Took some key blanks I bought off eBay for my vintage Mercedes to get extra keys made. Turns out the blanks I had were the wrong ones and they didn't have the right ones in stock. Incompetent and Unprofessional. Took a set of simple car keys (old school classic) to have copies made. The first attempt to have them copies by a young woman at the Bothell location (who was unfriendly) resulted in not working on the car. I came back the next day and a young man attempted to fix them. Again, they didn't work. Not only that, but my good master key that opened the trunk, now didn't work. Obviously he copied the badly made key to my good key. I called up Chris, who went round and round with me saying that this type of thing can happen and using ridiculous word salads. He said to fix it, they would need the lock cylinder in the car and that they would have to charge me $170 diagnostics fee, either in person or if they came to my location. After talking in circles with me and me telling him that I would not pay the fee because he ruined my keys, he said to bring them back and they would fix them. Of course, they could not because he ruined the good key! So now I had to remove the trunk lock cylinder out of my classic car, which is not an easy process. Requires removing half of rear interior to gain access to trunk which is locked and can't be opened because they botched the job and ruined the good key. So I came back again the next day with cylinder, only to be told to go to their location next to Fred Meyers In Lynnwood, because the woman in Bothell didn't know how to fix them and said Chris would do it at the other store. So I went to the Lynnwood shop. They acquired that shop recently, which I always had quick and quality service on copies made prior to the new Wise Locksmith ownership. I wait in line for 15 minutes, while 2 people, one being Chris, are slowly doing something for customer in front of me. When it was my turn, Chris, acted like he never met me before and made me retell the story and the make of the car etc. I give him (against my better judgement at this point) the lock cylinder to fix the keys. Now he says it will take the rest of the day to fix the keys. I come back later in the day and he finally has the keys. He made 3 copies. Says they work. Proceeds to show me the keys will turn the cylinder...the first key he puts in won't work....so he goes back to grinding, hammering (yes, hammering) and filing by hand for another 5-10 minutes. In the meantime, while I'm waiting, I'm subjected to listening to VERY LOUD Rap music blaring from the overhead speakers. The Rap is very racist type with lyrics that constantly say the N word over and over, along with ho this and ho that. Very offensive. Listen to whatever you want in your own time, but why would you subject customers to that crap. Finally he gives me the keys back. Now I get to go home and spend a couple of hours putting my car back together. Because it is a 54 year old car, metal is old etc. While reassembling latch, which hasn't been off of car for that many years, the metal fatigues and breaks where it mounts on one side. Summary. All I wanted was 2 copies of old school replica keys (that cost money and freight). In return, I got 3 days of hassle, wasting gas, driving back and forth, disassembling my car, and putting up with absolute total incompetence, rude and arrogant phone conversations, dismissive and unfriendly interactions with employees at both locations. This cost me quite a bit of money and time running back and forth, and now I have a broken mounting bracket inside of my trunk lid that I don't see how you can get in there and weld. Potentially may need another trunk lid and painting/bodywork, which will cost at least a grand. All I wanted was 2 simple copies of simple low tech car keys. I would recommend driving for 50 miles somewhere else than to take even the most simple Locksmith 101 tasks to this outfit. I've never written a Yelp review ever. But the way I got screwed on this deal, with absolutely no remorse on their part....I signed up just to do this review. read more

A new fob was ordered on December 29th, was told 3 days. After hearing nothing by January 6th, husband stopped by, the person acted as though he had no idea. Another employee (who quit right then & there) told husband the fob had never been ordered, he ordered it while my husband was standing there. Things happen. But when the fob was picked up, he was treated rudely, told to wait outside. He was then charged $50 more than quoted. This entire outfit seems sketchy. Other reviews have mentioned being treated poorly and not getting the correct information. Stay away, there's better locksmiths in the area. read more

The owner Chris is great and made the situation better. Thanks. I've never been treated that rudely by any business and will never return. I'm a non-confrontational mild-tempered business professional who was just told to "fucking leave", by David, and to "never come back" when I tried to explain my concern. That is not how I talk and was appalled. The owner who was there too, told David to back down after witnessing him cuss at me. I was unsatisfied with their second attempt at cutting the pins within the cylinder I dropped off and tried to explain the issue. Their first attempt to change the pins to accept my different key resulted in the key needing to be 'pulled out an 1/8in' to disengage the lock, their second attempt left the cylinder able to be operated by ANY key. I specifically informed the guys when I dropped it off that it was more important to be done right, than fast and agree to their $175/hr rate. Two business days later I ended up paying $211 to get my cylinder and lockset back, but now I'm left needing to go to another locksmith who can actually do the job right. Very disappointed and I highly recommend you do not utilize this business. I'm still shocked and it's really their loss. I just wish $211 later my lock was fixed and it's not. read more

CONSUMER BEWARE: I have used this location to make dozens of house and car keys over the last 35 years. Today, I asked to have a duplicate key made for my Honda Accord. I advised this was a spare key. They brought up a blank key that had a different head, but was okay as I am going to hide the key. They cut the key and made sure it worked. The price...$92, which I paid. I was flabbergasted at the price as I normally pay under $10 for my keys. They claimed it was expensive because it was a laser cut key. Did they tell me that? Nope. I did not ask at first as all my previous keys were under $10. A responsible business would advise the key was a special cut and would cost almost 20 times more. I would have immediately said no. I have two blank VW car keys need to be cut(cut only, don't need to program). I saw Wise Locksmith has very good rating on yelp and one of reviews said his car key cutting cost is $6/each. Drove 20 minutes to their shop, they told me the price is $49 each key. Asked why? The answer is because my keys have to get "laser cut" and laser cutting is expensive. I left without using their services. I believe the "laser cut" is just a way to make extra profit from customers. And I'm right, because at the end, I cut the keys by myself using a non-laser-cutting machine. The keys work very well. My point is they are not that good, at least in my case, they are not honest about the price and told me the keys have to using laser cutting. Not true. read more

We recently purchased a home and wanted to rekey the locks after moving in. I called Wise Locksmith and the owner picked up promptly, gave me a quote, explained what would need to happen, and booked me for an appointment the next day. One of their employees, Michael, came out the following day and provided excellent service. He informed me of the process, how long it will take, and even asked if we have a mailbox we need rekeyed, which I didn't even think of and I'm glad he did because he ended up doing that for us as well. I called because of all the great yelp reviews. I need my mailbox key replaced. I was told there is a $58 charge just for coming out to Bothell and they are in Bothell. The lock would be about $32. The post office will do it for $65 and they take 5 days. I'll wait. I'm not sure who all these people were talking to that got a deal because he wasn't answering the phone when I called. This place is a complete RIPOFF! Charged me $25 for 1 key fob battery which didn't work at all. No refund. Np but then the employee gives me a second battery which I'm guessing I'd paid for already. Why not give me what I paid for in the beginning! I went in a second time to have a new Key FOB programmed. The Tech spent 5 minutes trying to program which wasn't programmable (no fault of theirs) and I was charged $55 for what exactly! Diagnostic I guess! Josh showed up in about 20 minutes, opened my car in about a minute, took my payment and was very courteous and professional the entire time. Easy and fun to talk to. The rates are extremely good for this industry - $89 + tax instead of the average of $120 + tax - especially given the speed and quality of service. Hes nice person in shady business and really dedicating a lot of his time to his business. That said, just note he is not always available at the office, so you need to call. When he commits to coming and fix the problem, he will come and fix the problem and stick to the price he first offered you -even when he has to do more work. His price was 1/5 of other locksmiths so your patience in dealing with the timing of your service will pay off. Definitely fair relative to my experience with other locksmith professionals. Be patient with him with regards to scheduling, and he will pay off with reliability and lowest prices in town. read more

My mail box key copied at Lowes and home depot did not work. The shape looked the same but there must have been small discrepancies. Wise took the copies and made it work the first time. It was fast and cost effective. They even offered to make the key again if I had bought the entire lock. It was not needed but it was reassuring one way or another it was going to get handled. Times like this I wish there were an option for 6 star reviews (seriously Yelp, Elites should get to do a 6th star once a year or something). My van's only door lock was jammed, and Honda of Kirkland quoted me $250 to fix it. Another locksmith quoted me $200. Yuk. Chris from Wise said 'well, it'll either go fast and be less than $50, or the hard way somewhere around $125.' And when I went there, he had it fixed in 5 minutes for $25.
