new key in about 30 minutes (typical time) and stayed to make sure that it worked. Everything was great. He was very friendly, and so was his co-worker. They really worked hard, and complete customer satisfaction. It did cost me 250 bucks, but very well worth it. I would recommend this locksmith to anyone. Oh! And he cut a "blank" for me in case I lose my keys again, and he wouldn't have to take my door apart for that. Very grateful! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I asked the guy in the shop to cut my new car key. I tried to price it down but I could see how annoyed he got so I just accepted the $40 price. I should have known. When he was all done I asked why he did not test the key out on the engine. He told me that "of course not, this won't work for the engine." I asked why he didn't tell me that in the first place. Who would want a key just to open their door? He immediately said, "fuck you, you asshole. You are so mean!" I got so heated and cussed back. I wanted to do some unspeakable things but instead I apologized for cussing at the older gentleman. But I told him I would yelp him for that. What I feel bad about is not having been cussed at but allowing it to provoke me to cussing back. In the end, he may have just been having a bad day got some bad news or just tired and cynical after all these years. Either way, that's no way to treat your customer. There never seems to be anyone at this shop. I called ahead when I was first looking up a local locksmith, and the owner answered, and I came in that afternoon. I got a key duplicated for $5; in and out in 5 minutes. Later, I stopped by on a weekday afternoon, and the sign said "Open", but no one was there (the door was locked). I called the number on the front door; it was the owner's cell phone. He said he would be there in 5 minutes. I waited in my car, outside the shop, for 10 minutes, and he never showed. So I went home, unloaded my groceries, and came back 15 minutes later. Still nobody home. I waited another 5 minutes, and left for a second time. Today (Saturday) I stopped by his shop once again, and yet again, there was no one there, and the door was locked! Seriously, if you own a shop you have to be there for customers! If not the owner, then you need to pay someone to be there for walk-ins. I am going to Fred Meyer from now on; they are just down the street, and cost about 1/2 the price of Astro Locksmith. read more

I was referred here by Gene over at Lynnwood Key & Lock, who I was referred to from Eric at Brody's (awesome guy to work with). I needed two small pieces for a lock assembly for my car. A spring and latch. The man here (I can't remember his name.... =\) JUST so happened to have the very two pieces that I needed to get my lock assembly completed! From the moment I went into Brody's, it took me I believe just less than 2 hours and $40 before my car was running perfectly again!
